• Installing a new SQL Server instance fails

  I've previously in my setup installed SQL Server Express 2005. Now I've switched to SQL Server Express 2008. I updated the command line parameters to those documented for the latter. If the comp already has SQL Server Express 2008 installed, my installer should create a new instance. The command line parameters are as follows: /ACTION=Install /FEATURES=SQLEngine /QS /INSTANCENAME=ABCD /SECURITYMODE=SQL /SAPWD=CunningPassword The requested instance name does not exist on the target machine. This will end in an error -2068643838. The logs show the following error: "No features were installed during the setup execution. The requested features may already be installed." If I remove the /QS parameter and try to install interactively, I'll get as far as the Feature Selection page. The UI shows three options, Instance Features, Shared Features and Redistributable Features. Whatever I select, clicking Next results in the same error (There are validation errors on this page).   I am getting the following error: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.DynamicData, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. I've researched the problem and some of the solutions are pointing to Turning on Assembly Binding Logging. I'm confused as to what this error is. So my question: *What does this error mean and how do I resolve it? I am not hosting the site in a shared hosting scenario, it is on a single server running .NET Framework 3.5.0 using IIS 6.0 Edit .Net Framework 3.5 SP 1 isn't installed on the server. The missing assemblies are apart of that Service Pack.

• How to find missing web part ?

  Does anybody know how to find offending web part which causes this error ? “A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Web Part Page cannot be displayed or imported because it is not registered on this site as safe.” I have inherited an old SharePoint 2003 portal site which uses custom web parts. I know what this error means. I also know that each web part must be installed and registred as safe in web.config. The problem is that I don't know which one is missing. I get same error when I'm trying to open the page in FrontPage as well.

  Just moved to Grails 1.2.1 (used 1.1.1 before). Changed application.properties, ran grails upgrade, fixed BuildConfig and Bootstrap - everything works just fine from grails console.   I have been using Netbeans for my java desktop application since few months. Now in the middle of the project, I want to switch over to Eclipse as the Netbeans once corrupted my GUI and I had to re-create several parts of the GUI and now it is displaying a compiler error as code too large private void initComponents() { 1 error "code too large" is a strange error. My code which it is saying too large is just 10,000 lines long. I came to know first time that we couldn't develop long code in Netbeans :) So instead of going into detail, I want to switch to Eclipse. I have never used it before. So could please tell me how to import my incompleted Netbeans project into eclipse.

• Connecting to Python XML RPC from the Mac

  Hi, I wrote an XML RPC server in python and a simple Test Client for it in python. The Server runs on a linux box. I tested it by running the python client on the same linux machine and it works. I then tried to run the python client on a Mac and i get the following error socket.error: (61, 'Connection Refused') I can ping and ssh into the linux machine from the Mac. So i dont think its a configuration or firewall error. Does anyone have any idea what could be going wrong?   Hello. I'm trying to compile some WiFi drivers I downloaded from SerialMonkey: http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Downloads It's about a driver for a Ralink rt73 chipset. I already got the build-essentials and the kernel-headers on my computer. • ubuntu 10.04 logs itself out overnight

  Every night when I leave work, I lock the screen via ubuntu's "power" button in the top right hand panel. When I come to work in the morning, I'm greeted with the log-in screen. • Why does Perl complain about "Unsuccessful stat on filename containing newline"?

  Hello, I am getting an error I do not understand. I am using File:Find to recurse a fylesystem on Windows using Activestate Perl 5.8.8 and trying to stat $File::Find::name; so I am not stat-ing a filename got from a text file scanning requiring chomp-ing or newline removing. I was unable to get file modification time, the mtime in: my ($dev,$ino,$mode,$nlink,$uid,$gid,$rdev,$size,$atime,$mtime,$ctime,$blksize,$blocks) = stat($File::Find::name); so trying a -s $File::Find::name gives me the error: Unsuccessful stat on filename containing newline A typical file name found is F01-01-10 Num 0-00000.pdf but I get the same error even renaming in E02.pdf

  Hi All, I am working on upgrading a web app to asp.net 2 from 1. VS 2008 did its conversion things, and everything is building successfully and has been converted to a web application via the appropriate menu item in VS 2008. On launching the site using the Asp.net development server I am receiving a configuration error on the appsettings line in the machine config of Unrecognized attribute 'restartOnExternalChanges'. The app targets asp.net 2 in the projects properties in VS, and the error page indicates similar : Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.3053; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.3053 The error message seems to indicate I am trying to run this in an asp.net 1 environment, but surely that isnt the case, and if so how do I rectify this.   Hi guys, I'm trying to install feedzirra. When i install curb on my netbeans i get following errors. Building native extensions. This could take a while... ERROR: Error installing curb-0.7.6.gem: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.   I'm facing a problem which to ftp files using ftp client (Filezilla), since it always prompt me Error: Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing, but when I tried ftp using command line, it works fine form me.... does anyone have idea ?

