• Why BSNL 3G not opening some websites ? [closed]

  I am Sarang Dave from India. I am using BSNL 3G prepaid wireless broad band. When I have purchased it, it could open the website : http://stackoverflow.com But, now from last 2 months, I am unable to open this website. :( I have changed my DNS server to 8.8.8.8 & Alternate server to 8.8.4.4. This both are the free google dns servers. But, still facing the same problem. For reference : http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html I am getting following error after loading : The server at stackoverflow.com is taking too long to respond. Please suggest the solution. For reference : Few websites not opening with BSNL 3g Husshhh!! Finally DNS issue solved In Pune By BSNL 3G team. BSNL 3G: Ya Sites will open now :P Thank you.

• How to modify PATH variable for X11 during log-in?

  I originally posted this over at StackOverflow, but someone said it might fit better here. Original question is here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10096327/overwriting-print-screen-actions-in-linux-without-administrative-rights. Decided to revise my question, based on what I learned there: Essentially, my problem is that I am working on some lab computers (read: no administrative rights) that, if I log in, I need to change the PATH variable as X11 starts. The reason is that I need to change the PATH variable at this time, as opposed to later, is that the Print Screen command seems to "bind" during login (forgive my bad explanation of this). You can see in the work-around I listed in the previous question, that I can make it work by starting a new X, but I was wondering if it is possible to change upon login. If this seems a poor explanation, you can check out the original link for my context and reasoning behind what I'm doing. Any ideas? Details about Distribution: cat /etc/redhat-release tells me: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Client release 5.8 (Tikanga)

• Router stopping my python server

  This was originally posted in stackoverflow.com but it was suggested I move it here after it was realized it wasn't my code that was wrong. So my problem, very simply, is that I cannot get my computers that are connected to my router to communicate. example: If I ping a wireless computer I get no responce and the Request times out If I ping a computer wired to the modem directly it works fine. • Finding out what user Apache is running as?

  I want to secure a file upload directory on my server as described beautifully here, but I have one problem before I can follow these instructions. I don't know what user Apache is running as. I've found a suggestion that you can look in httpd.conf and there will be a "User" line, but there is no such line in my httpd.conf file, so I guess Apache is running as the default user. I can't find out what that is, though. So, my question is (are): how do I find out what the default user is do I need to change the default user if the answer is yes and I change the default user by editing httpd.conf, is it likely to screw anything up? Thanks! ----- UPDATE ------ Seems to have been answered here. Sorry, I got told off on StackOverflow and told to post it here, then posted it here, then it got answered on StackOverflow anyway!

• How to keep windows 2003 Daylight Saving values updated

  My web app runs on windows 2003 .Net 3.5 I have users from Israel (GMT +2), and Israel switched to Daylight saving time on 26/3/10 so now it's (GMT +3). I use TimeZoneInfo.ConvertTime that doesn’t know the Daylight saving time switch is on 26/3/10 so it still converts to GMT +2. I asked on StackOverflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2530834/problem-with-timezoneinfo-converttime-missed-the-daylight-saving-switch/2532104#2532104 And I was told that I need to update: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Time Zones\Israel Standard Time\Dynamic DST I found this update: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976098 That supposes to fix the Dynamic DST for 2010, Is this the update I need? Where can I find an update that handles 2011 2012… ? Will I need to update my windows every year to get the DST right? Thanks.

  Hi all. Does anyone know of a hosted version of Yahoo! Answers (or Stackoverflow/Superuser) that I could integrate with my site? I know that there are some open-source implementations (see http://meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/2267/stack-overflow-clones?page=1&tab=votes#tab-top) but I'd rather have some hosted if possible. I know there is http://stackexchange.com/ as well, but I really want some tight integration with the rest of my site. Failing that, has anyone got any experience with the open source versions? • How to determine if two generic type values are equal?

  I'm trying to figure out how I can successfully determine if two generic type values are equal to each other. Based on Mark Byers' answer on this question I would think I can just use value.Equals() where value is a generic type. My actual problem is in a LinkedList implementation, but the problem can be shown with this simpler example. class GenericOjbect<T> { public T Value { get; private set; } public GenericOjbect(T value) { Value = value; } public bool Equals(T value) { return (Value.Equals(value)); } } Now I define an instance of GenericObject<StringBuilder> containing new StringBuilder("StackOverflow"). I would expect to get true if I call Equals(new StringBuilder("StackOverflow") on this GenericObject instance, but I get false. A sample program showing this: using System; using System.Text; class Program { static void Main() { var sb1 = new StringBuilder("StackOverflow"); var sb2 = new StringBuilder("StackOverflow"); Console.WriteLine("StringBuilder compare"); Console.WriteLine("1. == " + (sb1 == sb2)); Console.WriteLine("2. This is what I expected. But when comparing the GenericObject objects, its Equals() method (the third line) returns false. Interestingly enough, the fourth compare method does return true. I'd think the third and fourth comparison are actually doing the same thing. I would have expected true. Because in the Equals() method of the GenericObject class, both value and Value are of type T which in this case is a StringBuilder. Based on Mark Byers' answer in this question, I would've expected the Value.Equals() method to be using the StringBuilder's Equals() method. And as I've shown, the StringBuilder's Equal() method does return true. I've even tried public bool Equals(T value) { return EqualityComparer<T>.Default.Equals(Value, value); } but that also returns false. So, two questions here: Why doesn't the code return true? How could I implement the Equals method so it does return true?

