• Sync framework 2.0 smart device to server

  We have a requirement very similar to that shown in the Occasionally Connected Application (OCA) diagram on the Introduction to Sync Framework Database Synchronization article. We can't however find any examples on how the clients at the bottom are syncing between each other. Particularly, how a smart device syncs with another client each having a local .sdf database. There are lots of examples of a smart device to a server over wcf where the server is running full sql but not smart device to server with local cache. Does anyone have any ideas or examples. Thanks

  I have a "server" table which has a column named 'SN' in mysql, when do query to retrive servers with some sns from 'sn1' to 'sn10000', we can: select * from server where sn in ('sn1','sn2','sn3',...'sn10000'); If there is only one sn in 'sn1'-'sn10000' which not exists in database, then the query above will retrive 9999 rows of result. The question is how can I easily get which one in 'sn1'-'sn10000' is not exists in database except the additional work, such as handling the result with shell script etc. I have an ugly sql like below can use: select * from (select 'sn1' as sn union select 'sn2' union select 'sn3' .... union select 'sn10000') as SN where not exists (select id from server where server.sn=SN.sn); Is Anyone has other better methods? When I create a connection via the designer, the "Choose Data Source" dialog only lists the following data sources: Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 Microsoft SQL Server Database File When I create a connection on the Server explorer the list is complete with : Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5, Microsoft SQL Server Database File, Microsoft SQL Server Compact, ODBC etc. Please help me out. I need to use SQL Server Compact.   Hey All I have a database with around 40 tables and need to rename every index column. IE USER a table has a bunch of fields like user_id | user_username | user_password | etc... I want to rename the ID columns just to id ie id | user_username | user_password | etc... But I keep getting mysql errors on the alter table command ie. ALTER TABLE database RENAME COLUMN user_id to id; Plus many different variations. Whats the best way to do this ? Hope you can advise

• Github + keep file but dont track changes

  I have a codeigniter framework thats using github. Within this application I have several files that i will want to have in the repo but not track any changes on.. Example is: i deploy a new installation of this framework to a new client, i want the following files to be downloaded (they have default values 'CHANGEME') and i just have to make changes specific to this client IE(database credentials, email address info, custom css styling). // the production config files i want the files but they need to be updated to specific client needs application/config/production/config.php application/config/production/database.php application/config/production/tank_auth.php // index page, defines the environment (production|development) /index.php // all of the css/js cache (keep the folder but not the contents) /assets/cache/* // production user based styling (color, fonts etc) needs to be updated specific to client needs /assets/frontend/css/user/frontend-user.css currently if i run git clone [email protected]:user123/myRepo.git httpdocs and then i edit the files above, all is great.. until i release a hotfix or patch and run git pull. All of my changes are then overwritten.

  I have an application loading CAD data (Custom format), either from the local filesystem specifing an absolute path to a drawing or from a database. Database access is realized through a library function taking the drawings identifier as a parameter. the identifiers have a format like ABC 01234T56-T, while my paths a typical windows Paths (eg x:\Data\cadfiles\cadfile001.bin). I would like to write a wrapper function Taking a String as an argument which can be either a path or an identifier which calls the appropriate functions to load my data. Like this: Function CadLoader(nameOrPath : String):TCadData; My Question: How can I elegantly decide wether my string is an idnetifier or a Path to a file? Use A regexp? Or just search for '\' and ':', which are not appearing in the Identifiers?

  Hello.I have a page "index.php" where i have a link called "add_users.php".In "add_users.php",i accept user information and come back to the same page "index.php" where information comes through post action and gets inserted into the database.When i refresh the page orhit back button,resend box appears.I went through many solution where they asked me to create third page.I tried doing that as follows:After inserting values in database,I redirected ht page as header('Location:http://mysite.com/thankyou.php, and in thankyou.php I again redirected the page to index.php.But getting warning as Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by.... provide me a better solution. • Reset JPA generated value between tests

  I'm running spring + hibernate + JUnit with springJunit4runner and transactional set to default rollback I'm using in-memory derbydb as Database. Hibernate is used as a JPA Provider and I am successfully testing CRUD kinds of stuff. However, I have a problem with JPA and the behaviour of @GeneratedValue If I run one of my tests in isolation, two entitys are persisted with id 1 and 2. If i run the whole test suite the ids are instead 6 and 7. Spring does rollbacks just fine so there are only these two entitys in the database after addition and of course zero before. But behaviour of @GeneratedValue doesn't allow me to reliable findById unless I would return the Id from the dao.add(Entity e) //method I don't feel like doing that for the sake of testing, or is it a good practise to return the entity that was persisted so I should be doing it anyway?

