  • Remove a keyboard shortcut binding in Visual Studio using Macros

    - by Pete
    Hi. I have a lot of custom keyboard shortcuts set up. To avoid having to set them up every time I install a new visual studio (happens quite a lot currectly, with VS2010 being in beta/RC) I have created a macro, that sets up all my custom commands, like this: DTE.Commands.Item("ReSharper.ReSharper_UnitTest_RunSolution").Bindings = "Global::Ctrl+T, Ctrl+A" My main problem is that Ctrl+T is set up to map to the transpose char command by default. So I want to remove that default value in my macro. I have tried the following two lines, but both throw an exception DTE.Commands.Item("Edit.CharTranspose").Bindings = "" DTE.Commands.Item("Edit.CharTranspose").Bindings = Nothing Although they kind of work, because they actually remove the binding ;) But I would prefer the solution that doesn't throw an exception. How is that done?

  • How do I change the on-screen keyboard for a PasswordBox

    - by McKay
    I have a box that I want to take a password of only numbers (like an ATM-card PIN), how is the best way to do that? Requirements: Password (with the hidden numbers) Typing digits as the default (only?) keyboard What I've tried: I thought that InputScopes would be the way to go, but I can't set the input scope on a password box. I even tried putting the password InputScope on a normal TextBox, but that didn't mask the appearance of the characters in the text box. Suggestions?

  • Pygame program that can get keyboard input with caps

    - by None
    I have a Pygame program that needs text input. The way it does this is to get keyboard input and when a key is pressed it renders that key so it is added to the screen. Essentially it acts like a text field. The problem is, when you hold shift it doesn't do anything. I relize this is because the program ignores shift input and instead writes the text if it's number is under 128. I have thought of setting a variable when shift is pressed then capitalizing if it was true, but string capitalization only woks on letters, not things like numbers or semicolons. Is there maybe a number I can add to the ascii number typed to modify it if shift is pressed, or something else?

  • Block All Keyboard Input in a Linux Application (Using Qt or Mono)

    - by Evans
    Hi, I'm working on a online quiz client where we use a dedicated custom-made linux distro which contains only the quiz client software along with text editors and other utility software. When the user has started the quiz, I want to prevent him/her from minimizing the window/closing it/switching to the desktop or other windows. The quizzes can be attempted using only the mouse, so I need the keyboard to be completed disabled for the period of the quiz. How could I do this, using Qt or Mono? I'm ready to use any low-level libraries/drivers, if required. Thanks Evans

  • Event handling for keyboard strokes

    - by david
    Hey, I'm trying to get familiar with the whole keyboard event detection thing. Here's my sample code. <fx:Script> <![CDATA[ import flash.events.KeyboardEvent; import mx.controls.Alert; private function init():void{ addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN,reportKeyDown); } private function reportKeyDown(event:KeyboardEvent):void { Alert.show("a key was pressed"); } ]]> </fx:Script> As you can see, I'm at stage 0 of playing around with it, but it won't work. Anyone has any idea what I should be doing instead? Thanks

  • Javascript (JQuery) keyboard hijack problem

    - by user266564
    I'm making a typing tutor program using javascript. Everything is going well except that if activates browser hotkeys which disrupts the functionality of the program. When I press the single quote in Firefox it triggers "Quick find (links only)" short cut and in all browsers when I press space the page scrolls down a page. Everything is working fine outside of this. Here's the code in the head: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { executeType(); }); </script> And the code I am using to capture the keyboard (simplified, but tested): function executeType() { $(document).keydown(function(event) { alert(event.keyCode); }); }

  • Screen scraping an application window and interacting with the mouse and keyboard

    - by ccook
    The other day I found myself addicted to a flash game and frustrated by the thing at the same time. In a moment of frustration with the game I thought I would make a 'bot' to beat it for me. Well, I really wouldn't, but it made me realize: I don't know how to interact with another application in a way to do this. Which brings me to the question, how would one take screenshots of another running application and interact with it with the keyboard and mouse. Ideally the solution would be in a managed language like c#. When doing the background reading the net was drowning with articles on scrapping HTML. There were not many articles on actually screen scrapping an application. Diverse answers are appreciated as I’m really looking at surveying what’s out there.

