• Win32 DLL importing issues (DllMain)

  I have a native DLL that is a plug-in to a different application (one that I have essentially zero control of). Everything works just great until I link with an additional .lib file (links my DLL to another DLL named ABQSMABasCoreUtils.dll). This file contains some additional API from the parent application that I would like to utilize. I haven't even written any code to use any of the functions exported but just linking in this new DLL is causing problems. Specifically I get the following error when I attempt to run the program: The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000025). Clock on OK to terminate the application. I believe I have read somewhere that this is typically due to a DllMain function returning FALSE. Also, the following message is written to the standard output: ERROR: Memory allocation attempted before component initialization I am almost 100% sure this error message is coming from the application and is not some type of Windows error. Can anyone help me put this information together and find out why this isn't working? For what it's worth I have confirmed via "dumpbin" that the parent application imports the same DLL (ABQSMABasCoreUtils.dll), so it is being loaded no matter what. I have also tried delay loading this DLL in my DLL but that did not change the results.

• How can I initialize a QTMovie object with certain attributes using writable data?

  I'm trying to create an empty QTMovie object that I can add segments to, and then play. This is easy to do with something like: movie = [[QTMovie alloc] initToWritableData:[NSMutableData dataWithCapacity:1048576] error:&error]; I can then use -insertSegmentOfMovie to insert segments from other movies into this one so I can play it back. The problem is that I also need to set a certain attribute when creating the QTMovie object. In particular, I need to set the QTMovieRateChangesPreservePitchAttribute attribute, so that I can alter playback speed during playback without changing pitch. This attribute cannot be written after the movie is initialized. So, I can create the QTMovie object like this: movie = [[QTMovie alloc] initWithAttributes:[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:[NSNumber numberWithBool:YES], QTMovieRateChangesPreservePitchAttribute, nil] error:&error]; Unfortunately, this is not editable. I've tried setting the QTMovieEditableAttribute as well on creation, but it does not help. I still get an exception when I try to insert anything into this movie. I presume this is because there is no writable file or data reference associated with the QTMovie. Any ideas on how to solve this?

  Have created a very simple Web Service (asmx) in Visual Studio 2010 Professional, and am trying to use the auto-generated unit test cases. I get something that seems quite familiar on this site: The web site could not be configured correctly; getting ASP.NET process information failed. Requesting http://localhost:81/zfp/VSEnterpriseHelper.axd return an error: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/260432/500-error-running-visual-studio-asp-net-unit-test I have tried: 1. Running the tests on IIS rather than ASP.NET Development Server 2. Adding and then removing the XML fragment to my Web Service's .config file 3. Giving the MACHINE\ASPNET account Full control to the local folder My current questions: 1. Why am I being bothered with this instrumentation / code coverage DLL, when this doesn't seem to be something that ships with Visual Studio 2010 Professional? Is there any way I can turn it off? 2. I'm placing the node under in Web.config - is that the correct node? 3. Is it possible to bind to a web service without using the webby test attributes? I've seen other people advising making the Web Service as light-weight as possible. I'm trying to call it with jQuery / AJAX / JSON, so being able to debug the actual web service would be really helpful. Best wishes, Ben

• Trouble compiling C/C++ project in NetBeans 6.8 with MinGW on Windows

  I am learning C and because VC++ 2008 doesn't support C99 features I have just installed NetBeans and configure it to work with MinGW. I can compile single file project ( main.c) and use debugger but when I add new file to project I get error "undefined reference to ... function(code) in that file..". • Is it possible to execute a function in Mongo that accepts any parameters?

  I'm looking to write a function to do a custom query on a collection in Mongo. Problem is, I want to reuse that function. My thought was this (obviously contrived): var awesome = function(count) { return function() { return this.size == parseInt(count); }; } So then I could do something along the lines of: db.collection.find(awesome(5)); However, I get this error: error: { "$err" : "error on invocation of $where function: JS Error: ReferenceError: count is not defined nofile_b:1" } So, it looks like Mongo isn't honoring scope, but I'm really not sure why. Any insight would be appreciated. To go into more depth of what I'd like to do: A collection of documents has lat/lng values, and I want to find all documents within a concave or convex polygon. I have the function written but would ideally be able to reuse the function, so I want to pass in an array of points composing my polygon to the function I execute on Mongo's end. I've looked at Mongo's geospatial querying and it currently on supports circle and box queries - I need something more complex.

