Sentry, a new and free addition to the LastPass password management tool, automates the process and notifies you of breaches. In response to all the recent and unfortunate high-profile security breaches LastPass has rolled out Sentry–a tool that monitors breach lists to notify you if your email appears in a list of breached accounts. The lists are supplied by PwnedList, a massive database of security breach data, and securely indexed against your accounts within the LastPass system. If there is a security breach and your email is on the list, you’ll receive an automated email notice indicating which website was compromised and that your email address was one of the positive matches from the breach list.   Twitter can be a lot of fun but having to constantly use the More Button to view a large number of tweets is frustrating. All that you need to be rid of that frustration is the More Tweets! extension for Google Chrome. Before Here it is…the classic “More Button”. If you are only interested in viewing a few tweets on occasion then it is not a problem. But if you are looking at a large number of tweets on a daily basis then it can be very frustrating. Notice the last tweet from TinyHacker shown here… After After installing the extension the only thing that you will need to do is refresh your Twitter page if you had it open before-hand. Now there will be a seamless connection from page to page when you are reading through tweets. You can see the TinyHacker tweet from above followed oh so nicely by tweets from the second page…this is definitely an improvement. For those who may be curious if you are quick enough with your mouse you can see what the “automated connection process” looks like. • Oracle SOA Suite customer panel: Successful Application Integration & SOA Projects

  At the recent SOA Suite customer panel, Roger Brown from UNS Energy, Fabio Ravagni from Cencosud and Paras Jain from Cisco discussed their recent SOA Suite implementations, business drivers and challenges, architecture and lessons learned. Roger started by describing how UNS redesigned their internet portal to improve their customer experience and reduce manual steps in their business processes. Through the use of Oracle Service Bus, Oracle BPEL Process Manager and Oracle Business Activity Monitoring, they provided more self-service functionality, automated their business processes and increased the use of their web site by 12.98% for number of visits and 33.58% for average visit duration. The screenshot below shows the UNS architecture: > Next Fabio described the challenges Cencosud faced through continuous expansion of their business, different standards and levels of expertise and large volumes of information. By introducing Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Data Integrator and Oracle Enterprise Repository, and with the help of Oracle Consulting, they significantly simplified their integration model, reduced their maintenance effort and increased their integration governance. The picture below shows the implemented solution with so far more than 400 services in production and more than 20 ongoing projects, which will make use of the new integration platform. > Last, but not least, Paras discussed the challenges the Webex division of Cisco faced with a highly manual service fulfillment process, multiple data sources and the resulting large room for errror and delay in customer time-to-service. • How do I setup sendmail, postfix, or dovecot so that perl can send emails?

  Direct Question: I want to enable Perl to send emails. What package(s) should I install to setup a simplistic email server: no need for incoming, only outgoing. I can forward through gmail's SMTP if that's best? Background: I am programmer with a nightly build script written in Perl. I would like to email myself the results of my nightly builds (especially if there's an error). I've read about the perl package Mail::Sendmail briefly, but if something else is more appropriate, please tell me!! I tried the simple aptget install sendmail, but that doesn't seem to work. I get the following errors: Server said: 421 4.3.0 collect: Cannot write ./dfp1PFXl7W020719 (bfcommit, uid=0, gid=120): No such file or directory message transmission error (421 4.3.0 collect: Cannot write ./dfp1PFXl7W020719 (bfcommit, uid=0, gid=120): No such file or directory ) Server said: 421 4.3.0 collect: Cannot write ./dfp1PFXl7W020719 (bfcommit, uid=0, gid=120): No such file or directory I've googled this problem a bit and tried a few things -- adding my username to /etc/mail/trusted-users and such, but to no avail. In other words, I would be most grateful if you could provide simple instructions for setting up an outgoing mail server. I really don't understand the specifics, but as I understand, I need to forward the mail through an existing SMTP server -- so I can use my gmail account if need be (that's where I want to send the logs anyway). Any suggestions would be most greatly appreciated.

• Application Lifecycle Management Tools

  Leading a team comprised of three former teams means that we have three of everything.  Three places to gather requirements, three (actually eight or nine) places for customers to submit support requests, three places to plan and track work. We’ve been looking into tools that combine these features into a single product.  Not just Agile planning tools, but those that allow us to look in a single place for requirements, work items, and reports. One of the interesting choices is Software Planner by Automated QA (the makers of Test Complete).  It's a lovely tool with real end-to-end process support.  We’re probably not going to use it for one reason – cost.  I’m sure our company could get a discount, but it’s on a concurrent user license that isn’t cheap for a large number of users.  Some initial guesswork had us paying over $6,000 for 3 concurrent users just to get started with the Enterprise version.  Still, it’s intuitive, has great Agile capabilities, and has a reputation for excellent customer support. At the moment we’re digging deeper into Rational Team Concert by IBM.  Reading the docs on this product makes me want to submit my resume to Big Blue.  Not only does RTC integrate everything we need, but it’s free for up to 10 developers.  It has beautiful support for all phases of Scrum.  We’re going to bring the sales representative in for a demo. This marks one of the few times that we’re trying to resist the temptation to write our own tool.  And I think this is the first time that something so complex may actually be capably provided by an external source.   Hooray for less work! • Step by Step screencasts to do Behavior Driven Development on WCF and UI using xUnit