  • Eclipse And Linux: Keyboard unusable after gnome-screen-saver

    - by Martijn Courteaux
    Hi, I know this is not programming related. But I can't find any topics on Google or UbuntuForums. So the problem is: When gnome-screensaver starts on the moment Eclipse has the focus and I wake up again my laptop, Eclipse doesn't listen to keyboard-events. To solve this I have to change the focus to another program and then back to Eclipse. Than it works again. This isn't a real problem, but it would be nice if someone can solve it. Thanks

  • Selecting an item in an HTML SELECT list using keyboard doesnt trigger the CLICK event

    - by Jimbo
    I have an HTML select list which, when an item is selected, must show different information beneath it. The onclick or JQuery change events are triggered when a select list item is selected by being clicked on (mouse), but not when the user uses key presses (keyboard). Any idea what event to watch in order to determine when the selected list item has changed? Here is a BASIC test example: <select id="mylist" name="mylist"> <option value="">(none)</option> <option value="1">Test 1</option> <option value="2">Test 2</option> <option value="3">Test 3</option> </select> <span id="myspan"></span> <script type="text/javascript"> $("#mylist").change(function() { $("#myspan").html($("#mylist").attr("selectedIndex")); }); </script>

  • freeGLUT keyboard input

    - by peaker
    I'm using GLUT (freeglut3) (via the Haskell GLUT bindings). import Graphics.UI.GLUT handleKBMouse :: KeyboardMouseCallback handleKBMouse key keyState mods mousePos = do print (key, keyState, mods, mousePos) main :: IO () main = do getArgsAndInitialize createWindow "testTitle" keyboardMouseCallback $= Just handleKBMouse mainLoop It seems that various important keys (e.g: Shift+Tab) do not call my callback. Also, "mods" doesn't describe the win-key, only Ctrl, Shift and Alt. Having such limited access to keyboard input is a serious impediment for real application development. Am I doing anything wrong here or is just freeglut just crippled? Is GLUT crippled in general?

    My beloved Goldtouch has died (a moment of silence)....the hinge at the middle which allows you to adjust the board finally broke and the manufacturer does not do repairs for free. I'd have to buy a new board. So...since this I'm in the market for a new keyboard and I'm looking for an adjustable one comparable or better to the Goldentouch. I post this question to all you coders out there. Which adjustable ergo keyboard do you recommend to a fellow coder and why?

  • How can light sensor be enabled for control brightness and keyboard back-light automatically?

    - by Eng.amr19
    I have A Sony VAIO laptop F-series () Nvidia and it has light sensor. When I was using Windows, this light sensor controlled the brightness and the keyboard backlight automatically due to the surroundings state. But when using Ubuntu 12.04, it only controls the backlight without automatically adjusting the brightness. How can I enable light sensor to automatically adjustment the LCD brightness without losing the keyboard backlight adjustment due to surrounding state?

  • UIView coordinate transforms on rotation during keyboard appearance

    - by SG
    iPad app; I'm trying to resize my view when the keyboard appears. It amounts to calling this code at appropriate times: CGRect adjustedFrame = self.frame; adjustedFrame.size.height -= keyboardFrame.size.height; [self setFrame:adjustedFrame]; Using this technique for a view contained in a uisplitview-based app works in all 4 orientations, but I've since discovered that a vanilla uiview-based app does not work. What happens is that apparently the uisplitview is smart enough to convert the coordinates of its subviews (their frame) such that the origin is in the "viewer's top left" regardless of the orientation. However, a uiview is not able to correctly report these coordinates. Though the origin is reported as (0,0) in all orientations, the view's effective origin is always as if the ipad were upright. What is weird about this is that the view correctly rotates and draws, but it always originates in the literal device top left. How can I get the view to correctly make its origin the "top left" to the viewer, not the device's fixed top left? What am I missing? Please, for something so trivial I've spent about 6 hours on this already with every brute force technique and research angle I could think of. This is the original source which doesn't work in this case: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1951826/move-up-uitoolbar

  • Keyboard input: how to separate keycodes received from user

    - by Iulian Serbanoiu
    Hello, I am writing an application involving user input from the keyboard. For doing it I use this way of reading the input: #include <stdio.h> #include <termios.h> #include <unistd.h> int mygetch( ) { struct termios oldt, newt; int ch; tcgetattr( STDIN_FILENO, &oldt ); newt = oldt; newt.c_lflag &= ~( ICANON | ECHO ); tcsetattr( STDIN_FILENO, TCSANOW, &newt ); ch = getchar(); tcsetattr( STDIN_FILENO, TCSANOW, &oldt ); return ch; } int main(void) { int c; do{ c = mygetch(); printf("%d\n",c); }while(c!='q'); return 0; } Everyting works fine for letters digits,tabs but when hiting DEL, LEFT, CTRL+LEFT, F8 (and others) I receive not one but 3,4,5 or even 6 characters. The question is: Is is possible to make a separation of these characters (to actually know that I only hit one key or key combination). What I would like is to have a function to return a single integer value for any type of input (letter, digit, F1-F12, DEl, PGUP, PGDOWN, CTRL+A, CTRL+ALT+A, ALT+LEFT, etc). Is this possible? I'm interested in an idea to to this, the language doesn't matter much, though I'd prefer perl or c. Thanks, Iulian

