  • How can I set PivotField.Calculation in Excel/VSTO?

    - by Kang Su
I'm trying to set the Calculation property on an OLAP PivotField with VSTO 3.0. For example: pivotField.Calculation = XlPivotFieldCalculation.PercentOf; If I do the above, the value I assign does not stay (Excel appears to revert the change). I suspect the reason is that the BaseField property of the PivotField also needs to be populated (as PercentOf needs a BaseField). But it appears to me that you can't set the BaseField property until you've set the Calculation property (otherwise you get a COMException). I've tried to set ManualUpdate on the PivotTable to true, but with VSTO this rarely works, as this gets reverted immediately back to false. Note, that this seems to work fine in VBA as you can assign multiple values in a single statement, like this: With ActiveSheet.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("[Measures].[Reseller Sales Amount]") .Calculation = xlPercentOf .BaseField = "[Geography].[Geography].[Country]" .BaseItem = "[Geography].[Geography].[Country].&[France]" .NumberFormat = "0.00%" End With But with C#/VSTO there's no construct like this (that I know of) and I'm stuck not able to do something like the above. Further note, Calculation values that don't require a BaseField, e.g., XlPivotFieldCalculation.xlPercentOfTotal, get set just fine. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

  • C#: Getting the number of rows/columns with ExcelPackage

    - by Napoli
I need to read and write data from an Excel spreadsheet. Is there a method to finding out how many rows/columns a certain worksheet has using ExcelPackage? I have the following code: FileInfo newFile = new FileInfo(@"C:\example.xlsx"); using (ExcelPackage xlPackage = new ExcelPackage(newFile)) { ExcelWorksheet worksheet = xlPackage.Workbook.Worksheets[1]; } I need to iterate through each cell this worksheet has and spit it into a fairly big table, but I don't want to print out blank cells or get an exception. Is there a method resembling worksheet.rowNum or colNum?

  • Creating an equation in a word 2003 document using a marco (or through the API)

    - by Sambatyon
I think the title is fully descriptive. Anyway, I need to generate a word document from my delphi application. It needs to choose from one of four different equations (with some specific parameters for each document). So far I have manage to create the whole document programmatically except the equation. Is it possible to create equations programmatically? if so, where is de API documentation from MS? if not, which solution can be used?

  • Access / Excel crossover: Should i attach spreadsheets to records

    - by glinch
Hi, I currently have an archaic system of client records that I am trying to improve. For each client i have a directory, in that directory i include a directory for each job. Each job has a spreadsheet that i use to store their personal details, and run calculations and costings specific to their needs. In turn I also have word documents that are linked to their spreadsheet which automatically update accordingly. The spreadsheet is also exported as a pdf as well I am trying to build a database of customer records in Access, straight forward enough. For each new customer i need to be able to add the appropriate spreadsheet to their records, update the spreadsheet accordingly with their details, use the spreadsheet to calculate their costings etc.. I do not want to enter the same information repeatedly, and would like a cohesive system, with data being passed between access and excel. Should this be easy enough to do with the two packages? Thanks in advance Noel

