  • cygwin running commands with switches when ssh in

    - by Troz123
When I SSH into a Windows 2008 R2 box and try to run a command with switches like /cygdrive/c/directory/Reports.exe /ReportID=1 /DateRange=LastWeek the command just hangs and never finishes. I can see the Reports.exe spawn a process under the user but never finishes. If I RDP into the box open cygwin terminal and run the exact command it works. Any reason why I can't run the command when I SSH in?

  • What causes "system call failed" and there are hanging ie processes?

    - by TecBrat
System: Windows 7 Home Premium IE: 11.0.9600.17107 When I have had many, many apps and windows open, sometimes I'll try to access a folder and get a dialog that says "System Call Failed". I have found the fix for it is to open the task manager and End Process Tree on iexplore.exe and iexplore.exe *32. Often times there will be several of these even when I have closed all my browser windows. Does anyone have any experience with this error?

  • cygwin, PATH problem?

    - by jayjaypg22
I run a .ksh containing a awk call. awk.exe and his shortcut awk is in /bin/awk, /bin is in the PATH environment variable. But when I try to launch awk, I have this error message : bash: /usr/bin/awk: no such file or directory Why didn't bash look for it in the /bin folder too? edit : tar has the same rights, tar.exe is in /bin and can be listed in /usr/bin/, the exact same way than awk. Tar works fine whereas awk not.

  • VisualStudio2010 Debugging - The process cannot access the file ... because it is being used by anot

    - by Richard Forss
I'm unable to debug a WinForms C# application using the released version of Visual Studio 2010 Prof. I get the following error message after the second debugging run. Error 9 Unable to copy file "obj\x86\Debug\Arrowgrass Reports.exe" to "bin\Debug\Arrowgrass Reports.exe". The process cannot access the file 'bin\Debug\Arrowgrass Reports.exe' because it is being used by another process. I've tried a pre-build script to attempt to delete this file, but it's locked by Visual Studio. There are a few references to this on the net so it is a know problem. Does anyone have a hotfix or effective work-around?

  • How to use MFC with ATL

    - by nimo
Hi, I'm trying to write a COM EXE using ATL. I also have a MFC application. Both these applications would be run in local machines. Therefore, I don't need to run these two processes (COM EXE and MFC) separately. Can I create a single application (process) by combining these two applications ? Is there any possibility that I can embed my MFC code in ATL code, or is there a way to initialize the COM EXE within my MFC code ? Appreciate your help and concerns . Thank you

  • How do I sign exes and dlls with my code signing certificate

    - by Tim
(I purchased a code signing cert from Thawte and have been going out of my mind with frustration at the whole process. What I have from them are: .spc / .p7b file .pvk file (NOTE I do not have a pfx file from them. God knows why, but I have been fighting with their tech support for a week) In any case I find "help" links on their site and at MS for signcode.exe which is useless for me because I can't find that exe on my machine, however I do have signtool.exe. Unfortunately i am mystified at the command line parameters listed on this MS help site. Specifically, what parameters do I use and what values? I tried what I thought was obvious but it does not work at all. I can get the signing wizard to work, however I need this to work non-interactively in a hudson CI batch file. It really doesn't seem like it should be this difficult, but so far it is all black magic. thanks for any help

Hi: I'm trying to open cmd.exe on a new process and pass some code to programatically eject a device; but when trying to do this all I get is: "Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #3218: Error while writing data to NativeProcess.standardInput." Here's my code: private var NP:NativeProcess = new NativeProcess(); private function EjectDevice():void { var RunDLL:File = new File("C:\\Windows\\System32\\cmd.exe"); var NPI:NativeProcessStartupInfo = new NativeProcessStartupInfo(); NPI.executable = RunDLL; NP.start(NPI); NP.addEventListener(Event.STANDARD_OUTPUT_CLOSE, CatchOutput, false, 0, true); NP.standardInput.writeUTFBytes("start C:\\Windows\\System32\\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll"); NP.closeInput(); } I also tried with writeUTF instead of writeUTFBytes, but I still get the error. Does anyone have an idea of what I'm doing wrong?. Thanks for your time :) Edward.

