• Example map-reduce oozie program not working on CDH 4.5

  I am using Hadoop (CDH 4.5) on my mac since some time now, and do run map reduce jobs regularly. I installed oozie recently (again, CDH4.5) following instructions at: http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh4/cdh/4/oozie-3.3.2-cdh4.5.0/DG_QuickStart.html, and tried to run sample programs provided. However, it always fails with the following error. Looks like the workflow is not getting run at all. The Console URL field in the Job info is also empty. Could someone please help on this? • nhibernate configure and buildsessionfactory time

  Hi, I'm using Nhibernate as the OR/M tool for an asp.net application and the startup performance is really frustrating. Part of the problem is definitely me in my lack of understanding but I've tried a fair bit (understanding is definitely improving) and am still getting nowhere. Currently ANTS profiler has that the Configure() takes 13-18 seconds and the BuildSessionFActory() as taking about 5 seconds. From what i've read, these times might actually be pretty good, but they were generally talking about hundreds upon hundreds of mapped entities...this project only has 10. I've combined all the mapping files into a single hbm mapping file and this did improve things but only down to the times mentioned above... I guess, are there any "Traps for young players" that are regularly missed...obvious "I did this/have you enabled that/exclude file x/mark file y as z" etc... I'll try the serialize the configuration thing to avoid the Configure() stage, but I feel that part shouldn't be that long for that amount of entities and so would essentially be hiding a current problem... • Application stopped unexpectedly at launch

  I've run this on a device and on the emulator. The app stops unexpectedly on both. I have not a clue what is wrong currently. It uses Google API Maps I compiled with Google Api 7. • Code that Worked with MultiView fails with Wizard ASP.NET

  I originally created a process that occurred by transitioning between views in a multiview and it worked fine. Now, I've moved this same code into a ASP.NET Wizard and it keeps throwing an error at the second step. • TableView Cells Use Whole Screen Height

  I read through this tutorial Appcelerator: Using JSON to Build a Twitter Client and attempted to create my own simple application to interact with a Jetty server I setup running some Spring code. I basically call a get http request that gives me a bunch of contacts in JSON format. I then populate several rows with my JSON data and try to build a TableView. All of that works, however, my tableView rows take up the whole screen. Each row is one screen. I can scroll up and down and see all my data, but I'm trying to figure out what's wrong in my styling that's making the cells use the whole screen. My CSS is not great, so any help is appreciated. • Does anyone have database, programming language/framework suggestions for a GUI point of sale system

  Our company has a point of sale system with many extras, such as ordering and receiving functionality, sales and order history etc. Our main issue is that the system was not designed properly from the ground up, so it takes too long to make fixes and handle requests from our customers. Also, the current technology we are using (Progress database, Progress 4GL for the language) incurs quite a bit of licensing expenses on our customers due to mutli-user license fees for database connections etc. After a lot of discussion it is looking like we will probably start over from scratch (while maintaining the current product at least for the time being). We are looking for a couple of things: Create the system with a nice GUI front end (it is currently CHUI and the application was not built in a way that allows us to redesign the front end... no layering or separation of business logic and gui...shudder). Create the system with the ability to modularize different functionality so the product doesn't have to include all features. This would keep the cost down for our current customers that want basic functionality and a lower price tag. The bells and whistles would be available for those that would want them. Use proper design patterns to make the product easy to add or change any part at any time (i.e. change the database or change the front end without needing to rewrite the application or most of it). This is a problem today because the Progress 4GL code is directly compiled against the database. Small changes in the database requires lots of code recompiling. Our new system will be Linux based, with a possibility of a client application providing functionality from one or more windows boxes. So what I'm looking for is any suggestions on which database and/or framework or programming language(s) someone might recommend for this sort of product. Anyone that has experience in this field might be able to point us in the right direction or even have some ideas of what to avoid. We have considered .NET and SQL Express (we don't need an enterprise level DB), but that would limit us to windows (as far as I know anyway). I have heard of Mono for writing .NET code in a Linux environment, but I don't know much about it yet. We've also considered a Java and MySql based implementation. To summarize we are looking to do the following: Keep licensing costs down on the technology we will use to develop the product (Oracle, yikes! MySQL, nice.) Deliver a solution that is easily maintainable and supportable. A solution that has a component capable of running on "old" hardware through a CHUI front end. (some of our customers have 40+ terminals which would be a ton of cash in order to convert over to a PC). Suggestions would be appreciated. • Saving images only available when logged in

  Hi, I've been having some trouble getting images to download when logged into a website that requires you to be logged in. The images can only be viewed when you are logged in to the site, but you cannot seem to view them directly in the browser if you copy its location into a tab/new window (it redirects to an error page - so I guess the containing folder has be .htaccess-ed). • UI not updated while using ProgressMonitorInputStream in Swing to monitor compressed file decompress

  I'm working on swing application that relies on an embedded H2 database. Because I don't want to bundle the database with the app(the db is frequently updated and I want new users of the app to start with a recent copy), I've implemented a solution which downloads a compressed copy of the db the first time the application is started and extracts it. Since the extraction process might be slow I've added a ProgressMonitorInputStream to show to progress of the extraction process - unfortunately when the extraction starts, the progress dialog shows up but it's not updated at all. It seems like to events are getting through to the event dispatch thread. I haven't implemented this as an SwingWorker since I need to wait for the extraction anyways before I can proceed with the initialization of the program. This method get invoked before the main JFrame of the application is visible. I don't won't a solution based on SwingWorker + property changed listeners - I think that the ProgressMonitorInputStream is exactly what I need, but I guess I'm not doing something right. I'm using Sun JDK 1.6.18. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• C socket: problem with connect() and/or accept() between clients. 111: Connection refused

