    If I reach left-most end of a line and press left-arrow it doesn't take me to the previous line. Similarly, if I keep pressing right arrow, the cursor keeps going towards infinity, without ever moving to the next line. How do I change this behavior to desired one?

  • How can I prevent Virtualmin from storing passwords in cleartext?

    I am really surprised at this behavior. In Virtualmin, I can see the password for any SSH user by clicking the "(Show..)" link next to the "Password ( ) Leave unchanged" option in a variety of locations. I have found that the passwords for all users including users with SSH access are stored in cleartext files in /etc/webmin/... This seems like an unnecessary risk! How can I prevent Virtualmin from storing passwords in this manner?

  • Linux (Ubuntu 12.04) two gateways one nic

    I have Ubuntu 12.04 Server edition Two gateways, both on 192.168.0. network, let's make them 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 I've read you should be able to add second gateway into /etc/network/interfaces, that it will build out all the routing automatically, but I get "duplicate option" error. So if I have one default gateway, let's say 0.1, and a connection comes through from the 0.2 gateway, my understanding is that it still tries to respond through 0.1 gateway. Can we change this behavior?

  • Can Windows 7 Jump Lists be made to behave like menus when dragged out with a mouse?

    On a traditional menu, if you mousedown on the menu title, drag down, then release on a menu item, it will trigger that menu item immediately, e.g. in Notepad: Left mouse button down on File Drag down to New Release mouse button will start a new file without requiring an additional click. However, when dragging out a Jump List on Windows 7, you must additionally click the desired item to launch it. Is there any way to change this behavior?

  • vsftp on CentOS - unable to get a folder list of /var directory

    Hi, I'm just getting started with CentOS and running into a strange issue with vsftp. When I FTP in, then change directory to /var I don't get a folder list. Is there something about CentOS or vsftp in particular that I may be missing that causes this behavior? The permissions on the folder are like others that I am able to see while connected via FTP.   • How to make mouse wheel to scroll control under mouse cursor?

    Currently, mouse wheel scrolls the control that has keyboard focus. That's not good when window has several scrollable controls, because I have to click control first and then scroll. And the same again when trying to scoll another control. Especially bad, when that control has some action associated with click (like MSDN's article list - it opens new article on click). So, is there any tool to fix mouse scroll behavior?

  • Unusual Apache->Tomcat caching issue.

    Right now, I have an Apache setup sitting in front of Tomcat to handle caching. This setup has been given to an external service to manage, and since the transition, I've noticed odd behavior. Specifically, when I request a swf file from the web server, I hit the Apache cache (good), but occasionally I'll receive a truncated file. Once I receive this truncated file, the cache will NOT refresh until I manually delete the cache and let the swf pull down from tomcat again. The external service claims that the configuration is fine, but I don't see any way this could be happening aside from improper configuration. Now, there are two apache and two tomcat servers under a load balancer, and occasionally one apache cache will break while another does not (leading to 50% of all requests getting bad, truncated data). Where should I start looking to debug this issue? What could POSSIBLY be causing this odd behavior?     Hey everyone, I'm looking for a utility for Windows that will, with a keyboard shortcut send an application to the system tray, and hitting the same keystroke (or even a different one) to restore it. This behavior is very similar to Apple + . when using Tweetie to show/hide the app in OS X. I know of applications like Tray it!, and Autohotkey, but I wanted to know if there was one that did it all. Does anyone have a solution for this that they have found?

    When I try to update a driver via the device manager, windows 7 tells me that windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date even though I know that mine is newer (due to the version number), and refuses to install it.     Does ssh-keygen -t rsa work if only set for root user i.e, if the username on local system is sodium and i generate the key using the above said command and on the remote system if i place the key in /root/.ssh authorized_keys ,this works. But on the remote system if the key is placed in /home/natrium/.ssh authorized_keys This still prompts for a password.Is this the expected behavior or is that some thing wrong in the above procedure Thanks..

    Pre-Snow Leopard, I could use the following command: defaults write com.apple.loginwindow Finder /Applications/My-replacement-app-such-as-Terminal.app Which would a.) replace the Finder launching at login with an application of my choice, and b.) cause that application to launch instead of Finder when all other applications are quit. Is it possible to do this in Snow Leopard, or has this behavior been deprecated? (I don't want to disable Finder altogether, I just don't want it to start at login.)

  • Typing filename in standard open file dialog (Windows 7) - file name suggestion

    When you use standard windows open file dialog and start typing it puts files whose name starts with what you type to drop down list. But on another pc with same Windows 7 it also puts first of them into input box in which you type - like FF does with URLS, allowing you to immediately press Enter (without pressing 'Down' to select file). I don't know why this behavior is different, but I want suggested file name shown in input box. How could it be achieved? Thanks.

    I have a Logitech MK250 keyboard I use with my Macbook. One day the "minor/mayor than" and the "back slash" keys flip their functionality, so I have to hit "backslash" to get a "minor than" symbol and press the "alt + minor than" key to get the "backslash". Is there any way to reverse this annoying behavior? I often switch to Windows, where the keys work the expected way, and I'm always missing the right key.

I use Ubuntu Lucid, but this behavior is present on laptops running Windows 7 too.

  • splitting off an emacs window into a new frame

    From a frame displaying multiple windows, I'd like to be able to 'break' one of the windows off into another frame, perhaps with a modifier-click on the modeline, where the window would now have its own frame but hold the same buffer and position. I was wondering if this behavior was available somewhere in the standard library, if there was an extension for it, or perhaps if a small elisp function would work.