  • ASP.NET MVC Page - Dropdown control doesn't function with Keyboard Arrow Keys

    - by Rita
    Hi I have a page that has a Dropdown control (ddlDeliveryMethod). So that when the user selects particular option from the Dropdown(using MOUSE), the respective Div ID's are loaded. But instead of Mouse, if we simply use the arrow keys from Keyboard, the respective DIV ID's are not showing. Is there any workaround for this. Appreciate your responses. Here is my code: // based on Delivery method, display the respective fields $("#ddlDeliveryMethod").change(function() { $('#divRegisteredMail').hide(); $('#divRegisteredEmail').hide(); $('#divRegisteredFax').hide(); $('#divSaveForFuture').hide(); switch ($("#ddlDeliveryMethod ").val()) { case ' -- Select one -- ': break; case 'Email': $('#divRegisteredEmail').show(); break; case 'Mail': $('#divRegisteredMail').show(); break; case 'Fax': $('#divRegisteredFax').show(); break; default: caption = "default"; break; } });

  • IE problem: keyboard interaction with checkbox

    - by Bobby Eickhoff
    I have an HTML table, and each row has a checkbox for selecting or deselecting its row. Whenever a checkbox changes value, I need to add or remove highlighting to the row and also ensure that the page's submit button is only enabled when at least one row is selected and disabled otherwise. The checkbox event handler is defined by the following function: function getCheckboxCallback() { return function () { var parentRow = getParentRow(this); if (!parentRow) { return; // No parent row found; abort } // Adjust the appearance of the row setSelected(parentRow, this.checked); // Count the number of selected table rows, and disable the submit // button whenever no rows are selected enforceInvariants(); return true; }; } Elsewhere in the same module, the checkboxes are given the event handlers: checkbox.onchange = getCheckboxCallback(); checkbox.onclick = getCheckboxCallback(); // alleged IE fix I'm working in Windows XP, and everything works fine in both Firefox 3 and Opera 9. However, IE 7 does not handle keyboard interaction well (mouse interaction works fine). The problem is that if a checkbox has the focus and I hit the spacebar, the checkbox doesn't get checked -- instead it gets half checked (it has the same shadowed appearance that it would get immediately after a mousedown). I have to press the spacebar a second time to actually check the box. Similarly, it requires two key presses to uncheck it. Oddly enough, if I hold down the spacebar for a few moments, then a single press works as expected. Can anyone explain what is going on here? Is there something I'm doing wrong in the JavaScript code that is causing this behavior? How can I fix this?

  • "No keyboard for id 0"?

    - by Mellon
    I am new in Android app. development, now I have encountered a strange problem with the Menu button. Here is the thing: I have two activities, "ActivityOne" and "ActivityTwo", where "ActivityTwo" is the child Activity of "ActivityOne". In both activity, I have defined the menu button options like following: @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { super.onCreateOptionsMenu(menu); MenuItem insertMenuItem = menu.add(0, INSERT_ID, 0, R.string.menu_insert); insertMenuItem.setIcon(R.drawable.ic_menu_add); MenuItem settingMenuItem = menu.add(0, SETTING_ID, 0, R.string.menu_setting); settingMenuItem.setIcon(R.drawable.ic_menu_settings); MenuItem aboutMenuItem = menu.add(0, ABOUT_ID, 0, R.string.menu_about); aboutMenuItem.setIcon(R.drawable.ic_menu_about); logPrinter.println("creating menu options..."); return true; } @Override public boolean onMenuItemSelected(int featureId, MenuItem item) { switch(item.getItemId()) { case INSERT_ID: doInsert(); return true; case SETTING_ID: return true; case ABOUT_ID: showAbout(); return true; } return super.onMenuItemSelected(featureId, item); } In "ActivityOne", when I click the physical Menu button, there is no menu options pop up from screen bottom, when I checked the LogCat console, there are two warning messages, which are "No keyboard for id 0" and "Using default keyMap:/system/usr/keychars/qwerty.kcm.bin" . BUT, in "ActivityTwo", the menu button works fine, it shows me those menu options I defined. Why the menu button does not work in "ActivityOne" ?? What does the warning msg mean???

  • String doesn't match regex when read from keyboard.