  Hi, I have a database working in mu local sql server 2005 express edition. I have to import my local dtabase to a remote servr database. For that i established connection to that remote server, and i can now see that database . but when i tried to restore database fro my local machine i'm getting an error message when i tried to give backup file location. Below is the error message The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'xp_availablemedia', database 'mssqlsystemresource', schema 'sys'. The user does not have permission to perform this action. The statement has been terminated. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 229) waht is the problem, how can i solve this. Please help me

• Add Mirror for volumes other than the last one in Windows 7 (disk "not up-to-date")

  I'm using Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. I have an existing 4TB disk with 3 NTFS volumes, a new 3TB blank disk, and I'm trying to mirror the volumes onto the new disk. My Windows install is on an SSD which is Disk 0. The 4TB disk with volumes is Disk 1, and the new blank disk is Disk 2. I can add a mirror successfully for the last volume, but when I try to add a mirror for the first volume I immediately get errors (see below). Is there something I special I need to do to add a mirror for a volume other than the last one? More info: I opened Disk Management, right-clicked on the first volume on the existing disk, went to Add Mirror, and selected the new disk. The first time I did this I was prompted to convert the new disk to a Dynamic Disk, which I approved. Subsequently I got a message: The operation failed to complete because the Disk Management console view is not up-to-date. Refresh the view by using the refresh task. If the problem persists close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer. I've refreshed disk management, restarted the computer, and converted the new disk to basic and back to dynamic, but I still get that error message. Looking around for suggestions of a workaround, I saw a suggestion to use the diskpart command line tool. Running diskpart from the Start Menu as Administrator, I did select volume 2 (the first volume I want to mirror) and then add disk 2 (the new disk), and received a somewhat similar error: Virtual Disk Service error: The disk's extent information is corrupted. DiskPart has referenced an object which is not up-to-date. Refresh the object by using the RESCAN command. If the problem persists exit DiskPart, then restart DiskPart or restart the computer. A rescan appears to be successful: DISKPART> select disk 2 Disk 2 is now the selected disk. DISKPART> rescan Please wait while DiskPart scans your configuration... DiskPart has finished scanning your configuration. but attempting to add the mirror again resulted in the same error. The only similar report I found online was this: http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/335780-unable-mirror-all-but-last-partition-drive.html Based on that I attempted to mirror the last volume on the disk to the new disk using diskpart, and that started successfully -- it is currently resynchronizing. More Background: In the course of dealing with a failing 3TB hard drive, I bought a replacement 4TB drive and installed it, then copied the partitions from the failing drive to it using Minitool Partition Wizard Home, and then removed the failing drive and was up and running again normally. Now I've received a warranty replacement for the failing drive, and installed it, and now I'm attempting to mirror my partitions to it.

• C# Application crashes with Buffer Overrun in deployed (.exe) version, but not in Visual Studio

  Hi, I have a c# Windows Forms application that runs perfectly from within Visual Studio, but crashes when its deployed and run from the .exe. It crashes with a Buffer Overrun error...and its pretty clear that this error is not being thrown from within my code. Instead, windows must be detecting some sort of buffer overrun and shutting down the application from the outside. I don't think there's one specific line of code that is causing it..it simply happens intermittently. Does anybody have any thoughts on what the possible causes of a Buffer Overrun error might be, and why it would only occur in the deployed application and not when run from with Visual Studio? • Tons Of rpc.idmapd errors in syslog

  I am growing weary of some error messages in my syslog - its showing: Jul 3 15:16:38 web rpc.idmapd[14535]: nss_getpwnam: name 'nobody' does not map into domain 'mydomain.com' I have check, my hostname is correct as mydomain.com and I even added a valid entry in /etc/hostname . I have edited my /etc/idmapd.conf to reflect this domain name, this error message log every 10minutes and its becoming frustrating, I do not know why or whats causing it, the nfs server is working ok, with correct entries and now message in the log. I am using centos6 -- Ofcoure, i have substituted mydomain.com with my real domain
