• CultureInfo on a IValueConverter implementation

  When a ValueConverter is used as part of a binding, one of the parameters to the Convert function is a System.Globalization.CultureInfo object. Can anyone tell me where this culture object gets its info from? I have some code that formats a date based on that culture. When i access my silverlight control which is hosted on my machine, it formats the date correctly (using the d/MM/yyyy format, which is set as the short date format on my machine). When i access the same control hosted on a different server (from my client machine), the date is being formatted as MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss - which is totally wrong. Coincidentally the regional settings on the server are set to the same as my client machine. This is the code for my value converter: public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) { if (value is DateTime) { if (parameter != null && !string.IsNullOrEmpty(parameter.ToString())) return ((DateTime)value).ToString(parameter.ToString()); else return ((DateTime)value).ToString(culture.DateTimeFormat.ShortDatePattern); } return value; } basically, a specific format can be specified as the converter parameter, but if it isn't then the short date pattern of the culture object is used.

• How do I insert and query a DateTime object in SQLite DB from C# ?

  Hi All, Consider this snippet of code: string sDate = string.Format("{0:u}", this.Date); Conn.Open(); Command.CommandText = "INSERT INTO TRADES VALUES(" + "\"" + this.Date + "\"" + "," +this.ATR + "," + "\"" + this.BIAS + "\"" + ")"; Command.ExecuteNonQuery(); Note the "this.Date" part of the command. Now Date is an abject of type DateTime of C# environment, the DB doesnt store it(somewhere in SQLite forum, it was written that ADO.NET wrapper automatically converts DateTime type to ISO1806 format) But instead of this.Date when I use sDate (shown in the first line) then it stores properly. My probem actually doesnt end here. Even if I use "sDate", I have to retrieve it through a query. And that is creating the problem Any query of this format SELECT * FROM <Table_Name> WHERE DATES = "YYYY-MM-DD" returns nothing, whereas replacing '=' with '' or '<' returns right results. So my point is: How do I query for Date variables from SQLite Database. And if there is a problem with the way I stored it (i.e non 1806 compliant), then how do I make it compliant

• JAVA: ICEFACES: component <ice:selectInputDate> mapped on a "java.util.Calendar" field

  Does anybody knows how can component <ice:selectInputDate> be mapped on a java.util.Calendar field, not java.util.Date? I am using from IceFaces version 1.8.2, the component <ice:selectInputDate>. This component requires to be bound with a java.util.Date proeprty. For example, value="#{bean.myDate}", the myDate field must be of type java.util.Date. But I need my date field to be of type java.util.Calendar. • Decompiling a *.DLL to assembly for .net in delphi 4

  I love my Delphi 4 but at the same time I see the need to talk to windows .net This is a recompiled dll that I found on sourceforge.net/projects/delphinet/ (DelphiNet03.zip) by some nice people that fund the dll from some were. The real answer is to make this dll so that fits into Delphi as true Delphi code, and not a dll clip on. So we can make objects that use dot net in Delphi. Because I’m not an assembly freak, I’m freaking out a little with a wee sweek for help! 1/ How do I link the asm code with the data info at the bottom of this code. Can some one show me which calls to look for to make this link to data. 2/ I need to find the beginning of all the procedures and functions, but I cannot find a ‘RET’ statement. • C#: Regex to extract portions of file name

  I have text files formatted as such: R156484COMP_004A7001_20100104_065119.txt I need to consistently extract the R****COMP, the 004A7001 number, 20100104 (date), and don't care about the 065119 number. the problem is that not ALL of the files being parsed have the exact naming convention. some may be like this: R168166CRIT_156B2075_SU2_20091223_123456.txt or R285476COMP_SU1_125A6025_20100407_123456.txt So how could I use regex instead of split to ensure I am always getting that serial (ex. 004A7001), the date (ex. 20100104), and the R****COMP (or CRIT)???   I'm using linq to SQL and MVC2 with data annotations and I'm having some problems on validation of some types. So if the input is not a date, the regex does not even run, cos the data annotations just get a null, cos the model binder couldn't make it to a DateTime. Does anyone have an idea how to make this work?

  Hi, I am using inline editing using Jeditable and datepicker. I have a column in my table which displays Date as a hyperlink. When I click on this it shows me the datepicker. And when a particular date is selected its updated in the backend and the cell now is updated with the changed value. However, am having problem with onblur event while changing month or years. This event gets triggered when I click on "Prev" or "Next" buttons on the datepicker control. This causes an exception when the date is selected. This works fine as long as the date selected is in the current month. I tried all possible solutions listed here: stackoverflow.com/questions/2007205/jeditable-datepicker-causing-blur-when-changing-month If settimeout the control does not change back to a normal hyperlink on closing the datepicker or on a true onblur event.   I'm building a custom expression parser and evaluator for production enviroment to provide a limited DSL to the users. The parser itself as the DSL, need to be simple. The parser is going to be built in an exotic language that doesn't support dynamic expression parsing nor has any parser generator tools available. My decision is to go for recursive descent approach with LL(1) grammar, so that even programmers with no previous experience in evaluating expression could quickly learn how the code works. It has to handle mixed expressions made up of several data types: decimals, percentages, strings and dates. And dates in the format of dd/mm/yyyy are easy to confuse with a string of devision ops. Is where a good solution to this problem? My own solution that is aimed at keeping the parser simple involves prefixing dates with a special symbol, let's say apostrophe: <date> ::= <apostr><digit><digit>/<digit><digit>/<digit><digit><digit><digit> <apostr> ::= ' <digit> ::= '0'..'9'

