• Online Advetisement/Banner Management System

  I am developing site for online advertisements where sellers and buyers can come and sell/buy advertisements. Just need to develop detailed statistics like click counts, from which page clicks are coming (one advertisement can be placed on many pages), from which position (top, right, left ...) click are coming (one advertisement can be placed in different position on single page) etc. I seen that most of the advertisement on popular websites has following format: http://ads.stackoverflow.com/a.aspx?Task=Click&ZoneID=3&CampaignID=838&AdvertiserID=50&BannerID=1335&SiteID=1&RandomNumber=1463177307&Keywords=c%23%2c.net%2ccollections%2cdictionary%2chashtable It has many parameters like ZoneID, CampaignID, AdvertiserID, BannerID, SiteID, RandomNumber, adid, adcrid, obid, obtid and way. I can use one advertisement (adid) in multiple pages. But can't figure out the way to distinguish between from which pages clicks are coming. How can I use such parameters to generate statistics which tell me the page from which clicks are coming?

  Greetings, can someone give me some advices or links that will help me to implement to following scenario. Page will be written in asp.net mvc. Authorization is going to be implemented by Memberships. The scenario is as follows: User1 has just logged in. After a while, User2 attempts to login with success. Then user1 should be notified that User2 has just logged in. Additionally User2 should be notified that User1 is online. How can I achieve something like that? It should also be possible for these users to write messages to each other. (chat like).

Do i have to index all my music files into database, or i can randomily pick file from file system and play it. 2. When should i use ajax to load new song(right after last finished, or few seconds before to get responce from server with link to file?) 3. Is it worth to use ajax, or better make list, that will play its full time and then start over?

• Free service that allows storing game data online?

  I have created a small game in Java and I would like to add the ability for a player to publish his highscores online. I'm willing to write the server software myself (it's easy these days with Ruby Mongrel, or even C++). All I just need to have some sort hosting. One solution that immediately comes to mind is Amazon EC2. But that's kind of expensive for my needs. Since the requirements are very minimal (I don't even need a website, just a web service) I think there may be a cheaper solution out there. Does anyone know of a free or cheap provider for this kind of thing?

  hi, I develop a web application it is working fine in local. When i upload the site in online through CuteFTP it is showing the error like this... Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off". Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL. please help me i place the but even though it is not working it is giving same error.   I need to open, read and insert items into an online SQLite database from an Android app. I know url, username and password. In JavaSE i would do the following: Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"); Connection dbConnection = DriverManager.getConnection(URL, USER, PASSWORD); I read that I can't do this in Android because there is not a JDBC Driver (there is a "SQLite.JDBCDriver" but it is not documented and not recommended). So which is the easiest way? I asked to Google but it looks like he either doesn't know.

  My organization is building a new version of our ticketing site and is looking for the best way to build an online waiting room when the number of users in our purchase path exceeds a certain limit. The best version of this queue would let new users in after existing users have either completed their purchase or have exceeded a timeout limit after entering the path. I'm trying to get an idea of how this has been implemented by other organizations. Has anyone out there done something similar or have any experience with this? We have some ideas, but I'd like to get a sense of what solutions have been tried and what problems those solutions have run up against. Just to be complete, this site is being built in Ruby on Rails, though I'd love to hear about how people have solved this regardless of platform.

• Calculating number of online visitors?

  i need to show the number of online visitors, but there is a problem with selecting algoritm to do it! maybe i must create a table in DB, where i'll store ip addresses of visitors and time of visit! by so i can show the count of ip addresses, which's time = NOW() - 10 minutes, for example...("now()-10 minutes" is just to show the logic, i know that this is not a function:) is this goog way to go? or maybe it's better to use AJAX methods to store the data? please give me an idea.   Hii, I need to develop an online quiz website that would be having MCQs. I would want to have one question appearing per page with a Numeric Pager so that the user can go back and forth. I tried using the FormView for displaying the questions and RadioButtons. I created a class QANS that would hold the answer selected by the user for the questions that he did answer so that I can later sum up the total Score. Now, the problem I'm facing is as below: Let the user select a RadioButton, say R, on a PageIndex, say I, and then go to some other page, say K. When the user returns back to page I, none of the RadioButtons is selected. I tried adding code for setting the Checked property of the RadioButton true in the Page_Load(), but it didn't help. I also tried the same with the PageIndexChanged and PageIndexChanging event, but the RadioButton doesn't get checked. The RadioButton that was selected for a particular question has been stored and I am able to print which one it was using Response.Write() but I'm not able to keep the RadioButton Checked. How shall this be done?

• Playing online video on iphone web, the iphone seems to cache the reference movie

  We are working on an online mobile video app, and are trying to play a reference movie on an iphone from the iphone browser. The problem is, the movie plays the first time, but when we try to play a different movie the second time, it doesnt. Quicktime gives a general error message sayin "Cannot Play Movie". More precisely this is what we are trying to do: Connect with an iPhone to a webserver that serves a reference movie (generated with quicktime pro). The ref movie automatically gets downloaded to the iphone by quicktime. Quicktime then chooses one of the 3 references in the reference movie, based on the connection speed, and tries to download the designated movie via a relative path. A servlet gets called and forwards the relative path to the right movie. This all works the first time. However the second time when we want download different movies, we get the quicktime error. Test case: Open reference movie 1 Movie plays in Quicktime Open reference movie 2 ERROR: Quicktime gives an error - Cannot Play Movie Shut down Iphone Turn Iphone on again Open reference movie 2 Iphone plays movie Open movie ERROR: Quicktime gives an error - Cannot Play Movie Did anyone encounter similar issues with quicktime and the use of reference movies and is there something we can do to work around that?

