  I've edited a pps file which was made with the 2003 version and saved also as compatible with Power Point 97-2003 but a friend a mine can't see the last version of the file. The original file can be seen by my computer friend. What can I do to make the new version of the pps file to be viewable on the computer of my friend? Any tips? Where/what else do I have to check/do ?

  I have to run clamav on large files. I was wondering which command was the fastest between clamscan and clamdscan. But it seems that clamdscan is not working properly: it scans file larger than 1 GB. Could you guys help me find why the heck clamdscan isn't working ? Between clamscan and clamdscan which one is less resource consuming ? I run ClamAV 0.97.8/18037 on Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS. • Problem with two kernels installed and '@fedora' entries in 'yum list'?

  FC11 beta upgraded to FC12. When I do yum list I see listing on the far right column as follows: 'fedora' 'installed' and '@fedora'. Previously I never had '@fedora' and only seemed to appear when I upgraded from FC11-FC12. Also when i look at the kernels installed I have kernel-PAE 2.6.30-0.97.rc.fc12 installed kernel-PAE 2.6.31.5-127.fc12 @fedora Why do I have two entries?

  Hi, I'm trying the Hello MapView Tutorial at the moment. Whe I launch the program in the emulator, I get a huge number of errors (none of the exceptions seems to be related with lines in my code). From home I am unable to access my mail server. and from the office I am unable to access my personal web server. now these two locations are about 100 yards away and share the same connection from the isp. Its payed for on the same account. Also they both have different static public ip addresses. office is 216.248.94.xxx and home is 216.51.158.xxx. I cannot ping each address from each location.

  I want to use a dictionary (basically a text file, and no code) that is included with an open office spell checking plug-in. The plug-in is under the tri-license GPL/LGPL/MPL which I don't understand. is that legal? If it is illegal, what if I wrote a script that uses the said open office plug-in to generate the dictionary (assuming it's technically possible, the script will generate all possible letter permutations, passes it to the plug-in and saves the correct ones) ? I will be using the dictionary in a closed source commercial application. The dictionary is in a language that has very little resources online, and short of making my own dictionary, there aren't any alternatives. Clarification: The script idea I mentioned above, isn't a weird technique, I would generate a document with all possible words and use open office with the plug-in installed to show spelling mistakes and remove them, isn't this the intended use of the plug-in (spell checking)?

  I am running ubuntu 12.04 on my samsung laptop but the wifi connection keeps dropping every minute. I have another dell laptop which also has ubuntu 12.04 but wifi works fine on that. And if I use my samsung laptop at office as its my office laptop wifi works fine. So, I don't understand what the problem is. I have googled it and found solution like set ignoring IPv6 setting but that still does not make any difference. So I don't understand where the problem is if its with my network provider or its with my laptop. I can't blame my network provider as wifi works fine on my other devices including Ipad, mobiles and dell laptop. Even I can't say clearly that its problem with my laptop as wifi works fine in my office. Previously I had ubuntu 13.04 on my samsung laptop and I was having the same issue so I uninstall it and install 12.04 and issues is still the same.

  I'm trying to interpolate coordinates in my fragment shader. Unfortunately if close to the upper edge the interpolated value of fVertexInteger seems to be rounded up instead of beeing floored. This happens above approximately fVertexInteger >= x.97. Example: floor(64.7) returns 64.0 -- correct floor(64.98) returns 65.0 -- incorrect The same happens on ceiling close above x.0, where ceil(65.02) returns 65.0 instead of 66.0. Q: Any ideas how to solve this? • Unable to transfer data to or from mounted hard drive

  So usually i'm good at sorting out issues. But this one has me at a loss! This issues has occured since upgrading my ubuntu so this was workingg prior. I use mounted hard drives to manage my downloads which are then copied over accordingly by a python based app. I found it was having issues with permissions to create anything on these mounted hard drives. I'm able to play and access he content of these drives so they're not faulty. My mount script looks like the following rw,user,exec,auto I really am stuck. Could anyone shed any light on how to fix this and allow me to access it. • A Rose by Any Other Name..

