  • Intel Rapid Start Driver Reinstallation doesn't work?

    I recently had to reformat my entire drive and reinstall Windows 7. Something that bothers me is that when I was downloading the Intel Rapid Start driver (I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y480, and it comes standard with the Rapid Start) and tried to install it, the installer claimed that my system did not meet the requirements in order to install, when it was previously installed by the OEM. My startup times have increased from 21 seconds to log-in screen to 50 seconds. Please help... Specs: Lenovo Ideapad Y480 Intel Core i7-3610 Ivy Bridge (quad-core) Nvidia Geforce 640M LE with 2gb VRAM 8GB RAM 1TB hard drive, 32 GB SSD (OEM installed)

  • iCal and Windows 7: Do they work together?

    I'm about to buy an iTouch, mainly because of the iCal. I'm a Windows user, so does anyone know if these two play well together? I'd prefer to be able to update my calendar from either the computer or iTouch and sync. I've searched Google, but I'm sceptic so far.   • Aventail VPN connection doesn't work

    I installed the Aventail VPN client on both the Mac and a Windows 7 machine, both on my home network. When I try to connect one or the other (I make sure one is disconnected before connecting through the other machine), I get a connection and view the correct certificate - accept it and Aventail tells me that I am connected. However, accessing any page inside my company's network is only possible on Windows. On the Mac I get this page: It looks like my ISP doesn't know how to redirect me? Maybe something about my DNS being set incorrectly on the Mac? Our helpdesk has been completely useless.

  • Dynamic content doesn't work when loaded with ajax

    I'm trying to load some dynamic content after the user has logged in, using $.ajax, like so: $.ajax({ url: "functions.php", type: "GET", data: login_info, datatype: 'html', async: false, success: function (response) { $('#main').html(response); } }); The problem is, that some events don't work, when loaded this way. I fixed the buttons with the .live() method, but a sortable list for example, doesn't work. How can I somehow refresh the DOM, and let jquery know of these new added elements? Thanks!

  • USB webcam detected in KVM, but doesn't work

    I have installed XP in a virtual machine running on Linux with QEMU/KVM (qemu-kvm-0.11.0-4.5.2). I export my Linux webcam to KVM using the switches "-usb -usbdevice host:046d:0929". The XP guest sees the webcam and the drivers install, but the camera only shows a black image. When I open the camera in Windows Explorer, it says "0 images" and a black image, while on a real XP, it says "1 image" and shows the video from the camera. I tried the same with a different webcam, but the result is the same. Any ideas what might be wrong or how I could debug this ?

    I have 2 VMs in HyperV role: first is RRAS - it has 2 interfaces (both manually configured, no DHCP): 192.168.1.110 - "external" one, connected to the router 192.168.10.2 - that's internal interface which other VMs will be using as well also I added VPN connection to our main server - and it gets 192.168.2.136 IP address in 192.168.2.XXX network. And IP route is create on the server as well for this interface. second VM is called KITCHENER. It only has 1 interface 192.168.10.99 / 255.255.255.0, with default gateway set to RRAS server - 192.168.10.2 QUESTION: how can I ping "main server" - 192.168.2.1 - from the KITCHENER server when RRAS server is connected to VPN? please see screenshots with ipconfig /all, route print and ping 192.168.2.1 commands. What needs to be done to get this working? all servers are Windows 2008 R2 if that matters.

    I have this in /etc/named.conf, I commented the default values and set my own under it. My domain would not load in browser unless I set allow-query to "any", is this OK, what should I edit? If is localhost or 127.0.0.1; 10.0.1.0/24; domain would not load.     Here is a question from not so computer savvy user. I have installed VPN client from my workplace on my personal home computer and use it to take brief connections to their network. Just recently I started to think, can they access my home folder and copy all the files from there? I have Windows 7 Pro. My home computer does not belong to the domain of my workplace and there is no addministrators account active on my computer, just my own. What is possible and what's not? Can't seem to find any specific answers by googling. Really awful thought they could snoop all around on my pc.

  • Nginx deny doesn't work for folder files

    I'm trying to restrict access to my site to allow only specific IPs and I've got the following problem: when I access www.example.com deny works perfectly, but when I try to access www.example.com/index.php it returns "Access denied" page AND php file is downloaded directly in browser without processing. I do want to deny access to all the files on the website for all IPs but mine. How should I do that?   • where does a novice begin with error logging in asp.net c# ?

    i'm a novice teaching myself asp.net in c# via trial and error learn by doing, unfortunately this means lots of errors! i have a custom errors page now that is basically a 404 so that site visitors don't get that ugly application error message .NET throws, but i WOULD like to be able to see what's going wrong myself as people use the site. so i'm looking to build or learn from a fairly basic error logging c# class, that will send the same information given in a browser when hitting a .NET error, send this into a TXT file and email me the error at the same time would be great i don't know where to even begin, can someone give me some pointers? an open source class that does this already that i could plugin and play with would work as well. otherwise some links or guidance on where to start reading would be great too. i sort of have a mental block on understand msdn info-dump pages though, i'm hoping to find some articles on real people talking about implementing the same thing themselves or something like that please note i'm not looking to use some extensive or complicated third party service for this, i'm hoping to learn from the process of implementing a concise customized one

  • vi visual mode doesn't work

    I'm running vim (7.0.237) after sshing to a remote CentOS box, and it just won't enter visual mode. When I press 'v', it just beeps and does nothing. I'm running Ubuntu with GNOME Terminal, and the local copy of vi works fine, so I don't see how this could be a problem with the terminal. I have the same .vimrc file on the local and remote machines, and the only settings are: set nocompatible; set tabstop=4. I'm at a total loss here, any ideas?

