  • Generate a controller with all the RESTful functions

    - by Barb
Hello, I am trying to generate a controller with all the RESTful actions stubbed. I had read at link text that all I needed to do was to use call the generator with just a controller name I would get just that. So, I ran "script/generate rspec_controller Properties" and I got an empty controller. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Create Class functions on the fly?

    - by JasonS
Hi, i have a validation class which needs improving. If I require some custom validation I need to specify a custom function. It works a bit like this: The controller tells the validation that a custom validation function is required. The controller runs the validation. --- Gets iffy here --- Validation class creates a new instance of the controller class.... Validation class runs controller-custom_validation_function() Validation class returns true / false Is there someway that I can alter this to do something like this? $validation = new validation; // Insert rules here. $validation-function() = $this-function(); By doing this I could get rid of the step of creating an unneeded class instance.

  • Add functions in gdb at runtime

    - by Michael Anderson
I'm trying to debug some STL based C++ code in gdb. The code has something like int myfunc() { std::map<int,int> m; ... } Now in gdb, inside myfunc using "print m" gives something very ugly. What I've seen recommended is compiling something like void printmap( std::map<int,int> m ) { for( std::map<int,int>::iterator it = ... ) { printf("%d : %d", it->first, it->second ); } } Then in gdb doing (gdb) call printmap( m ) This seems like a good way to handle the issue... but can I put printmap into a seperate object file (or even dynamic library) that I then load into gdb at runtime rather than compiling it into my binary - as recompiling the binary every time I want to look at another STL variable is not fun .. while compiling and loading a single .o file for the print routine may be acceptable.

  • Calling a Stored Procedure using C# with XML Datatype

    - by Lakeshore
    I am simply trying to call a store procedure (SQL Server 2008) using C# and passing XMLDocument to a store procedure parameter that takes a SqlDbType.Xml data type. I am getting error: Failed to convert parameter value from a XmlDocument to a String. Below is code sample. How do you pass an XML Document to a store procedure that is expecting an XML datatype? Thanks. XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument(); //Load the the document with the last book node. XmlTextReader reader = new XmlTextReader(@"C:\temp\" + uploadFileName); reader.Read(); // load reader doc.Load(reader); connection.Open(); SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("UploadXMLDoc", connection); cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; cmd.Parameters.Add("@Year", SqlDbType.Int); cmd.Parameters["@Year"].Value = iYear; cmd.Parameters.Add("@Quarter", SqlDbType.Int); cmd.Parameters["@Quarter"].Value = iQuarter; cmd.Parameters.Add("@CompanyID", SqlDbType.Int); cmd.Parameters["@CompanyID"].Value = iOrganizationID; cmd.Parameters.Add("@FileType", SqlDbType.VarChar); cmd.Parameters["@FileType"].Value = "Replace"; cmd.Parameters.Add("@FileContent", SqlDbType.Xml); cmd.Parameters["@FileContent"].Value = doc; cmd.Parameters.Add("@FileName", SqlDbType.VarChar); cmd.Parameters["@FileName"].Value = uploadFileName; cmd.Parameters.Add("@Description", SqlDbType.VarChar); cmd.Parameters["@Description"].Value = lblDocDesc.Text; cmd.Parameters.Add("@Success", SqlDbType.Bit); cmd.Parameters["@Success"].Value = false; cmd.Parameters.Add("@AddBy", SqlDbType.VarChar); cmd.Parameters["@AddBy"].Value = Page.User.Identity.Name; cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); connection.Close();

  • PLPGSQL : Return a record from function executed by INSERT/UPDATE rule

    - by seas
Do the following scheme for my database: create sequence data_sequence; create table data_table { id integer primary key; field varchar(100); }; create view data_view as select id, field from data_table; create function data_insert(_new data_view) returns data_view as $$declare _id integer; _result data_view%rowtype; begin _id := nextval('data_sequence'); insert into data_table(id, field) values(_id, _new.field); select * into _result from data_view where id = _id; return _result; end; $$ language plpgsql; create rule insert as on insert to data_view do instead select data_insert(new); Then type in psql: insert into data_view(field) values('abc'); Would like to see something like: id | field ----+--------- 1 | abc Instead see: data_insert ------------- (1, "abc") Is it possible to fix this somehow? Thanks for any ideas.

  • Python objects as userdata in ctypes callback functions

    - by flight
The C function myfunc operates on a larger chunk of data. The results are returned in chunks to a callback function: int myfunc(const char *data, int (*callback)(char *result, void *userdata), void *userdata); Using ctypes, it's no big deal to call myfunc from Python code, and to have the results being returned to a Python callback function. This callback work fine. myfunc = mylib.myfunc myfunc.restype = c_int myfuncFUNCTYPE = CFUNCTYPE(STRING, c_void_p) myfunc.argtypes = [POINTER(c_char), callbackFUNCTYPE, c_void_p] def mycb(result, userdata): print result return True input="A large chunk of data." myfunc(input, myfuncFUNCTYPE(mycb), 0) But, is there any way to give a Python object (say a list) as userdata to the callback function? In order to store away the result chunks, I'd like to do e.g.: def mycb(result, userdata): userdata.append(result) userdata=[] But I have no idea how to cast the Python list to a c_void_p, so that it can be used in the call to myfunc. My current workaround is to implement a linked list as a ctypes structure, which is quite cumbersome.

