• How can I implement drag-out-to-delete in Flex?

  I have a List component from which I'd like to be able to remove items using drag & drop, but without having a specific target. If you use the mac, the behaviour I'm looking for is something like what the Dock uses; when you drag something out of the bounds of the control it should get an icon that indicates that it'll be deleted (OSX uses a cloud or something?) and then if you release it it will be removed from the list. How can I do this? (If I need to provide a more clear description, please comment; I'll fill in what I can)

• In WPF XAML how can I concatenate 2 constants so I can use pre-define paths?

  I'm new to XAML, so presume I'm missing something simple. I want to replace the path part of the source path with a c# constant for easier path management, for example I have: <Image Source="/Images/Themes/Buttons/MyPicture.png" /> and in another class I have my constant defined: public static readonly string UriImagesButtons = "/Images/Big/PNG/"; I want to have something along the lines of: <Image Source="{static:UriImagesButtons + MyPicture.png}" /> This means that I can change the path globally at a stroke if the need arises. What's the syntax to do this?

• OS X Terminal: Meta key + alt functionality at the same time

  Is there a way to use "alt/option" key as a meta key but still be able to use the key to make some characters which need it? For example in my local keyboard layout: @ is alt-2 \ is alt-shift-7 | is alt-7 etc. So if I set alt as meta key, I can't make those characters. On the other hand using "press esc, release esc, press a key" to make meta key sequences makes my hands hurt. Any emacs users with international keyboards who have solved this, please give any tips you might have! :) edit: It appears that I can set alt as meta key and then add these kind of settings in inputrc: "\e2": "@" This works in bash shell but it still won't work with emacs though, so no good.

• When using source control, what files should actually be commited?

  I am working on a small project, hosted on Google Code, using SVN for source control. This is my first time using source control, and I'm a bit confused about what I should actually be committing to the repository. My project is very simple: A Class Library project, written in C#. The actual code that I have written is a single file. My question is this: Should I be committing the entire project (including directories like Debug, Release, Properties, etc.) or just my main .cs file? • Adding a UIView to a UITableViewCell via cell.contentView

  I have a class called GraphView that extends UIView that basically draws a small little line chart. I need one of these graphs at the top of each section in my UITableView. So I tried by creating a separate cell at the top of one of my sections and then on that cell I did: [cell.contentView addSubview:graphView]; [graphView release]; But when I scroll down, it's like the graph is glitchy and it shows up in random spots along the UITableView. Anyone have ideas or insight? Is there a better way to incorporate another UIView into the top of each section in my UITableView?

  How would I assign a column of a TableView to be a specific entry in a Core Data entity that is linked to the NSArrayController via a to-many relationship? For example Entity: MovieEntity Attributes: title(NSString), releaseDate(NSDate) Relationship: posters<-->> PosterEntity Entity:PosterEntity Attributes: imageLocation(NSURL), default(BOOL) Relationships: movie<<--> MovieEntity So I have a three column table that I want to display the Poster, Title, and Release Date attributes in, but as one movie could potentially have several different style's of posters how do I get the poster column to only show the one that's marked default? Since the rest of the table is defined in Interface Builder I would prefer to keep it that way for the sake of keeping the code as clean as possible, but if this can only be done programmatically then I'm all ears. I just wanted to give preference in case there's more than one way to skin a cat, so to speak.

• iOS Development: Why isn't my try block catching the exception?

  Hi. I have an exception being thrown in my code, but when I wrap it in an try/catch block, it doesn't get caught. The NSLog statement is never called in the catch block. Here's the code... When I build and analyze my project on XCode, I obtain a 'warning' on the following line: NSString *contactEmail = (NSString *)ABMultiValueCopyValueAtIndex(emailInfo, 0); The message is: Potential leak on object allocated on line ... and stored into contactEmail. Is there any error on that line? UPDATE I get the same 'warning' with this line of code: ABMultiValueRef emailInfo = ABRecordCopyValue(person, kABPersonEmailProperty); But here, I can't do this: [emailInfo release]; I'm developing for iPhone.

  I have a list which is reordered using sortable. I defined a trash can div, and I want to achieve that when the blocks are dropped on this div to get deleted. So far I can't seam to fine the way to fire the drop event, when I release the item gets back to his previous position.   Hi, We've written several Outlook Add-ins for various projects and have now been asked to look at writing a Exchange server add-in. We will need to inspect all incoming / outgoing msgs and tag / file them into a document management system. If it's a message that we are interested in we would ideally like to change the default icon that is displayed in Outlook. We could I guess settle for Categorising / colour coding the email but we've been asked for a icon. Any guidance on how to get started / killer reference apps much appricaiated. • When does code bloat start having a noticeable effect on performance?