  • ASA5505 Novice. Setting up Outside/Inside/and DMZ as Guest Network

    I need a little help in developing a config for our ASA5505. I'm an MCSA/MCITPAS but I don't have a lot of practical cisco experience. Here is what I need help with, we currently have a PIX as our boarder gateway and well it's antiquated and it only has a 50 user license which means I'm constantly clearing local-host throughout the day as people complain. I discovered that the last IT person bought at couple ASA5505s and they've been sitting in the back of a cupboard. So far I've duplicated the configuration from the pix to the asa but as I was going to be going this far I thought I'd go further and remove another old cisco router that was used only for the guest network, I know the asa can do both jobs. So I'm going to paste a scenario I wrote up with the actual IPs changed to protect the innocent. ... Outside Network: 1.2.3.10 255.255.255.248 (we have a /29) Inside Network: 10.10.36.0 255.255.252.0 DMZ Network: 192.168.15.0 255.255.255.0 Outside Network on e0/0 DMZ Network on e0/1 Inside Network on e0/2-7 DMZ Network has DHCPD Enabled. DMZ DHCPD Pool is 192.168.15.50-192.168.15.250 DMZ Network needs to be able to see DNS on Inside Network at 10.10.37.11 and 10.10.37.12 DMZ Network needs to be able to access webmail on inside network at 10.10.37.15 DMZ Network needs to be able to access business website on inside network at 10.10.37.17 DMZ Network needs to be able to access the outside network (access to the internet). Inside Network has NO DHCPD. (dhcp is handled by domain controller) Inside Network needs to be able to see anything on the DMZ network.   • .htaccess deny from all does not work?

    I am running Apache 2.2.20 on a Ubuntu 11.04 web server. I have a Joomla site running on it, but I have also added some custom content. In the main web directly I have added a folder /images/sub_folder and in this sub_folder I have put a bunch of pictures. I do not want anyone to be able to simply access these pictures directly from the web, so I made a .htaccess file in that sub_folder and just put the following line in it: deny from all There doesn't seem to be any effect, I can still access the images directly from a web browser. I have restarted the Apache service. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Tim

  • Mouse wheel does not work in Excel 2007

    I am running Office 2007 on Windows XP-SP3. My mouse wheel works fine in other applications, meaning that it scrolls information up and down when the mouse is positioned over a given panel. It's even working fine in the other Office 2007 apps, so this is not a hardware or driver problem. It doesn't help to click on a cell to give the worksheet focus. I've tried various Advanced options that people recommend, to no avail: Allow editing directly in cell Zoom on roll with IntelliMouse What the heck, has Microsoft disabled this most useful functionality?

  • Kill xserver from command line (init 3/5 does not work)

    I'm running Linux Mint 10, although I've had this same issue with other variants of Linux. I've been told/found while researching that if the X server hangs or otherwise errors, one can drop to a root prompt, usually at another tty, and execute init 3 (to drop to single user mode) and then init 5 to return to the default, graphical session. Needless to say, I've tried this before in multiple configurations on multiple machines to no avail. The only feedback I receive form executing those two commands is a listing of VMWare services (from a kernel module) that are stopped and then restarted. Note: If I run startx (either before or after init 3), then I am told that the xserver is still running and that I should remove /tmp/.X0-lock. Having tried that, it removes that error message, but claims that the xserver cannot be attached as another instance is running. How do I kill the xserver completely? Can I killall some process name?

  • PHP 5 will not work in Centos 6 for me

    Just created a new install of Centos 6.0 64-bit on a virtual machine and running on Vmware workstation 8, windows host. yum install php service httpd restart And when trying to run a html file from the var\www\html dir which just has <?php phpinfo(); ?> in it or pointing browser to localhost. Nothing comes up. Also opened up httpd.conf and added: AddType application/x-httpd-php .php AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps Tried reinstalling, installing php-common, then php etc. to no avail. Otherwise going for the typical LAMP. installed: php.x86_64 5.3.2-6.el6_0.1 @updates php-cli.x86_64 5.3.2-6.el6_0.1 @updates php-common.x86_64 5.3.2-6.el6_0.1 @updates Yet to update to Centos 6.1 PHP5 is probably comes installed by default with Centos and I maybe stuffed it up by running yum install php?

  • Imagemagick apparently correctly configured, still won't work under IIS 7.5 + PHP 5.3.2

    I have managed to get imagemagick working (tested using the command line example on their website) It also appears that the php extension is correctly installed: I can see it listed in my phpinfo(); list. However, when I try to run the following code: $im = new imagick( 'examples.jpg' ); $im->thumbnailImage( 200, 0); $im->writeImage( 'a_thumbnail.jpg' ); The execution stops at the second line, because it cannot find the thumbnailImage method. What I can think of is that some user doesn't have enough privileges to access/run something else, but I obviously cannot give user access to everything. Another possibility is that the PHP extension I'm using is not the suitable one for the latest imagemagick distribution.
