  • Binding value for NSTableView, but tooltip gets set as well

    I've set up an NSTableView in Interface Builder to be populated from an NSArray. Each value of the array represents one row in the table. The value is bound correctly, but as a side effect, the table cell's tooltip is set to the string representation of the bound object. In my case, the NSArray contains NSDictiorany objects and the tooltip looks like it could be the [... description] output of that dictionary. Very ugly... I don't want the tooltip to be set at all. I have other tables that have plain NSString values bound to them and they don't have a tooltip set automatically. Is there some Interface Builder magic going on? I tried to start with a blank project - same problem. I should add that the table cell is a custom implementation of NSTextFieldCell that uses an NSButtonCell instance to draw an image and a label into the table. The values are retrieved from the dictionary bound as value. Why is the tooltip set when I only bind the "value" attribute? Thanks in advance!

  • Connecting to an RMI object without registry

    I think I need to connect to a remote RMI object without going through the registry, but I don't know how. My situation is this: I'm implementing a simple job distribution service which consists of one distributor and multiple workers. The distributor has a registered RMI object to which clients connect to send jobs, and workers connect to accept jobs. Unfortunately the distributor and worker hosts are behind a firewall. To get to the distributor host I am tunneling two ports (one for the registry, one for the distributor object) via SSH, so I can get to the registry and the distributor from outside the firewall. To make that work I have to set "-Djava.rmi.server.hostname=localhost" on the distributor JVM so that the clients connect to their local, tunneled port, instead of the port on the actual distributor host, which is blocked. This creates a problem for the workers, though, because they need to connect to the distributor directly, but because of the "localhost" redirection they behave like clients and try to connect to a port on their own host, which is not available, because I'm not tunneling on the workers (it is impractical). Now, if I could connect to a remote object directly by giving the hostname and port, I could do away both with the registry on the distributor and the "localhost" hack, and make the workers connect properly. How do I do that? Or is there a different solution to this problem?

  • Can a Site get a Virus from using Curl?

    I have a script which uses simple php curl requests to get the contents from rss/atom feeds.... now my question is it possible that by using curl, is there a chance i might get a virus? Let's say I do a php curl request to a rss feed in feedburner (I know this site does not contain any viruses, but this is only an example) and let's say this site has a malicious virus of some kind. Is there a chance that I might inherit that virus too? If yes, what precautions can I do to make sure something like that never happens.     Under what circumstances would I see the above message? I have a single call to SQL Server which is wrapped in a call to TransactionScope. In our development and QA environments MSDTC is turned off and the call succeeds fine. However, in our production environment with MSDTC turned on we are failing with this call. Is there something that would cause this when I am sure we are not looking at a distributed transaction call at all?

  • How to diff two regions of the same file in Eclipse

    I'm a TDDer and often have a need to refactor out common or similar code. If it is exactly the same there is no big problem, Eclipse can almost always do that by itself. But to get there I'm finding myself often looking at similar, but not identical, code fragments in the same, or even different, files. It would be very handy if there was a possibility to mark two regions and get Eclipse (or some other tool) to mark the differences. With this information it would be much simpler to iteratively move the regions closer until they are the same and then activate the Extract Method refactoring. It can be done in Emacs of course, but I'd like to have this readily available from Eclipse. Any pointers?

My msbuild targets file contains the following section: <ItemGroup> <Targets Include="T1"> <Project>A\B.sln"</Project> <DependsOnTargets>The targets T1 depends on</DependsOnTargets> </Targets> <Targets Include="T2"> <Project>C\D.csproj"</Project> <DependsOnTargets>The targets T2 depends on</DependsOnTargets> </Targets> ... </ItemGroup> <Target Name="T1" DependsOnTargets="The targets T1 depends on"> <MSBuild Projects="A\B.sln" Properties="Configuration=$(Configuration)" /> </Target> <Target Name="T2" DependsOnTargets="The targets T2 depends on"> <MSBuild Projects="C\D.csproj" Properties="Configuration=$(Configuration)" /> </Target> As you can see, A\B.sln appears twice: As Project metadata of T1 in the ItemGroup section. In the Target statement itself passed to the MSBuild task. I am wondering whether I can remove the second instance and replace it with the reference to the Project metadata of the target, which name is given to the Target task? Exactly the same question is asked for the (Targets.DependsOnTargets) metadata. It is mentioned twice much like the %(Targets.Project) metadata. Thanks. EDIT: I should probably describe the constraints, which must be satisfied by the solution: I want to be able to build individual projects with ease. Today I can simply execute msbuild file.proj /t:T1 to build the T1 target and I wish to keep this ability. I wish to emphasize, that some projects depend on others, so the DependsOnTargets attribute is really necessary for them.

  • Why does order matter for ImageMagick's -colorspace operation?

    Starting with ImageMagick 6, the command style changed to solve a bunch of problems outlined in the Basic Usage document. That document does imply that for simple operations, one should only need to move the options from before the source file to between the source and output files to convert from the "old" style to the "new" style. However, this doesn't seem to work for the -colorspace operation. When I use the following command, I get an output file with the correct colors: convert -colorspace rgb input.pdf output.png But when I try to use the new command style, the -colorspace operation is never applied: convert input.pdf -colorspace rgb output.png Samples: Why does this occur?

  • Implementing a multi-state planner

    I've been asked to develop a system wherein employees can mark on a form their availability on a given day of the week - for instance an employee could mark themselves as available on a given time on a given week, and unavailable on some other time. It looks a little like this: Currently this works by rendering checkboxes within the table, picking up click events in each cell and marking the checkbox and hence the cell appropriately. I'm using the JQuery "click n drag checkbox" plugin from here. However, I've been informed that there could well be more than two states for a given cell (for instance available, unavailable, available in a given circumstance), in which case binding to a checkboxes checked value isnt going to be a lot of help. I've never used javascript or asp.net before and am unsure as to the best way to approach this problem. Ideally I could stick a data structure behind each cell which I could update to a certain state and then get my cell colour by binding to this - however I'm at something as a loss as how to best achieve this.

Since articles may be fairly lengthy I'd ideally like strikethrough and highlighting, similar to github and wikipedia for example.   • My UITableView has duplicated rows

    Im not sure why, but my UITableView, which isnt anything fancy, is showing repeating rows when it shouldnt be. It seems that the rows that get added when the user scrolls (i.e. the rows that are off the screen to start with) are getting the data for the wrong row index. Its almost like when a new cell is de-queued, it's using a cell that 'was' used, but wasn't cleaned up correctly.     I've got an array of characters which contains a string: char buf[MAXBUFLEN]; buf[0] = 'f'; buf[1] = 'o'; buf[2] = 'o'; buf[3] = '\0'; I'm looking to pass this string as an argument to the gtk_text_buffer_insert function in order to insert it into a GtkTextBuffer. What I can't figure out is how to convert it to a const gchar *, which is what gtk_text_buffer_insert expects as its third argument. Can anybody help me out?

    According to this python page, oursql looks very cool. oursql has real parameterization. oursql allows text or binary data to be streamed into the database and streamed out of the database, instead of requiring everything to be buffered in the client. oursql can both insert rows lazily and fetch rows lazily. oursql has unicode support on by default. So, Anyone start using it in the live projects and could share pros and cons over it?

Obviously, I thought, I need to change the way it works so that I return some form of stream so that no one object grows so big that the container dies and the content returned by successive messages is streamed to the UI as it comes in.
