• LDAP encrypt attribute that extends userpassword

  In my current LDAP schema I have an objectclass (let's call it group) that has 2 attributes that extend userpassword. Like this: attributeType ( groupAttributes:12 NAME 'groupPassword1' SUP userPassword SINGLE-VALUE ) attributeType ( groupAttributes:13 NAME 'groupPassword2' SUP userPassword SINGLE-VALUE ) group extends organisation so already has a userpassword attribute. If I use that to enter a new group using PHPLDAPAdmin it uses SSHA (by default) and encrypts/hashes the password I entered. But the passwords I entered for groupPassword1 en groupPassword2 don't get encrypted. Is there a way to make it so that those attributes are encrypted too?

  I'm looking for a tool like Canonical (system management and monitoring for Ubuntu) that is Open Source and free. The goal is to manage a dozen or so KVM machines for private testing purposes. I know of puppet and munin or RHQ as separate tools to manage and monitor, but I'd prefer something integrated. Any tips? Basic requirements would be: system package management and update (individual selection for each managed node) configuration of basic system services (Users, NFS, cron, ideally also Apache) monitoring (charting of system resources, disk, io, memory, etc) and alerting, ideally a default configuration with sensible values for alerts

• C# Threading Background Process - Programming - How to?

  Hello...I have been given the horrible task of doing this. Launch the website Take a screenshot Fill in the form details, click on Next Take a screenshot ... ... ... Rinse. Repeat. Now, with various combinations, this comes up to 300 screenshots. And I have to do this for 4 different browsers. Chrome, Firefox, IE 6 and IE 7. I cannot use tools which will capture the screenshot and store them, such as, SnagIT. I need to take a screenshot, copy it to a Word Document and take the second screenshot and take it to a Word Document. I thought, I will write a tiny utility which will help me do this. Here is the requirement spec that I put up for it - An executable which once launched seats itself in the System Tray. While it is active, all instances of Key Press (Print Scrn), it should write the contents to a Word Document as defined (either a default path or a user defined one). Save the document periodically. Now, my question is - if I am going to develop this using C# (Winforms application), how do I go about doing this. I can do a fair bit of C# programming and I am willing to learn. But I am not able to locate the references for how to do a background process so that it runs in the background. And while it runs, it has to capture the Print Scrn command. Can you folks point me to the right material where I can learn this? Theoretical references should suffice. But if there are practical references, then nothing like it. Thanks!

• How to use Cambria as basic font when math symbols are needed?

  I first thought one could use Cambria for copy text (in Word), switching to Cambria Math only when needed (when a character is needed that is not present in Cambria). This does not seem to work that well. For example, if I need the minus-or-plus sign “±”, I cannot take it from Cambria, but if I use it from Cambria Math, it has a shape rather different from the style of “±”, “+”, and “–” in the text, if it is written in Cambria. Similarly, the multiplication sign “×” is much larger in Cambria Math than in Cambria. The obvious solution would be to use Cambria Math as copy text font, for uniformity. But Cambria Math lacks italic and bold. (Word’s formula editor uses Cambria Math by default and can do italic and bold, but it gets them from Plane 1 – they are special mathematic italic and mathematic bold characters, not italic and bold glyphs for normal characters.) Is there any better approach than using Cambria Math for copy text and switching to Cambria when italic or bold is needed?

• Add entire 300 GB filesystem to Git Annex repository?

  By default, I get an error that I have too many open files from the process. If I lift the limit manually, I get an error that I'm out of memory. For whatever reason, it seems that Git Annex in its current state is not optimised for this sort of task (adding thousands of files to a repository at once). As a possible solution, my next thought was to do something like: cd / find . -type d | git annex add --$NONRECURSIVELY find . -type f | git annex add # Need to add parent directories of each file first or adding files fails The problem with this solution is that there doesn't seem from the documentation to be a way to non-recursively add a directory in Git Annex. Is there something I'm missing or a workaround for this? If my proposed solution is a dead end, are there other ways that people have solved this problem?

• Superscope DHCP leases and configuration set up

  Hello I wanted to see if someone could help with a network problem I am having. Right now we have a super-scope and scopes of 192.168.50.1 and 192.168.51.1, as of now both are activated but only 192.168.50.1 is handing our leases, 192.168.51 wont. here is a summary of our network Gateway: watchguard firebox x750e for our router/gateway at 192.168.50.1 I set up as a secondary IP address 192.168.51.1 Server: Server 2008 r2 standard, running our DNS @ 192.168.50.242 and 8.8.8.8 as a secondary, AD, and DHCP. On that NIC card i have 192.168.50.242 as the IP address and 192.168.51.242 as a secondary. 192.168.50.1 as the default gateway and 192.168.51.1 as a secondary. Im am not very knowledgeable at this but as far as i have researched after adding a super scope and activating scopes, they should automatically start handing out addresses and I cant figure out why only one does. any help at all would be appreciated.

• Setting up Gitosis, where to create the repos?

