• Issue in parsing the GridViewRows in a Telerik RadGridView

  Hi, I would like to do something similar what we do in ASP.NET where we parse through all the rows in a GridView and assign a particular value to a particular cell in a row which has a matching TaskId as the current Id. This has to happen in a Tick function of a Dispatcher Timer object. Since I have a Start Timer button Column for every row in a GridView. Upon a particular row's Start Timer Button click, I have to start its timer and display in a cell in that row. Similarly there can be multiple timers running in parallel. For this I need to be able to check the task Id of the particular task and keep updating the cell values with the updated time in all of the tasks that have a Timer Started. • To what degree should I use Marshal.ReleaseComObject with Excel Interop objects?

  I've seen several examples where Marshal.ReleaseComObject() is used with Excel Interop objects (i.e., objects from namespace Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel), but I've seen it used to various degrees. • Strange XCode debugger behavior with UITableView datasource

  Hey guys. I've got a perplexing issue. In my subclassed UITableViewController my datasource methods lose their tableview reference depending on lines of code I put inside the method. For example, in this code block: - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { // Return the number of sections. return 3; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { // Return the number of rows in the section. return 5; } // Customize the appearance of table view cells. - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { id i = tableView; static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } // Configure the cell... return cell; } the "id i = tableView;" causes the tableview to become nil (0x0) -- and it causes it to be nil before I ever start stepping into the method. If I insert an assignment statement above the "id i = tableview;" statement: CGFloat x = 5.0; id i = tableView; then tableview retains its pointer (i.e. is not nil) if I place the breakpoint after the "id i = tableView;" line. In other words, the breakpoint must be set after the "id i = tableView"; assignment in order for tableView to retain its pointer. If the breakpoint is set before the assignment is made and I just hang at that breakpoint for a bit then after a couple of seconds the console logs this error message: Assertion failed: (cls), function getName, file /SourceCache/objc4_Sim/objc4-427.5/runtime/objc-runtime-new.mm, line 3990. Although the code works when I don't step through the method, I need my debugger to work! It makes programming kind of challenging when your debugging tools become your enemy. Anyone know what the cause and solution are? Thanks.

• Cannot edit values of DataGridView bound to a BindingList

  Hello community, I have trouble editing a databound bindinglist. Let me illustrate it with the following: Say I have the Person class: public Class Person{ private string m_firstname; private string m_lastname; public string FirstName{get;set;} public string LastName{get;set;} public Person{ ... } } I then have a containing class called Population: public class Population{ private BindingList<Person> m_lstPerson = new BindingList<Person>(); private string m_countryName; public BindingList<Person> ListPerson{get; set;} public string CountryName { get; set; } } I then have on one form a first datagridview with DataSource = m_lstPopulation (BindingList). The binding works like a charm when working with the Population objects. When I double click, it opens up a dialog form showing the object details. One tab in the details holds a datagridview bound to that population's ListPerson. The second datagridview displays fine. However, I cannot edit or add cells in this datagridview. None of the columns is set to read-only. In fact, both datagridview have just about the same parameters. What am I missing? It seems that a lock has been placed on the Population object so that its inner fields cannot be edited... Please advise. Thanks.

