  • Hosting Javascript/CSS file on CDN similar to Google hosting jQuery

    Hello, I am wondering if there are any hosts or if I can host my file (JS & CSS) on Google so that they are cached and load real quick (due to CDN and gzip). A number of my customers use these files and I would prefer if they could somehow include this to file to receive the JS file. Ideally with filename.js?publickey=sdfgsdfg (which will be tied to a particular domain name). The problem is that my hosting needs are very small- only about 100kb. Any suggestions. My problem is that the customers using the JS & CSS file, have no clue about gzipping content or caching (as their shared hosts do not support it), as a result causes the JS/CSS to take forever to load. Am wondering if I can leverage an existing free service, or I do not mind paying either. Thank you for your time.

    Environment: ASP.NET web applicaition jQuery, ASP.NET AJAX Currently using ASP.NET Web Services The title says it all. One, how do i create an ASP.NET web service that is asynchronous? I've seen many articles, that show example with IAsyncResult and BeginMyWebServiceMethod and EndMyWebServiceMethod, some using ThreadPool etc. I would just like to know what is the simplest way to make an asynchronous web service method call (ideally without having to implement other classes, if possible). To me it should be as simple as adding an attribute to the method (but I think that is wishful thinking), e.g. public SomeWebService : WebService { [Asynchronous] public static bool SomeCheck() { // code } } I'm open to using WCF if that makes it easier (we converted to ASP.NET 3.5 around Christmas time). Once I have the asynchronous web service created, what is the best way to call it from client-side script? Via jQuery's $ajax or ASP.NET's auto generated class for a web service that is script method?

  • Swap CSS class on the basis of Scroll Position with Javascript

    I have followed answer given by CMS in relation to getting a menu to stay in one place on the page whilst you scroll the page as per this original question and it works very well but I also have a number of images on the page where I'm using the jquery fancylink plugin to show an enlarged image on click. The problem is when you then close the fancylink popup and scroll to the top of the page the static DIV then decides to stick to the very top of the page. Any ideas or help would this would be greatly appreciated.

This only happens in firefox (and maybe other browsers) but the code works fine in IE8. I have codes like this in jquery: $("#Logout").live("click", function (e) { e.preventDefault(e); $.post("/logout.php", {}, function () { //--a bunch of animations--// window.location = "/login.php"; } }); I have no idea whats wrong as even the error message is not helpful at all.. inside logout.php: <?php session_start(); session_destroy(); ?> Also dont work if I used GET or inserted phantom data. Or is there a more elegant way to do this?

    I'd like to duplicate the find feature (Ctrl-F in Firefox) for my users. In other words, a text box that as the user types, it finds the first occurrence of that text, and if they press "Next", it highlights the next occurrence and moves the page if necessary. I'm thinking the search input would have to be in a div that remained fixed, and as it found what it was looking for, would insert a named anchor just before it and then follow the hyperlink. Do you think this can be done?

    I do have a custom php script that validates captcha code and sends an email. If php script is sending a mail successfully then it returns "true". This is done by: if(!$Error){ echo "true"; exit; } Before returning true, I would like to execute a jQuery command that should refresh the captcha image. I shouldn't be doing this is client side as it might be risky from spammers point of view.   • Komodo IDE 6's slow autocomplete problems with Javascript

    I've been trying out Komodo IDE 6 for the last few days. I've always liked Komodo but I'm starting to get annoyed by something: The autocomplete is way too slow/buggy. Certain variables just won't give any autocomplete tips. Sometimes you have to backspace the dot and try over and over again. It also has a hard time giving autocomplete info for an object that has been created using a class in a namespace. Has anyone else had any problems with these things? Are there any better alternatives?

    Hey everyone. I am having some issues on my end and hopefully it's just something on my end but, could someone take a look at THIS PAGE in IE and let me know if you can see what is wrong. Please check it out first in FF or Chrome or Safari because it all works fine in those browsers. The two scripts I am using are a custom-ish dropdown menu and another using jcarousel lite. Sinatra is told to response with JSON before do content_type :json end A simple Route looks like get '/posts' do Post.find.to_json end My jQuery script is a simple ajax-call $.ajax({ type: 'get', url: 'http://api.com/posts', dataType: 'json', success: function(data) { // do something } }) Actually everything works fine as long as both runs on the same IP, API and requesting JS. I already tried to play around with JSONP for Rack without any positive results, though. Probably I just need a hint how to proceed.

    Hi, I have some sort of a design problem with my Django AJAX application. I have a template where I initialize js variable from django context variable like so: var test = "{{ test }}"; This variable is than used in a number of js functions that are needed for interface to work properly. So now I'm trying to reuse some content from this page in another page that loads it dynamically on some user interaction using jQuery.load(..), and I don't see any way how I can initialize that variable, so js functions don't work now. Is there any solution for this or may be I'm doing it wrong? Thanks.

    Have a text field in the jsp which shows and takes input for ftp Url like below : ftp://ftplog:*****@10.203.291.177/abc/DS/Simulator/B11/B11/L2 The password field above is masked . Now when user tries the edit say ftp to sftp or File Path , He should re-type the password too , other wise What I will be getting in server is only "*" . Can somebody suggest the best way of validating this . It has a lot of test cases that has to be taken care of . Thanks .

    Background: I use a ton of NSDictionary objects in my iPhone and iPad code. I'm sick of the verbose way of getting/setting keys to these state dictionaries. So a little bit of an experiment: I just created a class I call Remap. Remap will take any arbitrary set[VariableName]:(NSObject *) obj selector and forward that message to a function that will insert obj into an internal NSMutableDictionary under the key [vairableName]. Remap will also take any (zero argument) arbitrary [variableName] selector and return the NSObject mapped in the NSMutableDictionary under the key [variableName]. e.g. Remap * remap = [[Remap alloc] init]; NSNumber * testNumber = [NSNumber numberWithInt:46]; [remap setTestNumber:testNumber]; testNumber = [remap testNumber]; [remap setTestString:@"test string"]; NSString * testString = [remap testString]; NSMutableDictionary * testDict = [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObject:testNumber forKey:@"testNumber"]; [remap setTestDict:testDict]; testDict = [remap testDict]; where none of the properties testNumber, testString, or testDict are actually defined in Remap. The crazy thing? It works... My only question is how can I disable the "may not respond to " warnings for JUST accesses to Remap? P.S. : I'll probably end up scrapping this and going with macros since message forwarding is quite inefficient... but aside from that does anyone see other problems with Remap?   • Show content with fancybox like a Javascript Alert

    I try to show the content from a PHP-file in a fancybox but I can't handle it. Now it's the following situation: If a file permission problem occures a <div id="error"> is shown on the website. I'd like to have the content from <div id="error"> in fancybox. Everything I try I get the notice "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later." That means the fancybox, it the file permission error occures, should be shown when the page is loading and not like usual shown when some events like click or mouseover. For example, if the error exists, the following content should be shown in the fancybox: <div style="width:100px; height:100px; background:#f00;"> <p>Failure</p> </div> This snippet is located in a file security_check.php. Now there are two possibilities. The 1st is to load the security_check.php directly into the fancybox or to put in the mentioned above snippet. So: how to load file contents into the fancybox?
