  • Uncaught syntax error: Adding <li> elements to an <ul>

    - by ThePagan
    I keep getting an uncaught syntex error which I know usually means your code has a missing closing something. I keep failing to see what it is that I am missing. The idea of the function is that it extracts the a links ID and Text content and add's it to an un-ordered list. The links have a class of 'ingredient_add' and the unordered list has an ID of 'ingredientsAdded'. I can't see what I've missed here. $(document).ready(function() { $('.ingredient_add').click(function() { event.preventDefault(); var id = this.id; var value = this.text(); $('#ingredientsAdded').append("<li id='"+id+"'>"+value+"</li>"); }); //end add to list }); // end document ready()

  • Stop then restart submit() after ajax check

    - by jeerose
    I asked a question [here] recently and it's just not providing me with an answer. Here's what I want to do and you can see my first attempt at the link above: User submits form Stop default submit action check to see if a similar entry exists in database If it does, display a notice asking them if they want to submit anyway and give an option to let them submit anyway (enable default action and submit it). If it does not, enable the default action on the form and let it submit I'm at a loss. Any help is appreciated. Thanks gang.

  • Calling function and running it

    - by devs
    I am quite new to objects and OOP. I really don't know how to explain it well but I'll try. So I am trying to read though JSON with JS, the JSON is passed from PHP. This would be easy if all of the information was on the same html page, but I' am trying something that I am new too. So let me show my code... First is the JS which is in app.js var Donors = function(){ var api = this.list; $(document).ready(function(){ $.getJSON(api, function(){ var donorObj = api.payload; $.each(donorObj, function(i, donor){ //console.log(donor.ign); }); }); }); } What I want this part to do is read from the JSON I'm giving it and console.log each name (or donor.ign) when the document is ready. On the html page, or header.php <script> $(function(){ var list = <?php cbProxy(); ?>; var Dons = new Donors(); Dons.list = list; }); </script> the data that's in list is the below JSON. You already know what the rest does, it just passes the JSON to the Donors() function. JSON example: { "code": 0, "payload": [ { "time": 1349661897, "packages": [ "49381" ], "ign": "Notch", "price": "15.99", "currency": "USD" } I'm use to just making functions and calling it on the same page or file and this is my first doing this kind of function. How can I get the function to run with the data I sent it so it console.log() each name.

  • value not posting to php script

    - by user3710364
    step1 batch in dynamically loaded after selecting one of the value from dropdown step 2 is loaded by ajax call in setp 2 when i click on edit step 3 is loaded via ajax call again in step 3 when i click on edit ajax call is working fine but its nit posting the value to php script //ajax call function validateFees(strAddNo) { var collectFees = $("#collectFees").val(); if(collectFees == "") { $("#validateFeesResult").html('<div class="info">Please enter your Fees Amount.</div>'); $("#collectFees").focus(); } else { var dataString = 'collectFees' + collectFees + 'strAddNo' + strAddNo; $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "validateFees_script.php", data: dataString, cache: false, beforeSend: function() { $("#validateFeesResult").html('Loading...'); }, success: function(response) { $("#validateFeesResult").hide().fadeIn('slow').html(response); } }); } } I'm sure it's extremely simple but I'm not understanding how to do it?

  • Sequencing ajax requests

    - by Scott Evernden
    I find I sometimes need to iterate some collection and make an ajax call for each element. I want each call to return before moving to the next element so that I don't blast the server with requests - which often leads to other issues. And I don't want to set async to false and freeze the browser. Usually this involves setting up some kind of iterator context that i step thru upon each success callback. I think there must be a cleaner simpler way? Does anyone have a clever design pattern for how to neatly work thru a collection making ajax calls for each item?

  • transition background-image/css change on hover?

