  • What is the difference between du -h and ls -lh?

    - by PeanutsMonkey
    I am having a difficult time grasping what is the correct way to read the size of the files since each command gives you varying results. I also came across a post at http://forums.devshed.com/linux-help-33/du-and-ls-generating-inconsistent-file-sizes-42169.html which states the following; du gives you the size of the file as it resides on the file system. ( IE will will always give you a result that is divisible by 1024 ). ls will give you the actual size of the file. What you are looking at is the difference between the actual size of the file and the amount of space on disk it takes. ( also called file system efficiency ). What is the difference between as it resides on the file system and actual size of the fil

  • importing modules in app engine

    - by tanky
    Ive asked this before, but it seems i wasnt clear/detailed enough and after a week of trying im still struggling so i will try again. i am trying to use, oauth2 and ply on app engine. i have tried copying their directories into my app engine project directory (in the form ply-3.4 or brosner-python-oauth2-82a05f9) and i have tried copying the specific sub directory contained within the aforemention one. (ply or oauth2) i have tried saying import oauth2, from brosner-oauth2_python-82a05f9 import oauth and other variations on the theme, but i still cant get it to work nothing has worked. i have tried including them in app.yaml, but that seemed to create an even bigger error as my entire project wouldnt even run when i tried that. and now i have run out of things to try. the error log i am getting is as follows. • How to concatenate all commit messages from subversion into one text file with no metadata?

    - by user144182
    I would like to take all the commit messages in my subversion log and just concatenate them into one text file. Each commit message has this format: - r1 message - r1 message - r1 message What I would like is something like: - r1 message - r1 message - r2 message - r2 message - r3 message [...] - r1000 message Update I thought the above was clear, but what I don't want in the log is this type of info: r2130 | user| 2010-03-19 10:36:13 -0400 (Fri, 19 Mar 2010) | 1 line No meta data, I simply want the commit messages.

  • rabbitmq-erlang-client, using rebar friendly pkg, works on dev env fails on rebar release

    - by lfurrea
    I am successfully using the rebar-friendly package of rabbitmq-erlang-client for a simple Hello World rebarized and OTP "compliant" app and things work fine on the dev environment. I am able to fire up an erl console and do my application:start(helloworld). and connect to the broker, open up a channel and communicate to queues. However, then I proceed to do rebar generate and it builds up the release just fine, but when I try to fire up from the self contained release package then things suddenly explode. I know rebar releases are known to be an obscure art, but I would like to know what are my options as far as deployment for an app using the rabbitmq-erlang-client. Below you will find the output of the console on the crash: =INFO REPORT==== 18-Dec-2012::16:41:35 === application: session_record exited: {{{badmatch, {error, {'EXIT', {undef, [{amqp_connection_sup,start_link, [{amqp_params_network,<<"guest">>,<<"guest">>,<<"/">>, "127.0.0.1",5672,0,0,0,infinity,none, [#Fun<amqp_auth_mechanisms.plain.3>, #Fun<amqp_auth_mechanisms.amqplain.3>], [],[]}], []}, {supervisor2,do_start_child_i,3, [{file,"src/supervisor2.erl"},{line,391}]}, {supervisor2,handle_call,3, [{file,"src/supervisor2.erl"},{line,413}]}, {gen_server,handle_msg,5, [{file,"gen_server.erl"},{line,588}]}, {proc_lib,init_p_do_apply,3, [{file,"proc_lib.erl"},{line,227}]}]}}}}, [{amqp_connection,start,1, [{file,"src/amqp_connection.erl"},{line,164}]}, {hello_qp,start_link,0,[{file,"src/hello_qp.erl"},{line,10}]}, {session_record_sup,init,1, [{file,"src/session_record_sup.erl"},{line,55}]}, {supervisor_bridge,init,1, [{file,"supervisor_bridge.erl"},{line,79}]}, {gen_server,init_it,6,[{file,"gen_server.erl"},{line,304}]}, {proc_lib,init_p_do_apply,3, [{file,"proc_lib.erl"},{line,227}]}]}, {session_record_app,start,[normal,[]]}} type: permanent

  • Has Windows 7 Fixed the 255 Character File Path Limit?

