  • Where has MS Charting gone in .NET 4.0?

    Forgive me for being a little naive perhaps, but it seems that System.Windows.Controls.DataVisualization.Charting has vanished from VS2010, and blend 4. I'm trying to make a bar graph with a line overlayed, but can't even get started because I can't find the appropriate controls. I know I could use an external graphing package, but I'd like to try the inbuilt controls first.

    After full fresh Windows XP system reinstallation, I've installed SQL Server 2008 R2 and Visual Studio 2010. Soon I've found that I also have some very handicapped version of VS 2008 IDE installed as a part of VS2010 or SQLServer. At the same time there are a lot of interesting projects on the Web still targeting VS2008. Can I install a full-featured VS 2008 now, without it breaking something (for example by replacing some files with older versions)?

    im developing a piece of software to inset some text in a richedit of another program the code goes like this : atlfe = FindWindowEx(wtlsplitterwindow, 0, "atl:0087d7a8" , null); this is only one line: this works fine , problem is with every release of the program this number ""atl:0087d7a8" changes so i have to use spy++ to get the new one and change it in the code. the question is , is there is any way i can get that number from code? by the way im using C#, vs2010 thanks.

    Anyone experience any issues with IIS7, integrated mode forms authentication while using IE8? I have a website with a login form, once logged in, any postback causes the user to be logged out. This doesn't even happen consistently, sometimes I can login and not experience this issue, other times it happens instantly. I can not replicate the problem in any other browser and I cannot replicate on my development machine running / debugging vs2010.

I stumbled across this article on command binding, it says that command binding is a new feature introduced in silverlight 4. Is command binding integral to MVVM in silverlight, does it make MVVM much simpler to implement? Thanks for any help.

Now I have a problem... WPF control isn't syched to my entity. I read some articles and I understood that I have to use IObservable. Is there an easy way to do that without writing that generated code manually?

  • How can I progrommatically change the target framework from 4.0 to 3.5 of a project/solution?

    Edit 3: After more googling it looks like you can't have the TargetFrameworkMoniker property in a .NET 3.5 application. So I guess I should be asking a different question. How do I change the Target framework from 4.0 to 3.5? Unfortunately, I can only find stuff on how to go the other way. or better yet how do i progrommatically set the target framework version of a project to something other than 4.0? Original question: I just switched to vs2010. I have an application that uses .net 3.5. It loads plugins which are generated by a different app. The plugins are using .net 4 and there for cannot be loaded. I'm using EnvDTE.Project to create a project and set the settings. I can't find what setting needs to be set for this. Edit 1: I'm generating code for about 50 solutions. When I made the switch from vs2005 to vs2010 the projects in those solutions are defaulting to .NET Framework 4.0. So I need to set the .NET Framework to 3.5 when I am generating the code for these solutions. Edit 2: After a lot of googling I found this. so then I tried this: loProp = vsGetProperty("TargetFrameworkMoniker"); vsSetValue(loProp, ".NETFramework,Version=v3.5"); the definitions for those two methods are below. as far as I can tell they do the same this as project.Properties.Item("TargetFrameworkMoniker").Value = ".NETFramework,Version=v4.0,Profile=Client"; I start getting an Property Unavailable Exception later in the code. When I remove the new lines everything works except the projects target framework is still 4.0.     I was used to use RockScroll (or MetalScroll), but when I started to use ReSharper my RockScroll start to show some bugs. Well, this is scope to another discussion http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1089493/is-rockscroll-compatible-with-resharper. But my problem is related, because now without MetalScroll I can't highlight all occurrences, what I consider very useful in many situations. Someone have another plugin for VS2010 or for ReSharper that do the same or better?

    What techniques / methods exist for getting sub-millisecond precision timing data in C or C++, and what precision and accuracy do they provide? I'm looking for methods that don't require additional hardware. The application involves waiting for approximately 50 microseconds +/- 1 microsecond while some external hardware collects data. EDIT: OS is Wndows, probably with VS2010. If I can get drivers and SDK's for the hardware on Linux, I can go there. Thanks.

The problem is, whenever I creates a new project and try to put more than one file that contains a main function, the linker (as I thougt0 explains saying: /home/mohammed/tmp/abcd/main.c:4: multiple definition of `main' (BTW, I used many IDEs, MonoDevelop, QT creator, VS2010, Codebloks, ...) I am currently uses QT Creator, It seems to be a very nice IDE. So, there's not a workaround to solve such problem??
