• PerformancePoint dashboard permissions problem in MOSS

  I have a PerformancePoint dashboard running in MOSS 2007 portal. The dashboard consists of one SSRS 2005 report, running in SharePoint Integrated mode. NT Authority\Authenticated Users have read permissions to the report library containing the SSRS report, the dashboard, and the report library containing the dashboard. Users that attempt to access the dashboard receive the following error message: The permissions granted to user 'DOMAIN\firstname.lastname' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied) Users that then click on the direct link to the report in MOSS will see the report with no problem. Subsequent visits to the dashboard show the report with no problem. The report is using a data source that is located one folder up from the report location. The report has been updated to point to the correct shared data source after deployment. Both the report and the data source have been published. The data source is using stored credentials, with a domain service account that has been set to Use as Windows credentials. This service account is serving other reports in other areas with no problem. Edit: Ok, I've gotten a lot more information on this problem. The request is never actually being made to the data source. The user comes in to the dashboard and requests a report for the first time using their kerberos token identifying themselves. The report looks in the Report Server database and finds that they are not listed in the users table and generates this rsAccessDenied error. Once they view the report directly their name is in this table and they never have the problem again. Unfortunately, removing the user from the Users table in the RS database doesn't actually cause this error to happen again. Everything I've read says that when you run a Report Server in MOSS integrated mode all your permissions are handled at the MOSS report library level, and all Auth users have permissions to the report library, as stated earlier. • Event Handling for MFC Dialog

  This is my second question of the day, pardon me. I am writing a wrapper library to communicate with a scanner device. The source code was in C++ MFC. I am converting it to a plain Dll which will be invoked from C#. So, I am using DllImport in C# to call the wrapper library. Now I am provided with MFC code and the library is a ActiveX Object, at least I think so. class CDpocx : public CWnd { } So in my wrapper library I will have an instance of CDpocx and will call it via C# P/Invoke. But the problem is CDpocx also throws some events which I need to catch. In traditional app, I would just attach an function with it. But How would I attach the events on non MFC class. • Uploading to TwitVid using x_verify_credentials_authorization

  Hi, I am developing an iPhone application that uploads videos to TwitVid using the library TwitVid-iPhone-OAuth3. I have selected this library since Twitter is shifting to OAuth mechanism of authentication. 1) Does this new library allows to upload without user-name and password parameters? 2) I am using the following steps for uploading videos (assumed that new library allows to upload without user-name and password parameters). But, I am getting the error 'Incorrect Signature'. I am not able to identify the mistake that I am doing here. Could you please help me out to solve this problem. Authenticate the app using OAuth (MGTwitterEngine etc) which redirects the user to the web-page asking for log-in and app authentication. If the user authenticates the app, access token will obtained as final step. • VPython in Eclipse - thinks it has the wrong architecture type.

  Evening, So I've recently installed VPython on my MacBook (OS X, Snow Leopard) - and it works absolutely fine in IDLE and from the command line (interactive mode). However, eclipse has issues. Firstly it couldn't find it (which is a bit of an issue actually with all these 'easy install' python modules - when they don't tell you where they actually install to!) but I searched it out in the depths of Library\Frameworks... and added that to the System PYTHONPATH listbox in Eclipse. Now it can find it, but it says the following: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/Users/duncantait/dev/workspace/Network_Simulation/src/Basic/Net_Sim1.py", line 15, in <module> import visual File "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/visual/__init__.py", line 59, in <module> import cvisual ImportError: dlopen(/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/visual/cvisual.so, 2): no suitable image found. Did find: /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/visual/cvisual.so: mach-o, but wrong architecture I am guessing that VPython might not be built for a 64-bit architecture (Intel), but the fact remains that it works in both IDLE and command prompt... • What are best practices for managing related Cabal packages?

  I'm working on a dataflow-based optimization library written in Haskell. It now seems likely that the library is going to have to be split into two pieces: A core piece with minimal build dependencies; call it hoopl-core. A full piece, call it hoopl, which may have extra dependencies on packages like a prettyprinter, QuickCheck, and so on. The idea is that the Glasgow Haskell Compiler will depend only on hoopl-core, so that it won't be too difficult to bootstrap the compiler. Other compilers will get the extra goodies in hoopl. Package hoopl will depend on hoopl-core. The Debian package tools can build multiple packages from a single source tree. Unfortunately Cabal has not yet reached that level of sophistication. But there must be other library or application designers out there who have similar issues (e.g., one package for a core library, another for a command-line interface, another for a GUI interface). What are current best practices for building and managing multiple related Haskell packages using Cabal?

• What does stdole.dll do?