I made simple procedure just to demonstrate CREATE PROCEDURE `demo`(demo_int int) BEGIN DECLARE minid INT; SELECT min(id) FROM (SELECT id FROM events LIMIT demo_int,9999999999999999) as hoo INTO minid; END$$ The problem is with demo_int, if i change it to LIMIT 1,9999999999999999 it works but LIMIT demo_int,9999999999999999 Does not... It gives error You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'demo_int,9999999999999999) as hoo INTO minid; END' at line 4 (errno: 1064) Any clues?

  • jQuery Hover functions

    - by Banderdash
Thus far you guys have been wildly helpful with me getting this little ditty working just so. I have one further request: This markup: <div id="themes"> <h2>Research Themes</h2> <ul> <li class="tier_1"><a class="enviro" href="">Learn about our approach to the <strong>environment</strong></a> <ul class="tier_2 hide"> <li><a href=""><em>How we are tying this all together</em></a></li> <li><a href="off.html"><strong>Project:</strong> Solor Powered Biofactories</a></li> <li><a href=""><strong>Project:</strong> Cleaning Water with Nature</a></li> <li><a href=""><strong>Project:</strong> Higher Efficiency Solar Technology</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="tier_1"><a class="health" href="">Learn about our approach to <strong>human health</strong></a> <ul class="tier_2 hide"> <li><a href="">Project name numero uno goes here</a></li> <li><a href="">Project name numero dos goes here</a></li> <li><a href="">Project name numero tres goes here</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="tier_1"><a class="defense" href="">Learn about our approach to <strong>national defense</strong></a> <ul class="tier_2 hide"> <li><a href="">Project name numero uno goes here</a></li> <li><a href="">Project name numero dos goes here</a></li> <li><a href="">Project name numero tres goes here</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </div><!-- // end themes --> And this jQuery: $(function(){ $(".tier_1 > a").hover(function() { var currentList = jQuery(this).parents('li').find('.tier_2'); $(currentList).slideToggle(); jQuery(this).parents('ul').find('.tier_2').not(currentList).slideUp(); return false; }); }); Create this nifty 'themes' slider you can see working on the right column of this page: http://clients.pixelbleed.net/biodesign/ I have two problems with it...The hover retracts the slideUp/down when you hit one of the links under a tier_2 ul. I'd like it to remain slideout as someone hovers the nested li's. So the slide should only happen on hover for the tier_1 elements. Also I would like, on hover to add an "active" class to the a element on the tier_1 links. So [a class="enviro"..] would, on hover, become [a class="enviro active"]. This is then removed when one of the other tier_1 items is hovered. This way the pretty color icon can stay visible while someone looks at the nested elements. Not even sure all that is possible with hover, but I figured if anyone would know a way it would be here.

  • JavaScript: Reference a functions local scope as an object

    - by eBusiness
When I call a function, a local scope is erected for that call. Is there any way to directly reference that scope as an object? Just like window is a reference for the global scope object. Example: function test(foo){ var bar=1 //Now, can I access the object containing foo, bar, arguments and anything //else within the local scope like this: magicIdentifier.bar } Alternately, does anyone have a complete list of what is in the global scope on top of custom variables? Background: I'm trying to get down to a way of completely shifting to global scope from within a function call, the with statement is a joke, call works a little better, but it still breaks for anything declared in function scope but not in global scope, therefore I would declare these few cases in global scope, but that requires me to know what they are. The IE function execScript makes a complete shift, but that only solves the problem for IE. Note: To anyone loading JavaScript dynamically, setTimeout(code,1) is a simple effective hack to achieve global scope, but it will not execute immediately.

  • Java Timers - Functions called not completing!

    - by Matt Swanson
So I have a TimerTask task calling a function onTimerComplete() in its run() onTimerComplete() looks something like this: private void onTimerComplete(){ myFunc1(); myFunc2(); } I make a Timer t and I schedule the TimerTask with t.schedule(task, 2000); The problem is, when the timer is up and the task runs my onTimerComplete() but that function does not finish. It runs myFunc1() but never finishes it nor does it ever call myFunc2() However, if I call onTimerComplete() directly, everything works. What's the deal here?

