    I saw a job classified asking for a Linux admin who could administer KVM based vm's. I can do so if I use virt-manager or some form of graphical tool, but I'm not really familiar with all of the command line material. I also cant really find a good tutorial on it, as most sites say to use the graphical stuff. My question is, for a position like this is my understanding satisfactory to apply?

F5 is capable of persisting a session based on a response header value: when HTTP_RESPONSE { set session [HTTP::header X-Session] if {$session ne ""} { persist add uie $session } } and then route all subsequent requests which contain the same session ID in a header, query parameter, path, etc. to the same machine, eg: when HTTP_REQUEST { set session [findstr [HTTP::path] "/session/" 9 / if {$session} { persist uie $session } } I'm wondering if this is even possible to do with HAProxy?

    I just got a second hand Dell Poweredge 2650 and its working fine. I can access the embedded remote access controller via the Racadm.exe tool (Under wine) but the web based version of it (Which I would prefer to use) has an SSL certificate error. I select continue I know there are risks ect and java starts up.   • ustream and justin.tv don't work, YouTube and bitgravity are fine

    Can anyone explain this? On this laptop, ustream and justin.tv don't work - just get a blank screen. But YouTube and bitgravity work fine (also flash based). 64-bit windows 7 - but I have 64-bit windows 7 on my desktop machine and everything works fine there. Good place to test is here http://live.twit.tv/ where the bitgravity feeds work fine, but ustream and justin.tv don't.

    There's ways to get performance graphs with several monitoring software packages out there such as ZenOSS. There's a plugin available that will graph MySQL based SELECT/WRITE/SLOW queries in a nice rrd style graph. I'm curious if there is a way to also get similar graphs available in Nagios 3.0? I know Nagios has tools like pnp and can integrate rrd, but is there something readily available that can plugin to monitor those MySQL specifics?

    I want to setup a kvm-based LTSP appliance with Ubuntu 10.04 (server/desktop for ltsp) on a Dell PowerEdge 2900 for ~10-15 clients. People will mostly use Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice and Qcad. Does someone have any experience with this setup? I've had a similar setup with VMware Server 2 and Ubuntu 8.04. How good/bad is kvm compared to VMware for a LTSP appliance? Shall I stick with VMware or can I switch to KVM?

    Hi guys, After a power-failure, my Xserve won't let me log in on the login screen. I can still SSH into the box and access its other services, but the login box just shakes when I write either a local username and password or an ldap based username and password (this server is the LDAP server).     Hi I and a friend need to start to use some instant messaging and it seem like pidgin is a nice program to use. However it supports quite a lot of different protocols. So my question is witch to choose? Since both parties can use the same program we don't have to use the same protocol as "all the rest", but can focus on what is best to use.   • DirectX works for 64-bit but not 32-bit

    I'm trying to play a game (Civilization 5) which was previously working but no longer. I believe I've narrowed it down to a DirectX issue because I get an error running dxdiag.exe in 32 bit mode. My goal (at least I believe) is to get Direct3D Acceleration "Enabled" in dxdiag (as it is in 64 bit dxdiag). A very similar issue is here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-gaming/direct3d-acceleration-is-not-available-in-windows/4c345e6e-dc68-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5?page=1 The proposed answer, which looks very promising, doesn't seem to work for me. Like other users in that thread, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Direct3D\Drivers does not have a SoftwareOnly key to change. I even tried manually adding it as a string and dword, to no avail. I have a NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M, and before you ask, yes I've tried updating (also uninstalling, reinstalling) my drivers. I've also tried doing the same with DirectX (and Civilization 5 for that matter). Been debugging for some 4+ hours now after a full day of work and I've run out of ideas. I'm hoping somebody knows the solution here! :) Here's what I see when I open dxdiag: DxDiag has detected that there mgiht have been a problem accessing Direct3D the last time this program was used.     I'm currently working on hardening my servers against hacking- amongst other things, i'm getting a load of attempts to log on as root over ssh. While i've implemented fail2ban, i'm wondering, why root logons would be allowed by default to start with? Even with non sudo based distros, i can always log on as a normal user and switch - so i'm wondering is there any clear advantage to allowing root logons on ssh, or it just something no one bothers to change?

    I am moving a clients classic asp webapp to a new IIS7 based server. The site contains some .js files which have javascript but also classic asp in <% % tags which contains a bunch of conditional statements designed to spit out pieces of javascript based on session state variables. I know I need to somehow specify that a .js file should also be treated like an .asp file and run through parsing it. However I am not sure how to go about doing this. Here is what I've tried so far... Under the Server node in IIS under HANDLER MAPPINGS I created a new Script Map with the following settings. Request Path: *.js Executable: C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\asp.dll Name: ASPClassicInJSFiles Mapping: Invoke Handler only if request is mapped to : File Verbs: All verbs Access: Script I also created a similar handler under the site node itself. Under MIME Types .js is defined as application/x-javascript None of these work. If I simply rename the file to have .asp extension then things work, however this app is poorly coded and has literally 100's of files with the .js files included in them under various names and locations, so rename, search and replace is the last option I have.

I want to start using DKIM, but since DKIM is a domain based reputation system I wonder if signing with the same company.com domain will impact the reputation of transactional emails, since both them and marketing will be signed with the same domain? Is using DKIM with subdomains possible? Would something like this: bulk.company.com and transactional.company.com be a good idea? Thanks!

Now I'm looking for an inexpensive (100-250$) hardware, possibly linux based, with a fingerprint reader from which I can perform the user authentication and interact with the application (both the activities) via REST. I saw hundreds of different devices on internet which are supposed to do these activities but there are no good datasheets for them and it's very difficult to understand what's possible to do with those devices.