  I am using a datagrid which has many combobox fields in it, when I click the datagrid combobox the selected item or highlighted value is the last item in the list, but I would like it to highlight the first(top) item in the list. I know for just a combobox, all I need to do is change the combobox.selecteditem or combobox.selectedindex, but I'm not sure what to do in this case. I have binded the combobox to a table in the database and used a datatable to store the combobox values and then I add a row to the datatable, I think the reason the last item in the combobox is highlighted is because I added a row to the datatable.   I have a number of custom table cells and views that I built using interface builder In interface builder, everything is set up similarly. There is a table cell and a couple other UILabels and a background image Object owner if the nib is NSObject Class for the table cell is the name of the class for my table cell Here is how I create the table cell in my code: SectionedSwitchTableCell *cell = nil; NSArray *nibs = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:kSectionedSwitchTableCellIdentifier owner:owner options:nil]; for(id currentObject in nibs) { if([currentObject isKindOfClass:[SectionedSwitchTableCell class]]) { cell = (SectionedSwitchTableCell *)currentObject; break; } } return cell; For my custom table headers I have this NSArray *nibs = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"CustomTableHeader" owner:self options:nil]; for(id currentObject in nibs) { if([currentObject isKindOfClass:[CustomTableHeader class]]) { return header } } In my .h and .m files for the custom view, I have IBOutlet, @property set up for everything except for the background image UIImageView. Everything that has the IBOutlet and @property are also @synthesized and released in the .m file. Leaks is showing that I have memory leaks with CALayer when I create these custom view objects. Am I doing something wrong here when I create these custom view objects? I'm kind of tearing my hair out trying to figure out where these leaks are coming from. As a side note, I have a UIImageView background image defined in these custom views but I didn't define properties and IBOutlets in my .h and .m files. Defining them doesn't make a difference when I run it through Leaks but just wanted to confirm if I'm doing the right thing. Any input would be super helpful. Thanks :)

  Im stuck in Excel 2007, running a query, it worked until I wanted to add a 2nd row containing "field 2". Select "Site Updates"."Posted By", "Site Uploaded"."Site Upload Date" From site_info.dbo."Site Updates" Where ("Site Updates"."Posted By") AND "Site Uploaded"."Site Upload Date">={ts '2010-05-01 00:00:00'}), ("Site Location"='Chicago') Union all Select "Site Updates"."Posted By", "Site Uploaded"."Site Upload Date" From site_info.dbo."Site Updates" Where ("Site Updates"."Posted By") AND "Site Uploaded"."Site Upload Date">={ts '2010-05-01 00:00:00'}), ("Site Location"='Denver') Order By "Site Location" ASC; Basically I want 2 different cells for the locations, example name - Chicago - denver user1 - 100 - 20 user2 - 34 - 1002 Right now for some odd reason, its combining it like: name - chicago user1 - 120 user2 - 1036 Please note updating to 2010 beta is not a viable option for me at this point. Any and all input that will help me is greatly apprecaited. I have read over http://www.techonthenet.com/sql/order_by.php however its not gotten me very far in this question. If you have another SQL resource you recomend for people trying to get their feet wet, I'd greatly apprecaite it. If it helps all the info is on the same table.

• Update a tableView with a plist took from another table

  Background: I have a tab bar application, which has a tableView as the "heart" of the app. It loads data from a plist and, through a button that checks if there are any updates on the remote plist file, updates the local plist with the remote contents. Then, i have another tableView, that should display only those plist items that have a bool value set to YES. Now i want to add a button to the second table that reloads the plist took from the first table. Expected: When i update the local plist from the first table and when i press the button on the second table, the 2nd table is supposed to update and show the cells with that bool value set to YES. (Note: I set YES as default to some items on plist). What happens: The first table updates its content from remote. The second table shows the old items with the value set to YES. When i press the button to refresh data, it reads the plist fine (by logging it, it has the same contents of the first table -only those set to YES-),but it doesn't update data even if i have [self.tableView reloadData];. • UITableView Inactive Until Scroll iPhone

  HI, I'm trying to find the cause of some annoying behaviour with my UITableView. In each cell of my table (10 of them ) I asynchronously load an image. The problem is, is that if I don't touch the app at all the imageviews will permanently show a loading icon. However as soon as I scroll a cell off the screen and back on again the image shows straight away. What could be causing this "stuck in the mud" behaviour? • What does the Excel VBA range.Rows property really do?

