• MPMoviePlayerContentPreloadDidFinishNotification does not fire [iPhone]

  I'm running into a problem with the MPMoviePlayerContentPreloadDidFinishNotification notification. I've regisered to recieve the MPMoviePlayerContentPreloadDidFinishNotification notification and MPMoviePlayerPlaybackDidFinishNotification but the first one never fires. Is this bug in Firmware OS 3.0 ? maybe fixed in 3.1 ? or ? Because my divice and similator is 3.0 maybe this is a bug ? My code : ...   Hey, I am getting intermittent issues with my site. Pages often hang with huge loading times and sometimes fail to load. • - (void)keyboardWasShown not called when switching to another UITextField

  I'm having a strange problem that I don't understand. I have a UIScrollView with several UITextField objects. When I switch to the view, I set the first UITextField as firstresponder, and the keyboardWasShown method gets called due to the UIKeyboardDidShowNotification that the view is registered for. The weird thing is, when I touch the next UITextField, the keyboardWasShown method is not called. I don't understand this, since Apple's documentation says "If your interface has multiple text fields, the user can tap between them to edit the values in each one. When that happens, however, the keyboard does not disappear but the system does still generate UIKeyboardDidShowNotification notifications each time editing begins in a new text field." My code I've copied directly from Apple's documentation as well, and it works properly, but it only gets called the first time. • tool to remove repeated css selectors

  I have 3 stylesheets that I have copied and pasted all into 1. As such, there are identical/repeated selectors. Is there an effective tool I can use to remove all repeated selectors if the style properties are identical? Another requirement is if the repeated selector exists once within a group of selectors and once as a standalone selector... the program will remove the selector AND properties of the standalone only (not delete the properties of the selector in a group). I have no clue if this is possible, but have just spent a few hours looking for one with no avail. Anyone know of anything close? Thanks in advance!

  I am trying to configure a startup script which will startup tomcat, monitor the catalina.out for the string "Server startup", and then run another process. I have been trying various combinations of tail -f with grep and awk, but haven't got anything working yet. The main issue I am having seems to be with forcing the tail to die after grep or awk have matched the string. I have simplified to the following test case. test.sh is listed below: #!/bin/sh rm -f child.out ./child.sh > child.out & tail -f child.out | grep -q B child.sh is listed below: #!/bin/sh echo A sleep 20 echo B echo C sleep 40 echo D The behavior I am seeing is that grep exits after 20 seconds , however the tail will take a further 40 seconds to die. I understand why this is happening - tail will only notice that the pipe is gone when it writes to it which only happens when data gets appended to the file. This is compounded by the fact that tail is to be buffering the data and outputting the B and C characters as a single write (I confirmed this by strace). I have attempted to fix that with solutions I found elsewhere, such as using unbuffer command, but that didn't help. Anybody got any ideas for how to get this working how I expect it? Or ideas for waiting for successful Tomcat start (thinking about waiting for a TCP port to know it has started, but suspect that will become more complex that what I am trying to do now). I have managed to get it working with awk doing a "killall tail" on match, but I am not happy with that solution. Note I am trying to get this to work on RHEL4.

• Facebook API friends_get is extremely slow

  I have a PHP application running in iFrame mode. I am rendering an <fb:multi-friend-selector condensed="true"> inside of <fb:serverfbml> tags. This is inside a PHP file that calls a function that gets a list of user IDs using $facebook->api_client->friends_get();. The multi-friend selector renders just fine, but, when I leave the friend_get() call uncommented, the page takes between 15-20 seconds to load (confirmed with Firebug)! The goal is to limit the number of users displayed in the selector by building a list of user ids not to display, for use in the friend selector's exclude_ids parameter. And since it's "exclude_ids" and not "include_ids", I can't think of a way of getting around this api call. It seems to me there must be something I can do to make the api call faster, because I've seen friend selectors that load much more quickly.

  Hey there, I'm running into an apache mod_rewrite configuration issue on one of our machines. Has anyone encountered / overcome anyone of these issues. URL1 ( http://www.uppereast.com ) is not being redirected to URL2 ( http://www.nyclocalliving.com ). This definitely worked in my test environment where a localhost address was rewritten to URL2 ( RewriteRule ^http://upe.localhost$ http://www.nyclocalliving.com ). I'm trying to get the all of the redirect rules working ( 2200 + ), but the 'http://www.nyclocalliving.com' site encounters a server error if I use more that 1000 or more rules. • jQuery: Checking for length of ul and removing an li element?

  I am trying to remove the last <li> element from a <ul> element only if it exceeds a particular length. For this, I am doing something like this: var selector = "#ulelement" if($(selector).children().length > threshold) { $(selector + " >:last").remove(); } I don't like the fact that I have to use the selector twice. Is there a shorter way to do this? Something like a "remove-if-length-greater-than-threshold" idea. I was thinking that maybe there is a way to do this using the live() function but I have no idea how.

• Cygwin won't start Gitk

  Hey I have followed this answer to solve problem with running GUI applications under Cygwin. So far it seems okay, but when I try to open gitk it will complain on that it cannot find any git repository here. I am standing in the correct folder though, and running git from console it works (I can push, pull, and so on) But gitk won't start as it say it is not any git repository here. Anyone know how to fix it? GCD is a 4th option when it's released for the iPhone, but unless there's a significant performance gain, I'd rather stick with methods that work in most platforms.