  I'm trying to setup Gitosis on CentOS 6.2 but have some doubts/problems about it. I read this docs here, here and here but it's unclear to me where to configure where repositories are created. My server has a partition /data where I create a directory and called /gitrepos. I want all the repos created under that directory. By default if I run the command: gitosis-init < /home/reynierpm/reynierpm.pub I get this Initialized empty Git repository in /root/repositories/gitosis-admin.git/ Reinitialized existing Git repository in /root/repositories/gitosis-admin.git/ And I want this repos created under /data/gitrepos, any help?   I was working on a data view web part recently and i had  to filter the data based on dates.Since the data source was web services i couldn't use  the Offset which i blogged about earlier.When using web services to pull data in sharepoint designer you would have to use xpath.So for example this is the soap that populates the rows<xsl:variable name="Rows" select="/soap:Envelope/soap:Body/ddw1:GetListItemsResponse/ddw1:GetListItemsResult/ddw1:listitems/rs:data/z:row/>But you would need to add some predicate [] and filter the date nodes.So you can do something like this (marked in red)<xsl:variable name="Rows" select="/soap:Envelope/soap:Body/ddw1:GetListItemsResponse/ddw1:GetListItemsResult/ddw1:listitems/rs:data/z:row[ddwrt:FormatDateTime(string(@ows_Created),1033,'yyyyMMdd') &gt;= ddwrt:FormatDateTime(string(substring-after($fd,'#')),1033,'yyyyMMdd')]"/>For the filtering to work you need to have the date formatted  above as yyyyMMdd.One more thing you must have noticed is the $fd variable.This variable is created by me creating a calculated column in the list so something like this [Created]-2So basically that the xpath is doing is get me data only when the Created date  is greater than or equal to the Created date -2 which is 2 date less than the created date.Also not that when using web services in sharepoint designer and try to use the default filtering you won't get to see greater tha or less than in the option list comparison.:(Hope this helps.

After some googling about this on teh internets, it seems to be a feature that some suggest (without reference or explanation) enabling in 'a storage configuration' that makes the drive less sussesptable to EMI. But why? I've got three core questions: Why is this feature not enabled by default? What are the actual benefits? Are there any costs?

• TFS SQL Deployment Data Script

  We are using TFS and SQL 2005 (looking to upgrade to SQL 2012 if that makes a difference). We store our database schema in a Visual Studio Database project (VS 2010). When code is released to live we currently use the Visual Studio Database Project to build a script for all our schema changes. The problem we have been getting is having to alter or add to that script to add/fix data for the deployment. For example if we add a new non-nullable column to an existing table we need to populate that column with data during the insert. Other times we may want to create new records in transactional tables (e.g. assign specific users to a new security access). Do Visual Studio Database Projects have a way to store these scripts that only need to be run once and somehow include them in the build? Does it know which scripts need to be run (for example if we are inserting default data we don't want to do that again a second time)? OR Is there a better way to manage these scripts?

• Permission issue when deleting folders

  I can't delete some folders and some actions are being denied because I do not have administrator access. But in my user account it says i am an administrator. I also just upgraded from Windows Vista 64-bit to Windows 7 64-bit, but I had this problem before upgrading, but now I am being denied more things. I also can't reorder the way files are sorted in folders. I can sort them through the default means, but I literally can't drag and drop them if I want to reorder them. I don't know if this is another problem or if it is related. Let me know if you need more information. Thanks!

• PHP 5 will not work in Centos 6 for me

  Just created a new install of Centos 6.0 64-bit on a virtual machine and running on Vmware workstation 8, windows host. yum install php service httpd restart And when trying to run a html file from the var\www\html dir which just has <?php phpinfo(); ?> in it or pointing browser to localhost. Nothing comes up. Also opened up httpd.conf and added: AddType application/x-httpd-php .php AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps Tried reinstalling, installing php-common, then php etc. to no avail. Otherwise going for the typical LAMP. installed: php.x86_64 5.3.2-6.el6_0.1 @updates php-cli.x86_64 5.3.2-6.el6_0.1 @updates php-common.x86_64 5.3.2-6.el6_0.1 @updates Yet to update to Centos 6.1 PHP5 is probably comes installed by default with Centos and I maybe stuffed it up by running yum install php?

