• What online brokers offer APIs?

  So I'm getting really sick of E*TRADE and, being a developer, would love to find an online broker that offers an API. It would be great to be able to write my own trading tools, and maybe even modify existing ones. Based on my research so far, I've only found one option. Interactive Brokers offers a multi-language API (Java/C++/ActiveX/DDE) and has some fairly decent commission rates to boot. I want to make sure there aren't any other options out there I should be considering. Any ideas? Update: Based on answers so far, here's a quick list...   I have a application generating logs in every 5 sec. The logs are in below format. 11:13:49.250,interface,0,RX,0 11:13:49.250,interface,0,TX,0 11:13:49.250,interface,1,close,0 11:13:49.250,interface,4,error,593 11:13:49.250,interface,4,idle,2994215 and so on for other interfaces... I am working to convert these into below CSV format Time,interface.RX,interface.TX,interface.close.... 11:13:49,0,0,0,.... Simple as of now but the problem is, I have to get the data in csv format online, i.e as soon the log file updated the CSV should also be updated. Is there any way to do this using perl.

• Online Advetisement/Banner Management System

  I am developing site for online advertisements where sellers and buyers can come and sell/buy advertisements. Just need to develop detailed statistics like click counts, from which page clicks are coming (one advertisement can be placed on many pages), from which position (top, right, left ...) click are coming (one advertisement can be placed in different position on single page) etc. I seen that most of the advertisement on popular websites has following format: http://ads.stackoverflow.com/a.aspx?Task=Click&ZoneID=3&CampaignID=838&AdvertiserID=50&BannerID=1335&SiteID=1&RandomNumber=1463177307&Keywords=c%23%2c.net%2ccollections%2cdictionary%2chashtable It has many parameters like ZoneID, CampaignID, AdvertiserID, BannerID, SiteID, RandomNumber, adid, adcrid, obid, obtid and way. I can use one advertisement (adid) in multiple pages. But can't figure out the way to distinguish between from which pages clicks are coming. How can I use such parameters to generate statistics which tell me the page from which clicks are coming?

  Greetings, can someone give me some advices or links that will help me to implement to following scenario. Page will be written in asp.net mvc. Authorization is going to be implemented by Memberships. The scenario is as follows: User1 has just logged in. After a while, User2 attempts to login with success. Then user1 should be notified that User2 has just logged in. Additionally User2 should be notified that User1 is online. How can I achieve something like that? Do i have to index all my music files into database, or i can randomily pick file from file system and play it. 2. When should i use ajax to load new song(right after last finished, or few seconds before to get responce from server with link to file?) 3. • Free service that allows storing game data online?

  I have created a small game in Java and I would like to add the ability for a player to publish his highscores online. I'm willing to write the server software myself (it's easy these days with Ruby Mongrel, or even C++). All I just need to have some sort hosting. One solution that immediately comes to mind is Amazon EC2. But that's kind of expensive for my needs. Since the requirements are very minimal (I don't even need a website, just a web service) I think there may be a cheaper solution out there. Does anyone know of a free or cheap provider for this kind of thing?

  hi, I develop a web application it is working fine in local. When i upload the site in online through CuteFTP it is showing the error like this... Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off". Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL. please help me i place the but even though it is not working it is giving same error.   I need to open, read and insert items into an online SQLite database from an Android app. I know url, username and password. In JavaSE i would do the following: Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"); Connection dbConnection = DriverManager.getConnection(URL, USER, PASSWORD); I read that I can't do this in Android because there is not a JDBC Driver (there is a "SQLite.JDBCDriver" but it is not documented and not recommended). So which is the easiest way? I asked to Google but it looks like he either doesn't know.

• Implementing an Online Waiting Room

  My organization is building a new version of our ticketing site and is looking for the best way to build an online waiting room when the number of users in our purchase path exceeds a certain limit. The best version of this queue would let new users in after existing users have either completed their purchase or have exceeded a timeout limit after entering the path. I'm trying to get an idea of how this has been implemented by other organizations. Has anyone out there done something similar or have any experience with this? We have some ideas, but I'd like to get a sense of what solutions have been tried and what problems those solutions have run up against. Just to be complete, this site is being built in Ruby on Rails, though I'd love to hear about how people have solved this regardless of platform.

• Calculating number of online visitors?

  i need to show the number of online visitors, but there is a problem with selecting algoritm to do it! maybe i must create a table in DB, where i'll store ip addresses of visitors and time of visit! by so i can show the count of ip addresses, which's time = NOW() - 10 minutes, for example...("now()-10 minutes" is just to show the logic, i know that this is not a function:) is this goog way to go? or maybe it's better to use AJAX methods to store the data? please give me an idea.   Hi, Can anyone please explain to my why the form in the code below gets out of focus when selecting a treenode in the tree? What should happen is that the form/button should get the focus when the tree disappears like the listview example but it doesn't.   How do I create reusable custom new item form + preferrably, i don't want to tie this form to content type? I want to force render one hidden field (it could be render on the page, but make invisible or render on the page and display) and set field value programmatically (that's why it has to be rendered - to set it's value). Google has tons of information on how to create custom list form with sharepoint designer, but in my case, i don't want sharepoint designer for the advantages you see below. What i'm trying to achieve I want to be able to have a custom newform to create item (i don't want it to be as default). To open this newForm i would use CustomAction in item's ECB menu. In this form, i want to force render one hidden field and set it's value programmatically. Advantages I get the advantage of Idea 1 + This way i would get a bonus even if Template changes (from ListForm to CompanyCustomListForm) and my custom form won't loose my implemented functionality if i choose to change content type's rendering template later on (i can create other features not trying to rembeer to reimplement this particular stuff or other 3rd party features won't override my functionality if they use custom forms - loose coupling is it?). Now, is this (Idea #2) possible...?