  I am trying to encourage my team to get into Behavior Driven Development (BDD). So, I made two quick video tutorials to show how BDD can be done from early requirement collection stage to late integration tests. It explains breaking user stories into behaviors, and then developers and test engineers taking the behavior specs and writing a WCF service and unit test for it, in parallel, and then eventually integrating the WCF service and doing the integration tests. It introduces how mocking is done using the Moq library. Moreover, it shows a way how you can write test once and do both unit and integration tests at the flip of a config setting. Watch the screencast here: Doing BDD with xUnit, Subspec and on a WCF Service  Warning: you might hear some noise in the audio in some places. Something wrong with audio bit rate. I suggest you let the video download for a while and then play it. If you still get noise, go back couple of seconds earlier and then resume play. It eliminates the noise.  The next video tutorial is about doing BDD to do automated UI tests. It shows how test engineers can take behaviors and then write tests that tests a prototype UI in isolation (just like Service Contract) in order to ensure the prototype conforms to the expected behaviors, while developers can write the real code and build the real product in parallel. When the real stuff is done, the same test can test the real stuff and ensure the agreed behaviors are satisfied. I have used WatiN to automate UI and test UI for expected behaviors. • Preventing battery from charging

  I'm running on UPS power and would like to prevent the laptop's battery from charging, to increase the amount of power available to other devices. Is there a way to do this? update The machine is a Dell Latitude D400. If people want more details, just ask. Also, I'm gathering that I need to explain my desired setup a little better. I've gotten a bunch of suggestions about taking the battery out. I'm not sure if people are suggesting to take the battery out while the machine is running — this, as I understand, is not a good idea with most laptops — or to just remove the battery altogether. The latter option is not optimal, because ideally I'd like to use the 30-60 minutes of power in the laptop battery and then switch over to UPS power. The details of the switch-over may constitute a separate question, but if I can't find a way to keep the laptop battery from charging, then removing the battery from the machine altogether may be the best way to do this. I'm not sure yet if this machine will run without a battery, but I'll check that out. Other than the laptop, the UPS is just supporting a cable modem and router and a USB hub. Again in the idealized version of this setup, all the power management changes would be automated, i.e. not require replugging anything or pressing Fn-keys. I'd like the machine to start using laptop battery power when apcupsd indicates that the UPS A/C is out, and then start using UPS power, but not charging the battery, when the battery is almost depleted.

• How to create a PPA for C++ program?

  My questions are: c++/gtkmm project created with NetBeans. How to make package to PPA from this? I have created target files structure (*.desktop, iconfile, ui glade files). Binary goes to /opt/extras.ubuntu.com/myagenda/bin/myagenda. There is also a folder of glade files, that must go to /opt/extras.ubuntu.com/myagenda/bin/myagenda/ui. Desktop file goes to /usr/share/applications/myagenda.desktop. Icon goes to /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/myagenda.svg As you see, there is really small amount of files.   How do I prepare for the GRE Computer Science subject test? Are there any standard text books I should follow? Agree that its under graduation level and one doesn't need to dig to deep for it. I have done my computer engineering from a college who ranks in top 20 in India. So may be my curriculum has not been that good as compared to international students. Since now i want to get admission in to world renowned university's Ph. D. program. I want to enhance my basic skills up to a level to beat other international students in competition. I want to know good book references which are recommended by professors in international school like CMU, MIT, Standford etc. Like for Algorithms Coreman is considered very good. Good books builds concepts from very basic so that one doesn't need to mug up even a basic concepts. Coreman is just too good with good blend of Mathematics and programming concepts. Definitely Test paper are must but that can be practiced once one has read text books thoroughly. Besides its been 2 years i passed out from college so its is essential for me to revise all concepts from text books. Please tell me standard text books for each subject like Computer Architecture, Database Design, Operating Systems, Discrete Maths etc.

• Sending Emails via Google SMTP - after some time quit working

  on a website I use PHPMailer to send automated registration emails, etc and also a newsletter-tool (which loops through the emails and sends them one by one). Also, I configured in Gmail under Settings and confirmed @mydomain addresses, so I can send from @mydomain emails without the gmail address being displayed. Furthermore I authorized the website to send mails with this link: https://accounts.google.com/DisplayUnlockCaptcha Now, after 2 month where everything worked perfectly fine, suddenly users started not to receive emails anymore and most recently emails are not even being sent anymore. Also, I received many error messages like this: Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.4.1 [email protected]: Recipient address rejected: Access Denied (state 13). When I check at this link: https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/checkmx/ It tells 2 none critical errors: Relayhost configuration detected. There SHOULD be a valid SPF record. So, the questions I would have were: does anybody have any hint why it stopped working, what the error messages mean? what to do to fix it? where do I set a SPF record (Cpanel?)? what is a relayhost and how to fix that? It is about 1000-1400 mails a day (gmail's limit is 2000). Also, what can I do wrong when setting up an SPF record? I've heard there are some testing tools for that. • Installation failed with a Blank Screen

  Blank Screen, no Fix I've tried works... Hardware conflict maybe? First I tried AMD64 Ubuntu desktop. I got into the boot screen, however selecting install returns 1-2 seconds of code then blank screen no-idle. Then I tried the alternate install. Worked, some additional software installs failed. Go to boot for first time, I see BIOS load then black/blank screen. No flicker or cursor... screen turns off. (I am also having issues installing any 64bit OS legit WIN 7 64 Ult., WinXP 64 PRO ISO, also WinXP 32 Legit, WinXP 64Pro ISO returns BSOD on install. All win 7 builds return with CD/DVD driver error. The only OS that installs is beta build 7000 win 7.) Please help!   Having spelling mistakes on a website degrades customer experience by many times. Developers and website content creators spend good amount of time in going through the content manually to make sure that there are no spelling mistakes. At times few mistakes slip in as manual process is error prone. There are few web services and tool available in the market which provide automated spell checking services but they have certain limitations like – high fees to use the service, limitation on the number of pages they scan for errors, privacy issues, etc. What about a free tool that runs locally on your PC and spell checks unlimited web pages? Here comes Spell Checker extension for  Firefox web browser. This free Firefox extension is developed by  Gaurang, a Software Test Engineer based out in India.