  OK, I am finishing up an add-on project for a legacy Excel-VBA application, and I have once again run up against the conundrum of the mysterious range.Rows(?) and worksheet.Rows properties. Does anyone know what these properties really do and what they are supposed to provide to me? (note: all of this probably applies to the corresponding *.Columns properties also). What I would really like to be able to use it for is to return a range of rows, like this: SET rng = wks.Rows(iStartRow, iEndRow) But I have never been able to get it to do that, even though the Intellisense shows two arguments for it. Instead I have to use one of the two or three other (very kludgy) techniques. The help is very unhelpful (typically so for Office VBA), and googling for "Rows" is not very useful, no matter how many other terms I add to it. The only things that I have been able to use it for are 1) return a single row as a range ( rng.Rows(i) ) and 2) return a count of the rows in a range ( rng.Rows.Count ). Is that it? Is there really nothing else that it's good for? Clarification: I know that it returns a range and that there are other ways to get a range of rows. What I am asking for is specifically what do we get from .Rows() that we do not already get from .Cells() and .Range()? The two things that I know are 1) an easier way to return a range of a single row and 2) a way to count the number of rows in a range. Is there anything else?

This seems to be inline with what MSDN says about passing an array to a Range's Value. I also found this page showing something similar in C#. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong? When reset() is called on the dataSetLoader instance, the DataGrid empties the data in the cells, as expected, but leaves the column names, even though reset() calls _columnNames.removeAll(). Shouldn't the change in the collection trigger a change in the DataGrid?

  I am developing a C# VS2008/SQL Server website application. I've never used the Dictionary class before, but I am trying to replace my Hashtable with a Dictionary variable. Here is a portion of my aspx.cs code: ... Dictionary<string, string> openWith = new Dictionary<string, string>(); for (int col = 0; col < headers.Length; col++) { @temp = (col + 1); @tempS = @temp.ToString(); @tempT = "@col" + @temp.ToString(); ... openWith.Add(@tempT, headers[col]); } ... for (int r = 0; r < myInputFile.Rows.Count; r++) { resultLabel.Text = ADONET_methods.AppendDataCT(myInputFile, openWith); } But this is giving me a compiler error on this last line: Argument '2': cannot convert from 'System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary' to 'string' How do I pass the entire openWith variable to AppendDataCT? AppendDataCT is the method that calls my SQL stored proc. I want to pass in the whole row where each row has a unique set of values that I want to add to my database table. For example, if each row requires values for cells A, B, and C, then I want to pass these 3 values to AppendDataCT, where all of these values are strings. How do I do this with Dictionary?

• Globalize/Localize Excel Reports Using Spreadsheet

  My company has new customers in Brazil and we realized that our excel reports are not working when our Brazilian customers tried to open the reports in their Brazilian versions of excel. For excel output we use spreadsheet gear in our vb.net web application. Our excel worksheets are fairly simple. Mostly outputted text/numbers/dates, a couple of formulas (sum, if) and formatting on the currency and dates. I've tried several methods to get my excel reports to work: First I left the excel workbook in the "en-US" culture and tried simply chaging the number format for Brazil to: _-[$R$-416] * #.##0,00_-;-[$R$-416] * #.##0,00_-;_-[$R$-416] * "-"??_-;_-@_- And this formatted the regular cells but the formulas still failed to show a value. Instead they showed a 0 value. Next I tried changing the workbook to the "pt-BR" culture and that also forced me to translate the formula names (Sum - Soma, If - Se) but they still wouldn't should a value and instead showed a #Name/#Nome error. Interestingly enough the formulas would work if I edited the cell and hit enter. The formula wouldn't change but it would some how fix that cell. I need to be able to out excel reports that can format dates/currencies and apply simple formulas (IF, Sum) for other excel cultures. Anyone have any advice?

I don't want to used jQuery or Javascript to accomplish this. The outputted html is supposed to look like this page: http://rmtequipment.com/golfandturf.aspx I have made an interface that will allow them to add these logos on their own. So this page will be dynamically built. What is the best way to accomplish this goal? If a listview or gridview is a better approach I am open to that as well. Thanks in advance.

