  • How to test custom template tags in Django?

    - by Mark Lavin
I'm adding a set of template tags to a Django application and I'm not sure how to test them. I've used them in my templates and they seem to be working but I was looking for something more formal. The main logic is done in the models/model managers and has been tested. The tags simply retrieve data and store it in a context variable such as {% views_for_object widget as views %} """ Retrieves the number of views and stores them in a context variable. """ # or {% most_viewed_for_model main.model_name as viewed_models %} """ Retrieves the ViewTrackers for the most viewed instances of the given model. """ So my question is do you typically test your template tags and if you do how do you do it?

  • select time (HH:MM:SS.mmm) in javascript

    - by acidzombie24
I would like the user to select the time in javascript and to avoid selecting the wrong time. How should i do it? Is there some kind of javascript or jquery widget? or should i show the format and allow users to write it in (and i guess check it with regex)? i think these should be valid 1 (1s) 1:5 (1m 5s) 1.5 (1s, 500 milliseconds. not to be confused by the above) 1:2:02 (1h, 2m, 2 seconds) 1:2:2 (1h, 2m, 2 seconds) 1:2:20 (1h, 2m, 20 seconds) I dont want the user to be confused. How can i avoid this?

  • Display a boolean model field in a django form as a radio button rather than the default Checkbox.

    - by Lakshman Prasad
This is how I went about, to display a Boolean model field in the form as Radio buttons Yes and No. choices = ( (1,'Yes'), (0,'No'), ) class EmailEditForm(forms.ModelForm): #Display radio buttons instead of checkboxes to_send_form = forms.ChoiceField(choices=choices,widget=forms.RadioSelect) class Meta: model = EmailParticipant fields = ('to_send_email','to_send_form') def clean(self): """ A workaround as the cleaned_data seems to contain u'1' and u'0'. There may be a better way. """ self.cleaned_data['to_send_form'] = int(self.cleaned_data['to_send_form']) return self.cleaned_data As you can see in the code above, I need a clean method that converts input string to an integer, which may be unnecessary. Is there a better and/or djangoic way to do this. If so, how? And no, using BooleanField seems to cause a lot more problems. Using that seemed obvious to me; but it isn't. Why is it so.

  • Checking for any lowercase letters in a string

    - by pcampbell
Consider a JavaScript method that needs to check whether a given string is in all uppercase letters. The input strings are people's names. The current algorithm is to check for any lowercase letters. var check1 = "Jack Spratt"; var check2 = "BARBARA FOO-BAR"; var check3 = "JASON D'WIDGET"; var isUpper1 = HasLowercaseCharacters(check1); var isUpper2 = HasLowercaseCharacters(check2); var isUpper3 = HasLowercaseCharacters(check3); function HasLowercaseCharacters(string input) { //pattern for finding whether any lowercase alpha characters exist var allLowercase; return allLowercase.test(input); } Is a regex the best way to go here? What pattern would you use to determine whether a string has any lower case alpha characters?

  • PyQt: Get the position of QGraphicsWidgets in a QGraphicsGridLayout

    - by Chris Phillips
I have a fairly simple PyQt application in which I'm placing instances of a QGraphicsWidget in a QGraphicsGridLayout and want to connect the widgets with lines drawn with a QGraphicsPath. Unfortunately, no matter what I try, I always get (0, 0) back as the position for both the start and end widgets. I'm constructing the graph with a recursive function that adds widgets to the scene and layout. Once the recursive function is complete, the layout is added to a new widget, which is added to the scene to show everything. The edges are added to the scene as widgets are created. How do I get a non-zero position of any of the widgets in the grid layout?

  • Editable QTreeView with expandable cells

    - by serge
Hi everyone, I tried to write an editable table based on QTreeView with wordwraped content in cells which in turn should expand in height (that whole text was visible) like usual cells in tables like in MSWord, but have met insuperable obstacles: first - i can't set fixed cell size. second - i can't make text display in cells wordwraped. For this i used void QTreeWidget::setItemWidget ( QTreeWidgetItem * item, int column, QWidget * widget ), but it works only for readonly solutions. And i haven't come up with any other idea. Can such behavior of QTreeView be realized? And how to solve those problems of mine? Thanks in advance Serge

  • How to access the theming Fonts and Colors on GTK/Gnome

    - by Lothar
Lets say i want to write a special text editor widget. How can i get the default themed colors for texts, selected text and background and which are the users default fonts? I see that GNOME does define 5 special system fonts and default sizes for this purpose in the GNOME Appearance Configuration dialog, but i haven't found a single word in the GTK documentation how to access them (and the GTK mailing list is a joke:-( ). Windows and Cocoa both give me dozens of system values. I found the GtkStyle class but this doesn't seem to be what i need.

  • How to copy or duplicate gtk widgets?

