• Detecting your application's install path in Java?

  Hi, I have made a small application in Java and I would like to make a windows installer for it using the Nullsoft Scriptable Install System (http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Main_Page). The application I made needs to save user preferences somewhere and it currently saves it in the user's home directory (e.g. c:\Users\danny or /home/users/danny). However if the windows installer installs the application to e.g. c:\Program Files\whatever\ I should probably save the preferences file there too, right? How would I detect that directory path in Java? What would be a good cross-platform approach to this without losing the benefits of a windows uninstaller for windows users e.g. start menu icons, installer option, etc? Should I just continue saving my preferences in the user's home path and clutter it up? Thanks very much,

• Using Twitter OAuth for automatic status update

  I want my website to automatically post status updates to a particular twitter account using OAuth in PHP. I test this using a URL www.mysite.com/update_status but it asks me for "user name" and "password", which is fine when I am testing it. But my website will not be able to insert this user name and password before posting the status update. So the question is how can a website which is in the server, automatically post a status update to an account without user filling out the user name and password. Is there any way to bypass this? I tried saving oAuth tokens, but it's not working. Thank you for your answer in advance!

When I retrieve it, I want to convert it back to a List<List<Point>>. So I have the byte[], but I cannot figure out how to convert it. How should the de/serialization look like ?

• How do I include 2 tables in LocalStorage?

  I've got a table that you can edit, and I've got a simple code saving that list when you're done with editing it. (the tables have the contenteditable on) The problem I've stumbled upon is that if I double click on enter, the table gets divided into two separate tables with the same ID. This causes the code I'm using to set the localStorage to only store one of the tables (I assume the first).. I've thought of different solutions and I wonder if someone could point out the pro's and con's (if the solutions even works that is). Make a loop that checks the page after tables and stores them into an array of localStorage-items.. I'd have to dynamically create a localStorage item for each table. Take the whole div that the tables are in, and store that in the localStorage, when a user revisits the page, the page checks after the items in storage and displays the whole divs. Any suggestions you have that can beat this :).. (but no cache, it has to be with the localStorage!) Thanks

• Racket: change dotted pair to list

  I have a program that recursively calls a hashtable and prints out data from it. Unfortunately my hashtable seems to be saving data as dotted pairs so when I call the hashtable I get an error saying that there is no data for it because its tryign to search the hashtable for a dotted pair instead of a list. Is there an easy way to make the dotted pair into a regular list? IE im getting '("was" . "beginning") instead of '("was" "beginning") Is there a way to change this without re-writing how my hashtable store stuff? im using the let function to set a variable to this and then calling another function based on this variable (let ((data ( list-ref(hash-ref Ngram-table key) (random (length (hash-ref Ngram-table key)))))) is there a way to make the value stored in data just a list like this '("var1" "var2") instead of a dotted pair? edit: im getting dotted pairs because im using let to set data to the part of the hashtable's key and one of the elements in that hash.

  I've been noticing superfluous changes in my xib files with Interface Builder 3.2.1. Here are a few of them: - <reference key="NSNextResponder"/> + <nil key="NSNextResponder"/> - <reference key="NSSuperview"/> - <array class="NSMutableArray" key="IBDocument.EditedObjectIDs"> - <integer value="6"/> - </array> + <array class="NSMutableArray" key="IBDocument.EditedObjectIDs"/> Can anyone tell me what these are, and are there any tricks for avoiding them? I'd prefer my checkins to only describe changes I intentionally made. Update: I wasn't clear in the original question, but these differences were caused by opening the file in Interface Builder and saving it without making a change.

• C# parsing txt files IF name format is desired format

  OK, I have txt files that I am parsing and saving into a sql db. The names are formatted like R306025COMP_272A4075_20090929_080159.txt However, there are a select few (out of thousands of files) with names that are formatted differently (particularly files that were generated as tests), example R306025COMP_SU2_TestBottom_20090915_101441.txt The reason this causes a problem for me is that I am using Split('_')[1,2,etc] to extract the R number, the 272A4075 portion, and the 20090929 (date) portion. When the application comes across the oddly named files, it fails because it is trying to parse 'TestBottom' as a date and inserts 'SU2' instead of the 272 number. Basically I want the app to recognize that if the file's name is not formatted like my first example, skip it. Any advice?

  Dear All , I have to generate keys from cWrsync, I have Command: "ssh-keygen -t rsa -q -N '' -f %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\.ssh\id_rsa" I placed that command into a batch file, that is pointing to cwRsync\bin directory, where ssh-keygen exe file is located, That batch file working fine Windows, But in Vista it is throwing unexpected result... the output of batch on Vista is: C:\Program Files\cwRsync\bin>ssh-keygen -t rsa -q -N '' -f C:\ProgramData\.ssh\i d_rsa open C:\\ProgramData\\.ssh\\id_rsa failed: Bad address. Saving the key failed: C:\ProgramData\.ssh\id_rsa. The intersting thing is that if i manually run this command in commandline , it again run successfully,

• VSTO Outlook project

  I currently have an Outlook 2007 VSTO plug-in which needs to write certain values into the registry. I am programmitically downloading and installing a new stationery into Outlook by saving a htm file into the users App Data folder and then updating the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\MailSettings\NewTheme registry key which sets which stationery that is currently in use. So far everything is fine for 2007, but I have checked a PC that is running Outlook 2010, and this registry key is in a different spot. Instead of 12.0 as the version it is 14.0, which makes sense. Is there anyway I can determine what version the plugin is installed in, so that I can write the key based on the correct version in the correct location?!? I haven't been able to find anything on this so far, but surely there is a way..?!? Thanks in advance. Chris

• warning C6242: A jump out of this try-block forces local unwind

  When we use SEH with __finally block, if we do return in __try block, it causes a local unwind. To Local unwind, the system need to approximately 1000 instructions. The local unwind causes a warning C6242. MSDN suggests using __leave keyword(with saving a return value). But I don't think it's a good idea. If we save a return value and leave the block, there will be many mistakes. Is the waring really necessary? What do you prefer?

