  • Python Scraper for Javascript?

    Hey all, Can anyone direct me to a good Python screen scraping library for javascript code (hopefully one with good documentation/tutorials)? I'd like to see what options are out there, but most of all the easiest to learn with fastest results... wondering if anyone had experience. I've heard some stuff about spidermonkey, but maybe there are better ones out there?   • Reload external javascript after asynchronous postback via UpdatePanel

    I have an external javascript on my page, e.g. something like: <script src="http://foo.com/script.js" type="text/javascript"></script> and an UpdatePanel somewhere. The script writes some content, and does this from within an anonymous javascript function in the js file. I.e., there is something like this in the script: (function(){document.write('content');})(); Whenever the UpdatePanel is updated through asynchronous postback, everything the script did (or any javascript on my page, for that matter) is made undone. For normal javascript, I would just use: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_endRequest(myFunction) to redo all that, but since the function in the script source file is anonymous and called upon definition, I'm SOL! Any ideas? Note: the external js source is from another domain and its content is out of my control.

  • changing src reference based upon https

    I'm adding a facebook comment widget to a website. I'm placing this widget in a file that is included on everypage. The navigation is relatively linked so it switches back and forth from http and https. But for some reason the comment widget only shows up if both the src linked file and webpage is secure or both the src linked file and webpage is NOT secure. The widget does not display of the src file is secure and the webpage is not secure. So...     I'm modifying an existing FaceBook application. The FaceBook application is generated by another application, so I don't have much control over it. I can only add html/javascript. My goal is to use FBJS to detect the current language setting of the user and display a different message depending on their language. For example, if the user has their language setting set to Spanish, then I would like to show a message in Spanish on my FaceBook application. How can I do this?

  • Integers in JavaScript

    I'm a beginner to Javascript so forgive me if I sound dumb because I learned some Javascript from W3Fools (which are really difficult tutorials - they don't explain anything I want to know, but everything I probably can guess from my experience with C++). I may be switching over to MDN, but if you can recommend any other tutorials, that be great. Anyways, so here's my question: I just read a few lines of this, and apparently: Numbers in JavaScript are "double-precision 64-bit format IEEE 754 values", according to the spec. This has some interesting consequences. There's no such thing as an integer in JavaScript, so you have to be a little careful with your arithmetic if you're used to math in C or Java. I've already seen that there are few of the data types (for variables) I'm used to from C++. But I didn't expect all numbers to automatically be floats. Isn't there any way to use integers, not float? Will a future version of JavaScript support ints?

EDIT: I know that technically all these snippets are just javascript scripts that gets evaluated by the browser as if they were defined in the page. I also know that many browsers have got extensions to let you run javascript code (also letting you store scripts somewhere, providing a good editor etc etc). However that's not so practical; I'm not a javascript developer, haven't got firebug installed, and I can't install it anywhere I go. My idea idea is that of collecting the best "mini-scripts" that whoever can just copy and paste in his browser without the need of installing extensions and stuff.

  • clear cached javascript includes in FireFox

    I'm working on javascript for a site, developing with FireFox, and when I refresh the page, I don't see my changes. The javascript file is in an external file. I reloaded and refreshed the page several times, but the old javascript file was still cached. Finally, I loaded the javascript page in the browser directly, saw the old script, hit 'reload', and saw my changes. How can I clear cached external javascript files? I'll need to know this also when I tell the client that the changes are made, so that they aren't seeing the old cached functionality.

    I'm trying to install Android SDK on Ubuntu but fail when I try to use the SDK Manager and AVD Manager to install Android platforms. I've downloaded: android-sdk_r04-linux_86.tgz The I start the SDK Manager and AVD Manager (UI) according to the README file: ./tools/android And I get the following Installed Packages: - Install SDK Tools, revision 4 Available Packages: - https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repoisotry/repository.xml - This repository requires a more recent version of the Tools. Please update- - Android SDK Tools, revision 4 - Archive for Linux (comment: funny since rev 4 seems to be what's installed this is what seems to be installed) Now doing an update of the Android SDK Tools, revision 4 or everything results in 99% progress and then the application hangs.     Running the example code for the Facebook API I get a null session object, and I should get a non-null object giving the comment in the code. What am I doing wrong?     I am trying to integrate pages from a site I am building into the Facebook Open Graph. My goal is to create a Facebook "Community Page" for each cause in my application. I have added Open Graph tags to a page so that I can Like it in Facebook, and a community page corresponding to my cause has been added to Facebook. However, I am the only one who can see the community page, since I am its administrator. All other users are redirected to the URL of the cause itself. My community page is at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kings-Hospital-Garden-Short-Term-Aid/123353527700762 When fans go to this page, I would like them to see the Facebook community page rather than being redirected.   • ASP.NET how to use __doPostBack from Custom JavaScript with Master/Content Pages

