How Do I get the current instance from an AppDomain?

Hi, I use the default appdomain (AD) which I use to create new appdomains (AD1) when required for running plugins in isolation. When creating the new domain I also wire up the AppDomainUnload event to allow me to call clean up code etc. The issue I seem to have is: 1) Create AD1 from AD 2) Run code in AD1 3) Call AD.Unload(AD1) The code switches to AD1 and calls the unloading event passing in a reference to the current AppDomain (AD1). At this point I'd like to get a reference to the current instance running in AD1 to call a shutdown method however there is no GetInstance on the AppDomain class. Any ideas how I can go about getting it?

Convert char array to UNICODE in MFC C++

I'm using the folowing code to read files from a folder in windows. However since this a MFC application I have to convert the char array to UNICODE. For example if I hard code the path as "C:\images3\test\" as shown below the code works. WIN32_FIND_DATA FindFileData; HANDLE hFind = INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE; hFind = FindFirstFile(_T("C:\images3\test\"), &FindFileData); What I want is to get this working as follows: char* pathOfFileType; hFind = FindFirstFile(_T(pathOfFileType), &FindFileData); Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem ? Programming Definitions: What exactly is 'Building'.

What does it mean to BUILD a solution/project/program? I want to make sure I have my definitions correct (so I don't sound like a idiot when conversing). In IDE's, you can (correct me if I'm wrong) compile source-code/programming-code into computer-readable machine code. You can debug a program, which is basically stepping through the program and looking for errors. But what exactly doe's building a program do? In VS im aware that when you build a program it produces a executable file in a debug folder. Any hard-core tech definitions of what it means to BUILD a program?

Export products and variants from SQL Server

I have a SQL Server DB that has a table of products, and another table which contains a list of the sku variants of each product if it has one. I want to export all the products and their SKU's into excel. At the moment, I have a helper SQL function which performs the subquery against a product_id and concatenates all the SKU's into a comma-delimited string, e.g: Product Code, Name, SKUs 111 P1 77, 22, 11 Is there an easier way to do this, so that each SKU is a row which the associated product code as well, i.e: Product Code, Name, SKUs 111 P1 77 111 P1 22 111 P1 11

Official way to ask jQuery wait for all images to load before executing something

In jQuery when you do this: $(function() { alert("DOM is loaded, but images not necessarily all loaded"); }); It waits for the DOM to load and executes your code. If all the images are not loaded then it still executes the code. This is obviously what we want if we're initializing any DOM stuff such as showing or hiding elements or attaching events. Let's say though that I want some animation and I don't want it running until all the images are loaded. Is there an official way in jQuery to do this? The best way I have is to use <body onload="finished()">, but I don't really want to do that unless I have to. Note: There is a bug in jQuery 1.3.1 in Internet Explorer which actually does wait for all images to load before executing code inside $function() { }. So if you're using that platform you'll get the behavior I'm looking for instead of the correct behavior described above.

[OpenCV] cvFilter2D works very very slow in Ubuntu 9.10 amd64?

Hi, has someone tried the cvFilter2D under 64bit linux? Recently when I was trying to port some code to the amd64 version of Ubuntu 9.10, I just found that the cvFilter2D works really slow. The version is Opencv 2.0. The code is as follows: CvMat *mat_src = cvCreateMat(128, 128, CV_32FC1); CvMat *mat_dest = cvCreateMat(128, 128, CV_32FC1); CvMat* mat_kernel = cvCreateMat( 25, 25, CV_32FC1); // initialization ... cvFilter2D( (CvMat*)mat_src, (CvMat*)mat_dest, (CvMat*)mat_kernel, cvPoint( (25-1)/2, (25-1)/2)); // I needs approximately 100ms to finish that... My CPU is Intel 2.4G However, the Opencv 1.1pre only cost me 3ms for the same code...

Hi, I'm trying to write a function that is gets two arrays and the name of another function as arguements. e.g. main.m: x=[0 0.2 0.4 0.6 0.8 1.0]; y=[0 0.2 0.4 0.6 0.8 1.0]; func2(x,y,'func2eq') func 2.m : function t =func2(x, y, z, 'func') //"unexpected matlab expression" error message here t= func(x,y,z); func2eq.m: function z= func2eq(x,y) z= x + sin(pi * x)* exp(y); Matlab tells gives me the above error message. For a gcc cheatsheet I'm writing, I want to create a table which should describe how gcc interprets different file endings. The table I created so far is defined as follows: |====================================================================== |.c |C source code which must be preprocessed. |.i |C source code which should not be preprocessed. |.h |C header file to be turned into a precompiled header. |.s |Assembler code. |other | An object file to be fed straight into linking. Any file name with no recognized suffix is treated this way. |====================================================================== The problem I have is that the table spans the total page width, but what I want is that each column only is as wide as it's widest entry, and that the table will span only as much witdh as it needs.

MS Dev Studio 2005 Ignores Preprocessor directives during compile

We just got a new developer and I'm trying to set him up with Dev Studio 2005 (The version we all use at this office), and we're running into a weird problem that I've never seen before. I have some code that works perfectly on my system, and he can't seem to get it compiled. We've tracked the issue down to his copy of dev studio ignoring the preprocessor directives. For example, in the project properties under C/C++|Preprocessor|Preprocessor Directives, I add DEFINE_ME. Which should translate to a /D"DEFINE_ME" for the compiler. And it does in my development environment, but it doesn't on his. I verified that when he checks out the code from the source repository, that he has the same version of the code I do. And if I look in his Project Properties, all of the directives are there. For some reason they're just not getting passed down to the compiler. Any Ideas?

