  • Excel Graph: How can I turn data below in to a 'time based' graph

    In my spreadsheet I am collecting time periods when certain values have been changed. The user is restricted to 4 time periods. I would like to show the data based on thos time periods. I've included a mock up' of the data and the type of graph I would like to create.     OS:WinXP Say I got some files in Chinese and some files in Korean. And in windows 'Region and Language Options', I set language for non-unicode program = Chinese. Is there any way that I can read some Korean text file in text editor easily without using Microsoft Word? I need an environment that can support multiple unicode easily, I need to read Chinese, Japanese, Korean in text editor (Ultraeditor, notepad++) and terminal clients like SecureCRT. Please advise, thanks.

  • forced reformat without login / and bootcamp

    ok.. im pretty good with stuff like this, but I have a question. I have mac mini with 10.5.(x) on one partition, and bootcamp (windows) on the other. My boss wants me to reformat the whole mac (10.6 (x)), which is usually easy. He does not remember his password to login, which means I cannot log in and allocate the bootcamp back to one partition using Disk Utility, then reformat the whole drive. When I insert the Snow leopard CD, I can only wipe out one partition, my question is: Is there a way to force a wipe out of both drives in the boot sequence? Any help to wipe out this whole drive and do a clean install would be helpful.. Thanks superusers!

    My Windows 7 Release Candidate is about to expire, so I'm going to do a clean install of a retail version. I have two volumes, on four physical drives, as follows: Disk 0: Spanned Volume (D:) Disk 1: Primary Partition, Boot/Windows Install (C:) Disk 2: Spanned Volume (D:) Disk 3: Spanned Volume (D:) If I install Windows to a formatted drive 1, will it still recognize the spanned volume in Disks 0, 2, and 3? The spanned volume is not redundant in any way, so the volume is 1.5TB consisting of three 500GB disks. I don't have the space to do an external backup, and I thought it was impossible to convert a spanned volume back to a basic volume.

    We use several Word documents as templates and currently include 'guidance' text for the reader - in the form of grey, italic text - to provide guidance to the person completing the document. Note how the grey+italic text is used to provide both guidance and example content Problems with this approach include: People forgetting to delete all of this template/boilerplate text People using the italic+grey formatting when inputting real information because they don't change the style We've considered including Reviewing comments as an alternative but this can be a pain and suffers from the first problem above. I'm not sure a simple, elegant solution exists here but if there's something obvious I'm missing I'd love to hear about it.

  • Colour table cells in Microsoft Word after mail merge

    I have an Excel spreadsheet of student data. For each of 30 topics, students are traffic lighted R, A or G (for red, amber, green) in the spreadsheet. I am mail merging individual result print-outs in Word 2010. However, rather than printing the letter R/A/G next to each topic, I would rather change the background colour of the cell to that colour. How can I do this? Is there an option with merge fields or can it be done with a macro (please provide sample code if so - I don't have experience with macros!)

  • Why doesn't Windows 7 allow me to format?

    Dell support can be fun to deal with right? Ultimately, I have been going back and forth with Dell on an issue and came to reinstalling Windows 7 32-Bit Pro. The problem is that Windows Setup will not let me format. I've read other posts that say Windows 7 must installed on first partition here. But now that confuses me because the computer came shipped with the installation on the third partion as shown in the picture below? Is there a real problem? Or is this a Microsoftism? Should I obliterate the "OEM" partition to make this work? Please note that the format, delete, new, and extend options are grayed out.

  • excel - merge cells including a zip code

    Hi all, I have the need to merge a bunch of cells that comprise an address (street, city, state, zip) into a single cell. No problem except with the zip code. The zip cell has only 4 digits for any zip that starts with 0. So, I change it's format to be Special - Zip Code. That makes the cell itself show the beginning 0, but the merged cell still does not show the leading 0. Does anyone know how to get the leading 0 in the merged column? Thanks Evan

    Hi, Do you know any software or compilations that you recommend to handle drivers and codecs for newly formated computer? I am having problem gathering drivers and codecs when I format my computer or other's computer because we frequently misplace it's original drivers. I need an offline solution that doesn't need internet. Same for as the codec, when formating computer we frequently lost our codecs, are there codec packs you know that you would like to recommend? I'd like to be able to do something like the following but it doesn't work as the newline in the cell forbids the formula from being executed: =CONCATENATE("foo"; "bar") The reason I'm asking is because I have huge formulas an I need to format them (using newlines and a bit of indentation) for readability. thanks

  • Best way to reformat/recover in Windows when your CD key is no longer valid?

    I have a copy of Windows 7 Professional that I have downloaded from the MSDN e-academy (thanks to my school). Now, the problem is that these license keys are one-use only. If I need to reformat or do a factory reset, what is the best way for me to do so, without invalidating my license and screwing me out of an operating system? Edit: I would also like to know some information on the "restore to factory settings" option in Windows 7 recovery center. Does it do exactly as the name implies and starts you off as if you had just done a fresh install? If I had some kind of nasty trojan or virus, would it be able to survive through the factory reset? The recovery center also has an option for reformatting, though I don't think that it's an actual format - it just backs up your stuff into a Windows.old folder or something like that. Does that require a valid license key?

    I had this in Vim and miss it dearly now that I'm confined to Visual Studio. I'd like to take this: MyType type_obj = new MyType(); MyLongerType longer_type_obj = new LongerType() To this: MyType type_obj = new MyType(); LongerType longer_type_obj = new LongerType() I have found some macros for this on the web, but they seem to be for an older version of Visual Studio (< 2008). Here is one from 2000. Edit: Further digging in Google turned up this one: http://www.omegacoder.com/?p=8 It seems to work to align equals signs, but I haven't yet figured out if it can align the local variable names, too. Still no clue as to whether I could just get it to perform this sort of behavior with a Ctrl E+D, although that might not be practical considering how it works. (It aligns going down from the line which currently has focus.)