  It is always a good start when you can steal a title line from one of the best writers in the English language.  Let’s hope I can make the rest of this post live up to the opening.  One recurring problem with SQL server is moving databases to new servers.  Client applications use a variety of ways to resolve SQL Server names, some of which are not changed easily <cough SharePoint /cough>.  If you happen to be using default instances on both the source and target SQL Server, then the solution is pretty simple.  You create (or bug the network admin until she creates) two DNS “A” records. One points the old name to the new IP address.  The other creates a new alias for the old server, since the original system name is now redirected.  Note this will redirect ALL traffic from the old server to the new server, including RDP and file share connection attempts.    Figure 1 – Microsoft DNS MMC Snap-In   Figure 2 – DNS New Host Dialog Box Both records are necessary so you can still access the old server via an alternate name. Server Role IP Address Name Alias Source 10.97.230.60 SQL01 SQL01_Old Target 10.97.230.80 SQL02 SQL01 Table 1 – Alias List If you or somebody set up connections via IP address, you deserve to have to go to each app and fix it by hand.  That is the only way to fix that particular foul-up. If have to deal with Named Instances either as a source or a target, then it gets more complicated.  The standard fix is to use the SQL Server Configuration Manager (or one of its earlier incarnations) to create a SQL client alias to redirect the connection.  This can be a pain installing and configuring the app on multiple client servers.  The good news is that SQL Server Configuration Manager AND all of its earlier versions simply write a few registry keys.  Extracting the keys into a .reg file makes centralized automated deployment a snap. If the client is a 32-bit system, you have to extract the native key.  If it is a 64-bit, you have to extract the native key and the WoW (32 bit on 64 bit host) key. First, pick a development system to create the actual registry key.  If you do this repeatedly, you can simply edit an existing registry file.  Create the entry using the SQL Configuration Manager.  You must use a 64-bit system to create the WoW key.  The following example redirects from a named instance “SQL01\SQLUtiluty” to a default instance on “SQL02”.   Figure 3 – SQL Server Configuration Manager - Native Figure 3 shows the native key listing. Figure 4 – SQL Server Configuration Manager – WoW If you think you don’t need the WoW key because your app is 64 it, think again.  SQL Server Management Server is a 32-bit app, as are most SQL test utilities.  Always create both keys for 64-bit target systems. Now that the keys exist, we can extract them into a .reg file. Fire up REGEDIT and browse to the following location:  HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\ConnectTo.  You can also search the registry for the string value of one of the server names (old or new). Right click on the “ConnectTo” label and choose “Export”.  Save with an appropriate name and location.  The resulting file should look something like this: Figure 5 – SQL01_Alias.reg Repeat the process with the location: HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\ConnectTo Note that if you have multiple alias entries, ALL of the entries will be exported.  In that case, you can edit the file and remove the extra aliases. You can edit the files together into a single file.  Just leave a blank line between new keys like this: Figure 6 – SQL01_Alias_All.reg Of course if you have an automatic way to deploy, it makes sense to have an automatic way to Un-deploy.  To delete a registry key, simply edit the .reg file and replace the target with a “-“ sign like so. Figure 7 – SQL01_Alias_UNDO.reg Now we have the ability to move any database to any server without having to install or change any applications on any client server.  The whole process should be transparent to the applications, which makes planning and coordinating database moves a far simpler task.

• Why is my partition claiming to be out of space?

  My file system claims to only have 4.5 GB left. While my OS (a folder with in file system) still has 75.2 GB left. I put something near 130 GB on my Ubuntu partition, it should have enough space. I confirmed that I can put things in OS that exceed the space in available file systems, but that makes no sense, OS is listed as a folder inside of file system, why would it have more space than it's parent folder? What is going on? • How to setup up A record for GitHub pages for NearlyFreeSpeech.net

  I own the domain zenstealth.com and I have decided that the easiest way for me to "do" a blog is via GitHub pages and Jekyll, which is already built-in in GitHub pages. I've done that already, and for now I've already setup a CNAME record so that my GitHub pages repo zenstealth.github.com redirects to blog.zenstealth.com. What I want to do is instead of using a sub-domain for the blog, I'd like to make it use the top level domain zenstealth.com. The GitHub Pages instructions say to the set an A record to the ip 207.97.227.245. The problem in NearlyFreeSpeech.NET (let's call it NFSN for short) is that it already already sets A records to files which are hosted directly in NFSN, and I have absolutely no idea on how to override this.