• Entity framework Update fails when object is linked to a missing child

  I’m having trouble updating an objects child when the object has a reference to a nonexising child record. eg. Tables Car and CarColor have a relationship. Car.CarColorId CarColor.CarColorId If I load the car with its color record like so this var result = from x in database.Car.Include("CarColor") where x.CarId = 5 select x; I'll get back the Car object and it’s Color object. Now suppose that some time ago a CarColor had been deleted but the Car record in question still contains the CarColorId value. So when I run the query the Color object is null because the CarColor record didn’t exist. My problem here is that when I attach another Color object that does exist I get a Store update, insert error when saving. Car.Color = newColor Database.SaveChanges(); It’s like the context is trying to delete the nonexisting color. How can I get around this?

  I am trying to intercept a asp.net web request and based on a lookup replace the page thats going to be rendered to the client. example: is a request for "/about-us" comes to my web server, i will first see if i have a version of this in the database, otherwise i will revert to flat files. The version i will retrieve from the database will be a .aspx page that has to be rendered and containt web controls and inline serverside script. What is the best way to go about this? I have tried overriding the CreateHtmlTextWriter method but this seems too late in the process as the TextWriter passed to this method is already instantiated. I have also tried to Implement my own PageHandlerFactory but this seems to create an instance of Page of which i cannot seem to override its internal setting of the Response.Output stream. Amd i barking up the wrong tree here? what is the best approach to take here?

  On a given server, I have a set of daemons each of which has its own configuration file. I would like to use git to manage the configuration files editing during time and always have the option to rollback to the "factory defaults" in regards to all files or a specific one. For instance, given the following structure: $ ls -l total 0 -rw-r--r-- 1 tzury tzury 0 2011-01-05 06:36 bar.conf -rw-r--r-- 1 tzury tzury 0 2011-01-05 06:36 baz.conf -rw-r--r-- 1 tzury tzury 0 2011-01-05 06:36 foo.conf Assuming all those .conf files are stored in a git repository, I want to be able to restore all files into their original shape (that would be the first git commit). Yet, I would also like to be able to rollback a specific file to the factory defaults, while others remain up to date.

• Cascading MVC controllers with CatchAll Routes

  Hi, I have an MVC app which has its routes defined with the final route being a catch all route to a "PageController" for a database driven collection of pages. What I want to achieve is to be able to plugin to the app a second controller to the catch all route which the first controller passes on to if it does not find the url recieved in the database. Effectively I want to queue up controllers with catch all actions: public ActionResult PageCatchall(string url) { var page = repository.Get<Page>(string url); if (page != null) { // Handle the request return View(page) } // Otherwise pass to a new controller ???? } Anyone have any good ideas as to how to solve this? I have tried RedirectToAction but that requires that the next controller has a different route to the action. I have tried ActionInvoker but this failed to work the way I did it.

• How do I execute an action in drupal after each time a node is saved?

  I'm developing an Action in Drupal which is supposed to activate after saving a node, exporting content to XML (which includes data from the node that was just saved), using the "Trigger: After saving an updated post" trigger. Unfortunately this action actually happens right before the information from the recently saved post is saved to the database. ie. when looking at the XML later, I find that the most recent change I made was not included. Saving after editing a different node will restore the previously missing data. How can I get my action to fire after the saving process is complete?