Rewrite the same code in C++ and Java and compare the results. I have written code, and played with it in all three languages but I can not even get it to compile. This includes declaring x above the three lines as well as in the calling function (as this question is obviously attempting to illustrate scoping issues) I'd like to explain the results and do the comparisons on my own, as it is an assignment question but I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to how to get this code to compile? Netbeans GUI Form corrupted?

I was making a java gui application through netbeans IDE. All was working fine but yesterday when I opened the form in Netbeans, it said that the form had been corrupted and it could only open that form in read-only mode. When I opened that form in read-only mode, I found that the code was incomplete as severals lines of coding wasn't there at the end. Could anybody tell me how to recover the form. The form is perfect in lookwise but the generated code is incomplete. The code is too long to write it again. The Netbeans told me to get help from http://wiki.netbeans.org/FormGuardedBlockError but I didn't find any helpful information there.

My jQuery code (using ajax) request's data from a php script (pgiproxy.php) using the following function: function grabPage($pageURL) { $homepage = file_get_contents($pageURL); echo $homepage; } I then extract the html code i need from the returned data using jQuery and insert it into a div called #BFX, as follows: $("#btnNewLoadMethod1").click(function(){ $('#temp1').load('pgiproxy.php', { data : $("#formdata").serialize(), mode : "graph"} , function() { $('#temp').html( $('#temp1').find('center').html() ); $('#BFX').html( $('#temp').html() ); }); }); This works fine. I get the html data (which is a gif image) i need displayed on screen in the correct div. The problem is i can see the html data loading into the div (dependant on network speed), but what I want is to insert the extracted html code into #BFX ONLY when the ajax request has fully completed.

Using an image as a border

I am working on an custom container and I need a border for this container. I have a 15x15 image that I am creating a 9-slice border skin with. The issue that I am having is that the border skin does not appear the way that I had hoped it would. Here is a ss of the skin in place. Ideally I should have a transparent box with a 5 pixel border around it. I want to protect my software from being used without permission. I will provide it for free to the parties I authorize to use it. Anyone knows a good protection scheme against having it copied and run by unauthorized parties ? So far, I thought about introducing a key validation mechanism: periodically, the user needs to send me (web site query) a code based on which I generate a new code that app validates against. There is an initial code, and so I can track users... Thoughts ? Later edit: I changed the licensing part to avoid unfocused discussion.

SQL 2005 - Search stored procedures for text (Not all text is being searched)

The following bits of code do not seem to be searching the entire routine definition. Code block 1: select top 50 * from information_schema.routines where routine_definition like '%09/01/2008%' and specific_Name like '%NET' Code Block 2: SELECT ROUTINE_NAME, ROUTINE_DEFINITION FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.ROUTINES WHERE ROUTINE_DEFINITION LIKE '%EffectiveDate%' AND ROUTINE_TYPE='PROCEDURE' and ROUTINE_NAME like '%NET' I know for a fact that these bits of SQL work under most circumstances. The problem is this: When I run this for "EffectiveDate" which is buried at line ~800 in a few stored procedures, these stored procedures never show up in the results. It's as if "like" only searches so deep. Any tips on fixing this? I want to search the ENTIRE stored procedure for the specified text. Thanks!

C++ Long switch statement or look up with a map?

In my C++ application, I have some values that act as codes to represent other values. To translate the codes, I've been debating between using a switch statement or an stl map. The switch would look something like this: int code; int value; switch(code) { case 1: value = 10; break; case 2: value = 15; break; } The map would be an stl::map<int, int> and translation would be a simple lookup with the code used as the key value. Which one is better/more efficient/cleaner/accepted? Why?

how to deal with a static analyzer output

We have started using a static analyzer (Coverity) on our code base. We were promptly stupefied by the sheer amount of warnings we received (its in the hundreds of thousands) , it will take the entire team a few mounts to clear them all (obliviously impossible). the options we discussed so far are 1) hire a contractor to sort out the warning and fix them - he drawback: we will probably need very experiences people to do all these modifications, and no contractor will have required understanding of the code. 2) filter out the warning and deal only with the dangerous ones - the problem here is that our static analysis output will always be cluttered by warning making it difficult for us to isolate problems. also the filtering of the warning is also a major effort. either way, bringing our code to a state when the static analyzer can be a useful tool for us seems a monumental task. so how is it possible to work with the static analyzer without braining current development efforts into a complete stand still?

Textmate tab and de-tab selected block

Recently switched to Textmate on Mac for coding. On PC when ever I want to tab in or out a block of code I just highlight and press tab or shift+tab to move it in our out. It's very useful when you are adding an extra loop or conditional statement to a block of code to keep everything tidy and neatly indented. On Textmate however when I try this it just replaces my selected text with a tab. So is there a way to do tab and de-tab lines of code in textmate?

Working effectively unit tests / Anyone tried the in-assembly approach?

I'm trying to re-introduce unit testing into my team as our current coverage is very poor. Our system is quite large 40+ projects/assemblies. We current use a project named [SystemName].Test.csproj were all the test code is dumped and organised to represent the namespaces using folders. This approach is not very scalable and makes it difficult to find tests. I've been thinking about added a Tests folder to each project, this would put the unit tests "in the developers face" and make them easy to find. The downside is the Production release code would contain references to nunit, nmocks as well as the test code and test data.... Has anyone tried this approach? How is everyone else working with unit tests on large projects? Having a Tests project per "real" project/assembly would introduce too many new projs. Thanks in advance
