  • Linq qurery with multiple where's

    I am trying the to query my Status Update repository using the following var result = (from s in _dataContext.StatusUpdates where s.Username == "friend1" && s.Username == "friend2" etc... select s).ToList(); Insead of using s.Username == "friendN" continously is there anyway I can pass a list or array or something like that rather that specifying each one, or can i use a foreach loop in the middle of the query.   • Looping an animation made with script.aculo.us

    I've created an animation using script.aculo.us. However, when the animation is finished, I want to have it reset all the objects and perform the animation again. I plan to just reset the positions of the objects manually, but how can I make the animations loop? If I put the effect declarations inside a for or while loop, it just crashes the browser. Any ideas?

  • PHP - Get dates of next 5 weekdays?

    I'm trying to create an array of the next 5 working week days (Monday - Friday, excluding today). I know the working week varies around the world but this is not important for what I am trying to do. So, for example, if today is a Wednesday, I want the dates for Thursday and Friday of the current week and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the following week. I thought this would work: $dates = array(); for ($i = 1; $ < 6; $i ++) { $dates[] = date('Y-m-d', strtotime('+ '.$i.' weekday')); } But for today, it is giving me: Monday 1st Tuesday 2nd Wednesday 3rd Thursday 4th Sunday 7th!     I'm reading in some data from a file, manipulating it, and then overwriting it to the same file. Until now, I've been doing it like so: open (my $inFile, $file) or die "Could not open $file: $!"; $retString .= join ('', <$inFile>); ... close ($inFile); open (my $outFile, $file) or die "Could not open $file: $!"; print $outFile, $retString; close ($inFile); However I realized I can just use the truncate function and open the file for read/write: open (my $inFile, '+<', $file) or die "Could not open $file: $!"; $retString .= join ('', <$inFile>); ... truncate $inFile, 0; print $inFile $retString; close ($inFile); I don't see any examples of this anywhere. It seems to work well, but am I doing it correctly? Is there a better way to do this?

    How do you nest quotes in HTML beyond the second level? As far as I know, there are only 2 types of quotes - single(') and double("). I am aware of escaping - you have to escape in the code but it converts the escaped quotes back to regular quotes when it hits the browser.   • Memory Leak with jQuery UI inside UpdatePanel in ie7

    I have a fairly complex asp.net page based on UpdatePanels and jQuery UI. Unfortunately, when the panels update, the jQuery UI widgets leak memory like crazy in ie7, even if I manually 'destroy' them. Does anyone know a technique/patch to prevent these leaks? I've created a simple example page with a slider inside an UpdatePanel.   • Can I customize the indentation of ternary operators in emacs' cperl-mode?

    In emacs cperl-mode, ternary operators are not treated specially. If you break them over multiple lines, cperl-mode simply indents each line the same way it indents any continued statement, like this: $result = ($foo == $bar) ? 'result1' : ($foo == $baz) ? 'result2' : ($foo == $qux) ? 'result3' : ($foo == $quux) ? 'result4' : fail_result; This is not very readable.   • Find common nodes from two linked lists using recursion

    I have to write a method that returns a linked list with all the nodes that are common to two linked lists using recursion, without loops. For example, first list is 2 - 5 - 7 - 10 second list is 2 - 4 - 8 - 10 the list that would be returned is 2 - 10 I am getting nowhere with this.. What I have been think of was to check each value of the first list with each value of the second list recursively but the second list would then be cut by one node everytime and I cannot compare the next value in the first list with the the second list. I hope this makes sense... Can anyone help?

  • Database.ExecuteNonQuery does not return

    I have a very odd issue. When I execute a specific database stored procedure from C# using SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery, my stored procedure is never executed. Furthermore, SQL Profiler does not register the command at all. I do not receive a command timeout, and no exeception is thrown. The weirdest thing is that this code has worked fine over 1,200,000 times, but for this one particular file I am inserting into the database, it just hangs forever. When I kill the application, I receive this error in the event log of the database server: "A fatal error occurued while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 64, output error: 0). Which makes me think that the database server is receiving the command, though SQL Profiler says otherwise. I know that the appropiate permissions are set, and that the connection string is right as this piece of code and stored procedure works fine with other files. Below is the code that calls the stored procedure, it may be important to note that the file I am trying to insert is 33.5MB, but I have added more than 10,000 files larger than 500MB, so I do not think the size is the issue: using (SqlConnection sqlconn = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["TheDatabase"].ConnectionString)) using (SqlCommand command = sqlconn.CreateCommand()) { command.CommandText = "Add_File"; command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; command.CommandTimeout = 30 //should timeout in 30 seconds, but doesn't... command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ID", ID).SqlDbType = SqlDbType.BigInt; command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@BinaryData", byteArr).SqlDbType = SqlDbType.VarBinary; command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@FileName", fileName).SqlDbType = SqlDbType.VarChar; sqlconn.Open(); command.ExecuteNonQuery(); } There is no firewall between the server making the call and the database server, and the windows firewalls have been disabled to troubleshoot this issue.

My current solution is to use HTMLParser from libxml2 and xpath to find the nodes and walk through all the nodes to reconstruct this piece of HTML. This is a long an complicated code.     Got a question regarding best practices for doing parallel web service calls, in a web service. Our portal will get a message, split that message into 2 messages, and then do 2 calls to our broker. These need to be on separate threads to lower the timeout. This would allow us to have a bit more control over what is going on, but could add additional overhead. Another option brought up would be 2 asynchronous calls and manage the returns through a loop. When the calls are completed (success or error) the loop picks it up and ends. The portal service will be called about 50,000 times a day. I don't want to gold plate this sucker. I'm looking for something light weight. The services that are being called on the broker do have time out limits set, and are already heavily logged and audited, so I'm not worried on that part. This is .NET 2.0 , and as much as I would love to upgrade I can't right now. So please leave all the goodies of 2.0 out please.

