• Adding an attachment to a .NET Email

  How do I attach a file with a very unfriendly name (like a file with a session Id number in it) but have it attached as another name?The file has the session ID in it to avoid clashes name on the web server nut when I attach it to the file, a friendlier name is preferable. Is there a way to attach the file with teh unfriendly name as anotehr name so that when the user gets the email he can tell from the name what the content of the file is? I'd hate to have to create a unique folder just to put a common file name in it for the purpose of simply attaching it to an email. • Which collection interface should I use in .NET for COM-interop?

  That is a followup from my previous question, but you don't need to read it to understand that one. I'm designing an interface in .NET that would be consumed from COM applications (mainly VB6, but Visual C++ 6 is also a possibility) and I would like to use Collection types as argument and return types for the methods in the interface. Questions: What happens to the VB6 built-in collection types (arrays, collections, dictionaries) when they go through interop? My current guess is that: arrays - System.Array collections - Microsoft.VisualBasic.Collection dictionaries - System.Collections.Hashtable Is that correct? Which interfaces should I use as return types? IEnumerable, ICollection, IList, IDictionary? Would I be able to do a For Each in VB6 to iterate over these interfaces? Should I use the generic or non-generic variants of the interfaces?

• Ubuntu Server mdadm drbd ocfs2 kvm hangs under heavy file reading

  I have deployed four ubuntu 10.04 server. They are coupled two by two in a cluster scenario. on both sides we have software raid1 disks, drbd8 and OCFS2 and on top of it some kvm machines run with qcow2 disks. I followed this: Link corosync is just used for DRBD and OCFS, the kvm machines are run "manually" When it works is fine: good performances, good I/O, but at a given time one of the two cluster started hanging. Then we tried with just one server turned on and it hangs the same. It seems to happen when an heavy READ in one of the virtual machines occurs, that is during rsyn backup. When the fact occurs the virtual machines are not reachable any more and the real server responds with good delay to the ping but no screen and no ssh is available. All we can do is force shutdown (hold the button) and restart and when it turns on again the raid on which relay drbd is resyncing. All the time it hangs we see such fact. After a couple of week of pain on one side this morning also the other cluster hung, but it has different moteherboard, ram, kvm instances. What is similar is reading for rsync scenario and Western Digital RAID Edistion disks on both side. Can anybody give me some input to solve such issue?

  Hi, Whenever I add the rostertree control to my form, I can see that the PresenceManager and RosterManager property values for it have this error listed: "Unable to cast object of type 'System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewTextBoxColumn' to type 'System.ComponentModel.Component'." I can compile the solution and all but this error keeps popping up randomly. Can someone advice when this may happen. I'm thinking it has to do with the controls not being added properly. I'm using Visual Studio 2008. Thanks.

If you keep the mouse pressed for a period of time and then release it, the eventhandler still executes with the previous values which were fired. How do we prevent this scenario from occurring? I would like to discard the remaining events which are still in the queue, waiting to be handled, when the user releases the mouse button.

  I'm working on a C# windows program with Visual Studio 2008. Usually, I work from school, directly on my usb drive. But when I copy the folder on my hard drive at home, an sql exception is unhandled whenever I try to write to the database. it is unhandled at the conn.Open(); line. here's the exception unhandled Database 'L:\system\project\the_project\the_project\bin\Debug\PatientMonitoringDatabase.mdf' already exists. Choose a different database name.   I have an application that uses plugins that are managed via an interface I then dynamically load the plugin classes and cast them to the interface to work with them. I have the following line of code, assume that IPlugin is my interface. IPlugin _plugin = (IPlugin)Activator.CreateInstance(oInfo.Assembly, oInfo.FullyQualifiedName) This should be pretty simple, create the instance and cast it to the interface. I know that the assembly and fully qualified name values are correct, but I am getting the following exception. Exception= System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type ‘System.Runtime.Remoting.ObjectHandle’ to type ‘MyNamespace.Components.Integration.IPlugin’. at MyNamespace.Components.Integration.PluginProxy..ctor(Int32 instanceId) Any ideas what could cause this?

