  • phpmyadmin login redirect fails with custom ssl port

    The server is running Ubuntu 10.10, Apache 2.2.16, PHP 5.3.3-1ubuntu9.3, phpMyAdmin 3.3.7deb5build0.10.10.1. Since this same server is also running Zimbra on port 443, I've configured apache to serve SSL on port 81. So far, I have one CMS script running on this virtual host successfully. However, when I access /phpmyadmin (set up with the default alias) on my custom ssl port and submit the login form, I am redirected to http://vhost.domain.com:81/index.php?TOKEN=foo (note the http:// instead of the https:// that the login url was using). This generates an Error 400 Bad Request complaining about "speaking plain HTTP to an SSL-enabled server port." I can then manually change the http:// to https:// in the URL and use phpmyadmin as expected. I was annoyed enough to spend an hour trying to fix it and now even more annoyed that I cannot figure it out. I've tried various things, including: Adding $cfg['PmaAbsoluteUri'] = 'https://vhost.domain.com:81/phpmyadmin/'; to the /usr/share/phpmyadmin/config.inc.php file but this did not correct the problem (even though /usr/share/phpmyadmin/libraries/auth/cookie.auth.lib.php looks like it should honor it and use it as the redirect). Adding $cfg['ForceSSL'] = 1; to the same config.inc.php but then apache spirals into an infinite redirect. Adding a rewrite rule to the vhost-ssl conf file in apache but I was unable to figure out the condition to use when http:// was present along with the correct ssl port of :81. Lots of googling. Everything in the apache config seems to work ok - the rewrite from non-ssl to ssl, the http authentication, the problem only happens when I am submitting the login form for phpmyadmin from https://vhost.domain.com:81/index.php. Other configs: The phpmyadmin config is completely default and the php.ini has only had some minor changes to memory and timeout limits. These seem to work fine, as mentioned, another php script runs with no problem and phpmyadmin works great once I manually enter in the correct schema after login. I'm looking for either a bandaid I can add to save me the trouble of manually entering in the https:// after login, a real fix that will make phpmyadmin behave as I think it should or some greater understanding of why my desired config is not possible.

What am I missing here? Do I need to edit /etc/services for this to work?

  • Connecting to MSP430 via /dev/ttyACM0

    I'd like some suggestions about how to fix garbled serial output from a device connected on /dev/ttyACM0. Lately I've been working on a development project making use of TI's MSP430 microcontroller (specifically the eZ430-RF2560). Over on this thread you can see we've been testing some code and have found that the output of the microcontroller over serial is garbled. The btstack provides simple counter test program. When we run the program and look at the serial port output using PuTTY on Windows 7 we see: rfcomm_send_internal cid 117 doesn't exist! BTstack counter 26230 rfcomm_send_internal cid 117 doesn't exist! BTstack counter 26231 However if we connect from various Ubuntu clients we get something like: Stt.R. BTacn 0 BTacn 002BTacn 0 BTcct 04BTtacoe 5BTacun My current belief is that this is because the device is being detected by cdc_acm as a generic USB ACM device. Another thread about a similar microcontroller suggests that the device should use a specific usb serial driver. We've verified that the module is compiled on our system and did a "modprobe ti_usb_3410_5052" but this had no effect on cdc_acm.   • Apache2 - Hosting two sites on the same domain with different ports

    I am hosting a staging site (test.mydomain.com) which currently work well on port 80 for two sites (test.mydomain.com and test.FRmydomain.com) I am working on a new backend and I would like to deploy a third site on this server for testing. My hope is that it will live at test.mydomain.com:4204. I've got some experience with apache and quickly added statements: Listen 4204 NameVirtualHost *:4204 and created a new config for my site. What I imagine are the relevant parts of my config: <VirtualHost *:4204 > ServerAdmin [email protected].com ServerName test.mydomain.com:4204 However, the site is not publicly available, by name or ip. If i curl localhost:4204 from the server, I get the expected page content At this point, I'm a bit of a loss on how to go forwards. It seems like my config is correct but not available to be served. Am I better off defining a proxy definition so that, for instance: test.mydomain.com/4204 proxies to my localhost server or is there a way to make the site available via the internet? EDIT: I have added an iptable rule after further Googling with the command: iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 4204 -j ACCEPT I can see apache listening on 4204 and the rule is definitely in place but cant reach the site

    I have changed in the searched preferences to google.com but still when I do search from the address bar (instant or non-instant) it will go to google.co.kr. Even though I change "Google.com in English", still same... The only way is to open google.com website first, then do search in it. So the question - is there any way to force Chrome to search in Google.com instead of google.co.kr? I understand there is some geolocational checking/redirecting, but there must be some way to force...