  I have a Visual Studio 2008 Solution where the main output exe is a VB.Net Winforms exe which has several VB.Net and C# dll's linked from the same solution. The whole solution is under version control with subversion. Now I want to automagically update by generated files with the current svn revision number. For this purpose I found this neat project: http://svnversiontasks.codeplex.com/ You also need the MSBuild.Communuity.Tasks for this to work. • Date from String using NSDateFormatter regardless 12h-24h setting

  Hello everybody, Today my question is about date formats and strings. My application downloads some strings representing dates from the internet. The date format is always like this: "2010-05-24 at 20:45" I need to convert this string into an NSDate object in order to perform some date manipulations. I tried this code: NSString * dateString = @"2010-05-24 at 20:45" // actually downloaded from the internet NSDateFormatter * myDateFormatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init]; [myDateFormatter setDateFormat:@"yyyy-MM-dd 'at' HH:mm"]; NSDate * dateFromString = [myDateFormatter dateFromString:dateString]; This seems to work perfectly fine as long as the iPhone is set to 24h clock. As long as I switch to 12h clock in the general settings the NSDate object is not created (and the application happily crashes) I have read others having similar problems but I don't seem to find a solution. Now the questions: It doesn't make sense to me that the NSDateFormatter is sensible to user settings as long as I am specifying which format it is supposed to use to parse the string (which is not modifiable because it comes from the web), what's the use of checking user settings? More important, how can I get my task performed (to get an NSDate object from the string regardless the user settings)?

• jQuery ui datepicker positioning problem when scrolling down webpage

  I have a webpage that uses multiple instances of the jQuery ui datepicker. My webpage will display ~80 records which extends beyond a single screenshot. <% foreach (var record in Model) { %> <div class="recordname"><%=record.name%></div> <%=Html.TextBox("DateTimePicker", null, new { @class = "date-pick" } )%> // <-- additional html here --> <% } %> I have set the defaults of my datepicker as follows: $(".date-pick").each(function() { $(this).datepicker({ dateFormat: 'dd M yy', showOn: 'button', buttonImage: '/Images/datepickericon.png', buttonImageOnly: true }); }); When the page first loads, if I click any datepicker icon that is visible on screen (i.e. without scrolling) then the datepicker appears as expected. However, if I scroll down the page and then click a datepicker icon, the datepicker does not appear in the screen window but is instead rendered right back near the top of the screen. Any ideas how to solve this? I am using: IE7 asp.net mvc jquery.ui.datepicker.js (UI/API/1.8/Datepicker)

• Sorting, Filtering and Paging in ASP.NET MVC

  What is the best approach to implement these features and which part of project would involved? I see some example of JavaScript grids, but I'm talking about a general approach which best fits the MVC architecture. I've considered configuring routes and models to implement these features but I don't have a clear idea that if this is the right approach to implementing such features. On the one hand, I think if we put logic in routes (item/page/sort/), we would have benefits like bookmarking and avoiding JavaScript. On the other hand if we use JavaScript grids, we can have behavior like the old school grid views in ASP.NET web forms. I find that using HTML helpers may be useful for paging, but have no idea if they are good for sorting or not. I've looked at jQuery, tableSorter and quick search plug-ins, but they work just on the currently-fetched data and won't help in real sorting and filtering that may need to touch the database. I have some thoughts on using these tools side by side with AJAX to get something which works, but I have no idea if there are similar efforts done yet anywhere. Another approach I looked at was using Dynamic Data on web forms, but I didn't find any suggestions out there as to whether or not it is a good idea to integrate MVC and DD. I know implementing filtering and sorting for an individual case is simple (although it has some issues like using Dynamic LINQ, which is not yet a standard approach), but creating a sorting or filtering tool which works in all cases is the idea I'm looking for. (Maybe this is because I want have something in hand when web form developers are wondering why I'm writing same code each time I want to implement a sort scenario for different Entities).

When I deploy my WAR file, I get log4j:ERROR setFile(null,true) call failed. java.io.FileNotFoundException: file:C:\Apps\Apache\Tomcat7\logs\GEM.log (The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect) stack trace... It is true that the log file does not exist (the folder structure does), but if I set the file directly to that path (<param name="File" value="C:/Apps/Apache/Tomcat7/logs/GEM.log" />) it works fine. Why can't I use the replacement string?