    - by PP
Hi, How to copy or duplicate gtk widgets? In my application I have one huge GtkComboBox created with one long for loop which eats up so much of time and I am using this combo at two places in one single screen. So, what I want to do is create this combo for one time and duplicate/copy it in another one so it will save my time. If I try to add same combo box pointer two times, gtk gives me error "child-paren != NULL" cause in gtk widget can have only single parent. So what to do? Thanks, PP.

  • X-Domain and P3P Headers

    - by Jackson
Hi, I have a website A.com and a domain at B.com with a widget inside an iframe getting data from A.com. I want to allow x-domain cookies to be passed from a.com to inside the iframe using ASP.NET My understanding is that - I can do this in IE using P3P Headers - such that the A.com cookie is passed to the iframe and session | cookie data is preserved. The P3P headers have to be sent from the A.com and from the iframe. Is this correct ? In dev, my understanding is if I "accept all cookies" in IE - then P3P headers won't matter anyway and so this should all just work. If I put on Medium Security then P3P is required.

  • Hide Soft Keyboard Not Working ...

    - by stormin986
I'm developing on the Droid Incredible (and have tested on a 1.5 AVD Emulator as well), and one of the tabs in my tab widget consists of a listview and a row with an EditText and a Send button (for a chat feature). I am using the following to close the soft keyboard once I click Send, but it's not working. This is identical to code I've found elsewhere that people have upvoted as correct. See anything I'm missing? // in Button's onClick(): EditText chatTextBox = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.chat_entry); // Handle button click ... chatTextBox.setText(""); InputMethodManager imm = (InputMethodManager)getSystemService(Context.INPUT_METHOD_SERVICE); imm.hideSoftInputFromInputMethod(chatTextBox.getWindowToken(), InputMethodManager.HIDE_IMPLICIT_ONLY); I also tried changing the flag to 0. No luck. Anyone know what's up??

  • Custom component which displays voice recognition button if available

    - by steff
Hi evereyone, I'd like to create a custom component which supports voice recognition. It will primarily be an extended EditText which should show the microphone button for voice recognition if it is available. I wanted to to look at the search app-widget on the homescreen but I don't find it in the source. This is intended to use the voice recognition as some sort of dictation device, i.e. the user does not have to type but use his voice instead. So could anyone please point me in some direction? Thanks in advance, Steff

  • Netbeans Editor Library?

    - by Jeremybub
Netbeans seems to say in several places that it supports a library to just host the "Netbeans editor" widget in some other program. It has some weird documentation that seems to say a lot, but doesn't really say much about how to use it: http://bits.netbeans.org/dev/javadoc/org-netbeans-modules-editor-lib2/architecture-summary.html I can't seem to find any download for the "Netbeans editor library" (1 or 2), and the documentation they provide says to download the entire mercurial repository, which doesn't really help me, since it doesn't tell me what is part of this "library" and what is not. If someone could point me to a download for this library, or some minimal documentation about how to use it, that would be great. I've already seen the blog post here, but it doesn't really help with getting the library, and it seems to be talking about classes which I can't find in the Netbeans sources I downloaded (Maybe a different version?)

  • Very simple, terse and easy GUI programming “frameworks”

    - by jetxee
Please list GUI programming libraries, toolkits, frameworks which allow to write GUI apps quickly. I mean in such a way, that GUI is described entirely in a human-readable (and human-writable) plain text file (code) code is terse (1 or 2 lines of code per widget/event pair), suitable for scripting structure and operation of the GUI is evident from the code (nesting of widgets and flow of events) details about how to build the GUI are hidden (things like mainloop, attaching event listeners, etc.) auto-layouts are supported (vboxes, hboxes, etc.) As answers suggest, this may be defined as declarative GUI programming, but it is not necessarily such. Any approach is OK if it works, is easy to use and terse. There are some GUI libraries/toolkits like this. They are listed below. Please extend the list if you see a qualifying toolkit missing. Indicate if the project is crossplatform, mature, active, and give an example if possible. Please use this wiki to discuss only Open Source projects. This is the list so far (in alphabetical order): Fudgets Fudgets is a Haskell library. Platform: Unix. Status: Experimental, but still maintained. An example: import Fudgets main = fudlogue (shellF "Hello" (labelF "Hello, world!" >+< quitButtonF)) GNUstep Renaissance Renaissance allows to describe GUI in simple XML. Platforms: OSX/GNUstep. Status: part of GNUstep. An example below: <window title="Example"> <vbox> <label font="big"> Click the button below to quit the application </label> <button title="Quit" action="terminate:"/> </vbox> </window> HTML HTML-based GUI (HTML + JS). Crossplatform, mature. Can be used entirely on the client side. Looking for a nice “helloworld” example. JavaFX JavaFX is usable for standalone (desktop) apps as well as for web applications. Not completely crossplatform, not yet completely open source. Status: 1.0 release. An example: Frame { content: Button { text: "Press Me" action: operation() { System.out.println("You pressed me"); } } visible: true } Screenshot is needed. Phooey Phooey is another Haskell library. Crossplatform (wxWidgets), HTML+JS backend planned. Mature and active. An example (a little more than a helloworld): ui1 :: UI () ui1 = title "Shopping List" $ do a <- title "apples" $ islider (0,10) 3 b <- title "bananas" $ islider (0,10) 7 title "total" $ showDisplay (liftA2 (+) a b) PythonCard PythonCard describes GUI in a Python dictionary. Crossplatform (wxWidgets). Some apps use it, but the project seems stalled. There is an active fork. I skip PythonCard example because it is too verbose for the contest. Shoes Shoes for Ruby. Platforms: Win/OSX/GTK+. Status: Young but active. A minimal app looks like this: Shoes.app { @push = button "Push me" @note = para "Nothing pushed so far" @push.click { @note.replace "Aha! Click!" } } Tcl/Tk Tcl/Tk. Crossplatform (its own widget set). Mature (probably even dated) and active. • Is it possible to detect a scrollbar release event in GWT?

