    Is there a way to format a UTC time into any arbitrary string format I want in java? Basically I was thinking of having some class take the timestamp and I pass it is string telling it how I want it formated, and it returns the formatted string for me. Is there a way to do this?

    Hi, I am fetching a RSS, in which i receive the following Date stamp: 2010-05-10T06:11:14.000Z Now i am using NSDateFormatter to parse this datetime stamp. [parseFormatter setDateFormat:@"yyyy-MM-dTH:m:s.z"]; But its not working fine if just remove the time stamp part it works for the date [parseFormatter setDateFormat:@"yyyy-MM-d"]; But if i add the rest of the stuff it returns nil. Any idea ? Thanks in Advance....

  • Python code formatting

    In response to another question of mine, someone suggested that I avoid long lines in the code and to use PEP-8 rules when writing Python code. One of the PEP-8 rules suggested avoiding lines which are longer than 80 characters. I changed a lot of my code to comply with this requirement without any problems. However, changing the following line in the manner shown below breaks the code. Any ideas why? Does it have to do with the fact that what follows return command has to be in a single line?     I've been doing a convert(varchar,datefield,112) on each date field that I'm using in 'between' queries in SQL server to ensure that I'm only accounting for dates and not missing any based on the time part of datetime fields. Now, I'm hearing that the converts aren't indexable and that there are better methods, in SQL Server 2005, to compare the date part of datetimes in a query to determine if dates fall in a range. What is the optimal, indexable, method of doing something like this: select * from appointments where appointmentDate='08-01-2008' and appointmentDate<'08-15-2008'

    Hi all, I have used wmd-editor in my cakephp v1.3 application.     So from the code below, I have managed to get the string *tempstring into an array chunk. Now chunk[0] contains 'a' while chunk[1] contains 'aa'. I am trying to format chunk[0] to '0a' which I can using the replaceObjectAtIndex method. Here's my question: How do I detect that chunk[0] is formatted as 'a' and not '0a'. I want to check all the indexes and make sure they have double digits and if not use a 0 to prefix it.     Before I wander off and roll my own I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to do the following sort of thing... Currently I am using MessageFormat to create some strings. I now have the requirement that some of those strings will have a variable number of arguments. For example (current code): MessageFormat.format("{0} OR {1}", array[0], array[1]); Now I need something like: // s will have "1 OR 2 OR 3" String s = format(new int[] { 1, 2, 3 }); and: // s will have "1 OR 2 OR 3 OR 4" String s = format(new int[] { 1, 2, 3, 4 }); There are a couple ways I can think of creating the format string, such as having 1 String per number of arguments (there is a finite number of them so this is practical, but seems bad), or build the string dynamically (there are a lot of them so this could be slow). Any other suggestions?

    We store a decimal(9,8) in our database. It can have any number of places after the decimal point (well, no more than 8). I am frustrated because I want to display it as human-readable text as part of a larger string created on the server. I want as many decimals to the right of the decimal point as are non-zero, for example: 0.05 0.12345 3.14159265 Are all good If I do CAST(d AS varchar(50)) I get formatting like: 0.05000000 0.12345000 3.14159265 I get similar output if I cast/convert to a float or other type before casting to a varchar. I know how to do a fixed number of decimal places, such as: 0.050 0.123 3.142 But that is not what I want. Yes, I know I can do this through complicated string manipulation (REPLACE, etc), there should be a good way to do it.

    I have this setup class User { Date lastLogin // logins is a history of logins static hasMany = [logins : Date] def setLastLogin(Date date) { if (date) { lastLogin = date addToLogins(date) } } } GORM is generating a table MEMBER_LOGINS which currently looks like this: USER_ID, LOGINS Instead I would like USER_ID, DATE I tried adding a mapping in User static mapping = { logins column: 'date'; } But that just changed the foreign key so i now have DATE, LOGINS How can I change the LOGINS column?     I'm using the jQuery-UI Sortable Connected Lists. I'm saving the order of the connected lists to a Rails server. My approach is to grab the list ID, column ID and index position of each list item. I want to then wrap this into an object that can be passed as a parameter back to the Rails Controller to be saved into the database. So ideally i'm looking to format the parameter like this: Parameters: {"Activity"=>[{id:1,column:2,position:1},{id:2,column:2,position:2} ,...]} How do I properly format my parameters to be passed in this Ajax POST request?     When you choose a log scale, ggplot2 formats the breaks like 10^x. I'd like it to not do that.