• Windows services with windows forms in the same process

  Hello, I have a c# application that runs as a windows service controlling socket connections and other things. Also, there is another windows forms application to control and configure this service (systray with start, stop, show form with configuration parameters). I'm using .net remoting to do the IPC and that was fine, but now I want to show some real traffic and other reports and remoting will not meet my performance requirements. So I want to combine both applications in one. Here is the problem: When I started the form from the windows service, nothing happened. Googling around I've found that I have to right click the service, go to Log on and check the "Allow service to interact with desktop" option. Since I don't want to ask my users to do that, I got some code googling again to set this option in the user's regedit during installation time. The problem is that even setting this option, it doesn't work. I have to open the Log On options of the service (it is checked), uncheck and check again. So, how to solve that? How is the best way to have a windows service with a systray control in the same process, available to any user logging in? UPDATE: Thanks for the comments so far, guys. I agree it is better to use IPC and I know that it is bad to mix windows services and user interfaces. Even though, I want to know how to do that.

• Blueprint CSS and Separation of Presentation and Content When Designing Forms

  Is it possible to use Blueprint CSS and maintain a a respectable level of separation between presentation and content? I like how easy the framework is to use when designing forms, but am worried that the manner in which I use the css classes for columnizing elements is a bad practice. • COMException in System.WIndows.Forms.dll with Interactive Brokers TWS API

  Hi, I've been trying to run the sample project provided with the tutorial at stockbotprogramming http://www.stockbotprogramming.com/sharpcibtutorial1.php , but I keep getting a COMException every time I run the application. • Using embedded standard HTML forms with ASP.NET

  I have a standard aspx page with which I need to add another standard HTML form into and have it submit to another location (external site), however whenever I press the submit button the page seems to do a post back rather than using the sub-forms action url. A mock up of what the form relationships is below. • please clarify some aspects of AJAX with ASP.NET web forms for a beginner

  Im familiar with asp.net web forms. I would now like to move on to writing web applications that use AJAX. I would like to get to the stage where I can create an app: that has "edit in place" (no page reload) where i can reorder images using drag and drop (also saves the order to DB) that has google like search suggestions while typing on the fly 1)So do I need to learn how to use AJAX.net and Jquery(my JS library of choice)? Can I make do using only AJAX.net or only Jquery? 2)As far a I know, Jquery will allow me to perform client side manipulations/actions and AJAX.net is the part that will allow me to connect some of my actions to the Server. EG. if I wanted to re-order elements using drag and drop, I would use Jquery, but in order to save the result of the re-order to the DB I would have to use AJAX.net correct? 2a)So In order to learn how to do the above Im thinking I should first learn Jquery so I know how to manipulate/ select elements, and then I can lean how to save these changes to the DB. 3)I searched the books titled "ASP.net AJAX in action" and ASP.net 3.5 AJAX, both of these books did not contain any references to "Jquery". Is this because they may be using a different JS library, or perhaps the book focuses on the AJAX user controls? I just found it confusing that 2 popular AJAX books dont make any reference to Jquery. • Using URL Routing for Web Forms and StopRoutingHandler for Favicon

  I have a website where I need to add a Favicon.ico. The site is written using ASP.NET 3.5 Web Forms with Routing. The issue is that the Favicon link always returns a page not found error. This is because the Routing does not know where the link for Favicon.ico should go to so it returns the Not Found page. I have tried to add a StopRoutingHandler for the the favicon but none of them seem to work. Below are the ones I have tried so far: routes.Add(new Route("MasterPages/{favicon}.ico", new StopRoutingHandler()));; routes.Add(new Route("{favicon}.ico", new StopRoutingHandler())); routes.Add(new Route("favicon.ico", new StopRoutingHandler())); routes.Add(new Route("favicon.ico/{*pathInfo}", new StopRoutingHandler())); Does anyone know what I should be using? My favicon.ico links I have tried look like this: <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /> <link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /> And they are inside of my tags.

• struts2 trim all string obtained from forms

  Hi All, I develop web application using struts2. I want to improve getting string from forms. For this need trim all string and if obtained string is empty then set null to field. For this, I created StringConverter. public class StringConverter extends StrutsTypeConverter { @Override public Object convertFromString(Map context, String[] strings, Class toClass) { if (strings == null || strings.length == 0) { return null; } String result = strings[0]; if (result == null) { return null; } result = result.trim(); if (result.isEmpty()) { return null; } return result; } @Override public String convertToString(Map context, Object object) { if (object != null && object instanceof String) { return object.toString(); } return null; } } Next, I added row to xwork-conversion.properties java.lang.String=com.mypackage.StringConverter Thats all. But I did not get the desired result. convertToString() method is called when jsp build form, but convertFromString() doesn't invoke. What I do wrong? How can I get the same behaviour using another way? Please, not offer solutions such as: remove the value of such form elements using javascript. create util method which will make it using reflection. Then call it for each form bean. • TFS and Forms Authentication

  I don't know squat about TFS, other than as a user who has performed simple check in/outs. I just installed it locally and would like to do joint development with a friend. I was having trouble making my TFS web site on port 8080 visible (the whole scoop is here if your interested) and I wonder if it could be related to the fact that TFS is probably using Windows Authentication to identify the user. Can TFS be set up to use forms authentication? We probably need to set up a VPN, though that's a learning curve too. To use TFS, do our machines have to belong to a domain? We're not admin types, though he is better than me, though I would be interested in any feedback or advice on which path is likely to pan out the best. I already got AxoSoft OneTime working in this type of an environment and it suits us well, but I am tempted at all the bells & whistles with TFS and the ability to tie tracked bug items to code changes. As far as finding a good way to share code, do sites like SourceForge allow one to keep code secure among members only?
