    I am busy preparing for exams, just doing some old exam papers. The question below is the only one I can't seem to do (I don't really know where to start). Any help would be appreciated greatly. Use the O(nlogn) comparison sort bound, the theta(n) bound for bottom-up heap construction, and the order complexity if insertion sort to show that the worst-case number of inversions in a heap is O(nlogn).

  • Magento My Account Layout XML Problem

    Hi there, I'm having issues getting the customer.xml layout file to work properly for the customer's "my account" pages. The navigation links and the previously ordered items that are usually on the left hand side of the page won't show up on the page, but if I change the reference name to "content" in the xml file, it shows up (except it's obviously then on the right hand side). I've checked the template it's referencing (2columns-left.phtml), and the getChildHtml('left') is there in the correct position. I've tried everything I can think of (changing the name of the reference in both the template and the layout xml, for example) to no avail. The templates that the layout is referencing are obviously working because they do show up when put into the "content" area. This installation of magento is version 1.3.1.1.     Is there a standard site structure format? The use of this would be for export and import into a CMS or framework to define the urls, content, metadata for a website.   • Why are pieces of my HTML showing up on the page and breaking it? Is it PHP related?

    I've been building a site in PHP, HTML, CSS, and using a healthy dose of jQuery javascript. The site looks absolutely fine on my Mac browsers, but for some reason, when my client uses PC Safari, she's seeing strange bits of my HTML show up on the page. Here are some (small) screenshot examples: Figure 1: This one is just a closing </li> tag that should've been on the Media li element. Not much harm done, but strange. Figure 2: Here this was part of <div class='submenu'> and since the div tag didn't render properly, the entire contents of that div don't get styled correctly by CSS. Figure 3: This last example shows what should have been <a class='top current' href=... but for some reason half of the HTML tag stops being rendered and just gets printed out. So the rest of that list menu is completely broken. Here's the code from the header.php file itself.   • Using an old PC case and power supply as a HDD Enclosure?

    I have 5 HDD and my computer is not handling the situation very well. hehe There are some towers that I can buy to put 4 of my drives out, but I'm thinking that I could use the power source of a failed computer I have and use it to power the 4 (or at least 3) of the drives. The data cables (SATA) will remain connected to the working computer (so no USB solution). The problem is that the power source will not work unless it is connected to the failing computer motherboard. Is there any way I could use the power source without plunging it to the old motherboard? Any "HOW-TO" links may be useful as well.

    I am using Monit 5.3.2 in my Linux box. I am monitoring some services using Monit. I want to run a script before the running the restart command. I have used the below conditions for the same. if does not exist for 2 times within 3 cycles then exec "/bin/bash -c 'touch /tmp/somefile'" as uid someuser and gid someuser if does not exist for 10 cycles then restart Unfortunately only the restart action is getting executed. Can anyone please help me to identify why the first rule is not executed ? Is there are any other way to solve the problem ?

    I own a Sony Reader PRS-600 ebook reader. I bought a ton of Manning Publications ebooks (DRM-free) recently. Many of the books are PDFs since not all the ones I wanted are available in epub format. The problem: Some of the PDF books I purchased have incorrect or missing metadata. Making things worse, the Sony Reader only displays the "Title" from the PDF metadata when displaying book titles in the reader's collection of books! The Reader doesn't display the filename. So, even though I have a PDF informatively named "Windows PowerShell In Action.pdf", it shows up as "untitled" in the Reader. Imagine how useful the Reader's list of book titles becomes when many are just "untitled" or "unnamed document" ! Yes, it is maddening. So – short of expecting the publisher to fix the files or Sony to add a filename-based list instead, I'm looking for a way to fix the PDF metadata. I can view the metadata with Adobe Reader, but it doesn't permit modification of the properties. Leading to: Question: Is there a tool – free, or cheap – and either for PC or Mac, that can modify the properties / metadata of a DRM-free PDF document? I want to correct "Title" and "Author" fields, specifically.

  • Is Dell's server software bundle necessary? (Poweredge 2950 in my case)

    Hi all, Dell includes a fair amount of software with its servers, but I'm having a hard time determining from the documentation what each of them does, and whether or not I should install it. Dell's support site (unless I'm doing it wrong) seems fairly opaque to me and its offerings fairly unstandardized in terms of their usage, so if possible I'd like to stray away from them. Specifically, I'm curious if any of the features offered are duplicated in something like Microsoft System Center. For additional background information, I'm working with a Poweredge 2950 that was just rebuilt with an expanded raid-6, but initially I just installed Server 2008 R2 directly instead of using the Build and Update utility. There's nothing of use on it at the moment so I'm totally open to wiping it again.

  • What would be better in my case - apache, nginx or lighttpd ?

    Hey everybody, I'm writing a php site that's expected to get about 200-300 concurrent users browsing it. When initializing the application will load about 30 php classes, some 10 maybe 15 images and a couple of css files. So my question is what else can I do (except optimizing my code and using apc/eaccelerator for php) to get as close as possible to those numbers of concurrent users ? Currently we haven't chosen a server for the site to be hosted on but most probably it'll be a VPS Dual core + 2 or maybe 4gb ram. Is it possible for such a server to handle that load ? Also how could I test it myself and be sure that it'll be able to handle it ? Thanks in advance, Me