• .net user control event handler lost on postback

  I have a menu usercontrol called LeftMenu that has a bulletedlist of linkitems. It's on the ascx page as such: <asp:BulletedList ID="PublisherList" DisplayMode="LinkButton" OnClick="PublisherList_Click" cssClass="Menu" runat="server"></asp:BulletedList> I databind the list in the page_load under if(!isPostBack) I'm having an issue on a page that loads the control. When the page first loads, the event handler fires. However, when the page posts back it no longer fires and in IE8, when I'm debugging, I get "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object expected" in Visual Studio pointing at "doPostBack('LeftMenu$PublisherList','0')." In FF I don't get the error, but nothing happens. I'm **not loading the control dynamically, it's loaded on the aspx page using: <%@ Register TagPrefix="Standards" TagName="LeftMenu" Src="LeftMenu.ascx" %> <Standards:LeftMenu ID="LeftMenu" runat="server"/> Any ideas of where I'm losing the event handler? I just realized this is happening on another user control I have as well. A text box and a button and I'm using the default button to make sure pressing the enter key uses that button. .Net converts that in the html to: <div id="SearchBarInclude_SearchBar" onkeypress="javascript:return WebForm_FireDefaultButton(event, 'SearchBarInclude_QuickSearchButton')"> so as soon as i enter a key in the box I get a javascript error at the line saying "object expected." It seems like the two issues are related. Edit Again: I think I need to clarify. It's not that I'm clicking on the menu item and it can't find the selected item on postback. I have this search page with the left navigation on it and then the main content of the page is something that causes a postback. Everything is fine with this postback. Once that page has been posted back, now if I click on the bulleted list in the left navigation I get a javascript error and it fails. The page_init for the LeftMenu control is never called.

• Using SHFileOperation: What errors are occuring

  Hello I am using the function SHFileOperation() to send a file to the recycling bin. And I am getting 2 errors that I do not know what they mean because with this function the error codes are not GetLastError() values. Now when the function SHFileOperation() fails the return values are 0x57 (decimal 87) & 0x2 (decimal 2). Can you help me discover the definitions of these errors (expecially when you consider with this function, the errors are not part of the GetLastError() codes). Some important information: • I am using Windows 7 (& I know that MSDN says to use IFileOperation instead of SHFileOperation but I want to make my app backwards compatable which is why I am using SHFileOperation). If the error is occuring because I am using SHFileOperation on Windows 7 what solution could I use to make this work on all versions of windows from 2000 & up? • I have debugged extensively & as far as I know my SHFILEOPSTRUCT is correct (correct flags used, .pFrom is a double-null ended string). • Why does one of these statements compile in Scala but not the other?

  (Note: I'm using Scala 2.7.7 here, not 2.8). I'm doing something pretty simple -- creating a map based on the values in a simple, 2-column CSV file -- and I've completed it easily enough, but I'm perplexed at why my first attempt didn't compile. They seem like they should be equivalent to me, apart from the explicit function definition (vs. anonymous in the nonworking example) and () vs. {}. If I replace the curly braces with parentheses in the nonworking example, the error is "';' expected, but 'val' found." But if I remove the local variable definition and split the string twice AND use parens instead of curly braces, it compiles. Can someone explain this difference to me, preferably with a link to Scala docs explaining the difference between parens and curly braces when used to surround method arguments?

  I'm working on a PHP contact form, but I can't get it to work. I get the following error in the Apache server log, running on an Ubuntu Server VM: PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/matthew/Sites/contactFormResponse.php on line 75, referer: http://192.168.1.4/contactForm.php From googling this error, it sounds like it's normally caused by either using the short PHP tag when the server's not set up to recognise them, or by having a block of code that isn't closed correctly. But as far as I can see that isn't the case here - as far as I can see it's all closed correctly. • Help a Beginner with a PHP based Login System

