  hi everyone, my question is somewhat conceptual, how is parent process' data shared with child process created by a "fork()" call or with a thread created by "pthread_create()" for example, are global variables directly passed into child process and if so, does modification on that variable made by child process effect value of it in parent process? i appreciate partial and complete answers in advance, if i'm missing any existing resource, i'm sorry, i've done some search on google but couldn't find good results thanks again for your time and answers

  From what I have researched it is not possible to change the Timezone of a thread. So my question is why can't you? I would have thought switching your application's culture to a specific country would also switch this, seems like expected behaviour IMO.

  I have both Fruityloops and Propellerheads Reason software synths on my Windows PC. Any way I can get at and script these from either Visual Basic or Python? Or at least send Midi messages to the synths from code? Update : attempts to use something like a "midi-mapper" (thanks for link MusiGenesis) don't seem to work.   Hello, Im using Collections.sort() to sort a LinkedList whose elements implements Comparable interface, so they are sorted in a natural order. In the javadoc documentation its said this method uses mergesort algorithm wich has n*log(n) performance. My question is if there is a more efficient algorithm to sort my LinkedList? The size of that list could be very high and sort will be also very frequent. Thanks!

  I'm doing some VBA development and I found creating SQLs quite efficient way of getting everything done (selecting and updating). But I got to this stage where my SQL statements contain complex Switches and WHERE conditions where I have another Selects to update appropriate records. Therefore, I create this SQLs and I simply run it via "CurrentDb.Execute strSQL" and it does everything fine. The question is, why would I declare ADODB.connections etc, set recordsets, loop through it and manipulate the data one by one?

  The OPS4J repository is down at present and I am trying to run pax-provision using a profile for spring-dm. My question is how do I tell maven to locate the profile information from a site other than ops4j.org. Is this possible? ideally I would like to cache all the packages from the repo especially the spring-dm details which seem never to be cached and are downloaded all the time making coding on the train and times when the site is down impossible. We'd like to give the user the ability of formatting the text. I thought I might use the respective WPF controls (embedded into the Windows Forms application) to make things easy.
