• UnicodeDecodeError when redirecting to file

  Hi, I run this snippet twice, in the ubuntu terminal, (encoding set to utf-8) once with ./test.py and then with ./test.py >out.txt: uni = u"\u001A\u0BC3\u1451\U0001D10C" print uni Without redirection it prints garbage. With redirection I get a UnicodeDecodeError. Can someone explain why I get the error only in the second case, or even better give a detailed explanation of what's going on behind the curtain in both cases?

• Django's local web server works, but not apaches

But when I try to visit that project through apache, it fails.   I want to write an emacs function that does the following - 1) Start a new shell named "abc". 2) Change the dir "/opt/abc" 3) In the dir run a shell command "python abc.py" I have written the following fucntion - (defun abc-server () (interactive) (shell-command "cd /opt/abc/") (shell-command "python abc.py")) The problem with the above - 1) It doesnt start a new shell 2) It doesnt change the dir. 3) When the cmd executes, it opens a browser window, which completely blocks any usage of emacs.

  Much like Java (or php), I'm use to seperating the classes to files. Is it the same deal in Python? plus, how should I name the file? Lowercase like classname.py or the same like ClassName.py? Do I need to do something special if I want to create an object from this class or does the fact that it's in the same "project" (netbeans) makes it ok to create an object from it?

And if I kill cmd, the child dies too- no "yeah.txt" is created. How do I make ensure the child continues to run even if parent is killed and also that the parent doesn't wait for child process to end?

  i've written a program in Jython 2.5.1 which works fine on my Windows 7 machine, but on a japanese machine it throws an Exception saying "unknown encoding 'ms932'" i found that codecs.java is the only module printing the unknown encoding 'xyz' message this file loads aliases.py which does contain # cp932 codec '932' : 'cp932', 'ms932' : 'cp932', 'mskanji' : 'cp932', 'ms_kanji' : 'cp932', The file cp932.py contains import _codecs_jp, codecs But.. _codecs_jp does not exist as is also discussed in this page Does anyone have a clue where to go from here ? http://web.archiveorange.com/archive/v/8tc1Zc2rV3qiUcy9zPlA

  When I run my python script in the shell terminal, it works sudo myscript.py --version=22 --base=252 --hosts="{'hostA':[1],'hostB':[22]}" But when I run in Hudson and Jenkins, using Execute Shell step, somehow, the string --hosts="{'hostA':[1],'hostB':[22]}" is interpreted as sudo myscript.py --version=22 --base=252 '--hosts="{'hostA':[1],'hostB':[22]}"' How do we overcome this so that our script would run in Jenkins and Hudson ? • Access IIS Admin without local administrator rights

  We are running Microsoft Server 2003 with IIS. We would like to give our developers access to manage IIS (through IIS Admin) but do not want them to be administrators of the entire machine. Putting them in "Power Users" group does not seem to work. What permissions should we grant to our developers to allow them to manage IIS (e.g. add websites, modify app pools, etc.) without giving them full admin rights to the server?

• Can radius interact with pptp beyond authentication?

  I've managed to setup pptp to use Radius authentication - making it much easier to manage users in an sql database than the default password file. However, ideally I'd like to be able to get the status of these users and disconnect/manage them as Radius allows - is this possible? If so, could you elaborate and point me in the right direction? All help is much appreciated! Edit I am personally using Debian and the standard aptitude packages for pptp and FreeRADIUS.

The kind of things I'm looking for: manage windows updates, + automatic applying custom package pushing (custom scripts, etc) general maintenance, visibily of health works for 2003/2008/2008R2 works without Active Directory or being part of a Domain (Might be able to manage putting all the machines on a Workgroup, if that helps)