• Passing data back from detailViewController to Uitableview

  I am currently at the issue where I have a UITableviewCell that needs to be updated. When the user presses on the uitableviewcell - THERES ONLY 1!!, the user is pushed to a UITABLEVIEWCONTROLLER where the user is allowed to select 1 of multiple cells with their own titles. I need to get the clicked tableviewcells title and pass the value back to the parentviewcontroller and update the 1 tableviewcell's name to the one the user clicked in the pushed uitableivewcontroller. Here is a picture of the parent viewcontroller... And heres the picture of the pushed viewcontroller.... I was told earlier yesterday that delegation would be needed but I am unsure what to do at this point :/. Heres some code I use in the parent viewcontroller... - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { [tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES]; ProblemTypes *view = [[ProblemTypes alloc] init]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:view animated:YES]; } I am also NOT USING storyboards, just a few xibs. • Requested operation requires an OLE DB Session object... - Connecting Excel to SQL server via ADO

  I'm attempting to take Excel 2003 and connect it to SQL Server 2000 to run a few dynamicly generated SQL Queries which ultimately filling certain cells. I'm attempting to do this via VBA via ADO (I've tried 2.8 to 2.0) but I'm getting an error while setting the ActiveConnection variable which is inside the ADODB.Connection object. I need to resolve this pretty quick... Requested operation requires an OLE DB Session object, which is not supported by the current provider. I'm honestly not sure what this error means and right now I don't care. How can get this connection to succeed so that I can run my queries? • [Delphi] How would you refactor this code?

  This hypothetical example illustrates several problems I can't seem to get past, even though I keep trying!! ... Suppose the original code is a long event handler, coded in the UI, triggered when a user clicks a cell in a grid. Expressed as pseudocode it's: if Condition1=true then begin //loop through every cell in row, //if aCell/headerCellValue>1 then //color aCell red end else if Condition2=true then begin //do some other calculation adding cell and headerCell values, and //if some other product>2 then //color the whole row green end else show an error message I look at this and say "Ah, refactor to the strategy pattern! The code will be easier to understand, easier to debug, and easier to later extend!" I get that. And I can easily break the code into multiple procedures. The problem is ultimately scope related. Assume the pseudocode makes extensive use of grid properties, values displayed in cells, maybe even built-in grid methods. How do you move all that to another unit, without referencing the grid component in the UI--which would break all the "rules" about loose coupling that make OOP valuable? ... • How can I tell when something outside my UITableViewCell has been touched?

  Similar to this question I have a custom subclass of UITableViewCell that has a UITextField. Its working fine except the keyboard for doesn't go away when the user touches a different table view cell or something outside the table. I'm trying to figure out the best place to find out when something outside the cell is touched, then I could call resignFirstResponder on the text field. If the UITableViewCell could receive touch events for touches outside of its view then it could just resignFirstResponder itself but I don't see any way to get those events in the cell. The solution I'm considering is to add a touchesBegan:withEvent: method to the view controller. There I could send a resignFirstResponder to all tableview cells that are visible except the one that the touch was in (let it get the touch event and handle it itself). Maybe something like this pseudo code: - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { CGPoint touchPoint = // TBD - may need translate to cell's coordinates for (UITableViewCell* aCell in [theTableView visibleCells]) { if (![aCell pointInside:touchPoint withEvent:event]) { [aCell resignFirstResponder]; } } } I'm not sure if this is the best way to go about this. There doesn't seem to be any way for the tableviewcell itself to receive event notifications for events outside its view.

• How to display out the contents from mysql and path it to an image properly?

  I was trying very hard to think of a solution for my problem but have drain all my brain cells into this...What happen is: I have a CK editor where it allows user to input both text and images. A good example would be http://ckeditor.com/demo. Something like the red riding good example in the demo. I would like to have text surrounding the image like the example. With CK editor, user can now do that. However, now they will submit the changes and i was wondering how should I save the data? What i have found: After reading my articles and solutions on the web, all the experts would advise not to put image into the mysql database together with the text. I would like to ask if this is the case what should I do to extract the text from the ck editor and store it into mysql database and separately store the images into my web server? I know how to retrieve text from mysql database. But how do you put the retrieved text abd images together such as it appears to be how the user have input in CK editor?? Guys I am sorry if my question is confusing you or is making you angry because i admit I am really a newbie in this and I will learn all that I can...Thanks for all your advice and teachings.
