  I'm not sure how to do this without getting an error. Here is a simplified example of my problem. Say I have this data frame DF a b c d 1 2 3 4 2 3 4 5 3 4 5 6 Then I have a variable x <- min(c(1,2,3)) Now I want do do the following y <- DF[a == x] But when I try to refer to some variable like "x" I get an error because R is looking for a column "x" in my data frame. I get the "undefined columns selected" error How can I do what I am trying to do in R?

  I have some proprietary.jar that I need to include in my project, but I don't wish to install it to the local repository.   I would like to track the value of a boolean (not Boolean) variable in the Eclips debugger. I need to know when it does change and, for this, i need to track it's value through all the execution; not only when it is in scope. More particularly i have a class (let's call it myClass) with a boolean member variable called isAvailable. My program instantiate 4 or 5 myClass objects. I am expecting that at the end of the execution the isAvailable value of all of my objects is set to true. Contrarily to my excpectation one of myClass objects has isAvailable set to false. I need to know which (in a lot of) methods is setting isAvailable to false.

• Google AppEngine + Local JUnit Tests + Jersey framework + Embedded Jetty

  I use Google Appengine for Java (GAE/J). On top, I use the Jersey REST-framework. Now i want to run local JUnit tests. The test sets up the local GAE development environment ( http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/java/tools/localunittesting.html ), launches an embedded Jetty server, and then fires requests to the server via HTTP and checks responses. Unfortunately, the Jersey/Jetty combo spawns new threads. GAE expects only one thread to run. In the end, I end up having either no datstore inside the Jersey-resources or multiple, having different datastore. As a workaround I initialise the GAE local env only once, put it in a static variable and inside the GAE resource I add many checks (This threads has no dev env? Re-use the static one). And these checks should of course only run inside JUnit tests.. (which I asked before: "How can I find out if code is running inside a JUnit test or not?" - I'm not allowed to post the link directly here :-|)

• SQLServer using too much memory

  I have installed on my desktop machine (with windows 7) SQLServer 2008 R2 Express. I have only one local server running (./SQLEXPRESS) but the sqlserver process is taking ALL the RAM possible. With an machine with 3GB of RAM the things starts to get slow, so I limited the maximun amount of RAM in the server, and now, constantly the SQLServer give some error messages that the memory is not enought. It's using 1GB of RAM with only one LOCAL server with 2 databases completely empty, how 1GB of RAM isn't enought ? When the process start it's using an really acceptable amount of memory (around 80MB) but it's keep increasing until it reaches the maximun defined and start to complain about having not enought memory available. In that point I have to restart the server to use it again. I have read about an hotfix to solve one of the errors I got from sqlserver: There is insufficient system memory in resource pool 'internal' to run this query But it's already installed on my sqlserver. Why it's using so much memory?

  Hello, I get the following errors when I attempt video format conversions called from the local host: “An invalid media type was specified” for M4V to WMV conversions. “One or more arguments are invalid” for MP4 to WMV conversions. Here are the details of the problems: I’ve written a dll in C# that accepts videos in the formats AVI, WMV, M4V and MP4 and performs the following actions: Creates a copy of the input video in WMV format . Creates a WAV file of the input video audio portion. Creates a JPG image from a frame of the input video. I attached the dll to an ASP.NET web project that performs the dll actions. When tested through the developer studio, the actions are performed as intended for all formats. When I place the web project in place to be read when the local host is called through the web browser, the following behavior takes place: WMV format: All actions performed as intended. AVI format: Creates WMV file – OK Creates JPG image – OK Creates empty WAV file – problem. M4V format: Creates empty WAV file – problem. Does not create WMV file -problem Does not create JPG file –problem Throws me the error “An invalid media type was specified” MP4 format: Creates empty WAV file – problem. Does not create WMV file -problem Does not create JPG file –problem Throws me the error “One or more arguments are invalid” When I check their security property, all the files have the same permission access parameters (when I check their security property.   In R, "assign('x',v)" sets the object whose name is 'x' to v. Replace 'x' by the result of applying a text function to a variable x. Then "assign" shows its worth. Unfortunately, "assign(paste('names(','x',')',sep=''),v)" fails. So if 'x' is a variable x, I can set its value, but I can't give it names for its elements. Can one work around this? a parse-eval trick maybe? Thanks.

I want to skip the first line and get all the other lines and separte each number on the line. Finally, I want to write each number on Excel.   My website has a javascript variable (addselectedsubdivision) that loads a neighborhood name from a box on the left to a box on the right. I was hoping I could build a link and then us PHP to add the subdivision letter, neighborhood, and city so that when you click on the link it goes right to this page and loads the neighborhood name in the box on the right. • Linux/Apache performance very slow even on local network

  I have an Ubuntu server machine running Apache and MYSQL. System and version info is as follows: Linux kernel 3.0.0.-12 Apache/2.2.20 MySQL Ver 14.14.Distrib 5.1.58 I am running a few websites on this server, some HTML only, some PHP/MySQL. THe [problem is that response time is very slow, both on static as well as the dynamic sites. Sometimes it takes more than 10 seconds before a response is given, this makes the sites very slow and almost unusable. The problem occurs even when requesting from the local network. I have added the involved subdomains to my /etc/hosts file, and abolve all the problem is not solved by using IP numbers instead of URL's. So there is no DNS lookup issue. I have modified the log format by showing the response times and sometimes a files takes 12 seconds to be served, see the jquery~.js file in the example screenshot. I have no explanation for this extremely long response time, but is is not even the only issue here, some other files takes a long time to be served too, but do not show a long response time in the log file. So probably different tissues are involved here. I cannot find a solution until now, any suggestions??? Maybe this gives some extra information! EDIT: The problem seemed to be gone for some time but occurs again! And not only with Apache, also connecting using SSH takes a tremendous time, sometimes it takes up to 15 seconds before the keyphrase is asked for. Also scp works very slowly.
