  Windows Azure is a Platform as a Service – a PaaS – that runs code you write. That code doesn’t just mean the languages on the .NET platform – you can run code from multiple languages, including Java. • The extern alias 'xxx' was not specified in a /reference option

  I have two assemblies that unfortunately define the same type in the same namespace. I'm trying to use a an extern alias to work around the problem. In the Visual Studio IDE I have set the "Aliases" property of the reference to my alias. This is supposed to change the C# compiler command line to be something like this: /reference:MyAlias=MyAssembly.dll But it doesn't actually do that. The Visual Studio IDE seems to just ignore the Aliases property setting on the reference. So when I go and add the line extern alias MyAlias; at the top of my C# code file I get the error that the alias was not specified in a /reference option to the compiler. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Any ideas?

  Hello, I am using qt 4.5 I have created a project and I want to compile on visual studio 2008 for windows mobile 6.0 So I have created the project files doing this: D:\Projects\Phone_PDA\Phone_PDA>set QMAKESPEC=win32-msvc2008 D:\Projects\Phone_PDA\Phone_PDA>qmake -tp vc The VS project was created. However, when I try and compile I get this error: LINK : fatal error LNK1181: cannot open input file 'c:\Qt\qt\lib\qtmaind.lib' However, when I check my librarys and includes under project properties in visual studio. • WPF storyboard animation issue when using VisualBrush

  Hey guys, I was playing around with storyboards, a flipping animation, and visual brushes. I have encountered an issue though. Below is the xaml and code-behind of a small sample I quickly put together to try to demonstrate the problem. When you first start the app, you are presented with a red square and two buttons. If you click the "Flip" button, the red square will "flip" over and a blue one will appear. In reality, all that is happening is that the scale of the width of the StackPanel that the red square is in is being decreased until it reaches zero and then the StackPanel where a blue square is, whose width is initially scaled to zero, has its width increased. If you click the "Flip" button a few times, the animation looks ok and smooth. Now, if you hit the "Reflection" button, a reflection of the red/blue buttons is added to their respective StackPanels. Hitting the "Flip" button now will still cause the flip animation but it is no longer a smooth animation. The StackPanels width often does not shrink to zero. The width shrinks somewhat but then just stops before being completely invisible. Then the other StackPanel appears as usual. The only thing that changed was adding the reflection, which is just a VisualBrush. Below is the code. Does anyone have any idea why the animations are different between the two cases (stalling in the second case)? } } } } UPDATE: I have been testing this some more to try to find out what is causing the issue I am seeing and I believe I found what is causing the issue. Below I have pasted new xaml and code-behind. The new sample below is very similar to the original sample, with a few minor modifications. The xaml basically consists of two stack panels, each containing two borders. The second border in each stack panel is a visual brush (a reflection of the border above it). Now, when I click the "Flip" button, one stack panel gets its ScaleX reduced to zero, while the second stack panel, whose initial ScaleX is zero, gets its ScaleX increased to 1. This animation gives the illusion of flipping. There are also two textblocks which display the scale factor of each stack panel. I added those to try to diagnose my issue. The issue is (as described in the oringal post) that the flipping animation is not smooth. Every time I hit the flip button, the animation starts but whenever the ScaleX factor gets to around .14 to .16, the animation looks like it stalls and the stack panels never have there ScaleX reduced to zero, so they never totally disappear. Now, the strange thing is that if I change the Width/Height properties of the "frontBorder" and "backBorder" borders defined below to use explict values instead of Auto, such as Width=105 and Height=75 (to match the button in the border) everything works fine. The animation stutters the first two or three times I run it but after that the flips are smooth and flawless. (BTW, when an animation is run for the first time, is there something going on in the background, some sort of initialization, that causes it to be a little slow the first time?) Is it possible that the Auto Width/Height of the borders are causing the issue? I can reproduce it everytime but I am not sure why Auto Width/Height would be a problem. Below is the sample. • axis2 web service behave differently when tested with web service client or with local test class

  Hello I need to update a facade to some web service proxy classes to a third party web service, and expose them as a service. This for two reason : to maintain the same interface for all application that need to use the system : actually its migrating and there are a few differences in the third party ws (method names); and to expose a simplified interface. The third party has provided me with a manual and some pregenerated proxy classes to their service (the java file says generated with axis2 1,4) . I've used netbeans 6.8 and the axis2 plugin to create an axis2 service . This service contains the proxy classes and the facade class which instantiate the web service proxy and calls its method; the facade class is exposed as service. I've used axis2 1.4 (at beginnig and later 1.5 ) and tomcat 6.0. The first test i did was to call the facede methods from inside the project itself and it worked. Then i've created a new project with a jax-ws web service client to call my class deployed on axis2. At this point has happened two strange thing : In the axis2 services page has appeared the third party proxy class as if it were a new service (if i try to get the wsdl axis raises an error ). eg. the proxy interface is named WebServiceAPI (_stub is the concrete class) and , after the first call to my service , i find a new "WebServicesAPI1272968932531_1" service inside axis . It may be asking a bit much, but I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that with these three, I'd be able to understand the idea and apply it to many other component types in this family. As result IEXPLORAR remain running. What is the problem? Of course it is possible to just kill the process like this: // Id of IEXPLORAR _ie.ProcessID Process.GetProcessById(_processId).Kill(); this._ie = null; But I don't really like this way... Any ideas?