Unfortunately, I cannot use regular expressions because I am developing on the Blackberry platform and regular expressions are not yet supported. Is there any other way that I can remove HTML from a string? I read somewhere that you can use a DOM Parser, but I couldn't find much on it. • Configure IIS 7 Reverse Proxy to connect to TeamCity Tomcat

  We have an IIS 7 webserver configured and would like to create a reverse proxy for a TeamCity installation using Tomcat on the same machine. The IIS server site is https://somesite and I would like the TeamCity to appear as https://somesite/teamcity redirecting to http://localhost:portnumber I have installed the IIS URL Rewrite extension from http://www.iis.net/download/URLRewrite and the Application Request Routing from http://www.iis.net/download/ApplicationRequestRouting to try and setup a reverse proxy but can't get it working. The closest answer I found is an old StackOverflow question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/331755/how-do-i-setup-teamcity-for-public-access-over-https which unfortunately doesn't have a working example. I've searched a quite a bit but can't seem to find a relevant example. Any help appreciated (apologies for the bold but the spam prevention won't let me post more than 1 hyperlink)

I'm on Debian Lenny, with default sshd/OpenSSH. Is this e.g. a feature of SSH protocol that allows user shell to handle sftp commands? I can't wrap my head around this because usually OpenSSH needs sftp-server module (or the internal one in newer versions) - and this makes me think that sftp commands don't even hit the shell and are handled earlier or by different code path..

  I need to process a big data file that contains multi-line records, example input: 1 Name Dan 1 Title Professor 1 Address aaa street 1 City xxx city 1 State yyy 1 Phone 123-456-7890 2 Name Luke 2 Title Professor 2 Address bbb street 2 City xxx city 3 Name Tom 3 Title Associate Professor 3 Like Golf 4 Name 4 Title Trainer 4 Likes Running Note that the first integer field is unique and really identifies a whole record. So in the above input I really have 4 records although I dont know how many lines of attributes each records may have. I need to: - identify valid record (must have "Name" and "Title" field) - output the available attributes for each valid record, say "Name", "Title", "Address" are needed fields. Example output: 1 Name Dan 1 Title Professor 1 Address aaa street 2 Name Luke 2 Title Professor 2 Address bbb street 3 Name Tom 3 Title Associate Professor So in the output file, record 4 is removed since it doen't have the "Name" field. Record 3 doesn't have Address field but still being print to the output since it is a valid record that has "Name" and "Title". Can I do this with awk? But how do i identify a whole record using the first "id" field on each line? Thanks a lot to the unix shell script expert for helping me out! :)

The IIS server site is https://somesite and I would like the TeamCity to appear as https://somesite/teamcity redirecting to http://localhost:portnumber. I have installed the IIS URL Rewrite extension and the Application Request Routing to try and setup a reverse proxy but can't get it working. The closest answer I found is an old StackOverflow question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/331755/how-do-i-setup-teamcity-for-public-access-over-https which unfortunately doesn't have any working example. I've searched a quite a bit but can't seem to find a relevant example. Any help is appreciated!

• Cant register this user

  I wanted to ask this question on meta, but it said, I have to log in first (which is where I have the problem!) I answered a question with this user. But when I tried to register and click on the stack exchange icon, it only displays three dots (animated) and never comes back. I suspected a firefox problem so I tried firefox on windows: And yes, I was able to create an account linked with my other accounts ( http://unix.stackexchange.com/users/27867/holgero and http://stackoverflow.com/users/1779245/holgero ) when I ran the latest firefox version under windows 7 in a virtual box. Then I upgraded my linux firefox to the newest version and deleted the other account under windows again. But still I cannot register this account ( http://superuser.com/users/177338/holgero ). On unix.stackexchange or stackoverflow I never had any problems with the registration, superuser seems to be different. So, how do I register this user and have it linked with my other stackexchange accounts?

• Benefits of log rotation

  I have been using logrotation for years and never thought too much of it being a problem until I came across a question on stackoverflow (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1508734/disable-java-log-rotation/) where someone wants to disable log rotation. To me with experience in having build server and even production servers cleaned up manually because logs are not rotated and discs are running out and suddenly machines come to a halt that all seems crazy, but it occurred to me that maybe it is not so obvious after all. So what are the benefits of log rotation? And what are the drawbacks (e.g. more difficult to debug/analyze maybe)? What tools do you find useful for working with rotated log files? Splunk I assume, but what else?

I think firewall on the server is stopping my program to access that port. How can I configure the firewall of server to allow my program to use that port.   I'm doing a traceroute from my box to ....say.... stackoverflow.com. I see a couple of instances where there are multiple ip's on one line. For instance, in below, line #2 has two IPs: 10.1.6.5 and 10.1.4.5 Also on line #4, there are two timestamps after 216.182.236.96: 0.653 ms and 0.637 ms What are these? • Mercurial changeset hook problem when auto updating. Server permissions maybe??

  I am using Mercurial SCM over a LAN using a normal shared folder instead of http and i'm having a problem getting the auto update hook to run. I have entered this hook as detailed here: http://mercurial.selenic.com/wiki/FAQ#FAQ.2BAC8-CommonProblems.Any_way_to_.27hg_push.27_and_have_an_automatic_.27hg_update.27_on_the_remote_server.3F This installs the hook, but when i push something to the remote repo i get an error: added 1 changesets with 1 changes to 1 files running hook changegroup: hg update >&2 warning: changegroup hook exited with status -1 There is a stackoverflow question similar to this here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2885246/mercurial-auto-update-problem but it offers no solutions other than it may be a permissions error somewhere. Has anyone else had this problem and can anyone else shed any more light on this or give me a heads up on where to start fixing this? Thanks.