  Hi, I'm working on an application that analizes music similarity. In order to do that I proccess audio data and store the results in txt files. For each audio file I create 2 files, 1 containing and 16 values (each value can be like this:2.7000023942731723) and the other file contains 16 rows, each row containing 16 values like the one previously shown. I'd like to store the contents of these 2 file in a table of my MySQL database. My table looks like: Name varchar(100) Author varchar (100) in order to add the content of those 2 file I think I need to use the BLOB data type: file1 blob file2 blob My question is how should I store this info in the data base? I'm working with Java where I have a double array containing the 16 values (for the file1) and a matrix containing the file2 info. Should I process the values as strings and add them to the columns in my database? Thanks

  I have a python script which reads email addresses from a database for a particular date, example today, and sends out an email message to them one by one. It reads data from MySQL using the MySQLdb module and stores all results in a dictionary and sends out emails using : rows = cursor.fetchall () #All email addresses returned that are supposed to go out on todays date. for row is rows: #send email However, my hosting service only lets me send out 500 emails per hour. How can I limit my script from making sure only 500 emails are sent in an hour and then to check the database if more emails are left for today or not and then to send them in the next hour. The script is activated using a cron job.

I'm using the express version of SQL 2008, with SQL Server Management Studio. The following are 2 questions I've been struggling with for a while: 1) How do I export the DB schema for the database? The table structure, etc.? 2) How do I export all the data in the database? • SQL version control methodology

  There are several questions on SO about version control for SQL and lots of resources on the web, but I can't find something that quite covers what I'm trying to do. First off, I'm talking about a methodology here. I'm familiar with the various source control applications out there and I'm familiar with tools like Red Gate's SQL Compare, etc. and I know how to write an application to check things in and out of my source control system automatically. If there is a tool which would be particularly helpful in providing a whole new methodology or which have a useful and uncommon functionality then great, but for the tasks mentioned above I'm already set. The requirements that I'm trying to meet are: The database schema and look-up table data are versioned DML scripts for data fixes to larger tables are versioned A server can be promoted from version N to version N + X where X may not always be 1 Code isn't duplicated within the version control system - for example, if I add a column to a table I don't want to have to make sure that the change is in both a create script and an alter script The system needs to support multiple clients who are at various versions for the application (trying to get them all up to within 1 or 2 releases, but not there yet) Some organizations keep incremental change scripts in their version control and to get from version N to N + 3 you would have to run scripts for N-N+1 then N+1-N+2 then N+2-N+3. Some of these scripts can be repetitive (for example, a column is added but then later it is altered to change the data type). We're trying to avoid that repetitiveness since some of the client DBs can be very large, so these changes might take longer than necessary. Some organizations will simply keep a full database build script at each version level then use a tool like SQL Compare to bring a database up to one of those versions. The problem here is that intermixing DML scripts can be a problem. Imagine a scenario where I add a column, use a DML script to fill said column, then in a later version that column name is changed. Perhaps there is some hybrid solution? Maybe I'm just asking for too much? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated though. • Is it possible to deny access to SQL Server from specific programs?

  Currently one of our databases (SQL Server 2008) is accessed via a number of different mechanisms: .Net SqlClient Data Provider; SQL Server Management Studio; various .Net applications and 2007 Microsoft Office system (basically Excel). I see that in the sys.dm_exec_sessions DMV it is possible to see the program name of the program accessing the database for the current sessions. My question is: is it possible for one to deny access from a particular named program? First prize would be if this could be done for any named program, but we would gain a great deal of benefit from being able to deny access to this specific database from all Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel).

• Optimal way to store and pass a date to Javascript

  I need to store a date-time value in MySQL and subsequently display it on a webpage. Due to its flexibility I usually chose to store a Unix timestamp in the database and convert it with PHP's date() to the desired format. This time however I would like to use MySQL's datetime field (mostly due to 2038) and apply the browser's timezone (hence I cannot simply format it on the server and pass the string to the client). I thought of storing the date as UTC datetime in the database and send it as well-defined format to the client, where it will be further processed. Here I would like to avoid a Unix timestamp but everything else might add additional overhead in processing. Is there any best practice as far as date processing is concerned in a MySQL, PHP, JQuery environment? Thanks.