    - by athspk
    public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { String str1 = "??123456"; System.out.println(str1+"-"+str1.matches("^\\p{InGreek}{2}\\d{6}")); //??123456-true BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in)); String str2 = br.readLine(); //??123456 same as str1. System.out.println(str2+"-"+str2.matches("^\\p{InGreek}{2}\\d{6}")); //?”??123456-false System.out.println(str1.equals(str2)); //false } The same String doesn't match regex when read from keyboard. What causes this problem, and how can we solve this? Thanks in advance. EDIT: I used System.console() for input and output. public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { PrintWriter pr = System.console().writer(); String str1 = "??123456"; pr.println(str1+"-"+str1.matches("^\\p{InGreek}{2}\\d{6}")+"-"+str1.length()); String str2 = System.console().readLine(); pr.println(str2+"-"+str2.matches("^\\p{InGreek}{2}\\d{6}")+"-"+str2.length()); pr.println("str1.equals(str2)="+str1.equals(str2)); } Output: ??123456-true-8 ??123456 ??123456-true-8 str1.equals(str2)=true

  • reading keyboard input without "consuming" it in x86 assembly

    - by Bob
    Ok so here the deal: I have an assignment regarding DOS and interrupts: I need to write a sort of key-logger function that can be called from C code. what it means is a c program would call an assembly function called startlog that would indicate to start logging the keys pressed until a function called endlog is called. the logging should work like this: write the ascii value of any key pressed without disturbing the C code between startlog and endlog, meaning that if the C code also needs to read the input (let's say by scanf, it would work ok). I managed to write the logger by changing the interrupt vector 9th entry (interrupt for keyboard press) to a function I wrote that writes the values to a file, and it works fine. however the C code does not get the input. Basically what i did is read the key pressed using int 21h, however after reading the ascii value it is "consumed" so I need a way to either simulate the key press again or read the value without "consuming" it so next time a key is read it reads the same key. (I described the code in english because it is long and clumsy assembly code)

  • FancyBox Callback Keydown

    - by headShrinker
    I have been working on this code, and I can't seem to figure it out. Fancybox's callbacks don't seem to work at all. I have the keyboard bound to the pagination for this gallery. But I want to unbind the keyboard from the table when fancybox opens. When fancybox opens nothing changes.... What to do?? $(document).ready(function() { $('a.active').click(function() { var url = $(this).attr('href'); $('#ajaxTable').load(url+'/1'); return false; }); $("a.fancy").fancybox({ callbackOnStart: function() { $('a#gleft a#gright').unbind("keydown"); }, 'frameWidth': 570, 'frameHeight': 470 }) $(document).keydown(function(event) { if(event.keyCode == 37 ) { var url = $('a#gleft').attr('href'); if (url != null) { $('#ajaxTable').load(url+'/1'); $(document).unbind("keydown"); } } else if(event.keyCode == 39 ) { var url = $('a#gright').attr('href'); if (url != null) { $('#ajaxTable').load(url+'/1'); $(document).unbind("keydown"); } } }); });

  • Java Robot key activity seems to stop working while certain software is running

    - by Mike Turley
    I'm writing a Java application to automate character actions in an online game overnight (specifically, it catches fish in Final Fantasy XI). The app makes heavy use of java's Robot class both for emulating user keyboard input and for detecting color changes on certain parts of the screen. It also uses multithreading and a swing GUI. The application seems to work perfectly when I test it without the game running, just using screenshots to trigger the apps responses into notepad. But for some reason, when I actually launch FFXI and start the program, all of my keyboard and mouse manipulations just stop working altogether. The program is still running, and the Robot class is still able to read pixel colors. But Robot.keyPress, Robot.keyRelease, Robot.mouseMove, Robot.mousePress and Robot.mouseRelease all do nothing. It's the strangest thing-- to test it, I wrote a simple loop that just keeps typing letters, and focused notepad. I'd then start the game, refocus notepad, and it would do nothing. Then I'd exit the game, and it'd start working again immediately. Has anyone else come across something like this, where specific software will stop certain functions of java from working? Also, to make this more interesting-- Last year I wrote a very similar program using the same classes and programming techniques to automate healing a party in the game as they fight. Last year, this program worked perfectly. After running into these problems I dug up that old program, ran it without making any changes, and found that it too was having the same problems. The only differences between now and when it was working: I was running Windows Vista and now I'm running Windows 7, and several new Java versions as well as FFXI versions have been released. What the hell is going on? (if anyone needs to see my source code, email me at [email protected]. I'm trying to keep it to myself.)