  • vimscript: calling dictionary functions with call()

    - by intuited
I'm hoping to call a "static" dictionary function using call(). By "static" I mean that the keyword 'dict' is not used in the function's definition. I use this nomenclature in the hopes that the effect of this keyword is to declare a static member function as is possible in java/C++/etc, ie to put the function name in the class namespace but allow it to be called without referencing an object. However this doesn't seem to work. For example: " Setup: let testdict = { } funct! testdict.funct() echo "called" endfunct " Tests: " Following each line is an indented comment " containing its output in message land, ie what was echoed. call testdict.funct() " called echo testdict.funct " 667 echo string(testdict.funct) " function('667') echo function('667') " E475: Invalid argument: 667 echo function('testdict.funct') " testdict.funct call call(testdict.funct, [ ]) " E725: Calling dict function without Dictionary: 667 " Same deal if there's an intermediate variable involved. let TestdictDotFunct = testdict.funct echo TestdictDotFunct " 667 echo string(TestdictDotFunct) " function('667') call TestdictDotFunct() " E725: Calling dict function without Dictionary: 667 From the help topic E725: It is also possible to add a function without the "dict" attribute as a Funcref to a Dictionary, but the "self" variable is not available then. So logic would seem to indicate that if "self" is not available, then it should be possible to call the function referenced by the Funcref without a Dictionary. However this doesn't seem to be the case. Am I missing something? • Nested Functions in C - Best Practices

    - by Justin Ethier
I just realized a function may be defined inside another function in C: void main(){ int foo(){ return 2; }; printf("%d\n", foo()); } Besides being a neat trick, the useful thing about this is that the inner function is private to the outer function. But... is that a good enough reason to do this in a "real-world" application? What are the best practices for using this syntax?

  • Call javascript from objective-c, only works with system functions like alert() etc / phonegap

    - by adrian
hi havent found the solution yet in the forum. i want to call a function i created in the index.html via a objective-c function. As explained in stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString so the network detection doesnt work for me the function gets called but no javascript is called in the index.html here is the code i use - (void)updateReachability:(NSString*)callback { NSString* jsCallback = @"navigator.network.updateReachability"; if (callback) jsCallback = callback; NSString* status = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"%@({ hostName: '%@', ipAddress: '%@', remoteHostStatus: %d, internetConnectionStatus: %d, localWiFiConnectionStatus: %d });", jsCallback, [[Reachability sharedReachability] hostName], [[Reachability sharedReachability] address], [[Reachability sharedReachability] remoteHostStatus], [[Reachability sharedReachability] internetConnectionStatus], [[Reachability sharedReachability] localWiFiConnectionStatus]]; [webView stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString:status]; [status release]; } If i log the status the string i see can be executed in the index.html file, the syntax is ok. but it doesnt get called if i do alert( etc... it gets called... need some help pls, because network detection is a kill criteria to publish a app!!! • detachEvent not working with named inline functions

    - by Polshgiant
I ran into a problem in IE8 today (Note that I only need to support IE) that I can't seem to explain: detachEvent wouldn't work when using a named anonymous function handler. document.getElementById('iframeid').attachEvent("onreadystatechange", function onIframeReadyStateChange() { if (event.srcElement.readyState != "complete") { return; } event.srcElement.detachEvent("onreadystatechange", onIframeReadyStateChange); // code here was running every time my iframe's readyState // changed to "complete" instead of only the first time }); I eventually figured out that changing onIframeReadyStateChange to use arguments.callee (which I normally avoid) instead solved the issue: document.getElementById('iframeid').attachEvent("onreadystatechange", function () { if (event.srcElement.readyState != "complete") { return; } event.srcElement.detachEvent("onreadystatechange", arguments.callee); // code here now runs only once no matter how many times the // iframe's readyState changes to "complete" }); What gives?! Shouldn't the first snippet work fine?

  • C stack/scope, variable's lifetime after functions ends

    - by Ranking Stackingblocks
void someFunc() { int stackInt = 4; someOtherFunc(&stackInt); } Is it the case that stackInt's address space could be reallocated after someFunc ends, making it unsafe to assume that the value passed to someOtherFunc represents the stackInt variable with value 4 that was passed to it? In other words, should I avoid passing stack variables around by address and expecting them to still be alive after the function they were initialised in has ended?

  • ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small with Oracle aggregate f

    - by Tunde
Good day gurus, I have a script that populates tables on a regular basis that crashed and gave the above error. The strange thing is that it has been running for close to 3 months on the production system with no problems and suddenly crashed last week. There has not been any changes on the tables as far as I know. Has anyone encountered something like this before? I believe it has something to do with the aggregate functions I'm implementing in it; but it worked initially. please; kindly find attached the part of the script I've developed into a procedure that I reckon gives the error. I have checked the column sizes and there seems to be no problem. I tried executing the SELECT statements alone and they give the same error without populating the tables. Any clues? Many thanks for your anticipated support.

  • Delphi Unicode String Type Stored Directly at its Address

    - by Andreas Rejbrand
I want a string type that is Unicode and that stores the string directly at the adress of the variable, as is the case of the (Ansi-only) ShortString type. I mean, if I declare a S: ShortString and let S := 'My String', then, at @S, I will find the length of the string (as one byte, so the string cannot contain more than 255 characters) followed by the ANSI-encoded string itself. What I would like is a Unicode variant of this. That is, I want a string type such that, at @S, I will find a unsigned 32-bit integer containing the length of the string in bytes (or in characters, which is half the number of bytes) followed by the Unicode representation of the string. I have tried WideString, UnicodeString, and RawByteString, but they all appear only to store an adress at @S, and the actual string somewhere else (I guess this has do do with reference counting and such). I suspect that there is no built-in type to use, and that I have to come up with my own way of storing text the way I want (which actually is fun). Am I right?
