• I&rsquo;m back, now with Windows Live Writer goodness

  I’ve reimaged my home laptop.  I’m trying to populate it with as much free goodness as possible to see if the free way is as good as the old pay way.  Turns out, I’ve got access to Windows Live Writer.  I’m not sure where that came from, maybe with Vista Ultimate.  I don’t know.  Either way, it makes my blog posting a whole lot easier.  So, maybe, just maybe, it will make me more likely to post.  We’ll see. • Looking for a Python UI library comparable with Windows Forms [on hold]

  I am looking for a Python UI library which I could use to develop a desktop GUI comparable to what can be done with .NET Windows Forms. I have no previous experience programming UI in Python, so I would rather choose (if there is a choice) something simple. The application I am building would be a document oriented - rich texts, lists and grids, I don't expect to use much graphics - mostly formatted texts. Any pointers, and if there is more than one major GUI library available for Python - how could I quickly test them to see which one is a better fit for my needs?

• Triple boot problem with Windows 7, Ubuntu 12.04 & Fedora 17

  I just installed Fedora 17 after Ubuntu 12.04, But now I can't boot into any of 2 linux, I also have windows 7 installed and I can boot to it, I edited boot with EasyBCD. During installation of Fedora 17 I used standard creating partition and used Separate "/boot" , "/", "Swap" , "Home" for Fedora 17, Is this fixable? or I have to reinstall 2 OS? Also Is possible to share one "Swap" partition? And I am on Ubuntu live cd. Thanks for any guides.

• Cisco VPN connection using CertStore as in Windows

  Hello ! In Windows I was using Cisco VPN client to connect with VPN. In connection properties I set only hostname and choose certificate which are stored in C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client\Certificates. I moved yesterday to Ubuntu and I need to be able to connect with that host using those certificates too. I know that there is vpnc and network-manager-vpnc but it not allows (or I do not know about it) to set cerificates dir. Can someone tell me how to connect with VPN using certificates ?

• Text Editor with SSH/Terminal/FTP/Putty combo for develeping in Rails on Windows

  I plan to learn Ruby on Rails and would like to code in my development box which runs on Windows XP. I have Ubuntu Server (forgot the version ;p) running as my web server with Rails installed on it. I have been considering using Vim as my text editor of choice in XP but would like to know any text editor and accompanying shell/FTP/Putty/SSH (or whatever you may call it) program that can access those files in my Ubuntu server. It is better if the shell can be called or is bundled inside the text editor. I would like to know your combinations (text editor + shell) and your experiences on it when you were able to develop your Rails projects on that combination. Cheers!

• Insanity joining Server 12.04 to Windows AD

  I've seen lots of stuff about this error on the internet, but had no luck implementing a solution. I'm trying to use Likewise-Open to join an Ubuntu Server 12.04 machine to a Windows Active Dicrectory domain controller and having absolutely no luck. I run: sudo domainjoin-cli join my.domain.gob ADMINISTRATOR and get back (after putting in the admin password): Error: DNS_ERROR_BAD_PACKET [code 0x0000251e] A bad packet was recieved from a DNS server. Potentially the requested address does not exist. I have heard that WAD insists on being your only nameserver, and in attempts to make that work, I've tried editing /etc/resolv.conf and /etc/network/interfaces but none of that has worked either. Ideas?

• Unable to log in to ubuntu server 10.04 after trying to join windows domain

  I was trying to join our ubuntu 10.04 server to the windows domain and I ended up editing the pam.d configuration files. My aim was to have domain users log into the ubuntu server with their domain accounts in order to access some applications instead of creating new unix users each time. My system admin says the join was successful to the domain. Now I have no way of logging into the sever. Is there a way I can undo everything and get the server back to the original login using the local account? I will also appreciate if someone pointed me to some configuration that actually worked - I am still willing to try and make it work.

  Windows 2008 R2 might end up giving me a heart attack at some point. Yesterday I installed and configured UDDI 3.0 as part of an ESB 2.0 install & config.  After configuring UDDI 3.0, if I browsed to the localhost/uddi virtual directory from IIS, all of the links would show up in UDDI.  If opened up IE and went to the UDDI site only the Home and Search links would show up. You've probably already guessed at what the "fix" was... I had to Run IE as Administrator.  Then when I browse to the UDDI site all of the links show up.

  Expression Blend is a wonderful design environment for WP7 (Windows Phone 7) but for quickly visualizing a concept nothing beats Illustrator! I am excited about WP7 and decided that having a solid .ai template would prove invaluable. Some of the details of the WP7 UI Design and Interaction Guide are a bit fuzzy (literally) but I was able to generate some useful layout guides, character styles, and symbols.   I keep seeing people wanting to do this (or something very similar) and then being surprised at how much it might cost them if they went with Windows Azure. Time for a Q&A. Short answer: No, definitely not. Madness, sheer madness. (Hopefully that was clear enough) Longer answer: No because It would cost you a heck of a lot more than just about any other approach to running a blog. A site that can easily be run on a shared hosting solution (as many blogs do today) does not require the rich capabilities of Windows Azure. Capabilities such as simplified deployed and management, dedicated resources, elastic resources, “unlimited” storage etc. It is simply not the type of application the Windows Azure Platform has been designed for. • How to disable the auto resizing of Windows when you touch the top or bottom

  Can someone tell me how to stop the autoresizing behavior of Windows in Ubuntu 14.04 when you touch the top or bottom when resizing the window. There is an undesirable effect of the the bottom resizing all the way to the bottom when you only want to resize the top, or vice-versa. In the past it was possible to disable this effect by unchecking grid in CCSM. Then came Unity Tweak tool which made it easy to remove. You could remove it by turning off Window snapping and Hotcorners. Now in Ubuntu 14.04 I have all those feature turned off and yet I can't resize only the top or only the bottom without the other end automatically moving.
