  • Ubuntu + Wacom Intuos 4 + MyPaint HELP!

    Please keep in mind I'm not that computer savvy, but I will try any suggestion so please help me out! My tablet will stop working if the USB connection is ever broken, or the Ubuntu software is being updated. Sometimes it will stop working for no reason that I can see. The lights will still be on, but it won't be responsive. It doesn't work again until I restart the laptop with the tablet plugged in, which is grating if you have to do it every 25 min. or so... I'm not sure if the issue is with the port, the tablet/cable or the driver but any suggestions would be very welcome! Also, MyPaint is frequently having hiccups. It seems to save fine but at times it will randomly close down and when I open files they're often empty. They turn into 0Kb files and only contain a single empty layer. Also very grating, considering I lose days of work for no clear reason and without any heads up. Again, I'm not sure if the issue is with the port, the tablet/cable or the driver but any suggestions would be very welcome!   • Project compilation requires a class that is not used anywhere

    When I build with ant my project that uses libgdx, I get a strange error. It says that a class com.google.gwt.dom.client.ImageElement is not found, but it isn't used at all in the code. How can I find what makes this class necessary? Even searching over the whole project doesn't give any results. It says that error is at PixmapTextureAtlas.java:16 (class source), but there is no code that uses that ImageElement class. Adding the library containing com.google.gwt.dom.client.ImageElement class helps, of course, but I'd like to figure out why this class in needed.   • About lifecycle of activities

    In my application I have several activities, the main screen has 4 buttons that each start a different activity. So one of them is a search activity, once it searches it shows you a result activity. This result activity can be reached from other activities, so in general something like this: Main activity -> Search activity -> Result activity Main acitivty -> someother activity -> Result activity Now, if I have reached this result activity and press back once or twice, and after that press the Home key it will show the Home screen. But if I want to get back to my application by holding the Home button and clicking on my app it will always go back to the Result activity, no matter which activity was the last one I was using. And if I press again back it will take me back to the Home screen. If I try it again it will take me again to the Result activity. The only way to avoid this is to start the application by clicking on the app's icon. And this takes me to the last activity I was using and it remembers the state so if I press back again it doesn't take me to the Home screen, instead to the activity before it. To illustrate this: Main activity -> Search activity -> result activity --back--> Search activity --Home Button--> Home Screen --Hold Home and select the app --> Result activity --back--> Home Screen --Click application icon--> Search activity --back--> Main activity Another thing that happens is that if I press the Home button while on the Result activity, and start the app by clicking the icon, it will take me to the activity prior the the Result one. Why is this happening? Any workarounds?

  • How do I stop Python install on Mac OS X from putting things in my home directory?

(OS X 10.6.2, Python-2.6.5.tar.bz2) I've done this before and it was easy, but for some reason, this time after ./configure, and make, the sudo make install puts things some things in my home directory instead of in /usr/local/... where I expect. The .py files are okay, but not the .so files...   • Looped jQuery slideshow with smooth cross-fades

    I'm trying to do a simple rotating image on the home page. Under the hood I'm reading a directory and then populating urls for the images into an array. What I want to do is cross-fade the images. If it was just a matter of showing the next one, it's easy, but since I need to cross-fade, it's a bit harder. I think what I want to do is do the fades by calling animate() on the opacity value of the <img> tag, and in between swapping out the css background-image property of the enclosing <div>. But the results are not that great. I've used tools for more full featured slideshows, but I don't want the overhead of adding a plugin if I can avoid it, and a simple crossfade seems like it should be easier.   • Install proprietary drivers 14.04 NVIDIA (steam segmentation issue)

    Recently, I finally got the official drivers for my NVIDIA 560 Ti card installed on Ubuntu 14.04 (hooray) However I started looking into installing Steam and I'm getting segmentation errors when I try to run the software. I tried installing 32-bit libs and it seemed like they weren't available or they were already installed. Upon further investigation, I found that a solution is to install the proprietary drivers, install steam then switch back to the other drivers. I'm not really sure what "proprietary drivers" are in all honesty. Has anyone gone through this process that could provide some insight here? (I installed the official 64-bit driver from the NVIDIA site for my 560 Ti just for reference. And the Ubuntu version installed is 64-bit as well) Update: This is the error text I get when trying to run steam after installing it via the ubuntu store.     By reading some tutorials online I used these commands: Make a local group: net localgroup CopsshUsers /ADD Deny access to this group at top level: cacls c:\ /c /e /t /d CopsshUsers Open access to the copSSH installation directory: cacls copssh-inst-dir /c /e /t /r CopsshUsers Add Copssh user to the group above: net localgroup CopsshUsers mysshuser /add simply put these commands will try to create a usergroup that has no permission on your computer and it only have access to the copSSH Installation directory. This is not true, since you cannot change the permission on your windows directory, the third command won't remove access to windows folder (it says access denied on his log). Somehow I achieved that by taking ownership of Windows folder and then i execute the third command so CopsshUsers has no permissions on windows folder from now on. Now i tried to SSH to the server and it simply can't login! this is kind of funny because with permission on windows directory you can login and without it you can't!! So if you CAN SSH to the server somehow you know that you have access to the windows directory! (Is this really true??) Simple task: Limiting ssh user account only to access his home directory on WINDOWS and nothing else! Guys please help!

    We have a NFS server provide home directory for many account, which provided by a NIS server. I have account A and B. In /home/A, I try to copy "cp -a /home/B/somedir ~/". Then I found in /home/A/somedir, all files are owned by user A. Then if I do "chown -R B:B somedir", I got "Operation not permitted" error. I am user A, "cp -a" didn't preserve the original user (B). Then I cannot chown my own files. Any suggestion? I fix my own issue by "chmod 777 /home/A", "su - B" and "cp -a somedir /home/A/", and "su - A", then "chmod 755 /home/A". But it is not a good solution.

The touch still works but the widget is not displayed as focused. Any idea what I do wrong?

  • Home based business would like customers to schedule via website the time, day and date they want to take a class.

    I'm using google blogger. I want to ad thumbnail images of different classes I will be offering in my home film/video/sound/lighting studio. The idea is the prospective student visits my website, sees a class they want to take, clicks the thumbnail so first read a descriptive article about the class, at which point they can schedule the class for the time, day, and date of their choosing between the hours of 5am to 9pm, 365 days a year. As soon as the student has inputed the time, day and date of the class they want, they would go to a check out page to purchase the class time. The student would then be sent an email confirmation along with the exact location, the class name, and the time and date they selected. I was thinking of using Dwolla for the check out page because Dwolla offers either no fee or 25 cents per payment transaction, but I'm not sure I can hook up to them easily enough. My blog site is not finished by a longshot. I still have to actually input all of the class thumbnail images along with descriptions, but if you need to see what the page looks like the web address is http://www.myalexlogic.com Google blogger allows for third party code to be added within movable gadgets.