  • IIS - Forwarding requests to a folder to another port

    Context I currently installed Glassfish 3 in a server that currently holds ASP and PHP inside Internet Information Server 7 so we can start moving to a new system architecture (the information system is being remade). Obviously, Glassfish uses another port and without too much configuration (all I had to do is to install it) it worked. If I write www.domain.com:8080, the person will be redirected to the Glassfish server. Issue Obviously I don't want the person to write the port! I also believe it might also hold some security issues. Requirement I need the server to take an address of the form www.domain.com/gf or new.domain.com or something alike, and when it receives such a request, "redirect" (masking the URL) the user to the Glassfish website (www.domain.com:8080).   • WS2008 NTP - Using time.windows.com,0x9 - Time always skewed forwards

    I have a domain controller configured to use time.windows.com (with 0x09 flags set). I've noticed that frequently the systems' clock is fast - it varies from 10 minutes to even 45 minutes. I always have to keep resetting the system date/time back to what it should be. When I run "w32tm /query /source" it tells me it's using time.windows.com, and obviously I trust Microsoft not to serve incorrect times, but why is my server's clock fast? EDIT: There are a few Time-Service events in the System log: Event ID: 142 Message: The time service has stopped advertising as a time source because the local clock is not synchronized. Event ID: 139 Message: The time service has started advertising as a time source. These two messages appear in pairs every hour or so. Event 142 appears 14 to 16 minutes after 139 appears. Going back a few months, these events appear: Event ID: 35 Message: The time service is now synchronizing the system time with the time source time.windows.com,0x9 (ntp.m|0x9|0.0.0.0:123-65.55.21.21:123). Event ID: 37 Message: The time provider NtpClient is currently receiving valid time data from time.windows.com,0x9 (ntp.m|0x9|0.0.0.0:123-65.55.21.21:123). Event ID: 47 Message: Time Provider NtpClient: No valid response has been received from manually configured peer time.windows.com,0x9 after 8 attempts to contact it. This peer will be discarded as a time source and NtpClient will attempt to discover a new peer with this DNS name. The error was: The time sample was rejected because: The peer is not synchronized, or it has been too long since the peer's last synchronization. These three events only appear once in the log, back in October.

  • ssh connection slow when using @hostname.com but now when using @ipaddress

    When connecting to a Debian server using ssh, if I use [email protected] (the IP address of hte server) the connection is instant. If however I use user@hostname.com (a DNS redirected to the IP address of the server) the ssh connection hangs for a 20 seconds before connecting successfully. The ssh logs show the following: [alex@alex home]$ ssh -v -v git@hotname.com OpenSSH_5.5p1, OpenSSL 1.0.0c-fips 2 Dec 2010 debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config debug1: Applying options for * debug2: ssh_connect: needpriv 0 and here it hangs during 20 seconds before continuing. I think it might have something to do with reverse DNS or similar (the server does not really "know" it's name is hostname.com, it just has that DNS rediriected to its IP address). I have added the following options to /etc/ssh/sshd_config: UseDNS no GSSAPIAuthentication no to no effect. The server's DNS records in /etc/resolv.conf are configured correctly: ping hostname.com PING sub.domain.com (X.X.X.X) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from replicant (X.X.X.X): icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.029 ms 64 bytes from replicant (X.X.X.X): icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.050 ms?s Thanks for the help. Solution: It seems the DSL router my ISP saddled me with was causing the trouble. Changing my DNS server from 192.168.1.1 (router's IP) to google's (8.8.8.8, always good to know when you are in a hurry) instantly solved the connection delay problem. I am guessing that the 50€ router provided does not cache DNS entries, although I don't understand why pinging the DNS address had no delay, and 20 seconds is too long of a wait, even for uncached DNS. Tnanks again for the help!

If I were to configure that file properly, it seems I would successfully connect to whatever default directory is specified in the default-ssl file. But I want to connect to my website. Any ideas? I have a plug in PCI card with two serial ports that are being registered with Linux as ttyS2 and ttyS3. Unfortunately I am trying to run some software which assumes that ttyS0 and ttyS1 are available. Is it possible to remap the serial port device names (using a udev rule?) such that ttyS0 remains as it is and ttyS2 becomes ttyS1?

I thought "public network" / "workplace network" and so on is influencing the windows firewall rules!?
