• Nginx server_name is set to mydomain.com, so why is www.mydomain.com getting served too?

  I have my Nginx conf set up as follows: server { listen 443 ssl; server_name mydomain.com; ... } When I load https://mydomain.com, the site loads fine. But when I load https://www.mydomain.com, the site loads as well. Why is this happening? I set up the DNS records using Amazon Route 53 as: A mydomain.com xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (IP) CNAME www.mydomain.com mydomain.com So is a request to www.mydomain.com arriving at Nginx as a request to mydomain.com? If so, how do I differentiate requests to www.mydomain.com and mydomain.com at my server?

• Why do some websites have just http:// in URL address without www.?

  This is not a programming question, but something I was curious for a long time. I am a web developer myself, but do not know the answer to this question. I notice some websites have just http:// in their address, with no www. (eg. http-colon-//delicious) and other websites have www. in their address (eg. http-colon-//www-dot-yahoo-dot-com)

• Is it possible to change the postfix message-id?

  Is it possible to change the message-id in postfix? If I send Mails over an Java-Application I get the following message-id: message-id=<143303043.111334605578921.JavaMail.applicationanme@hostname> So I want that the message-id looks like this: message-id=<[email protected]> What I can understand, if I send mails with the Linux program mail it works: message-id=<[email protected]> I have already set my hostname in the postfix-conf, but when I send a mail with the java-application it doen't work. We use a relay host to send email and any messages which are sent without @domain.tld in the mail-id will detected as a spam mail. Do you have any idea how I can fix this?

• How to configure S3 or DNS to handle incomplete name (sans www) for web site?

  I have a set up a bucket called "www.mydomainname.com" to host my website and I have configured the CNAME such that "www.mydomainname.com" points to the my endopint http://www.mydomainname.com.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/ It works and when people who type the the full url "www.mydomainname.com" are able to see my index page But most people are in the habit of typing incoplete domain name -- they just type "mydomainname.com" and their browser fails to find my site. Is there a way to configure CName or S3 bucket such that typing "mydomainname.com" take them to my s3 website ? (I am using Networksolutions as my DNS provider).

• Juju Zookeeper & Provisioning Agent Not Deployed

  I am using juju with the openstack provider, i expected that when i bootstrap that zookeeper and provisioning agent would get deployed on the bootstrap vm in openstack. This dose not seem to be the case. the bootstrap vm gets deployed but it seems that nothing gets deployed to the VM. See logs below, I may be missing something, also how is it possible to log on the bootstrap vm. Could I manual deploy, if so what do I need to do.   I'm confused by the dev and dist cert. I got one app in the store, but I named my certs after my first app. Was this a mistake? I'm ready to go on my second app. But XCode is selected the dist cert with the old app name on it. It built without error. Though I named it wrong, will it still work? XCode is automatically picking this cert for me. Is this right? You need a new app ID for each app so you can 1) put in plist, 2) put in code signing section on Build tab of Target info, but you don't need a new dev and dist cert for each new app. Therefore is this right too? For each app you develop, you only need your original dev and dist cert, but a new app ID for each app. This is so obscure! I wish apple had done a better job!

  Hi there, I'm looking for an easy and reversible method of obfuscating integer IDs. Ideally, I'd want the resulting obfuscation to be at most eight characters in length and non-sequential, meaning that the obfuscation of "1" should look nothing like the obfuscation for "2" and so on. This isn't meant to be secure by any means, so this isn't a huge concern. Additionally, the integers I'll be obfuscating aren't large - between one and 10,000 - but I don't want any collisions, either. Does anybody have any ideas for something that would fit this criteria?   I am trying to make an SQL statement that takes eight different numbers and searches eight different tables from one database for the corresponding value. I keep getting invalid syntax, but I can't figure out why. The numbers are allocated to every document individually. Since I don't know to program under MS Word, I'd appreciate getting a complete solution.

• Handling Digital ID/Signature in Outlook Add-in

  I have a C# Outlook Add-In application (VS2005 and 2003 Outlook) that reads incoming emails and strips out the attachments and the email text body for future processing. Occasionally I'll get an email that contains a digital signature. The application will fail when I try to access the mailitem.body property, throwing the following exception: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0xAB404001): The operation failed. at Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook._MailItem.get_Body() at MyLib.MyApp.OutlookAddin.MailProcessor.ProcessMailItem(MailItem mailItem) I'm pretty sure it is the digital signature causing the problem because if I forward the email back to myself, it will strip off the original sender's digital signature and the add-in application will process the email without any problems. I'm not sure what to do. I need to process the email, so I can't just ignore it. Somehow getting the body of the original email without throwing an exception would be ideal. Or I guess if I can identify that there is a digital signature associated with the email, I could forward the email to myself, but that seems a little messy. Does anyone have any suggestions/fixes? Thanks for any help.

  I am creating a site that allow users to vote on webpages similar to digg.com. Users login with 'facebook connect' and logged in users can submit, vote, comment, etc and these details appear in their profile ie. number of submits, votes, comments, etc. I have also added in facebook 'likes' to the system. I would however like to be able replace the internal voting platform with facebook 'likes'. What I would like to be able to do is identify when any of the site users vote on a facebook 'like'. Although a facebook 'like' can be made outside of my site I am only interested when a logged in user submits a 'like' so this can contribute towards their stats. Is this possible, if so how? • Wordpress displays posts of category ID

  Can't seem to find the right answer for what I thought would be trivial. I have some categories arranged like this... Parent Category 1 - Child Category 1 - Child Category 2 - Child Category 3 ...and I have some posts that are in Child Category 2. I want my page to display all posts from the category I am currently in. This is what I am doing right now: <?php query_posts('cat=2&showposts=10'); if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?> <div class="timeline"> <h3><?php the_title(); ?></h3> <?php the_content();?> <?php endwhile; else: ?> <?php _e('No Posts Sorry.'); ?> <?php endif; ?> </div> As you can see I am having to manually specify the category (cat=2), but instead I want it to automatically detect the category I am already in and display the posts (that way if I'm in a different category it will display those posts). However, I get a validation error stating the project_id is blank. My controller method: def create # @project is created in before_filter if @project.save flash[:notice] = "Successfully created project." redirect_to @project else render :action => 'new' end end Do I need to manually set the project_id in each nested member record? Or what is necessary for the controller to populate when it creates the member records?