    In a simple aspx page I can have a custom JavaScript function postback as described in http://www.xefteri.com/articles/show.cfm?id=18 The simple page uses a linkbutton: <asp:LinkButton id="CreateFile" runat="server" onclick="CreateFile_Click" /> with code behind that has the VB subroutine: Sub CreateFile_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) and a Javascript custom function that does: __doPostBack('CreateFile',''); When I move the code to a content page with a corresponding master page the simple example no longer works. I'm aware that server control IDs are changed in the generated HTML when a master page is involved, and I'm using the correct IDs in the Javascript. As an example, for the LinkButton ID I use '<%=CreateFile.ClientID%' for the Javascript in the generated HTML. Never the less, I still can't figure out how to get postbacks from the Javascript when master pages are involved. More accurately, with a master page in the mix the code won't even compile but results in: 'CreateFile_Click' is not a member of 'ASP.testmaster_aspx' If I remove onclick="CreateFile_Click" from the LinkButton markup it compiles but does not work. Similary if onclick is removed from the simpler version without a master page it does not work either, as expected. Any input on how to get postback from a custom Javascript function when using master pages would be much appreciated.

  • Grid view in iPhone SDK

    Hi, I would like to create a grid view in my iPhone app similar to that shown in the iPad photos app. I know that the iPhone 3.2 SDK is under NDA, but is there a library or framework available for adding this kind of functionality (non-SDK). Ideally I would like to eventually develop an iPad version of the app, where the grid would be 3 items wide in portrait and 4 in landscape, however for the time being I would like 2 items wide in portrait and 3 wide in landscape. The only way I can think of doing this is by subclassing UITableView and having a custom cell that creates the 2 or 3 items. This however seems messy and I am sure that there is a better way. A typical item will have a picture, label and button - nothing too complicated. Thanks

    Hi, I have tried this question on the site of Titanium and several tweets to their account, but they either ignore me or refuse to answer. I want to start using their framework, but for some reason the iPhone SDK is always "loading" when in the "TEST & PACKAGE" tab. Have you guys found a fix for this? I have: Snow Leopard 10.6.3 Titanium Developer 1.2.1 iPhone SDK 3.2 All the certificates "blah blah" from Apple because I am able to test and deploy apps on my device using XCode. Help please :)

    Hi! I have a request for implementing a login system using local credentials + openId + facebook-connect. So a user could sign up/sign in using any of the 3 possibilities. I think that allowing OpenId AND facebook connect adds some flexibility in one had, but in other hand adds some restrictions since you have to integrate all different logic and make existing differences transparent for users. What do you think? Any good reference for managing federated login using both external mechanisms? Any well known site doing it right now?

  • Facebook graph API - OAuth Token

    I'm trying to retrieve data using the new graph API, however the token I'm retriving from OAuth doesn't appear to be working. The call I'm making is as follows; $token = file_get_contents('https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token?type=client_cred&client_id=<app_id>&client_secret=<app secret>'); This returns a token with a string length of 41. To give you an example of what is returned I have provided below a sample (converted all numbers to 0, all capital letters to 'A' and small case letters to 'a' access_token=000000000000|AaaAaaAaaAAaAaaaaAaaAa0aaAA. I take this access token and attach it to the call request for data, it doesn't appear to be the correct token as it returns nothing. I make the data call as follows; file_get_contents('https://graph.facebook.com/<my_page's_id>/statuses?access_token=000000000000|AaaAaaAaaAAaAaaaaAaaAa0aaAA.') When I manually retrieve this page directly through the browser I get an 500/Internal Server Error Message. Any assistance would be grately appreciated.

I have given the absolute path to 'Header path info' Field. and its run fine without any Error.. But, Now When i Move the project folder to another destination, its but obvious, that path of src folder will change… So Now after moving file, when i run an application, It gives path error. So is there any way to solve this path issue? this comes when i run an app in simulator, and i guess It also won't run in iPhone because of problem of path of src folder.     Hi. I would like to enable my iPhone app users to share content via services like Facebook, Twitter and as many others as possible. It would also be great to allow them to use their Twitter/Facebook/Myspace/etc account to sign in to my app, rather than requiring them to create a new account on my server. Currently I'm interfacing with each of them individually, but I would like to use a service like Gigya (www.gigya.com) or (www.rpxnow.com) to allow me to use many more services (eg digg.com, livejournal, etc) without writing code to interact with every one of them.
