    I'm implementing serial key functionality in my application. User needs to enter at least 64bit number in order to register the application. Because typing number like 9,223,372,036,854,775,807 will take a while I want to compress it a bit. The first guess was to code this number hexadecimally but it still is quite long (0x7FFF FFFF FFFF FFFF). Is there any standard method in .NET to code this number alphanumerically using for example: digits, upper-case and lower-case characters?

    Hello, I'm looking for a special hash-function. Let's say I have a large list of strings, if I order them by their hash-values they should be ordered quasi randomly. The most important point is: it must be super fast. I've tried md5 and sha1 and they're using to much cpu power. Clashes are not a problem. I'm using javascript, so it shouldn't be too complicated to implement.

  • MySQL SELECT WHERE returning empty with long numbers, although they are there

    Alright, so basically the most simple query ever... I've done this a million times... SELECT * FROM purchased_items WHERE uid = '$uid' if $uid == 123 It works fine and returns all data in rows where uid is 123 if $uid == 351565051447743 It returns empty... I'm positive 351565051447743 is a possible uid in some rows, i literally copied and pasted it into the table. $uid is a string, and is being passed as a string. This is something i've done a million times, and i've never had this simple query not work. Any ideas why this is not working?

    So I have this list, we'll call it listA. I'm trying to get the [3] item in each list e.g. ['5.01','5.88','2.10','9.45','17.58','2.76'] in sorted order. So the end result would start the entire list over again with Santa at the top. Does that make any sense?   • Strange phantom header margin bug html/css

    So I'm creating this website and there is a strange untraceable bug that causes the header to move down 10 or so pixels. On a refresh the header could be correct or it could be broken. Trying to randomize the order of presentation during the experiment, I need to maximize the distance between the 4 display of the same original stimuli. Please Consider : Table[{j, i}, {j, Range[48]}, {i, Range[4]}] Where j is the original stimuli number and i the condition Output Sample : {{1, 1}, {1, 2}, {1, 3}, {1, 4}, {2, 1}, {2, 2}, {2, 3}, {2, 4}, ... {47, 1}, {47, 2}, {47, 3},{47, 4}, {48, 1}, {48, 2}, {48, 3}, {48, 4}} How could I shuffle the order of presentation of those 192 items, maximizing the distance between identical item with regard to j the original stimuli number ?

    I'm pretty new to Python programming and would appreciate some help to a problem I have... Basically I have multiple text files which contain velocity values as such: 0.259515E+03 0.235095E+03 0.208262E+03 0.230223E+03 0.267333E+03 0.217889E+03 0.156233E+03 0.144876E+03 0.136187E+03 0.137865E+00 etc for many lines... What I need to do is convert all the values in the text file that are less than 1 (e.g. 0.137865E+00 above) to an arbitrary value of 0.100000E+01. While it seems pretty simple to replace specific values with the 'replace()' method and a while loop, how do you do this if you want to replace a range? thanks

    I have a vector of strings: s <- c('abc1', 'abc2', 'abc3', 'abc11', 'abc12', 'abcde1', 'abcde2', 'abcde3', 'abcde11', 'abcde12', 'nonsense') I would like a regular expression to match only the strings that begin with abc and end with 3, 11, or 12. In other words, the regex has to exclude abc1 but not abc11, abc2 but not abc12, and so on. I thought that this would be easy to do with lookahead assertions, but I haven't found a way. Is there one? EDIT: Thanks to posters below for pointing out a serious ambiguity in the original post. In reality, I have many strings. They all end in digits: some in 0, some in 9, some in the digits in between. I am looking for a regex that will match all strings except those that end with a letter followed by a 1 or a 2. (The regex should also match only those strings that start with abc, but that's an easy problem.) I tried to use negative lookahead assertions to create such a regex. But I didn't have any success.

    I've been reading a lot about the disadvantages of using "order by rand" so I don't need update on that. I was thinking, since I only need a limited amount of rows retrieved from the db to be randomized, maybe I should do: $r = $db->query("select * from table limit 500"); for($i;$i<500;$i++) $arr[$i]=mysqli_fetch_assoc($r); shuffle($arr); (i know this only randomizes the 500 first rows, be it). would that be faster than $r = $db->("select * from table order by rand() limit 500"); let me just mention, say the db tables were packed with more than...10,000 rows. why don't you do it yourself?!? - well, i have, but i'm looking for your experienced opinion. thanks!

    Hi, I am having a problem. I have some prices in a checkout displayed, they are "discount prices." How can I get these values from my page and add them together to display in a new div? Trying to display a hebrew string that starts with a number, always displays the number at the end of the string like so: 1. ??? ???? ????? but I need the number to be displayed at the right side of the text- any solution to that? It happens with UILabel & UITextField & UITextView and trying to write the number at the left side also produce the same resault. Playing with combinations of UITextAlignment will doesn't help.