  • Subclassing ViewPager Breaks Animation

    In my Android application I have an activity which uses a view pager to display 4+ pages (Fragments). I implemented buttons on each screen that move between pages by calling: pager.setCurrentItem(position, true); The view pager and fragments are all working as I desired. I then began looking for a solution to disable user swiping between pages so that the transition between pages in handled by the buttons only. The solution I found was mentioned in a few stackoverflow articles as well as This Blog that suggest subclassing the view pager to intercept touch events to disable swiping. I followed those examples by subclassing the view pager class as follows: public class ViewPager extends android.support.v4.view.ViewPager { private boolean enabled; public ViewPager(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); this.enabled = true; } @Override public boolean onTouchEvent(MotionEvent event) { if (this.enabled) { return super.onTouchEvent(event); } return false; } @Override public boolean onInterceptTouchEvent(MotionEvent event) { if (this.enabled) { return super.onInterceptTouchEvent(event); } return false; } public void setSwipingEnabled(boolean enabled) { this.enabled = enabled; } } Using the subclassed view pager and calling setSwipingEnabled(false) works as was desired. The user can no longer move between pages with swipe gestures and I can still move between pages via button clicks by calling setCurrentItem(int position, boolean smoothScroll). However using the subclass breaks the animation between pages. When I call setCurrentItem(position, true) with android.support.v4.view.ViewPager I get very clean scrolling animations between pages. When I make the same call using the subclass the screen has a very brief 'flash' and then automatically draws the new page. I would like to know how to fix the animation while retaining the ability to disable user swiping between pages. I greatly appreciate any help with this. Let me know if you need any additional information. So far I have tested using a Samsung device running 2.3.5 and an AVD emulator targeting Android 2.3.3.

    I want to tune object caching in my sharepoint environment. The way to do is check sharepoint publishing cache counter through perfmon on your farm. I have one application server and 2 WFE but when I am trying to create counter for my WFE its showing Sharepoint publishing cache but I am not able to add any instance of it but when I select my application server I can see all the instances. But If I want to check publishing hit ratio i need to run this on WFE also ...correct me if I m wrong? How to resolve this issue? Also, how to check the hit ratio as our site is not go-live so we don't get enuf users to hit the site to check this thing. Does it means that I can tune it up only my site go live and real load will get on it. Thanks, Amit

    I have to modify some code in a application I am working on that is using the array_diff($array1,$array2) method. The problem I am having is it is case sensitive and I need to have it return the correct value if the array values match even if the case is different. I don't want to change the case to lowercase because I need the value returned to keep its case. I'm a little confused as the best method to do this.

  • 2nd Year College - Learning - Microsoft Server Products

    As the title says, I just finished my first year of college (majoring in Software Engineering). Fortunately my school likes Microsoft enough, and I can get pretty much anything I want that Microsoft sells. I also can get IBM Websphere and the like for free as well. Earlier this year, I set up an oldish computer (2.6 Pentium D, x64) to run ubuntu server headless. I'm predominately a Java developer, so Apache, Maven, Nexus, Sonar, SVN, etc made it onto the machine. It worked really well for personal and school projects, especially team projects (quick ramp up). Anyways, I started to pick up C# to complement my Java knowledge (don't judge me :P), and am interested in working with some of the associated Microsoft equivalents. The machine currently has the Ubuntu install, as well as Windows 7 Ultimate. I do all of my actual development work off my laptop, also running Windows 7 Ultimate. I was wondering what software you would recommend putting on the machine. I’m not actually serving anything off the machine itself, but in Ubuntu I had it doing integration tests with Hudson on every commit, and profiling my applications, etc, etc. The machine would be running headless, and I would remote into it. Here is what I am currently leaning towards / wondering about: Windows 7 Ultimate vs Windows Server 2008 (R2) (no one is really clear why I should go with one over the other) Windows Team Foundation Sharepoint (Never used it before, kind of meh about it) IBM Websphere or Glassfish (Some Java EE web server) SQL Server 2008 A DVCS In order to better control product conflicts / limit resource use, I’m wondering if I should install things into virtual machines (I can get VmWare or Microsoft Virtualization Products) I also plan on installing everything I had running under Linux (it’s almost entirely Java based development software, so it’ll run on both, only reason I went with ubuntu during the year was because the apache build seemed better). I’m primarily looking to become familiar with enterprise software development tools, as well as get something functional that will help my development process. (IE, I’ll still use project and assign tasks even though I might be the only one to assign tasks to, just to practice doing so). Is there any other software / configuration details I should explore? Opinions on my current list? I primarily use C#, Java, and PHP. I'm familiar with ruby, and python as well. Thanks!

  • Validation of dependent properties in a "live edit" WPF app

    I'm working on an app which supports live editing. That is you update properties in one area and their impact is seen in another with hitting "apply". Happens to be a charting app. One such edit "group" allows specifying a range. A triple range in fact: High, Target and Low. Our validation is such that High must be greater than target, target must be greater than Low (rocket science). Our dilemma is that the visual experience is a bit jarring when someone wants to go from say 30,20,10 to 15,10,5. I'm curious if anyone has implemented a mechanism for this scenario that might fit well in our situation such that we don't "yell" at the user as they change the range values.
