• How to get a Javascript routine to NOT act if it's in a text box?

  I've got a simple page, and in that page runs a simple jquery keypress routine to catch clicks of the numbers 1 to 9 (has to be that to pass RNIB accessibility test). And in that page is a form, which can have numbers entered as part of a postcode. http://find.talking-newspapers.co.uk/result.php?addressInput=kingston Scroll to the bottom, try typing 8 or 9 for example. The text is entered, but it also acts on the keypress. Expected, but not good. I'm aware of various things like document.getElementById, but I can't figure out how to put these together to ensure that while the cursor is in the text input box, it doesn't act out the keypress catcher.

  Hi all, I am trying to use Core Data in my application and I have been succesful in storing data into the entity.The data storage is done in the applicationDidFinishLaunchingWithOptions() method.But when I run the app again,it again gets saved.So how do I check if the data is already present or not?? • Measuring the performance of classification algorithm

  I've got a classification problem in my hand, which I'd like to address with a machine learning algorithm ( Bayes, or Markovian probably, the question is independent on the classifier to be used). Given a number of training instances, I'm looking for a way to measure the performance of an implemented classificator, with taking data overfitting problem into account. That is: given N[1..100] training samples, if I run the training algorithm on every one of the samples, and use this very same samples to measure fitness, it might stuck into a data overfitting problem -the classifier will know the exact answers for the training instances, without having much predictive power, rendering the fitness results useless. An obvious solution would be seperating the hand-tagged samples into training, and test samples; and I'd like to learn about methods selecting the statistically significant samples for training. White papers, book pointers, and PDFs much appreciated!

• How do I get the median/mode/range of a column in SQL using Java?

  I have to get the median, mode and range of test scores from one column in a table but I am unsure how to go about doing that. When you connect to the database using java, you are normally returned a ResultSet that you can make a table or something out of but how do you get particular numbers or digits? Is there an SQL command to get the median/mode/range or will I have to calculate this myself, and how do you pull out numbers from the table in order to be able to calculate the mode/median/range?   So I'm just getting started with Nokogiri and Rails I have the following which returns the name of someone. TEST.rb: require 'nokogiri' require 'open-uri' url = "http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1439629/" doc = Nokogiri::HTML(open(url)) puts doc.css("div#wrapper [...too long...]")[0].text Now I created a table in my DB on rails and want to send the returned name to the actor table in the name column! How would I do that ? I can't seem to find atutorial on this... My goal would eventually be to have a rails form where I'd input an IMDB link which would return title and so on... (Also I'm new to ruby rails and programming so please provide easy info!)

• Draggble object hides outside content when wrapt in span

  I have a simple CSS problem In this site http://web.cinaird.se/pdf/test.htm I have a draggable images in the top content, I want a span that float on top of the image and for this I need a span containing the image and a span floating on top. So long no problem but now when i drag the image it hides outside the top content. so my question is as follows, how can I wrap a image and a floating span above and still be able to drag it outside the container. I hop I don't have missed something obvious and you have a quick solution, Thanks for your time.

• Can this loop be sped up in pure Python?

  I was trying out an experiment with Python, trying to find out how many times it could add one to an integer in one minute's time. Assuming two computers are the same except for the speed of the CPUs, this should give an estimate of how fast some CPU operations may take for the computer in question. The code below is an example of a test designed to fulfill the requirements given above. This version is about 20% faster than the first attempt and 150% faster than the third attempt. Can anyone make any suggestions as to how to get the most additions in a minute's time span? Higher numbers are desireable. • Visual Studio Unit Testing of Windows Forms

  We're working on a project here in Visual Studio 2008. We're using the built-in testing suite provided with it (the Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting namespace). It turns out, that much to our chagrin, a great deal of complexity (and therefore errors) have wound up coded into our UI layer. While our unit tests do a decent job of covering our business layer, our UI layer is a constant source of irritation. We'd ideally like to unit-test that, as well. Does anyone know of a good "Microsoft-compatible" way of doing that in visual studio? Will it introduce some sort of conflict to 'mix' unit testing frameworks like nUnitForms with the Microsoft stuff? Are there any obvious bear traps I should be aware of with unit-testing forms?