  • Process.Start concatenating cmd line from previous invocation

    - by Ralph
Hi, I am using a Process.Start in .Net 2.0 to start a child win32 app. Process.start ( "SomeProcess.exe", "<Cmd line>" ); The process runs fine but and the user then closes this window. However if I then run the same process again in the same session, the cmd line recieved by the called process is now a concatentation of the previous call. I.e SomeProcess.exe recieves the cmd line " SomeProcess.exe ". Has anyone else seen this behaviour before? Any help much appreciated. Ralph.

  • deleting registry key, using Visual Studio 2008 setup and deployment project in windows 7

    - by Isuru
I have created a setup and deployment project in Visual Studio 2008 Professional. I'm using Visual C++, and in it I have two exe files which run under custom actions. One is running in commit and other in uninstall. Purpose is to add a registry key at install time and remove it at uninstall. It works perfectly on Windows XP but when I change to Windows 7 and run the setup, only the key-adding part works. The key doesn't get deleted at uninstall. But when I take the uninstall exe file out from the setup and run it separately on Windows 7, (not through the setup, by just double-clicking on the exe) it removes the registry entry perfectly. Any idea what the problem is?

  • How to resolve this VC++ 6.0 linker error?

    - by fishdump
This is a Windows Console application (actually a service) that a previous guy built 4 years ago and is installed and running. I now need to make some changes but can't even build the current version! Here is the build output: --------------------Configuration: MyApp - Win32 Debug-------------------- Compiling resources... Compiling... Main.cpp winsock.cpp Linking... LINK : warning LNK4098: defaultlib "LIBCMTD" conflicts with use of other libs; use /NODEFAULTLIB:library Main.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _socket_dontblock Debug/MyApp.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals Error executing link.exe. MyApp.exe - 2 error(s), 1 warning(s) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- If I use /NODEFAULTLIB then I get loads of errors. The code does not actually use _socket_noblock but I can't find anything on it on the 'net. Presumably it is used by some library I am linking to but I don't know what library it is in. --- Alistair.

  • Visual Studio 2008 macro only works from the Macro IDE, not the Macro Explorer

    - by Cat
Edit: Creating a new module in the same VSMacros project fixed the problem. The following macro only works if I open the Macro IDE from Visual Studio and run the macro from there. It'd be much more useful if I could just right click the macro from the Macro Explorer from my Visual Studio instance. I must be doing something obviously wrong, but I've never worked with VS macros before. The MessageBox does not appear in either case. Option Strict Off Option Explicit Off Imports System Imports EnvDTE Imports EnvDTE80 Imports EnvDTE90 Imports System.Diagnostics Imports System.Security.Principal Imports System.Windows.Forms Public Module AttachToSdtProcess Sub AttachToSdtProcess() Try 'If MessageBox.Show("Attach to SDT.exe", "Caption", _ ' MessageBoxButtons.OKCancel) = DialogResult.Cancel Then 'Return 'End If Dim dbg2 As EnvDTE80.Debugger2 = DTE.Debugger Dim trans As EnvDTE80.Transport = dbg2.Transports.Item("Default") Dim compName As String = WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name compName = compName.Substring(0, compName.IndexOf("\")) Dim proc2 As EnvDTE80.Process2 = _ dbg2.GetProcesses(trans, compName).Item("TheExecutable.exe") If proc2 Is Nothing Then MessageBox.Show("Could not find TheExecutable.exe") End If proc2.Attach2(dbgeng) Catch ex As System.Exception MsgBox(ex.Message) End Try End Sub End Module

  • Not able to access UNC share after doing the Imperosnation

    - by Nitin Jain
We have to access a network UNC share which is say allowing access to USER1. Our exe is running with LOCAL SYSTEM account. In the exe, we do Impersonation with "USER1" credentials so that exe can access UNC share. But after doing the impersonation, we are still getting error "Access denied" while accessing that UNC share. After the impersonation, we are enabling following privileges on the Impersonated thread: SE_BACKUP_NAME SE_CHANGE_NOTIFY_NAME SE_CREATE_GLOBAL_NAME SE_DEBUG_NAME SE_IMPERSONATE_NAME SE_RESTORE_NAME SE_SECURITY_NAME SE_TAKE_OWNERSHIP_NAME SE_TCB_NAME Do we need to enable any other privileges or we are missing something else? Thanks -- Nitin

  • JKS, CER, SignCode issue

    - by Serge
Currently, I've got an intresting problem about signing an EXE file using the SignCode tool from Microsoft and a certificate (from GlobalSign)... So, we've bought a new certificate as the current one will expire in short time. The original format is JKS. I exported this certificate from .JKS to .CER so I can install on local machine in the Root Trusted Certificates section. I've installed it and if I open the certmgr.msc I can see it, but if I open the Control Panel - Internet Options - Content - Certificates - Root Trusted Certificates etc then I can't see it... I thought it should be here as well. When I run the signcode.exe tool I get the "unable to open a csp provider with the correct private key" error message. Note! The signcode.exe command is correct, because it works if I test with the old certificate. Please advise. Thank you in advance! Serge

  • Best practice in this situation?