    - by The Matt
    As I understand it, the limitation of 255 characters in a file path is a Windows limitation. What is the reasoning for this? If so, has this been resolved in Windows 7? In our continuous integration practices, we often have deeply nested project structures and it would be extremely useful to be able to go beyond 255 characters. Right now we are somewhat forced to structure our projects in such a way as to not hit this artificial ceiling.

  • OpenGL Shader Compile Error

    - by Tomas Cokis
    I'm having a bit of a problem with my code for compiling shaders, namely they both register as failed compiles and no log is received. This is the shader compiling code: /* Make the shader */ Uint size; GLchar* file; loadFileRaw(filePath, file, &size); const char * pFile = file; const GLint pSize = size; newCashe.shader = glCreateShader(shaderType); glShaderSource(newCashe.shader, 1, &pFile, &pSize); glCompileShader(newCashe.shader); GLint shaderCompiled; glGetShaderiv(newCashe.shader, GL_COMPILE_STATUS, &shaderCompiled); if(shaderCompiled == GL_FALSE) { ReportFiler->makeReport("ShaderCasher.cpp", "loadShader()", "Shader did not compile", "The shader " + filePath + " failed to compile, reporting the error - " + OpenGLServices::getShaderLog(newCashe.shader)); } And these are the support functions: bool loadFileRaw(string fileName, char* data, Uint* size) { if (fileName != "") { FILE *file = fopen(fileName.c_str(), "rt"); if (file != NULL) { fseek(file, 0, SEEK_END); *size = ftell(file); rewind(file); if (*size > 0) { data = (char*)malloc(sizeof(char) * (*size + 1)); *size = fread(data, sizeof(char), *size, file); data[*size] = '\0'; } fclose(file); } } return data; } string OpenGLServices::getShaderLog(GLuint obj) { int infologLength = 0; int charsWritten = 0; char *infoLog; glGetShaderiv(obj, GL_INFO_LOG_LENGTH,&infologLength); if (infologLength > 0) { infoLog = (char *)malloc(infologLength); glGetShaderInfoLog(obj, infologLength, &charsWritten, infoLog); string log = infoLog; free(infoLog); return log; } return "<Blank Log>"; } and the shaders I'm loading: void main(void) { gl_FragColor = vec4(1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0); } void main(void) { gl_Position = ftransform(); } In short I get From: ShaderCasher.cpp, In: loadShader(), Subject: Shader did not compile Message: The shader Data/Shaders/Standard/standard.vs failed to compile, reporting the error - <Blank Log> for every shader I compile I've tried replacing the file reading with just a hard coded string but I get the same error so there must be something wrong with how I'm compiling them. I have run and compiled example programs with shaders, so I doubt my drivers are the issue, but in any case I'm on a Nvidia 8600m GT. Can anyone help?

  • Elegant way for a recursive C++ template to do something different with the leaf class?

    - by Costas
    I have a C++ class template that makes an Array of pointers. This also gets typedefed to make Arrays of Arrays and so on: typedef Array<Elem> ElemArray; typedef Array<ElemArray> ElemArrayArray; typedef Array<ElemArrayArray> ElemArrayArrayArray; I would like to be able to set one leaf node from another by copying the pointer so they both refer to the same Elem. But I also want to be able to set one Array (or Array of Arrays etc) from another. In this case I don't want to copy the pointers, I want to keep the arrays seperate and descend into each one until I get to the leaf node, at where I finally copy the pointers. I have code that does this (below). When you set something in an Array it calls a CopyIn method to do the copying. But because this is templated it also has to call the CopyIn method on the leaf class, which means I have to add a dummy method to every leaf class that just returns false. I have also tried adding a flag to the template to tell it whether it contains Arrays or not, and so whether to call the CopyIn method. This works fine - the CopyIn method of the leaf nodes never gets called, but it still has to be there for the compile to work! Is there a better way to do this? #include <stdio.h> class Elem { public: Elem(int v) : mI(v) {} void Print() { printf("%d\n",mI); } bool CopyIn(Elem *v) { return false; } int mI; }; template < typename T > class Array { public: Array(int size) : mB(0), mN(size) { mB = new T* [size]; for (int i=0; i<mN; i++) mB[i] = new T(mN); } ~Array() { for (int i=0; i<mN; i++) delete mB[i]; delete [] mB; } T* Get(int i) { return mB[i]; } void Set(int i, T* v) { if (! mB[i]->CopyIn(v) ) { // its not an array, so copy the pointer mB[i] = v; } } bool CopyIn(Array<T>* v) { for (int i=0; i<mN; i++) { if (v && i < v->mN ) { if ( ! mB[i]->CopyIn( v->mB[i] )) { // its not an array, so copy the pointer mB[i] = v->mB[i]; } } else { mB[i] = 0; } } return true; // we did the copy, no need to copy pointer } void Print() { for (int i=0; i<mN; i++) { printf("[%d] ",i); mB[i]->Print(); } } private: T **mB; int mN; }; typedef Array<Elem> ElemArray; typedef Array<ElemArray> ElemArrayArray; typedef Array<ElemArrayArray> ElemArrayArrayArray; int main () { ElemArrayArrayArray* a = new ElemArrayArrayArray(2); ElemArrayArrayArray* b = new ElemArrayArrayArray(3); // In this case I need to copy the pointer to the Elem into the ElemArrayArray a->Get(0)->Get(0)->Set(0, b->Get(0)->Get(0)->Get(0)); // in this case I need go down through a and b until I get the to Elems // so I can copy the pointers a->Set(1,b->Get(2)); b->Get(0)->Get(0)->Get(0)->mI = 42; // this will also set a[0,0,0] b->Get(2)->Get(1)->Get(1)->mI = 96; // this will also set a[1,1,1] // should be 42,2, 2,2, 3,3, 3,96 a->Print(); }

