The well-known characteristics and tiers of cloud computing have spawned myriad implementations by a host of vendors and system integrators. This library was built mainly to significantly facilitate the work and coding time, and makes it easy to create and work with HTTP requests. I think a big advantage of this library is that it is open-source, so everyone can contribute to make it even better. I started this project for personal use, and I really like the result. What is the right and proper way to publicize the project, I do think it will be handy to Android developers. So how can I make developers know this library exist?

  • Alt Key + Mouse Scroll is the New Text Zoom In/Out in NetBeans

    When the text zoom in/out, via "Ctrl Key + Mouse Wheel", was introduced in editors in a recent version of NetBeans IDE, many people cheered. Others booed because the combination "Ctrl Key + Mouse Wheel" is often pressed accidentally, especially when the user scrolls in the editor while intending to use some Ctrl shortcut, such as paste, which is Ctrl-v. So, in NetBeans IDE 7.2, the text zoom in/out is now "Alt Key + Mouse Wheel": http://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=212484 Remember that the text change only persists for as long as the file is open. So, if you've accidentally resized the text (i.e., in the current situation, prior to 7.2, where unintended side effects may happen because of Ctrl key usage), you can just close the file and reopen it to get the text size back to the way it was before.

  • Run database checks but omit large tables or filegroups - New option in Ola Hallengren's Scripts

    One of the things I've always wanted in DBCC CHECKDB is the option to omit particular tables from the check. The situation that I often see is that companies with large databases often have only one or two very large tables. They want to run a DBCC CHECKDB on the database to check everything except those couple of tables due to time constraints. I posted a request on the Connect site about time some time ago: https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/611164/dbcc-checkdb-omit-tables-option The workaround from the product team was that you could script out the checks that you did want to carry out, rather than omitting the ones that you didn't. I didn't overly like this as a workaround as clients often had a very large number of objects that they did want to check and only one or two that they didn't. I've always been impressed with the work that our buddy Ola Hallengren has done on his maintenance scripts. He pinged me recently about my old Connect item and said he was going to implement something similar. The good news is that it's available now.   • New Procurement Report for Transportation Sourcing

    Welcome to our fourth annual transportation procurement benchmark report. American Shipper, in partnership with the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), surveyed roughly 275 transportation buyers and sellers on procurement practices, processes, technologies and results. Some key findings: • Manual, spreadsheet-based procurement processes remain the most prevalent among transportation buyers, with 42 percent of the total • Another 25 percent of respondents use a hybrid platform, which presumably means these buyers are using spreadsheets for at least one mode and/or geography • Only 23 percent of buyers are using a completely systems-based approach of some kind • Shippers were in a holding pattern with regards to investment in procurement systems the past year • Roughly three-quarters of survey respondents report that transportation spend has increased in 2012, although the pace has declined slightly from last year’s increases • Nearly every survey respondent purchases multiple modes of transportation • The number of respondents with plans to address technology to support the procurement process has increased in 2012. About one quarter of respondents who do not have a system report they have a budget for this investment in the next two years.
