• jQuery to PHP: no input... kinda

  Hi all, I'm using jQuery to post HTTP requests to my PHP page (Apache/Linux, if that matters). I carefully validate on the client so that empty requests are not sent. However on occasions, I'd get an empty request like this: - $_POST collection empty ($_GET collection also empty); - Content-Length is nonzero (a number below 100, consistent with a valid POST from my script) - Content-Type properly application/x-www-form-urlencoded - reading from php://input yields an empty string It's as if $_POST is somehow eaten on the way. I checked the code very carefully - I don't do anything to the contents of $_POST. Any ideas, please?

Ive tried implementing this method but no matter what is returned from the PHP file I always get the message that the username is already taken. • JQUERY-UI Draggables - Seralize is running before the Draggable is complete

  Hello, I'm using the JQUERY-UI draggable plugin. As a setting, when the Draggable is done, using the STOP setting I run a function to seralize a list of LIs to get their order in terms of their IDs. For example, if I have an UL, with a list of LIs with the following IDs: 1,2,3,4,5 If I then move 5, between 2&3, the seralize is returning: 1,2,5,3,4,5 Which makes me think that the JQUERY UI-Draggable STOP is running before the page is finished rendering, or the DOM isn't update? Any ideas on how I can fix this from happening. Is there something I can do in my Seralize funtion to say, wait till JQUERY animations are all done, or stop all that are going on to ensure the DOM is accurate? Thanks

• jQuery - Add click event to Div and go to first link found

  Hi guys, I think I've been too much time looking at this function and just got stuck trying to figure out the nice clean way to do it. It's a jQuery function that adds a click event to any div with a click CSS class found in the page and when clicked it redirects the user to the first link found in the div. function clickabledivs() { $('.click').each( function (intIndex) { $(this).bind("click", function(){ window.location = $( "#"+$(this).attr('id')+" a:first-child" ).attr('href'); }); } ); } The code simply works although I'm pretty sure there is a fairly better way to accomplish it, specially the selector I am using: $( "#"+$(this).attr('id')+" a:first-child" ) looks too long and slow.   I'm curious how to specify options to a jQuery plugin in a way that some are required, some are optionally overridden, and some can't be touched. I started off with the usual: jQuery.fn.plugin = function (options){ var defaults = { username: "", posts:10, api: "http://myapi.com" } var settings = jQuery.extend({}, defaults, options); } Let's say I want username to be required, posts is optional (defaults to 10) and you (you being the user of the plugin) can't change api, even if they try. Ideally, they'd all still be in the same data structure instead of being split into separate objects. Ideas?

  Hi everybody, I'm very new to jQuery, Ajax and things like these. I've found solutions on how to inject HTML fragments into my site: $(document).ready(function(){ $('a').click(openContent); //binding all anchors to this function }); function openContent(){ var path = $(this).attr('href'); $('#content').load(path); return false; //to prevent browser from loading the single HTML fragment } That works really fine! The problem is, these function won't be executed when clicking on anchors located in the new HTML fragment which were injected right before. So the fragment won't get injected into div, the browser will only load the fragment for itself. Hope there are solutions which aren't that tricky... thanks sam

  Hi all! I have a problem selecting a checked radio button with jquery. The radio buttons are generated by a function from a MVC that i'd rather not change and its name is like id[number]. Simply put, I have to check if any of these buttons are checked: <input type="radio" name="id[1]" value="1"/ <input type="radio" name="id[1]" value="2"/ The problem is that jQuery('input:radio[name=id[1]]:checked').val() will select some function from the jQuery library. • multiple jQuery Cycle slideshows get superimposed

  I'm using the jQuery cycle plugin to create multiple slideshows on a single page (which, once I get this problem figured out, will be started/stopped by mouse hover -- yeah, I know there are 9 slideshows on the page). Problem is, when I tell more than one slideshow to start cycling, whichever ones I call cycle() on get superimposed. So, all the images from slide 1 are superimposed, then they all transition to slide 2, etc. I can tell they're being superimposed because the first slide of each slideshow contains a transparent PNG. This happens whether I call cycle() in a jQuery each() iterator, or even if I call it by hand on just two or three of the containers with a jQuery id selector. • jQuery .val Enigma between two input boxes

  I'm trying to get it so that if I move a red div-square around the screen using jQuery UI and jQuery, then an input field updates with the position of the div. I got that working with a simple .val. But, it's hard to explain why, but I need to make it so that when I move the square, it updates my input box, and when the input box value is changed, another input box reflects the new value of the old input box. Do I make any sense, coz I'm confusing myself :). I made a jsfiddle, so perhaps it'll make more sense there. If you move the red square, then the input box directly above it updates, but the input box above that does not, even though it is programmed to reflect the value of the input box below itself. P.S. • how do I assign a variable to a returned response in jQuery

  I wanted to assign a returned value (just text) to a variable in jQuery. I wrote this: var hm=22; $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "ajax_check_match.php", dataType: "text", success:callback }); function callback(data, status) { // assign ajaxed value to cm variable cm=data; if (hm != cm) { dosomething(); } } But it fails every time. Why is that the cm variable keeps getting undefined when it sends request. I set the php file to return 1 and it still says undefined. I opened ajax_check_match.php in browser and I see "1". I didn't see the point of using XML or JSON since a simple number would suffice. Or do I have to use XML/JSON?

• jQuery: 'async: false' Not Working With IE7 / IE6

  I created a simple tracking script which adds the users info to a database when the page is unloaded. It works on all browsers except IE7 and IE6. IE7 gives me errors, but I can't open the "debugger" because I'm using the standalone version (or at least that's what I think the problems is). I removed the async: false, from the script below and I didn't get any errors, but I need async set to false in order for the script to work. There is also other information associated with the drop down lists that is all in a table. So, when the user clicks a link I add a new row of textboxes and drop down lists to a table. When I add a row to my table, the new drop down lists are empty because there is no view data associated with them. How can I use ajax or jquery to pull the viewdata that I need to populate new drop down lists?

  Hi all, I am learning how to use JQuery validation plugin, and came across some questions about the JQuery magic that works on the sumbit action. I got a simple HTML form which has got an input text field like this: <form class="cmxform" id="commentForm" method="get" action=""> <input id="cname" name="name" size="25" class="required" minlength="2" /> <input class="submit" type="submit" value="Submit"/> </form> The magic happened when I tried not to input any data into the field and pressed the submit button. I saw an error message in red pop up, and no matter how hard and how many times I pressed the submit button, nothing was submitted. It seemed that there was some scripts that disabled the submit action, but I just couldn't find which lines of codes in the JQuery Validatyion Plugin that did it.