  Hello ladies and gents, I'm having a bit of problem with accept(). I have a multiple clients and one server. The clients can connect and communicate just fine with server. But at one point, I need some clients to be directly connected to each other and I'm having a bit of difficulty there. The clients have bunch of threads going on, where one of them is handle_connection() and it has a while(1), looping forever to listen() and accept() whatever incoming connections. Whenever a client tries to connect() to other client, connect() returns an error, 111: Connection Refused. I know I have the right IP address and right port (I have specified a port just for between-client connections). The client that is waiting for connection doesn't notice anything, no new connection, nada. I copied some parts of the code, in hopes that someone can point out what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for any inputs! This is all client side code. void * handle_connections(void * arg) is a thread that loops forever to accept() any incoming connections. My server has a very similar thang going on and it works very well. (not sure why it doesn't work here..) • log-back and thirdparty writing to stdout. How to stop them getting interleaved.

  First some background. I have a batch-type java process run from a DOS batch script. All the java logging goes to stdout, and the batch script redirects the stdout to a file. (This is good for me because I can ECHO from the script and it gets into the log file, so I can see all the java JVM command line args, which is great for debugging.) I may not I use slf4j API, and for the backend I used to use log4j, but recently switched to logback-classic. Although all my application code uses slf4j, I have a third party library that does it's own logging (not using a standard API) which also gets written to stdout. The problem is that sometimes log lines get mixed up and don't cleanly appear on separate lines. So logback must be doing something different. The problem seems to be that although PrintStream.write(byte buf[], int off, int len) is synchronized, however I can see in ch.qos.logback.core.joran.spi.ConsoleTarget that System.out.write(int b) is the only write method called. So inbetween logback outputting each byte, the thirdparty library is managing to write a whole string to the stdout. (Not only is this cause me a problem, but it must also be a little inefficient?) Is there any other fix to this interleaving problem than patching the code to ConsoleTarget so it implments the other write methods? Any nice work arounds. Or should I just file a bug report? But in Message class and xxxHibernateDaoImpl class, the messageSource is still null. • Problem with script to add/delete from database

  Ok - the user enters a product code, price and name using a form - the script then either adds it to the database or deletes it from the database. If the user is trying to delete a product that is not in the database they get a error message. Upon successful adding/deleting they also get a message. • Table Name is null in the sqlite database in android device

  I am building a simple app which stores some contacts and retrieves contacts in android phone device. I have created my own database and a table and inserting the values to the table in phone. My phone is not rooted. So I cannot access the files, but I see that values are stored in the table. And tested on a emulator also. Till here it is fine. Display all the contacts in a list by fetching data from table. This is also fine. But the problem is When I am trying to delete the record, it shows the table name is null in the logcat(not an exception), and the data is not deleted. But in emulator the data is getting deleted from table. I am not able to achieve this through phone.   My Acer Aspire V5-122P-61456G50NSS, model - MS2377, has crashed all together. It came preloaded with Windows 8 and I upgraded to windows 8.1 3-4 days before crash. Unfortunately I did not make any recovery media before the crash. While accessing the eRecovery on Acer store with my PC's serial no. it says nor RCD available for this. I tried recovery by loading recovery manager (Left Alt + F10) Various other advanced startup options (like holding shift key while turning on or pressing F8 key) returns nothing but no luck. However I am able to enter BIOS. After doing research on above condition on various PC forums, now my questions: I read that a 'Windows Recovery Drive' can be made on any PC running Windows 8 and could be used to repair another PC. Does anybody in SuperUser community have that (or a link to download the same from somewhere? as I'm unable to find anybody running windows 8 among my friends). I downloaded a window 8 Pro ISO and made a bootable USB. I was able to go to 'Repair Your Computer' option and after going to 'Reset your PC' option found that my recovery partition has gone/missing. I tried all options available but no luck. Then I tried to install with that Windows 8 Pro ISO but got message: "The product key entered does not match any of the Windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key". before this message I did not got any form to fill product key! Does this mean that the installer was picking up the key from BIOS (OEM Key)? and may be the installation did not succeeded because OEM Windows version was Window 8 and I was trying to install Windows 8 Pro. If that is the case then, could somebody please send me link to download an Windows 8 ISO? I am helpless and couldn't find anywhere on internet (without having to pay for a new key, but I should not pay as the installer will use OEM key).

  Hello all, We're using PfSense as an internal router/firewall (no connection to WAN). Using the Web-GUI, under Status --- Interfaces, there's one particular interface where I have some errors: In/out errors 3513/0 I then SSHed to the firewall to validate the info provided by the WebGUI and here's the output: # netstat -ni -I bce2 Name Mtu Network Address Ipkts Ierrs Opkt Oerrs Coll bce2 1500 <Link#3> 00:23:7d:cd:a2:a2 1404522323 3513 749797131 0 0 bce2 1500 10.42.1.0/24 10.42.1.24 6 - 6 - - As you can see, both present the same info (errors on incoming packets). I switched cables, changed network card, changed port on switch and I still see the errors. My 2 questions really are: 1) Is there any way I could get more info on the nature of these errors? or is this all I can get? 2) Should I be worried about this? As you can see, the errors are a VERY LOW percentage of all the total incoming packets. In other words, is this normal on a high-traffic gigabit interface? Thanks! JFA