  • How to use a properties file with Hudson in compilation time?

    - by Neuquino
    Hi, I have a pom.xml that uses cxf-codegen-plugin to generate a couple of WS clients. Inside the configuration of cxf-codegen-plugin, there are the WSDL locations. I would like to externalize those strings to a env.properties file. I used org.codehaus.mojo's properties-maven-plugin to look inside src/main/resources/conf/app/env.properties. How can I make Hudson to replace those properties with the apropiate host? Thanks in advance

  • Copying eclipse projects through command line?

    - by Richie
    Hi, Does anyone know if it is possible to copy an existing project into a new, created workspace on the fly? I can create the workspace already through command line. I am thinking I either need to copy the whole project into another workspace (possible through command line?) or create a new project and copy the .classpath and .project folders. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Richie

  • How do I force the download of a file which link is inside a GridView?

    - by murderdoll
    I have a Gridview that shows a list of files previously uploaded to the server with a HyperLink control to be able to download it, I need to force a download every time the user clicks on one of the provided links, so that the file does not open directly on the browser (they are usually images). Currently I have a side-server function that forces a download, but I do not know how to assign this function to each one of the links when the user clicks on it.

  • Joining remote paths in Java

    - by Mickael Marrache
    I'm using the FTP library provided by Apache (commons-net). I want to check if a file exists on the FTP server so I use the listFiles method of FTPClient: ftpClient.listFiles(remoteFileDir + "\\" + fileName); The current directory is the FTP server root directory. So, the value of remoteFileDir is a path relative to this root directory. My question concerns the merge between the remote directory path and the file name. What is the right way to do it? For a local file, I would do: File file = new File(remoteFileDir,fileName); but here it doesn't work since when I call file.getAbsolutePath(), I get an absolute path for the file in the local current directory which is not what I want. Also, I guess the merging has been done according to my local environment. PS: I looked at How are paths determined on a remote machines? but it doesn't help me. Thanks

  • Why does file have to be saved prior to running ?

    - by ldigas
    In MATLAB, why does the file have to be saved prior to running ? I often try quick snippets of code, which I could also easily run also on the Command Window line by line. So, why when I run them through the editor, I have to save them first ? Can this behaviour be changed, maybe ?

  • How do I Convert ARGB value from string to color?

    - by James
    I am trying to use the MakeColor method in the GDIAPI unit but the conversion from int to byte is not returning me the correct value. Example var argbStr: string; A, R, G, B: Byte; begin argbStr := 'ffffcc88'; A := StrToInt('$' + Copy(AValue, 0, 2)); R := StrToInt('$' + Copy(AValue, 3, 2)); G := StrToInt('$' + Copy(AValue, 5, 2)); B := StrToInt('$' + Copy(AValue, 7, 2)); Result := MakeColor(A, R, G, B); end; What am I doing wrong?