  We have a large C# (.net 2.0) app which uses our own C++ COM component and a 3rd party fingerprint scanner library also accessed via COM. We ran into an issue where in production some events from the fingerprint library do not get fired into the C# app, although events from our own C++ COM component fired and were received just fine. Using MSINFO32 to compare the loaded modules on a working system to those on a failing system we determined that this was caused by STDOLE.DLL not being in the GAC and hence not loaded into the faulty process. Dragging this file into the GAC caused events to come back fine from the fingerprint COM library. So what does stdole.dll do? It's 16k in size so it can't be much... is it some sort of link to another library like STDOLE32? How come its absence causes such odd behavior? How do we distribute stdole.dll? This is an XCOPY deploy app and we don't use the GAC. Should we package it as a resource and use the System.EnterpriseServices.Internal.Publish.GacInstall to ensure it's in the GAC?

• Advice on coding Perl to work like PHP

  I am first and foremost a perl coder, but like many, also code in PHP for client work, especially web apps. I am finding that I am duplicating a lot of my projects in the two languages, but using different paradigms (e.g. for handling cgi input and session data) or functions. What I would like to do is start to code my Perl in a way which is structured more like PHP, so that I a) am keeping one paradigm in my head b) can more quickly port over scripts from one to the other Specifically, I am asking if people could advise how you might do the following in perl? 1) Reproduce the functionality of $_SESSION, $_GET etc. e.g. by wrapping up the param() method of CGI.pm, a session library? 2) Templating library that is similar to PHP I am used to mixing my code and HTML in the PHP convention. e.g. i <h1>HTML Code here</h1> <? print "Hello World\b"; ?> Can anybody advise on which perl templating engine (and possibly configuration) will allow me to code similarly? 3) PHP function library Anybody know of a library for perl which reproduces a lot of the php inbuilt functions?

• Alternate cause of BadImageFormatException in .NET Assembly?

  I'm working on a .NET 3.5 console application in C# which uses a VC++ unmanaged DLL. It ran without a problem when I worked on it a few weeks ago, but I'm coming back to it today and am now getting a BadImageFormatException ("An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007000B)). My development workstation is running 64bit Windows 7, and I do a fair amount of work with unmanaged code, so I immediately checked that the .NET assembly and the VC++ library both had x86 targets. They did. Just to be sure, I cleaned and rebuilt the VC++ library and the .NET assembly, to no avail. Neither system is doing anything particularly unusual. The VC++ library loads a binary data file and does some mathematical processing on its contents. The .NET assembly has the DllImports for the library and some code to wire it up. This all worked a few weeks ago. So now I'm left wondering if there's some other cause of BadImageFormatException that's less common than an x86/x64 conflict that I might be running into. Thanks.

  Hi. There are a lot of chart drawing libraries out there, but what I am looking for is an interactive(!) graph (nodes and edges) drawing library. At best some kind of AJAX, but I am also open for other technologies (Java, Flash). However I would really prefer an AJAX implementation. Also only Open Source framework suggestions please (I already know about yFiles). The thing I have in mind is a bit like GWTUML. That is quite nice already, but misses an API for their graph drawing. It seems that it is an custom implementation for their product. Also some layout algorithms would be nice. Is there really no library around for that task? I wonder a bit as there are so many chart libraries available. Let me emphasize again (seems to be necessary cause of the first two comments): I am NOT looking for another chart library! • Tool to monitor HTTP traffic

  I have an application on my iPhone which sends out Http requests; is it possible to look into the HTTP stream using some tool?? I use standalone version of (IEInspector's) HttpAnalyzer tool on my windows PC to monitor HTTP traffic from all processes including the apps on Android phone (thanks to android debug bridge interface). Is there a similar tool for OS X that I can use for iPhone apps? Is this even allowed? Thanks in advance.

  Hi, (On behalf of a collegue) In one of our functionality we have some date fields for inline edit where we have enabled manual input. If in rich:calendar component, we manually enter improper date or junk data it will not even call the action method. As per our requirement we need to display an error message for date validation for these kind of fields. Is there any way to track that the date entered in the calendar field is improper with this component. • Creating a content management system for dedicated use

  I've been trying to create a specialised CMS, as none of the current open-source ones fit my needs for this project. I did my research on Google, tried multiple times but haven't got very far with this project. I'm trying to create a CMS for a TV/episode guide which is similar to this: (for some that don't have the :// just copy-and-paste and add it after http in the URL) http library.digiguide.com/lib/programmenextshowing/Police%2C+Camera%2C+Action!-12578 (one such example) - where records expire and delete from the database after expiration. This is the design I'm trying to emulate: http library.digiguide.com/lib/programme/24-84241/Drama/ - the programme http://library.digiguide.com/lib/episode/Under+Surveillance-714873 - a typical episode, could use .htaccess to remove php from name http library.digiguide.com/lib/programmenextshowing/24-84241 - paginated episode display (using script that I found in search here possibly) I don't have access to cron job as it's on Windows/Apache, so that's out the question for this one. I'm not sure how to go about this successfully, anyone got any advice? (Note:Although the linked site runs in ASP.NET, it's the design and feel of it I'm trying to emulate, except in PHP. I've managed to emulate that site's design, but with my own tweaks to it.)