  • Problem with format a single excel column with OLE automation using Delphi

    - by Snackmoore
Dear All, I have piece of code which I use to format a range of cells in Excel. It works fine in Excel 2007 but when the range is only 1 column wide and it is Excel 2003 instead of 2007, I'll get an error saying the I am assigning invalid value for a border's line style. ** valuables such as "xlInsideHorizontal", I have declared them as CONSTANT with the proper values. Please help. procedure formatCells(FRCELLROW, FRCELLCOL, TOCELLROW, TOCELLCOL: Integer; TOPSTYLE, TOPCOLOUR, TOPWEIGHT, BOTTOMSTYLE, BOTTOMCOLOUR, BOTTOMWEIGHT, LEFTSTYLE, LEFTCOLOUR, LEFTWEIGHT, RIGHTSTYLE, RIGHTCOLOUR, RIGHTWEIGHT: Integer; INNERVSTYLE, INNERVCOLOUR, INNERVWEIGHT: Integer; INNERHSTYLE, INNERHCOLOUR, INNERHWEIGHT: Integer; HORIZONTALCELLALIGNMENT: Integer; FontBold: Boolean; NumberFormat: String ); var tmpRange: Variant; begin tmpRange := eclApp.range[eclApp.Cells[FRCELLROW, FRCELLCOL], eclApp.Cells[TOCELLROW, TOCELLCOL]]; tmpRange.Borders[xlEdgeTop].LineStyle := TOPSTYLE; if TOPSTYLE <> xlNone then begin tmpRange.Borders[xlEdgeTop].ColorIndex := TOPCOLOUR; tmpRange.Borders[xlEdgeTop].Weight := TOPWEIGHT; end; //if tmpRange.Borders[xlEdgeBottom].LineStyle := BOTTOMSTYLE; if BOTTOMSTYLE <> xlNone then begin tmpRange.Borders[xlEdgeBottom].ColorIndex := BOTTOMCOLOUR; tmpRange.Borders[xlEdgeBottom].Weight := BOTTOMWEIGHT; end; //if tmpRange.Borders[xlEdgeLeft].LineStyle := LEFTSTYLE; if LEFTSTYLE <> xlNone then begin tmpRange.Borders[xlEdgeLeft].ColorIndex := LEFTCOLOUR; tmpRange.Borders[xlEdgeLeft].Weight := LEFTWEIGHT; end; //if tmpRange.Borders[xlEdgeRight].LineStyle := RIGHTSTYLE; if RIGHTSTYLE <> xlNone then begin tmpRange.Borders[xlEdgeRight].ColorIndex := RIGHTCOLOUR; tmpRange.Borders[xlEdgeRight].Weight := RIGHTWEIGHT; end; //if tmpRange.Borders[xlInsideVertical].LineStyle := INNERVSTYLE; if INNERVSTYLE <> xlNone then begin tmpRange.Borders[xlInsideVertical].ColorIndex := INNERVCOLOUR; tmpRange.Borders[xlInsideVertical].Weight := INNERVWEIGHT; end; //if tmpRange.Borders[xlInsideHorizontal].LineStyle := INNERHSTYLE; if INNERHSTYLE <> xlNone then begin tmpRange.Borders[xlInsideHorizontal].ColorIndex := INNERHCOLOUR; tmpRange.Borders[xlInsideHorizontal].Weight := INNERHWEIGHT; end; //if tmpRange.HorizontalAlignment := HORIZONTALCELLALIGNMENT; tmpRange.Font.Bold := FontBold; tmpRange.NumberFormat := NumberFormat; end; //

  • Microsft Jet oledb connection to excel loses formulae

    - by Saubhagya
I have a dataset and I write it's values to an excel file using Microsoft Jet 4.0 Oledb provider. I want to put hyperlinks into the excel, for this I write "=HYPERLINK("http://www.abc.org/x.pdf")" in DS and then write it to excel. But when the excel is opened it prefixes a ' (quote/apostrophe) before the formula and there it comes as a text, not link. Can you help me removing that quote so that my excel file has hyperlinks instead of that as text? I need to use Microsoft Jet 4.0 provider (not excel component) as the client machine may or may not have MS-Excel installed on his machine.

  • Word 2007 Question

    - by Lijo
Hi Team, While preparing a Word 2007 document, I made a mistake. (Not to say I don't have any other copy of the document) While formatting (as a try) I applied the style "Apply Style to Body to match selection". This caused the document to go totally in a wronfg format - having numbers even in tables. Have you ever faced this? Could you please tell how to correct it? Hope you would be kind enough to answer this even though it is not striclty technical. Thanks Lijo

  • Add a custom Ribbon group to an existing custom Ribbon group in word 2007

    - by SwiftLion
Hi How can I add a new group to an existing (3rd party) custom ribbon tab add-in? I know that I can add to out of box ribbons by specifying the Tabs idMSo value but how do I do that for a custom ribbon tab. I have already tried the ID value of the custom ribbon, but it juts duplicates the ribbon? have also tried idMso and idQ attributes passing in the required custom tab Id but no success. I can add it to out of box tab group by specifying the idMso value but not to custom tab regards