• Dynamic Collapsable Flow Chart Online

  Been looking through a number of other related posts relating to flowchart software. I have been asked to put together a document outlining some of the typical problems our users encounter with our software product. What I would like to do, is create an interactive/online flowchart that lets users choose from 4-5 overall headings on whats wrong. Then for this to dynamically expand more choices on pinpointing the problem, and so on and so on, until they can get a resolution to their problem. The key thing that I have not been able to find in some of the flowchart software out there, is having the click + expand element. - I dont want all options to appear to the end-user in a huge flow chart as it will distract away from their specific issue. - I want them to be able to click away and go down a specific avenue that will end up giving them some good things to try, based on their decisions/clicks. I was originally thinking of perhaps putting something in Flex or Silverlight (ideally someone would have a template out there) but am now thinking of taking advantage of 3rd party (ideally free) software. This will need to be hosted in a browser. Any ideas?

  We need to develop an application to sell music online. No need to specify that all will be done quite legally and in so doing, we have to plan an interface to pay artists. However, we are confronted with a question: What is the best way to store music on the server? Should we save it on server's disk from a HTTP fileupload? Should we save via FTP or would it be wiser to save it in the database? No need to say that we need it to be the most safiest as possible. So maybe an https is required here. But, we what you think is the best way? Maybe other idea? Because in all HTTP case, upload songs (for administration) is quite long and boring, but easly linkable to a song that admin create in his web application comparativly to an FTP application to upload song on server and then list directory in admin part to link the correct uploaded song to the song informations in database. I know that its maybe not quite clear, it's because i'm french but tell me and I will try to explain part that you don't understand.

• Ember Data Sycn - LocalStorage+REST+RealTime+Online/Offline

  We have a combination of requirements in terms o data access. Pre-load some reference data. We need reference data to survive browser restarts instead of just living in memory to avoid loading it all the time. I'm currently using the LocalStorageAdapter for that. Once we have it, we would like to sync changes (polling or using Socket.IO in the background and updating the LocalStorage could do the trick) There're other models that are more transactional, where we would need to directly go to the Server and get/save them. It would be nice to use something like the RESTAdapter for that. Lastly, there're some operations that should work off-line and changes should be synced later. To make it more concrete: * We pre-load vendor and "favorite products" into Local Storage. We work offline with those. * We need to sync server changes to vendor and product information. * If they search the full catalog, that requires them to be online. * When offline, we need to allow users to add something to their cart or even submit and order. We would like to queue this action and submit it when they have an Internet Connection. So a few questions are derived from this: * Is there a way to user RESTAdapter in combination with LocalStorage? * Is there some Socket.IO support? (Happy to do this part manually) * Is there Queueing support? Ideally at the Ember-Data level. I know we will have to do a lot of this manually and pull together the different lego pieces, but I wanted to ask for some perspective from experience Ember devs.

• youtube video downloaed succesfully on local, but on server(online) only 0 byte flv is downloading

  i m using php tube class to download youtube video. Video is automatically downloaded in a folder by submitting youtube video url. everything is working fine on local (XAMPP), but when i upload this to server(online), THEN ONLY 0 byte flv file is saved. i also debug the code both side( local and global ). i get the url like this( on local) http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=1jNWCFwqPvM&=vjVQa1PpcFMyYCECyfmYENWklpwXGyhVgJpSFPgNAEc%3D whereas on server i got link like this http://www.youtube.com/ get_video?video_id=1jNWCFwqPvM&t=vjVQa1PpcFNS3SPxIXi8hy-NF4qZFFrScDXCjGLLrLc%3D when i copy the link getting from local and paste on browser then a download box appear on browser, whereas when i copy the link getting from server and paste on browser then only a blank page appears please solve my problem, where is the error??? how to know that pear is installed or not on server? on server side sometimes i get link like http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=1jNWCFwqPvM&t=vjVQa1PpcFNS3SPxIXi8hy-NF4qZFFrScDXCjGLLrLc%3D but sometimes i get only http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=&t= please guide me how to solve these?   I recently made a Chat application in Visual Basic using PHP. What i want to do is in Visual Basic create a unique ID. That unique ID, has to be his filename. I'm not very good with PHP so what i want to know is: I want the unique ID to be the filename of the "Note". Like: $logfile= '{uniqueID.php}'; Whenever the user opens the program, it'll open his uniqueID.php file and he can edit that in my program. Long Story Short (TL;DR) Program generates uniqueID uniqueID is going to be a new file; {uniqueID}.php On next open it will check if {uniqueID}.php of him/her exists else it will make a new one. I know this isn't really secure but it's to learn something for myself.

• Tape Supplier in Canada

  I'm not sure if it's kosher to ask.. but where can one purchase good quality / well priced backup tapes within Canada, online? I'm asking because my current vendor, DataWrite, has sent me bad tapes for the 3rd time in a row. I have no idea where they get their product but when I put an order in for 20 tapes and 2 cleaning tapes and I have to call them up 4 times over the next 2 weeks, I expect those tapes to work. Well, like I said, this is the 3rd batch that I'm sending back and we've been dealing with them exclusively for well over 5 years so I thought I'd ask the pool of knowledge. I'm currently looking for DAT72 tapes but soon will be looking for LTO-3 and LTO-4. Thank you

• Best "Keep your music with you" setup

  I really enjoy listening to music, and because of this i have a lot of sources for it. This is not always a good thing since i have my music stored on a lot of devices ( home computer, work computer, online storage, ipod ) and sometimes its a bit difficult to have the same music in all places. Sometimes i dont have the same songs in all the places, i make a playlist in one place and want it in the other place etc. How do you keep your music in sync on all your devices. PS: i use both windows and linux.