• Eclipse Maven web application - can not run on server anymore

  I have an maven eclipse webapp project that I was able to right click and 'Run on server' and it would deploy on tomcat. I recently did a 'maven - Update project conifgurations' and I now can NOT deploy and run the project as a webapp. Has anyone seen this before? The only output from tomcat is as follows - it doesnt even look like its trying to deploy the application.   I can't figure out why this isn't working. I'm trying to send an email from my school email address with this code I got online. The same code works for sending from my GMail address. Does anyone know what this error means? • Cocoa App with Python extension which use Scipy -> ImportError: No module named scipy

  Hi: I have installed Scipy (via macports) for Python on my Mac and it runs fine when running Python scripts. But now I'm using Scipy (via PyObjc) for calculations embedded in a Cocoa App frontend. The following error occurs: ImportError: No module named scipy I am using the "Python.framework" in XCode. Does anybody know why Scipy module is not found? I even added it manually to the module search path via sys.path.append("/opt/local/var/macports/software/py26-scipy/0.7.1_0+gcc43/opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/scipy/") EDIT: I found the problem myself. The path should be without "/scipy" at the end. • Why aren't google api clients built on top of Apache's Abdera project ?

  Hey, Could anybody please explain that to me? As far as I can see, the developers of java's google api client library are reinventing the wheel. It's like writing a new JDK for a Java project. I'm aware of the fact that google data protocol is a little specific re atom publishing, but if one needs to use some of the fancy extensions and features that Apache Abdera project offers for this protocol, it is better not to use google api client library and implement the client from scratch with Abdera... And I'm sure that in a lot of cases its features such as Abdera's JCR adapter would become very handy for google docs, google translator toolkit and others. Now it's great that there is a google api client library to be used for google docs, but what am I going to do with the documents? I believe that in more than a half cases there is also a repository or database on the other side. And in that case, abdera is needed, not the simple google api clients that are only marshalling/unmarshalling the feeds... In fact, there is something to persist in all of the google APIs. It would make sense, if google decided to invest the effort into Abdera enhancement... This doesn't... Also for the question to be more specific: How are you developing google api clients, that need entry persistence (JCR for instance) ? What would be the best way to integrate a google api client library with Apache Abdera ?

• How to find specific/local files via CMake

  Hello, I have a problem with a locally installed library. In my project there is the xmlrpc++0.7-library: myproject/ +-- xmlrpc++0.7/ +-- src/ I want that CMake fallbacks using the local xmlrpc++0.7 directory if not found otherwise. Two problems, the first one, find_path() or find_library() does not work with local dir. I used a workaround testing if variables processed by find_xxx() are empty or not. If empty I set them manually. The cmake generates the Makefile without errors now. But if I want to compile the project via make, the c++ compiler returns "error: XmlRpc.h: file not found". The file XmlRpc.h lies in myproject/xmlrpc++0.7/src and if I compile all them manually it works fine. Here is my CMakeLists.txt. • Convert Form to UserControl

  I have a 3rd party code library that I'm using; part of this library is a winforms application for editing the configuration files used by this library. I would like to embed their configuration editor app into my application. I have the source code to their library and the configuration editor is (as far as I can tell) a straight forward Winforms app using standard controls. I'm trying to convert the app's main form into a UserControl so that I can host it inside my application which is WPF (WPF's WindowsFormsHost won't host a Form object, I get an exception). I changed the form object to inherit from UserControl instead of Form and fixed all the compiler errors (there weren't many, just property initializations that don't exist on UserControls) but what's happening is my newly converted control is just blank. When I run my test app I don't see any of the controls that make up the original form, just a blank page. Any ideas? I really don't want to have to re-implement their app from scratch, that would suck. Edit: I forgot to mention I'm testing this in a WinForms application, not WPF, to just get the control working before trying to use it from WPF.

• About Data Objects and DAO Design when using Hibernate

  I'm hesitating between two designs of a database project using Hibernate. Design #1. (1) Create a general data provider interface, including a set of DAO interfaces and general data container classes. It hides the underneath implementation. A data provider implementation could access data in database, or an XML file, or a service, or something else. The user of a data provider does not to know about it. (2) Create a database library with Hibernate. This library implements the data provider interface in (1). The bad thing about Design #1 is that in order to hide the implementation details, I need to create two sets of data container classes. One in the general data provider interface - let's call them DPI-Objects, the other set is used in the database library, exclusively for entity/attribute mapping in Hibernate - let's call them H-Objects. In the DAO implementation, I need to read data from database to create H-Objects (via Hibernate) and then convert H-Objects into DPI-Objects. Design #2. Do not create a general data provider interface. Expose H-Objects directly to components that use the database lib. So the user of the database library needs to be aware of Hibernate. I like design #1 more, but I don't want to create two sets of data container classes. Is that the right way to hide H-Objects and other Hibernate implementation details from the user who uses the database-based data provider? Are there any drawbacks of Design #2? I will not implement other data provider in the new future, so should I just forget about the data provider interface and use Design #2? What do you think about this? Thanks for your time!
