    I'm trying to use Reactive Extensions from Boo and am running into type problems. Here's the basic example: def OnSubscribe(observer as IObservable[of string]) as callable: print "subscribing" def Dispose(): print "disposing" return Dispose observable = System.Linq.Observable.Create[of string](OnSubscribe) observer = System.Linq.Observer.Create[of string]({x as string | print x}) observable.Subscribe(observer) The Subscribe here gives a System.InvalidCastException: Cannot cast from source type to destination type. The issue appears to be with how I'm creating the observable, but I've struggled to see where the type problem arises from. Ideas?

Additionally, the user could have specified their font preference in my application, which i want the Ribbon hosted in my application to honor.

    I would like to get started with PHP, and 5.3 release seems to bring many nice features (namespaces, lambda functions, and many others). I have found some MVC frameworks, and some of them support only PHP 5: PHP Frameworks PHP MVC Frameworks Model–view–controller on Wikipedia but can anyone recommend one of those MVC frameworks that plans to actively use PHP 5.3 features, not just being compatible with PHP 5.3?     When use entity framework for DAL tier, VS 2010 can create edmx for each database. Question: If I have a database with many tables, should I create only one edmx for all tables or mutiple edmx files? for example, maybe all security tables for one edmx file, other tables for another edmx file. If there is more than one, then in other tiers, there will have more then on ObjectContext in code for business logic. Which one it the best solution for this case?

  • How to load view-Templates from default when not available in module? Zend Framework

    Hi my problem with Zend Framework... unfortunately not solved after 3 hours of searching: I have a modular Zend Application, which is working fine if i have my module and error templates in the called module. If i delete error/error.phtml out of views/scripts/ a Fatal Error is showing up that there is no directory. To cut a long story short: How can i define that Zend falls back to default module in this situation? Many thanks in advance.

    Entity Framework currently supports table valued functions and custom functions defined in the SSDL, but I can't find any example of it being used as a criteria, in the where clause. Example: var query = this.db.People; query = query.Where(p = FullText.ContainsInName(p.Id, "George")); In this example, ContainsInName is my custom function that I want to be executed in the where clause of the query. Is it supported?

  • .NET Framework - When to Upgrade?

    I’m faced with a challenge of leading two (currently) separate .NET development groups with different development strategies. One group is developing on the .NET Framework 2.0 (with maybe a few applications on 3.5). The other group immediately adopts any new framework that comes out, and begins coding any new applications with it (they are running 2.0-4.0 applications). For this last group, applications written in an earlier version than the latest framework do not get upgraded. What is the current school of thought when it comes to a company developing web applications on when to adopt a new framework, and whether to migrate applications built on previous versions to the latest framework or not? Years ago the thought was to wait until the technology became mainstream - but that doesn't seem to apply much now with .NET.

  • Entity framework: Need a easy going, clean database migration solution.

    I'm using entity framework model first development, and I need to do database migration often, The EF database generation power pack doesn't help a lot, because that data migration never worked here. The database migration here I mean, change the model, and then I can update the existing database from the model, but creating a new one. Is there any free of charge tool here invented here yet? Or would this going to be a new feature of next EF release? PS: I love django's ORM.