• Non-existent file in limbo prevents push to remote branch (Bazaar VCS)

  Hi! I use Bazaar VCS to version files locally on my notebook. When im in the office I merge the changes to a repository on a windows share and also push all the files there (for backup reasons). My Problem: The last push resulted in an error, because I added a file with a very long filename (I had that problem before ... python doesn't like long filenames). So I removed the file (I didn't need it anyway) and forgot about the problem for a while, because commiting still worked fine. The next time I wanted to push my new revision I got a new error: bzr: ERROR: [Error 3] Das System kann den angegebenen Pfad nicht finden: u'//path/to/remote/branch/.bzr/checkout/limbo/new-8/loooooooongfilename.xls' translation: bzr: ERROR: [Error 3] The system can't find the following path: What I've tried: Deleting the limbo folder-- limbo folder doesn't exist Create the missing path with a dummy-file -- bazaar locks the branch -- unlock -- same problem as before bzr check -- Everything is fine -- No success bzr reconcile -- No success Thanks for reading ;o)

This works great unless there are nulls in the dataset. I tried to compensate for the nulls, but the RDLC file generates an error message that it can't display the subreport. • Outlook 2003 Add-In Setup Project with COM DLL Deployment Problem

  Hi, I developed an Outlook 2003 add-in which uses the com dll redemption. I created a visual studio 2008 setup project, added a custom action to run "caspol.exe -machine -addgroup 1 -strong -hex [key] -noname -noversion FullTrust -n \"Name\" -description \"desc\" and moved the registry keys under software to HKLM as described in http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc136646.aspx#AutoDeployVSTOse_InstallingtheAddinforAllUsers to ensure all-users compatibility. I included the redemption.dll in the setup with vsdrfCOMSelfReg (vsdrfCOM throwed an error). My problem is: When installing the setup on a test machine under an admin account, it runs fine under all users, however when we use the company wide software deployment which runs under a system account the setup executes but the add-in wont load. If I repair the installation with an admin account again it loads just fine. Shouldn't a system account have the required permissions to install all of the components? What options do I have? • Using a FormattedText object, how do I find out how much of my text was actually displayed?

I need to know how much was displayed so I can display the rest later! I can easily measure an amount of text, but it seems silly to do a search by rendering and re-rendering my text over and over until I find the piece that fits exactly. Thanks!

• Visual studio asp.net code behind file not showing errors

  Hi, I am developing a web application in which I am suddenly facing an issue. I have a webpage which contains many controls, one of the control is JQuery color picker. Now, I am upgrading my system with telerik controls. As part of this process, I replaced textbox(txtcolor) with radcolorpicker with a different id(colorPicker). Suddenly, my code behind file is not throwing any errors like 'unable to find txtColor'. It is running successfully without build errors. But, when I open the page, system is throwing runtime exception(txtColor not found) which is correct. I tried to change other controls with asp.net controls, still the problem persists. So, I dont think it is anything to do with telerik. Could you please let me know how can fix this issue?? Thanks, Mahesh

  I would like intercept print instruction from POS sytems, capture the text content(as I need to use this) and send it to the printer. And would also like to use a program with OPOS standards, so that it will work with all kinds of POS system. I looked into MS POS .Net and and samples from MONORECS and still not clear on how to accomplish this. • Reusing xalan transformer causing its extension functions break

  I am using xalan 2.7.1 to validate my xml docs with xslt style sheet. It works fine for the first document and returns error message in case of error along with correct line and column number of xml source by making use of NodeInfo.lineNumber and NodeInfo.columnNumber extensions. The problem is when I try to reuse transformer to validate other xml docs, it successfully transforms the document but always returns lineNumber=columnNumber=-1 for all errors. Any idea? Scenario 1: Price changes in a time period EffectiveDate ExpiryDate Price 2009-01-01 2009-01-31 800$ 2009-02-01 Null 900$ So, if the price changes to 910$ on 2009-02-15, then the system should automatically update the expiry date on the previous effective price to 2009-02-14, to keep it consistent. Scenario 2: No price specified between 2009-02-01 to 2009-02-28 EffectiveDate ExpiryDate Price 2009-01-01 2009-01-31 800$ 2009-03-01 Null 900$ So, if new price is specified for 2009-02-15 onwards , then the system should automatically set the expiry date on the record to be inserted to 2009-02-28, because already a record effective from 2009-03-01 exists. Please suggest an effective way to handle these scenarios to model my framework, or are there any frameworks around that can do this . Thanks

  I'm just trying to convert some C code over to Java and I'm having a little trouble with String.printf. In C, to get a specific width based on a variable, I can use: printf("Current index = %*d\n", sz, index); and it will format the integer to be a specific size based on sz. Trying: System.out.println(String.format("Current index = %*d\n", sz, index)); results in an error since it doesn't like the *. I currently have the following kludge: System.out.println(String.format("Current index = %" + sz + "d\n", index)); but I'm hoping there's a slightly better way, yes?