    - by Steve
My Delphi program relies heavily on Outlook automation. Outlook versions prior to 2007-SP2 tend to get stuck in memory due to badly written addins and badly written Outlook code. If Outlook is stuck, calling CreateOleObject('Outlook.Application') or GetActiveObject ... doesn't return and keeps my application hanging till Outlook.exe is closed in the task manager. I've thought of a solution, but I'm unsure whether it's good practice or not. I'd start Outlook with CreateOleObject in a separate thread, wait 10 seconds in my main thread and if Outlook hangs (CreateOleObject doesn't return), offer the user to kill the Outlook.exe process from my program. But since I don't want to force the user to kill the Outlook.exe proccess, as an alternative I also need a way to kill the new thread in my program which keeps hanging now. My questions are: a, Is this good practice b, How can I terminate a hanging thread in Delphi without leaking memory? Is there a way?

  • How to change the security level of a local assembly to internet or customized permission set?

    - by Jamebo
I built a assembly which is a class library, for example lib.dll . And I also have a application to access this lib, for example test.exe. I changed the security permission for the test.exe to "intranet". At the same time, I want to change lib.dll to "Internet" like this: (Because I want to do some testing for security.) CasPol.exe -m -ag 1.2 -strong -file lib.dll lib 1.0.0.0 Internent But it seems the lib.dll can not get the security permission as I wanted. What is wrong with the command? Or maybe there are some other better solutions? Thanks -Jamebo

  • How can I use Code Contracts in a C++/CLI project?

    - by Daniel Wolf
I recently stumbled upon Code Contracts and have started using them in my C# projects. However, I also have a number of projects written in C++/CLI. For C# and VB, Code Contracts offer a handy configuration panel in the project properties dialog. For a C++/CLI project, there is no such panel. From the documentation, I got the impression that adding Code Contracts support to a C++/CLI project should be a simple matter of calling some external tools as part of the build process (namely ccrefgen.exe, cccheck.exe, and ccrewrite.exe). However, the number of command line options and restrictions concerning the call sequence have me somewhat intimidated. Can anybody point me to a simple way to run the Code Contracts tools as an automated part of the build process in Visual Studio?

  • Microsoft Detours

    - by Bruce
I am new to Microsoft Detours. I have installed it to trace the system calls a process makes. I run the following commands which I got from the web syelogd.exe /q C:\Users\xxx\Desktop\log.txt withdll.exe /d:traceapi.dll C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe I get the log file. The problem is I don't fully understand what is happening here. How does detours work? How does it trace the system calls? Also I don't know how to read the output in log.txt. Here is one line in log.txt 20101221060413329 2912 50.60: traceapi: 001 GetCurrentThreadId() Finally I want to get the stack trace of the process. How can I get that?

  • Calling a protected Windows executable with Perl

    - by Jake
I'm trying to write a perl script that determines which users are currently logged into Windows by using query.exe (c:\Windows\system32\query.exe). Perl is unable to access this file, unable to execute it, even unable to see that it exists, as I've found with the following code: print `dir c:\\windows\\system32\\query*`; This produces the following output: 07/13/2009 05:16 PM 1,363,456 Query.dll 1 File(s) 1,363,456 bytes 0 Dir(s) 183,987,658,752 bytes free I've checked the user executing the script using perl's getlogin function, and it returns the name of a member of the local Administrators group (specifically, me). I've also tried adding read/execute permissions for "Everyone", but windows keeps giving me access denied errors when I try to modify this file's permissions. Finally, I've tried running perl.exe as an administrator but that doesn't fix the problem either. Is this something I can solve by changing some settings in Windows? Do I need to add something to my perl script? Or is there just no way to grant perl access to some of these processes?