  I am looking to make a hefty shift towards templates in one of my OpenGL projects, mainly for fun and the learning experience. I plan on watching the size of the executable carefully as I do this, to see just how much of the notorious bloat happens. Currently, the size of my Release build is around 580 KB when I favor speed and 440 KB when I favor size. Yes, it's a tiny project, and in fact even if my executable bloats 10 x its size, it's still going to be 5 MB or so, which hardly seems large by today's standards... or is it? This brings me to my question. Is speed proportional to size, or are there leaps and plateaus at certain thresholds, thresholds which I should be aiming to stay below? (And if so, what are the thresholds specifically?)

Is this a complete oversight or i am missing something i would expect to see something like this: RemoteIssue[] issues = _soapService.getIssues(string project_, string version_) any help? UPDATE: I see that JIRA 4.0 is out but i can't find any documentation if the API has changed to support this request above. Can anyone find this link to answer that questions.

  Hi, I have some problems retrieving specific tuples. I am actually a student trying to build a Room management system. I have two tables: Room(roomID,hotelname,rate) and Reservation(resID,arriveDate,departDate,roomID). I am not sure how to retrieve the rooms that are available between 2 specific dates. This was the query that i used. Each GPS device daily data quantity is: 24 * 60 * 2 = 2,880 10 000 10,000 GPS devices daily data quantity is: 10000 * 2880 = 28,800,000 Each GPS data approximately 160Byte, the amount of data per day is: 28,800,000 * 160 = 4.29GB We need hold at least 3 months of GPS data in the database, My question is: 1, whether SQL Server 2005 can support such a large amount of data store? 2, How to plan data table? (all GPS data storage in one table? Daily table? Each GPS device with a GPS data table?) • Persistent SQL Table lock from C#

  I'm trying to create a persistent SQL (SQL Server 2005) lock on a table level. I'm not updating/querying the specified table, but I need to prevent a third party application from updating the locked table as a means to prevent transactions from being posted (the table I wish to lock is the key on their transaction that interferes with my processing). From my experience the table is only locked for the time a specific transaction is taking place. Any ideas? The 3rd party developer has logged this feature as an enhancement, but since they are in the middle of rolling out a major release I can expect to wait at least 6 months for this. I know that this isn't a great solution, since their software will fall over but it is of a critical enough nature that we're willing to live with the consequences.

  Hi, I am working for a project on disaster management sponsered by World Bank, under this project i have assigned work on CMS. and my senior has asked me to make a ASP.NET webpage where those logged with administrator privilege will be able to edit the page. like:- <div id="mydiv"><pre>+++++++MY CONTENT+++++++++++++++++++</pre></div> now if if the admin clicks on mydiv he should be able to edit the pre contents. for this i got many options such as WYSIWYG editors (but they work on textboxs only and further more they cant save the data back to server replacing the previous content) then I came to know about Webparts , but its editing capabilities was so low that my plan for implementing a WYSIWYG editor went in vain. so I m seeking help from u all is their any way to achieve the motive, it would be better if u can suggest something like incorporating WYSIWYG into webpartmanager editor...   Hi guys, I need to make some changes to a SQL Server 2008 database. This requires the creation of a new table, and inserting a foreign key in the new table that references the Primary key of an already existing table. So I want to set up a relationship between my new tblTwo, which references the primary key of tblOne. However when I tried to do this (through SQL Server Management Studio) I got the following error: The columns in table 'tblOne' do not match an existing primary key or UNIQUE constraint I'm not really sure what this means, and I was wondering if there was any way around it?

• Using 50+ 3rd party web services, should I use BizTalk or just C#?

  I'm building a back-end application that needs to fetch data on various schedules from over 50+ 3rd party web services and that number will continue to grow. The data from these services can currently be grouped into 3 types so each response needs to be mapped to 1 of 3 known schemas. Writing custom c# to hit each web service appears to be a management nightmare never mind having all that data mapping in code. The current thinking is build this on top of BizTalk 2009, still a lot of maintenance but at least a well defined platform with mapping/transformation capabilities already. I'm looking for any advise from anyone who might have done this before, does this really buy us anything? I am aware of a lack of polling features in BTS however there are enough work arounds to feel comfortable about the solution. Thanks!

  Hi, I have a website for which many pages rely on information passed to them (usually in the form of a querystring) or on a session variable. When making a web application, how do you normally handle these particular pages in regards to the sitemap? If you're using the standard ASP.NET menu control, it will render the node on the menu and if you click it, you could get an exception stating that a session variable doesn't exist (if it hasn't been created yet). For example, if you're making a user management area: All of these nodes get rendered, but I don't want the user to click on edit user or delete user without specifying someone to edit or delete. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