    - by John Isaacks
    I have a thumb nail inside another div, when the thumbnail is hovered I want the parent div to fade/transition to the background of the thumbnail, then fade back to the original image after hover. I have this so far which changes the parent background to that of the thumbnail and back but with no transition. $(document).ready(function() { var originalBG; var hoverBG; $(".alt-img").hover( function () { originalBG = $(this).parent().css('backgroundImage'); hoverBG = $(this).css('backgroundImage'); $(this).parent().css('backgroundImage',hoverBG); }, function () { $(this).parent().css('backgroundImage',originalBG); } ); });

  • Option insertion problem in Internet Explorer 7

    - by Mohan Ram
    var spaces="----"; var category_name="category"; var category_text=spaces+category_name; alert(category_text); $('select').append($("<option>").attr({'value' : inserted_id , 'label' : category_name}).text(category_text)); This code includes option to my listbox. The problem in Internet Explorer 7. The option is included, but the expected display is '----category'. But Internet Explorer 7 displays only category in options. Since I am using tree order I need to have hyphens before some category. How can I solve it in Internet Explorer 7?

    <form id="QandA" action="<?php echo htmlentities($action); ?>" method="post"> <table id="question"> <tr> <td colspan="2"> <a onclick="return plusbutton();"> <img src="Images/plussign.jpg" width="30" height="30" alt="Look Up Previous Question" class="plusimage" id="mainPlusbutton" name="plusbuttonrow"/> </a> <span id="plussignmsg">(Click Plus Sign to look up Previous Questions)</span> </td> </tr> </table> </form> In the code above I am able to replace an image with another image when the if statement is met. But my problem is that when the image is replaced, it does not disable the on click event. My question is that when the image is replaced, how do I disable the onclick event onclick="return plusbutton();?

  • How to autosum value on dropdown and radio select

    - by Wilf
    I'm working on an auto calculation form which is a total column will change after a radio and a dropdown is clicked. I can make the total change for both dropdowns but the problem occurs when I tried to add a radio option. Here is my code. HTML Ages 10+: <select id="Adult" name="Adult"> <option selected="selected" value="0">0</option> <option value="1">1</option> <option value="2">2</option> <option value="3">3</option> <option value="4">4</option> <option value="5">5</option> <option value="6">6</option> <option value="7">7</option> <option value="8">8</option> <option value="9">9</option> </select> <br />Ages 3-9: <select id="Child" name="Child"> <option selected="selected" value="0">0</option> <option value="1">1</option> <option value="2">2</option> <option value="3">3</option> <option value="4">4</option> <option value="5">5</option> <option value="6">6</option> <option value="7">7</option> <option value="8">8</option> <option value="9">9</option> </select> <br />Food <input type="radio" name="food" id="food0" value="0" /> <label for="food0">No</label> <input type="radio" name="food" id="food1" value="10" /> <label for="food1">Yes</label> <table width="100%" border="1" align="center"> <tr> <td>Product</td> <td>Ages 10+</td> <td>Ages 3-9</td> <td>Food</td> <td>Price</td> </tr> <tr> <td>2 Day Ticket</td> <td>$235.00</td> <td>$223.00</td> <td><span id="food">0</span> </td> <td>$<span class="amount" id="2DayTotal"></span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>3 Day Ticket</td> <td>$301.00</td> <td>$285.00</td> <td><span id="food">0</span> </td> <td>$<span class="amount" id="3DayTotal"></span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>4 Day Ticket</td> <td>$315.00</td> <td>$298.00</td> <td><span id="food">0</span> </td> <td>$<span class="amount" id="4DayTotal"></span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>5 Day Ticket</td> <td>$328.00</td> <td>$309.00</td> <td><span id="food">0</span> </td> <td>$<span class="amount" id="5DayTotal"></span> </td> </tr> </table> JavaScript var numAdult = 0; var numChild = 0; $("#Adult").change(function () { numAdult = $("#Adult").val(); calcTotals(); }); $("#Child").change(function () { numChild = $("#Child").val(); calcTotals(); }); $('input[type=radio]').change(function(evt) { $('#food').html($(this).val()); }); function calcTotals() { $("#2DayTotal").text(235 * numAdult + 223 * numChild); $("#3DayTotal").text(301 * numAdult + 285 * numChild); $("#4DayTotal").text(315 * numAdult + 298 * numChild); $("#5DayTotal").text(328 * numAdult + 309 * numChild); } The issues are: I'd like the food column change to it's value when a radio is click. It works only the first id. After a radio is clicked. A fumction calcTotals() is called to sum an additional food cost. Demo here : http://jsfiddle.net/4Jegn/178/ Please be advice.