• Can I have a shell alias evaluate a history substitution command?

  I'm trying to write an alias for cd !!:1, which takes the 2nd word of the previous command, and changes to the directory of that name. For instance, if I type rails new_project cd !!:1 the second line will cd into the "new_project" directory. Since !!:1 is awkward to type (even though it's short, it requires three SHIFTed keys, on opposite sides of of the keyboard, and then an unSHIFTed version of the key that was typed twice SHIFTed), I want to just type something like cd- but since the !!:1 is evaluated on the command line, I (OBVIOUSLY) can't just do alias cd-=!!:1 or I'd be saving an alias that contained "new_project" hard-coded into it. So I tried alias cd-='!!:1' The problem with this is that the !!:1 is NEVER evaluated, and I get a message that no directory named !!:1 exists. How can I make an alias where the history substitution is evaluated AT THE TIME I ISSUE THE ALIAS COMMAND, not when I define the alias, and not never? (I've tried this in both bash and zsh, and get the same results in both.)

• Is there a way to initialize ImageKit's IKSaveOptions to default to TIFF with LZW compression?

  I'm using Mac OS X 10.6 SDK ImageKit's IKSaveOptions to add the file format accessory to an NSSavePanel using: - (id)initWithImageProperties:(NSDictionary *)imageProperties imageUTType:(NSString *)imageUTType; and - (void)addSaveOptionsAccessoryViewToSavePanel:(NSSavePanel *)savePanel; I have tried creating an NSDictionary to specify Compression = 5, but I cannot seem to get the IKSaveOptions to show Format:TIFF, Compression:LZW when the NSSavePanel first appears. I've also tried saving the returned imageProperties dictionary and the userSelection dictionary, and then tried feeding that back in for the next time, but the NSSavePanel always defaults to Format:TIFF with Compression:None. Does anyone know how to customize the default format/compression that shows up in the accessory view? I would like to default the save options to TIFF/LZW and furthermore would like to restore the user's last file format choice for next time. I am able to control the file format using the imageUTType (e.g. kUTTypeJPEG, kUTTypePNG, kUTTypeTIFF, etc) but I am still unable to set the initial compression option for TIFF or JPEG formats.   Hi I'm using Interop to create a "custom word editor", basically I've incorporated MS Word on my application and I allow users to edit a document and insert custom fields from a predefined list. I provide a "Preview" option to see how the document will appear when the data is added. The users can start editing a template on my application, and at any time they can hit preview and the preview should appear with the latest changes. I want the user to be able to preview the document without saving the changes, the problem is that when I invoke SaveAs() on the document (to create a temp file that I can use as the input for the preview generator), the editor opens the temp document. Is there a way to save a copy of the document being edited but keep the original (open) document with its changes unsaved? Thanks a lot

I am using excel object for opening the excel file it works fine i my PC. when i make application as a website and running the page and uploading it gives the error "'C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Work\SABRE MSO Mapping Request Template.xlsx' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct. If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted. ". I think it taking server path...but i want to open client excel file before saving the file to the server. Plz help.

• MVVM- How would I go about propagating settings between my main view-model (and other view-models) a

  I am building a settings dialog for my application and right now all of the settings correspond with settings on the main view-model, but as I add more view's and view-models some may not. I need to know what the best practice is for loading the current settings into the settings dialog and then saving the settings to thier corresponding view-models if the user clicks okay. I will not be using the Properties.Settings.Default system to store settings since I want my application to be as portable as possible and this would store user scoped settings in the directory: C:\Users\ username \Local Settings\Application Data\ ApplicationName Instead of in my application's directory. In case it makes any difference I am using the MVVM Light Toolkit by Laurent Bugnion.

  Greetings! I am using the ASP.NET FileUpload control to allow users to upload text files to our web server. Everything works great in terms of saving the file to where we wanted, etc, using the SaveAs() method of the control. But we were caught off guard by one seemingly simple caveat: the original timestamp of the uploaded file was lost such as the date last modified and date create. The date last modified and date created become the actual date and time when the file is saved to the server. My question is: is there anyway to retain the original timestamp by setting some attributes that I am not aware of yet or is it possible to read the metadata of the file to get its original time stamp? Any in-sight and suggestions are greatly appreciated. John

  I'd like to write a unit test to verify that optimistic locking is properly set up (using Spring and Hibernate). I'd like to have the test class extend Spring's AbstractTransactionalJUnit4SpringContextTests. Also i thought that maybe it's because the default fonts somehow do not support utf-8 so according to pisa documentation i tried to set fontface in template body in style section. that still gave no results. Does any one have some ideas how to solve this issue?

• How can I stop sorl thumbnail from breaking with very long filenames?

  I've noticed that when working with SORL thumbnail, sometimes a user will upload an image with a very long filename, longer than the varfield in the database can hold. The name gets truncated in the database and the project gives errors whenever the image is requested. Is there a smart and safe way to have django automatically truncate long filenames in sorl uploads (prior to saving them in the database) to prevent this sort of thing?   Hello. I want to use SessionLocaleResolver to get the locale from user session. The documentation says this: "Another option of resolving locales is by SessionLocaleResolver. It resolves locales by inspecting a predefined attribute in a user’s session. If the session attribute doesn’t exist, this locale resolver will determine the default locale from the accept-language HTTP header." But it does not say which attribute do I have to put in session. Y tried saving in session an attribute "lang" with value "en" but it did not work. Anybody knows which attribute do I have to save in session (key,value)?