• Apache2 Segmentation fault with wsgi_module

  Apache 2.2.3 is running as an existing web server under RHEL 5. Attempting to set up Trac using wsgi_module. RHEL 5 ships with python 2.4, so in order to use the current version of Trac (1.0) I needed to install it with easy_install-2.6. Trac works with the default mod_python, however users strongly encourage not using this module as it is officially dead. Using RHEL's package manager, I downloaded/installed python26-mod_wsgi.so. I backed up the httpd.conf, then made the following additions: LoadModule wsgi_module modules/python26-mod_wsgi.so #...# WSGIScriptAlias /trac /www/virtualhosts/trac/deploy/cgi-bin/trac.wsgi <Directory /www/virtualhosts/trac/deploy/cgi-bin> WSGIApplicationGroup %{GLOBAL} Order deny,allow Allow from all </Directory> Next I moved trac.conf to trac.conf.bak (contains mod_python calls). I tested the configuration using: apachectl configtest Syntax is OK. So I reloaded the server config using: service httpd reload At this time, all virtualhosted sites stopped responding. I restored my backup copy of httpd.conf, reloaded the server config, and the virtualhosted sites are being served again.   This is our scenario: Our DNS is hosted by a company. They don't manage the DNS. We use Zoneedit (www.zoneedit.com) to manage the DNS such as nameservers, CNAMEs, etc... Then we have our web host where we just have our files hosted. We have a subdomain created on zoneedit. We would like to do a URL rewrite so that subdomain.ourdomain.com is displayed as www.ourdomain.com/subdomain. Do I use Zoneedit to do the URL rewrite or the web host or the DNS host? I checked the Zoneedit docs but I could not find a way to do a URL rewrite. Need some advice. Thanks

• JavaScript: How to get text from all descendents of an element, disregarding scripts?

  My current project involves gathering text content from an element and all of its descendents, based on a provided selector. For example, when supplied the selector #content and run against this HTML: <div id="content"> <p>This is some text.</p> <script type="text/javascript"> var test = true; </script> <p>This is some more text.</p> </div> my script would return (after a little whitespace cleanup): This is some text. var test = true; This is some more text. However, I need to disregard text nodes that occur within <script> elements. This is an excerpt of my current code: // get text content of all matching elements for (x = 0; x < selectors.length; x++) { matches = Sizzle(selectors[x], document); for (y = 0; y < matches.length; y++) { match = matches[y]; if (match.innerText) { // IE content += match.innerText + ' '; } else if (match.textContent) { // other browsers content += match.textContent + ' '; } } } It's a bit overly simplistic in that it just returns all text nodes within the element (and its descendants) that matches the provided selector. The solution I'm looking for would return all text nodes except for those that fall within script elements. It doesn't need to be especially high-performance, but I do need it to ultimately be cross-browser compatible. I'm assuming that I'll need to somehow loop through all children of the element that matches the selector and accumulate all text nodes other than ones within <script> elements; it doesn't look like there's any way to identify JavaScript once it's already rolled into the string accumulated from all of the text nodes. I can't use jQuery (for performance/bandwidth reasons), although you may have noticed that I do use its Sizzle selector engine, so jQuery's selector logic is available. • Extracting the layer transparency into an editable layer mask in Photoshop

  Is there any simple way to extract the "baked in" transparency in a layer and turn it into a layer mask in Photoshop? To take a simple example: Let's say that I paint a few strokes with a semi-transparent brush, or paste in a .png-file with an alpha channel. The rgb color values and the alpha value for each pixel are now all contained in the layer-image itself. I would like to be able to edit the alpha values as a layer mask, so that the layer image is solid and contains only the RGB values for each pixel. Is this possible, and in that case how? Thanks. EDIT: To clarify - I'm not really after the transparency values in themselves, but in the separation of rgb values and alpha values. That means that the layer must become a solid, opaque image with a mask.

• PLCameraController is not adding in viewcontroller

  Hi, I've declared PLCameraContoller instance in my AppDelegate class as:- self.cameraController = [PLCameraController performSelector:@selector(sharedInstance)];[cameraController setDelegate:self]; And I'm accessing it in one of my viewcontroller class as:- del = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; UIView previewView = [del.cameraController performSelector:@selector(previewView)]; previewView.frame = CGRectMake(0,0, 320, 480); self.view = previewView; [del.cameraController performSelector:@selector(startPreview)]; [del.cameraController performSelector:@selector(setCameraMode:) withObject:(NSNumber)1]; Where "del" is an instance of my AppDelegate class. But i can see only black background in my viewcontroller view in iphone device. Also if i remove "self" from the appdelegate.m code of cameracontroller it also showing blank. How can i get camera in my view controller? I'm pretty much struggling with it. Thanks in Adv.

• jQuery bind efficiency

  I'm having issue with load speed using multiple jQuery binds on a couple thousands elements and inputs, is there a more efficient way of doing this? The site has the ability to switch between product lists via ajax calls, the page cannot refresh. Some lists have 10 items, some 100, some over 2000. The issue of speed arises when I start flipping between the lists; each time the 2000+ item list is loaded the system drags for about 10 seconds. Before I rebuild the list I am setting the target element's html to '', and unbinding the two bindings below. I'm sure it has something to do with all the parent, next, and child calls I am doing in the callbacks. • jQuery detect visible but hidden elements

  This seems like it should be fairly easy - but I can't find the right selector for it According to the docs (http://api.jquery.com/hidden-selector/ and http://api.jquery.com/visible-selector/)... Elements can be considered hidden for several reasons: An ancestor element is hidden, so the element is not shown on the page. What I want to detect is "this element is visible, but is contained in a hidden parent". Ie, if I made the parent visible, this element would also be visible.