• Firefox 3.5.9 pushes down input:text when all other browsers render it fine

  Hi, I have run into a really odd bug with FF3.5.9 (and potentially lower) where it is moving the input:text below the input:submit. The strangest thing with this is that it is working on IE6/7/8, Chrome, Safari and Firefox 3.6. Here is a test page so you can see how it is marked up: http://paste-it.net/public/s6479e6/ I can fix the issue for FF3.5.9 by adding padding-bottom (15px) but this then puts the other browsers out of action. Has anyone else had a similar issue and found a fix? Seems like such a minor issue but I just can't find a fix for it and I am not really into having to absolute position the inputs as that seems too hacky! Thanks for your time, Ad

The current process is to run through a manual script and record how long certain processes take to populate data, it may populate a datagrid, a tree, a list box, etc... It will also need to be able record how long it takes to generate a pdf report. We do not require extremely accurate time just to the nearest second or less than a second. I need to know if there is a simple Automated testing product that will handle the above criteria.

• Custom Parser for JQuery Tablesorter

  I'm using the jQuery Tablesorter and have an issue with the order in which parsers are applied against table columns. I'm adding a custom parser to handle currency of the form $-3.33. $.tablesorter.addParser({ id: "fancyCurrency", is: function(s) { return /^\$[\-]?[0-9,\.]*$/.test(s); }, format: function(s) { s = s.replace(/[$,]/g,''); return $.tablesorter.formatFloat( s ); }, type: "numeric" }); The problem seems to be that the built-in currency parser takes precedence over my custom parser. I could put the parser in the tablesorter code itself (before the currency parser) and it works properly, but this isn't very maintainable. I can't specify the sorter manually using something like: headers: { 3: { sorter: "fancyNumber" }, 11: { sorter: "fancyCurrency" } } since the table columns are generated dynamically from user inputs. I guess one option would be to specify the sorter to use as a css class and use some JQuery to explicitly specify a sorter like this question suggests, but I'd prefer to stick with dynamic detection if possible.

• How can I make a core-plot graph on the phone that doesn't auto-expand to fill the whole superview

  I'm pretty sure I saw an example where the graph wasn't filling the whole iPhone screen, but I can't get that to happen in my app, nor in the Core-Plot Test app from Switch On The Code. I've added a subview to the original CPLayerHostingView in the sample, then changed the classes – original back to UIView, new subview to CPLayerHostingView, and I've reconnected the File's owner's view outlet to the new subview. When I create a graph with: graph = [[CPXYGraph alloc] initWithFrame: theSubviewOutlet.bounds]; … and step through the first stages of building up the layers the bounds are accurate (i.e. the same as in the .xib) however, when all the initialization is done, and the graph shows up, it fills the whole superview. Am I missing something obvious?

• getResourceAsStream returns HttpInputStream not of the entire file

  Hi, I am having a web application with an applet which will copy a file packed witht the applet to the client machine. When I deploy it to webserver and use: InputStream in = getClass().getResourceAsStream("filename") ; The in.available() always return a size of 8192 bytes for every file I tried, which means the file is corrupted when it is copied to the client computer. The InputStream is of type HttpInputStream (sun.net.protocol.http.HttpUrlConnection$httpInputStream). But while I test applet in applet viewer, the files are copied fine, with the InputStream returned is of type BufferedInputStream, which has the file's byte sizes. I guess that when getResourceStream in file system the BufferedInputStream will be used and when at http protocol, HttpInputStream will be used. How will I copy the file completely, is there a size limited for HttpInputStream? Thanks a lot.

  Hello A client of mine has had an HD crash an a SQL DB got corrupt : They did not make backups so they have a big problem. When I tried (an ultimate measure) to DBCC-repair I got the following message. Can anybody help me with this ? Server: Msg 8966, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Could not read and latch page (1:872) with latch type SH. sysindexes failed. Server: Msg 8944, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Table error: Object ID 2, index ID 0, page (1:872), row 11. Test (columnOffsets->IsComplex (varColumnNumber) && (ColumnId == COLID_HYDRA_TEXTPTR || ColumnId == COLID_INROW_ROOT || ColumnId == COLID_BACKPTR)) failed. Values are 2 and 5. The repair level on the DBCC statement caused this repair to be bypassed. CHECKTABLE found 0 allocation errors and 1 consistency errors in table 'sysindexes' (object ID 2). DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator.