  • Why does setting document.domain require me to set it in all popups and iframes too?

    - by Chris
    I'm using a long-polling iframe solution for a chat script. Unfortunately, this requires me to set document.domain='yourdomain.com' in the iframe and main document, because the iframe is a subdomain call. The huge problem is...now all my other scripts that use popups and iframes are broken. They now require me to put document.domain in them too. It does fix it, but this is not an ideal solution at all. Is there another way around this problem?

  • one click, two 'click' event fired

    - by Toni Michel Caubet
    I just want to toggle some elements when a link is clicked: This is how i am trying (But i don't really think that it matters much for this question what's inside the event function callback): /* mostrar exceso de comentarios a peticion del usuario*/ $('.toggleComments').click(function(){ console.log('.toggleComments'); if($(this).parents('.helpContent').find('.commentHideble:visible').length > 0){ $(this).text('+ <?=get_texto_clave('show_old_comments')?>').removeClass('toggleCommentsActive').append(' ('+$(this).parents('.helpContent').find('.commentHideble:not:visible').length+'+)'); }else{ $(this).text('- <?=get_texto_clave('hide_old_comments')?>').addClass('toggleCommentsActive'); } $(this).parents('.helpContent').find('.commentHideble').slideToggle(100); }); I even tried a boolean but gave me same result /* mostrar exceso de comentarios a peticion del usuario*/ var ctoggle = false; $('.toggleComments').click(function(){ if(ctoggle == false){ ctoggle = true; console.log('.toggleComments'); if($(this).parents('.helpContent').find('.commentHideble:visible').length > 0){ $(this).text('+ <?=get_texto_clave('show_old_comments')?>').removeClass('toggleCommentsActive').append(' ('+$(this).parents('.helpContent').find('.commentHideble:not:visible').length+'+)'); }else{ $(this).text('- <?=get_texto_clave('hide_old_comments')?>').addClass('toggleCommentsActive'); } $(this).parents('.helpContent').find('.commentHideble').slideToggle(100); ctoggle = false; } }); Why the log is being fired twice by click?

It is working in the FF but not in IE and chrome. window.onload = function() { replace('edit-field-region-tid'); replace('edit-tid'); } function replace(id) { var i = 0; var s = document.getElementById(id); for (i; i < s.options.length; i++) { if (find(s.options[i].text, id, i)) { s.options[i].setAttribute("class", "sub_options"); } } } function find(str, id, option_id) { var i; var s = document.getElementById(id); for (i = 0; i < str.length; i++) { if (str.charAt(i) == '-') { s.options[option_id].text = str.cutAt(0, ""); return true; } } return false; } String.prototype.cutAt = function(index, char) { return this.substr(index+1, this.length); } And CSS: .sub_options{ margin-left:20px; text-indent:-2px; } Any ideas thanks!

  • find() or children() to search top-level children only for a style?

    - by user291701
    Hi, I'd like to find if a child element exists which has either of two class styles applied. My code looks like this: var listOfMatchedResults = $("#parentList").find(".myStyle1, .myStyle2"); My styles are defined like this: .parent li, .myStyle0 { } .parent li.myStyle1 { } .parent li.myStyle2 { } I don't need to traverse more than one level deeper than the children level, like: <ul id='parentList'> <li><p>foo</p><p>grok</p></li> <li class='myStyle2'><p>Here</p><p>I am!</p></li> <li><p>foo</p><p>grok</p></li> </ul> I'm not clear as to what find() is doing, is it going into each of the paragraph elements too? I just need it to traverse the top-level children - is there a way to specify that? Thank you