  I'm a bit embarrassed to say, but I've run into issue with creating a PHP based login system. I'm using a site template to handle the looks of the the login process, so I will spare you the code. Here is my thought process on how to handle the login: Create a simple login.php file. On there will be a form whose action is set to itself. It will check to see if the submit has been clicked, and if so validate to make sure the user entered a valid password / username. If they do, set a session variable save some login info (username, NOT password), and redirect them to a restricted area. If the login info isn't valid, save an error message in a session variable, display error message giving further instruction, and wait for the user to resubmit. Here is a chunk of what I have - hopefully one of you experts can see where I've gone wrong, and give me some insight: if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { if(!empty($_POST['username']) AND !empty(!$_POST['password'])) { header("Location: http://www.google.com"); } else { $err = 'All the fields must be filled in!'; } } if($err) { $_SESSION['msg']['login-err'] = $err; } ? Now the above is just an example - the intent of the above code is to process user input, with the script validating simply that the user has given input for username and password. If they have, I would like them, in this case, to be redirected to google.com (for the sake of this example). If not, save an error message. Given my current code, the error message will display perfectly, however if the user submits and has something entered for the username and password, the page simply doesn't redirect. I'm sure this is a silly question, but I am a beginner, and well, to be honest, a bit buzzed right now. Thanks so much!

• SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services (x64) on Windows 2K8 -> CleanCurrentUserName() not found

  I have installed SQL Server 2005 three times now on the same box. I cleaned up registry settings, files, you name it. All along I have been trying to install SQL Server 2005 Database and Reporting Services (x64) on a Windows 2008 Server. I have also applied the SP3 patch. Installing and Restarting the Server at every point. I have installed multiple instances (SQLDEV64, SQLQA64, SQLSTAGE64) of the Database and Reporting Services. I started to go through the Reporting Services Configuration manager, installing the Reporting Database along with setting up IIS. When I go test the website I get the following and there lies my question. How can I get around this error? http://localhost/reportserver Reporting Services Error -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Method not found: 'Void Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.UserUtil.CleanCurrentUserName()'. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SQL Server Reporting Services Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Adding an ADO.NET Entity Data Model throws build errors

  I am using Visual Studio 2013 express. I create a new project and then I add a database to that project. But, when I add an ADO.NET Entity Framework model to that project and then run the program, I get the following four build errors listed below. To try to remedy this myself, I added the namespaces 'System.Data.Entity' and 'System.Data.Entity.Design', but that didn't help. Also, I uninstalled and re-installed the Nuget package. I also uninstalled and re-installed Visual Studio 2013 Express for Windows Desktop. But these measures didn't help the situation either. Please note that I used to use the Entity Data model just fine. But it was around the time that I did a system restore on my computer, and when I updated VS 2013 with an update offered on the start page, and finally, when I signed up for MS Azure, that I started running into the problem described above. Now I would think that uninstalling and reinstalling Visual Studio 2013, and then installing the 'Nuget' Package would solve all problems. What am I missing here? But now, this works fine on localhost, I get the return values nad message properly but when I upload it on server this gives me an error as: data2 is null [Break on this error] $('#display').html(data2.returnValue); This only gives error for return value but insertion, sending mail functionality works fine.   I'm attempting to take Excel 2003 and connect it to SQL Server 2000 to run a few dynamicly generated SQL Queries which ultimately filling certain cells. I'm attempting to do this via VBA via ADO (I've tried 2.8 to 2.0) but I'm getting an error while setting the ActiveConnection variable which is inside the ADODB.Connection object. I need to resolve this pretty quick... Requested operation requires an OLE DB Session object, which is not supported by the current provider. I'm honestly not sure what this error means and right now I don't care. How can get this connection to succeed so that I can run my queries? I'm using the ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 System.Web.Routing with classic WebForms, as described in http://chriscavanagh.wordpress.com/2008/04/25/systemwebrouting-with-webforms-sample/ All works fine, I have custom SEO urls and even the postback works. But there is a case where the postback always fails and I get a: Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. Here is the scenario to reproduce the error: Create a standard webform mypage.aspx with a button Create a Route that maps "a/b/{id}" to "~/mypage.aspx" When you execute the site, you can navigate http://localhost:XXXX/a/b/something the page works. But when you press the button you get the error. The error doen't happen when the Route is just "a/{id}". It seems to be related to the number of sub-paths in the url. If there are at least 2 sub-paths the viewstate validation fails. You get the error even with EnableViewStateMac="false". Any ideas? Is it a bug? Thanks