• BizTalk external assembly namespace and static methods

  Is there some restriction in BizTalk 2006 R2 to accessing static methods in external assemblies when the assembly has a "." in the name ? I have the solution set-up with the BizTalk project "FooBar", and the external assembly project "FooBar.Helper" (strongly signed and GAC'ed) with a class "Demo" (public and serializable), which is referenced in the BizTalk project I can create a BizTalk variable of type "FooBar.Helper.Demo" and access an instance method fine, but an expression window the Intellisense shows the FooBar namespace, but if I dot it, I get the error "illegal dotted name" ??? However I can add another project, "ExtComp" with class "Test" and it's static methods are displayed in Intellisense !!! The only difference I can see is the first external assembly has the dot in it

• jQuery drag and drop behavior with partially transparent image

  I'm trying to develop a drag-and-drop behavior based on the jQuery UI draggable behavior but am running into some road blocks. I want to be able to drag several images with transparent regions around a region of the screen. I want the user to be able to drag the image he clicks and not just whatever draggable div or PNG happens to be z-indexed on top. The below image is a screen grab from my test page. If I click the lower left region of the blue square through the red thing I should drag the square and not the red thing. The red thing is what gets dragged though because it is on top and the browser does not care about the transparency. My question is, how can I make it behave as expected in this situation and drag the square instead? Edit: Seems I can't attach images as a new user. • jQuery Click event on object added with JavaScript not working.

  I'm work on a quiz for school but I've bumped into a problem. I got a javascript file for custom radio buttons (CUSTOM FORM ELEMNTS by Ryan Fait if it's helping). The script hides the input buttons and adds custom styled spans instead. Now what I want, when I click one of these JavaScript added spans I want to remove disabled for a button called "Next Question" which when pressed takes you to the next question. The reason for this is that I don't want people to accidently got to the next question without choosing a answer. The problem is when I press the added spans nothing happens but when I press another identical span which I have added in the html it works just as intended. The span got the class radio which is the class I'm looking for in the jQuery. • Win CE 6.0 client using WCF Services - Reduce Bandwidth

  We have a Win CE 6.0 device that is required to consume services that will be provided using WCF. We are attempting to reduce bandwidth usage as much as possible and with a simple test we have found that using UDP instead of HTTP saved significant data usage. I understand there are limitations regarding WCF on .NET Compact Framework 3.5 devices and was curious what people thought would be the appropriate way forward. Would it make sense to develop a custom UDP binding, and would that work for both sides? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

  This is NOT a question about which is the best framework, etc. I have never used a mocking framework and I'm a bit puzzled by the idea. How does it know how to create the mock object? Is it done in runtime or generates a file? How do you know its behavior? And most importantly - what is the work flow of using such a framework (what is the step-by-step for creating a test). Can anyone explain? You can choose whichever framework you like for example, just say what it is.

• PDF Viewer Showing Last Page...

  I have a asp.net app that writes a pdf to file. Then, later that file is opened into a window (standard acrobat reader) for viewing. No problems there. The weird part... The entire document loads as it should, but the Reader initially shows the last page in the document on the screen. The user must then scroll up to the first page. It doesn't happen all the time (about 50%) and occurs across several test computers. Is there a switch in the code I'm suppose to use in creating the file or displaying the file to tell the reader to "start displaying the document on the first page?" Environment particulars: asp.net 3.5 vb, websupergoo's abcpdf.net pro 7 (assembly that creates the pdf file), Windows 2008 Server, IIS7 Thanks

• How can I hook up an IBAction method to a plain view for a touch up event?

  I have created a blank new view-based application project in Xcode. It generated a myProjectViewController and an nib for it. In that nib for that view controller, there is just one view. I wanted to test some event handling stuff and created an -(IBAction) method that will just log a "hello world" when I touch the view. But for some reason, IB doesn't give me a chance to hook up the action. What am I doing wrong there? I also tried to put a UIView as subview there. When I drag from that to File's Owner (whoose class is the myProjectViewController, where I have the IBAction in the header), doesn't even mention the IBAction. But it actually should, right?