    - by Keith
I'm building a GWT app where I want to be able to detect when a user releases a scroll bar on one of my ScrollPanels. My use case is that the horizontal scroll bar represents time. Since it's impossible to represent the full range of scrollable time I want to just represent a small window of time with the scroll bar. When the user moves and releases the scroll bar I want to do a smooth recentering where the new center is the release point. I can work out how to do this by building a custom scroll bar widget, but I wanted to check if I was missing some way to do it using a "native" scroll bar first.

  • jQuery change selected option's background on change of selected item

    - by Scott B
    I have a routine that dynamically changes a select list's "selected" option when the corresponding image from a carousel widget is clicked (it's a wordpress template selector). I'd just like to add a flash of background color, then fade to white, to give the user a visual cue that they've just changed the value of the template chooser select list. I've attempted at it below to assign the className "mySelectedOption" to the selected option, but its not working. I'm sure there is perhaps a better way to get the visual cue I'm looking for, (since the css change is static and wont fade back to white background) $('#carousel ul li').click(function(e) { var myOption = $(this).children('img').attr('title'); $("#myTheme option[value='"+myOption+"']").attr('selected', 'selected'); $("#myTheme :selected]").attr('className', 'mySelectedOption'); });

  • Kendo UI, searchable Combobox

    - by user2083524
I am using the free Kendo UI Core Framework. I am looking for a searchable Combobox that fires the sql after inserting, for example, 2 letters. Behind my Listbox there are more than 10000 items and now it takes too much time when I load or refresh the page. Is it possible to trigger the sql query only by user input like the autocomplete widget do? My code is: <link href="test/styles/kendo.common.min.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <link href="test/styles/kendo.default.min.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <script src="test/js/jquery.min.js"></script> <script src="test/js/kendo.ui.core.min.js"></script> <script> $(document).ready(function() { var objekte = $("#objekte").kendoComboBox({ placeholder: "Objekt auswählen", dataTextField: "kurzname", dataValueField: "objekt_id", minLength: 2, delay: 0, dataSource: new kendo.data.DataSource({ transport: { read: "test/objects.php" }, schema: { data: "data" } }), }).data("kendoComboBox"); </script>

  • Re-using jQuery widgets

    - by Micor
I am looking for a most efficient way to re-use widgets with different selectors... For example if I have: $("#selector1").datepicker({ beforeShow: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onClose: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onSelect: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff } }) And later I am looking to assign this same widget with same functions inside to other selectors which are not known at load time. Since its not about choosing a better selector and I want to avoid: $("#new-selector2").datepicker({ beforeShow: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onClose: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onSelect: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff } }) $("#new-selector3").datepicker({ beforeShow: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onClose: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onSelect: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff } }) What would be the best way of doing something like: var reusableDatepicker = datepicker({ beforeShow: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onClose: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff }, onSelect: function(var1,var2) { // do stuff } }) $("#selector1").attach(reusableDatepicker); $("#new-selector2").attach(reusableDatepicker); $("#new-selector3").attach(reusableDatepicker); I know it has to be obvious to all jQuery devs out there, so obvious I cannot find it in docs :) Thank you!

  • Is AsParallel() good practice in a web environment?

    - by Bjorn Bailleul
I have no doubt that for client applications, AsParallel() will bring some out-of-the-box performance gains. But what if I would use it in a web environment. Let's say I have a widget framework that loops over all widgets to get their data and render output. This would parallelize great no? I do have my doubts on using AsParallel() in this scenario. What if I have a large number of visitors for my site, isn't IIS going to use multiple threads to handle all requests? Aren't there going to be locking issues presented after a while, or threads dying because all processors are in use? It's just a thought, what do you think about this?