  • Visual Studio Extensions

    - by John Maloney
I have a project that generates text (representing an interface and a class) based on metadata. I would like to take this generated code and insert it as a new class and interface directly into the currently opened solution under a specific project and directory. I will create the menu tool that will generate the class but what I don't know how to do is gain access to the following items from within my custom Visual Studio Extension: Iterate the current solution and find a project to dump the generated code into. Open a new file window within Visual Studio and inject the generated text that comes from my tool directly into that window. Create a new folder in a specific project within the current solution from within my custom extension. EDIT - To clarify I need to open a new file (e.g. Right Click on a Project - Add - New Class) and insert text into it from within my custom Visual Studio Extension. Thanks

  • Skype a-like PlugIn

    - by balexandre
This is not really a programming question but please bear with me as I just need some push to the right road. What is and what should I search for to create a Skype A-Like plugin? I want to be able to capture the Phone Number (Web Browser, Word and Outlook for starts) and change it to present a link that the user can click to search that Phone Number in the CRM Application, given him the ability to open that client profile or make a call (we have a PBX Dial software). But I have no idea what this technology is called in order to start looking for some ideas on how to accomplish this. Thank you

  • How to hide Thinking at Work so that the Non-Programmers don't suspect Slacking?

    - by stesch
Better programmers than me can write in essays about walking around with a coffee mug and call it programming. And it's perfectly accepted at a place that knows the business. Or see what Gregory House (TV show "House M.D.") does when he is thinking. But what about the other places where you are the only programmer? If you don't stare at boring stuff on the monitor for 8 hours straight, co-workers suspect you being a slacker. Yes, not the managers who see the output. Only the co-workers who see the process and can't relate to this kind of work. Yesterday I had to explain to a trainee of some other profession that software development is like flying. The explanation from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I don't think she bought it.

  • Open XML SDK to edit Active document

    - by rak3sh
Hello, Is it possible to use the Open XML sdk to manipulate parts of document which is currently open in the ofice app (word/ppt). I know the easiest thing is to use VSTO, but its slow and would involve clipboard use to insert elements, the OXML sdk is direct and simpler. If somebody could post some code sample that would be great. Thanks in advance Rakesh

  • How can I find "People's Contacts" folders via Outlook's object model?

    - by Dennis Palmer
I have some code that locates all the contact folders that a user has access to by iterating through the Application.Session.Stores collection. This works for the user's contacts and also all the public contacts folders. It also finds all the contacts folders in additional mailbox accounts that the user has added via the Tools - Account Settings... menu command. However, this requires the user to have full access to the other person's account. When a user only has access to another person's contacts, then that person's contacts show up under the "People's Contacts" group in the Contacts view. How do I find those contact folders that don't show up under Session.Stores? In order to see the other user's contacts folder without adding access to their full mailbox, click File - Open - Other User's Folder... from the Outlook menu. In the dialog box, enter the other user's name and select Contacts from the Folder type drop down list. Here's the code (minus the error checking and logging) I'm using to find a list of all the user's Outlook contact folders. I know this can (and maybe should) be done using early binding to the Outlook.Application type, but that doesn't affect the results. EnumerateFolders is recursive so that it searches all sub folders. Dim folderList = New Dictionary(Of String, String) Dim outlookApp = CreateObject(Class:="Outlook.Application") For Each store As Object In outlookApp.Session.Stores EnumerateFolders(folderList, store.GetRootFolder) Next Private Sub EnumerateFolders(ByRef folderList As Dictionary(Of String, String), ByVal folder As Object) Try If folder.DefaultItemType = 2 Then folderList.Add(folder.EntryID, folder.FolderPath.Substring(2)) End If For Each subFolder As Object In folder.Folders EnumerateFolders(folderList, subFolder) Next Catch ex As Exception End Try End Sub

  • Programmatically access document properties

    - by ngm
Is there a way in which I can programmatically access the document properties of a Word 2007 document? I am open to using any language for this, but ideally it might be via a PowerShell script. My overall aim is to traverse the documents somewhere on a filesystem, parse some document properties from these documents, and then collate all of these properties back together into a new Word document. (I essentially want to automatically create a document which is a list of all documents beneath a certain folder of the filesystem; and this list would contain such things as the Title, Abstract and Author document properties; the CreateDate field; etc. for each document)