  I'm trying to move a control from one parent to another (if this will work I'm not quite sure). I can get a hold of the control that I want to move. Here is my code: public void MoveElement(UIElement uiElement) { var element = ((FrameworkElement)uiElement).Parent; //TODO:Remove from parent myControl.Children.Add(uiElement); } When I hit the last statment an ArgumentException is thrown stating "Specified Visual is already a child of another Visual or the root of a CompositionTarget." The strange thing is that Parent is returning null. How do locate the parent? Will this even work?

• Removing offline/defunct files in SQL server 2008

  How to remove traces of files marked as OFFLINE or DEFUNCT in Microsoft SQL server 2008? I have been playing around with a setup where I create a database with 3 file-groups which are: Primary, FileGroupData and FileGroupIndex. The clustered index is using FileGroupData and a non-clustered index is set to use FileGroupIndex. To simulate a disk failure I've shut down SQL server and manually deleted the files in index file-group. To start the database I'll mark the files 'OFFLINE', but after that I can't delete the index files, which are now offline. I don't have backup of the files as they are merely indices, but that has the implication that I can't restore the files and have their status as "ONLINE". How would you recommend removing the files and the file-group as they still show up in management studio under files/file-groups. Management studio is not able to delete them.   I'm trying to use the new OpenCV 2.0 API in MS Visual C++ 2008 and wrote this simple program: cv::Mat img1 = cv::imread("image.jpg",1); cv::namedWindow("My Window", CV_WINDOW_AUTOSIZE); cv::imshow("My Window", img1); Visual Studio returnes an unhandled exception and the Console returns: OpenCV Error: bad flag (parameter or structure field) (Unrecognized or unsupported array type) in unknown function, file ..\..\..\..\ocv\opencv\src\cxcore\cxarray.cpp, line 2376 The image is not displayed. Furthermore the window "My Window" has a strange caption: "ÌÌÌÌMy Window", which is not dependent on the name. The "old" C API using commands like cvLoadImage, cvNamedWindow or cvShowImage works without any problem for the same image file. I tried a lot of different stuff without success. The web service is running on Glassfish and is soap 1.1, I've tried using all the packaged wcf bindings but have not been able to get them to work. I started down the path of using a MessageInspector, and wrote one but then realized there must be a better way, surely WCF provides some way to insert saml 2.0 assertions. I've made the most progress writing a custom binding - i've been able to get the timestamp and signature nodes in the soap header, but cannot for the life of me figure out the saml assertion. • Using WPFPerf to profile a WPF 4.0 application doesn't show me any information

  I am trying to use WPFPerf to profile a WPF 4.0 application (I have the latest WPFPerf that should work on WPF 4.0 aps). I start the tool Visual Profiler from WPFPerf, I start my aplication, but after that nothing happens and the element tree from the Visual Profiler is empty. No other error message is shown. Can anyone tell me what am I not doint right? As an additional information, when I try to analize my .exe assembly or any other assembly from my application, I get a BadFormatException saying that the assembly was build with a newer version of .NET. From the download page http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=191420 I see that this version of WPFPerf should be ok for my app

• How do you debug Silverlight applications with Chrome AND hit breakpoints?

  I am using Visual Studio 2010 to create a Silverlight 4 application. I set a breakpoint in my code-behind, start the debug session from Visual Studio, and unfortunately, my breakpoint never gets hit. So, I eventually I tried setting my default browser to Internet Explorer ... and lo and behold ... my breakpoint gets suddenly hit. Is Chrome a supported browser for debugging Silverlight applications? If so, what am I missing in order to get this to work? Or, is Internet Explorer the only supported browser when it comes to debugging?

• Consuming SAP Web Service from ASP.Net

  Hi, Next week i am supposed to develop an asp.net application which will connect to SAP, retrieve some data, change them and send back to SAP. We decided to use web services to achieve this and now i just want to know what diffuculties may i face with? I have URL of WSDL of the Web Service, will it be enough for me to adding web reference and giving the WSDL's URL? How will i authenticate? And Will it be the same with consuming normal web services? Also i wonder is there anybody that can share a .NET dll that can be used in visual studio 2008? There are some articles relating how to create such a dll using SAP .Net Connector and visual studio 2003 but i could not find anybody sharing the resulting dll under their post. Thanks...