• Isometric Camera trouble - can't rotate or move correctly

  I'm trying to create a 3D editor, but I've been having some trouble with the Camera and understanding each component. I've created 2 camera that works OK, but now I'm trying to implement an Isometric Camera in XNA without success on the rotation and movement of the camera. All I get working is Zoom. (Cube with x=3f, y=3f, z=1f in center) And this is the constructor for my IsometricCamera (inherits from ICamera, with methods for Rotation, Movement and Zoom, and Properties for World/View/Projection matrices) public IsometricCamera3D(GraphicsDevice device, float startClip = -1000f, float endClip = 1000f) { matrix_projection = Matrix.CreateOrthographic(device.Viewport.Width, device.Viewport.Height, startClip, endClip); rotation = Vector3.Zero; matrix_view = Matrix.CreateScale(zoom) * Matrix.CreateRotationY(MathHelper.ToRadians(45 + 180)) * Matrix.CreateRotationX(MathHelper.ToRadians(30)) * Matrix.CreateRotationZ(MathHelper.ToRadians(120)) * Matrix.CreateTranslation(rotation.X, rotation.Y, rotation.Z); } Problem is when I rotate it, all that happens is that the Cube gets more or less shiny and nothing happens. What is wrong and how should I create my View matrix to move it / rotate it correctly? Rotate, Move and Zoom looks like: MethodName(Vector3 rotation/movement), Zoom(float value); and just increases the value, then calls an update to recreate the View Matrix according to the code in the constructor. Currently, in my editor I use MiddleButton + Mouse Movement to rotate the camera, but it's not working as the other camera. But in my default camera I use World Matrix to move, but I guess that's not the best way to go which is why I'm trying this.

• Environment variable for volume names in Windows?

  I'm trying to write a batch file that will look at the volume label of the current drive and report if it's not equivalent to a certain string. Is there a default variable in the shell for this? Can I define one? Am I SOL and I'll actually have to do some (shudder) programming? EDIT: If this is possible in PowerShell that would work fine. (For the curious, we ship our machines with software cloning as a rapid bootable backup solution since most of our customers are daytraders and aren't interested in RAID due to urgency of getting-the-hell-back-to-work-right-away if there's a software corruption problem, and we want to make it immediately obvious if they're booting to the backup drive unintentionally, like say the primary failed entirely. The hope was just to write a simple batch file that would autostart on boot and throw a warning in the event of a problem.)

• How do I start Chrome using a specified "user profile"?

  I use the new built-in "Users" feature of Chrome to switch between Home/Work accounts easily. However, Chrome remembers the "last" user profile you had selected when launching new windows. This is a problem if I close down my "Home" profile last, because when I then click the Email shortcut on my taskbar, because it goes to mail.mycompany.com using my Home profile, and I'm not logged in. I'd like to change the shortcut to the company webmail to pass a switch that tells Chrome to always start as the "Default" user, regardless of the last one used. Note: I have tried user-data-dir, and this seems to do something very different, completely isolated from the Users functionality built in to Chrome. It's possible I'm using it wrong, but please test this before assuming it does the same thing and posting an answer ;-)

• Pendrive not working on USB port - USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 27CC

  I have a situation here, is kind of weird. Situation as below: If i enable the 'Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 27CC' , then my pc will not be able to read any USB stick/pendrive, but usb port work fine with keyboard and mouse. If I disable the device driver, then all kind of pendrive can be read. Below is What i have done : 1) try the same pendrive on other pc, it work like charm. 2) try others pendrive on issue pc, same problem, but it work fine in others pc. 3) try all the port, including the port that connected to mouse n keyboard. 4) update the driver version. 5) restore default setting of usb in bios Please help to solve these issue if anyone experience it before. • Loked out: Windows 8.1 administrator account disabled

  I installed a Windows 8.1 laptop. By default the Administrator account is disabled. During the install process, the user created belongs to the administrators group (call it FirstUser). I installed various softwares, I created a normal account for the user (call it RealUser), and I mistakenly deleted FirstUser account (while I was connected under this account). I rebooted and... oh well, I understood the mistake. I no longer have access to any administrative privileges. The laptop is still in workgroup. I tested with Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor (latest version): activated Administrator account, and blancked its password (no option to set a new one) gave RealUser account administrative privileges After reboot, only RealUser account is still available. Once logged in, I'm unable to access anything requiring administrative provileges. Does anyone know a way to successfully activate the Administrator account, or whatever ?

  I have a working AD/Linux/LDAP/KRB5 directory and authentication setup, with one small problem. When an account is disabled, SSH publickey authentication still allows user login. It's clear that kerberos clients can identify a disabled account, as kinit and kpasswd return "Clients credentials have been revoked" with no further password / interaction. Can PAM be configured (with "UsePAM yes" in sshd_config) to disallow logins for disabled accounts, where authentication is done by publickey? This doesn't seem to work: account [default=bad success=ok user_unknown=ignore] pam_krb5.so Please don't introduce winbind in your answer - we don't use it.

There is no error at all. I have copied a file under /etc/puppet/files/test2.txt my site.pp (/etc/puppet/manifests) contains these lines: node default { include test file { "/tmp/testmaster.txt": owner => root, group => root, mode => 644, source => "puppet:///files/test2.txt" } } but there will no file be created on agent servers under /tmp/ once I run "puppet agent --test" here is the output: [root@agent1 ~]# puppet agent --test Info: Retrieving plugin Info: Caching catalog for agent1.mydomain.com Info: Applying configuration version '1354267916' Finished catalog run in 0.02 seconds "puppet apply /etc/puppet/manifests/site.pp" creates the testmaster.txt under /tmp/ on master.
