  • Build pc with 6 dvi outputs?

    I am trying to build a pc with 6 dvi outputs, I have already built a machine that does this using a radeon hd 4850x2 graphics card, but unfortunately it seems that this is unvailable to buy from anywhere in the uk currently. has this card maybe been discontinued? As i can't source this card I was wondering if there is another graphics card available that will give 4 dvi ouputs so as I can get the total of 6 needed usin g another normal 2 port card? Thnaks

  • Increase in Virtual Memory [closed]

    If we increase the virtual memory of windows server 2008 will it improve the performance on the application. upto what size can we increase the virtual memory in 32bit server. What are disadvantages and advantages of it? we are running bulk jobs(all imports and exports) everyday at 3pm.. because of that we are getting some system out of memory exceptions and and application is going down.   • Why does my computer run slowly and freeze sometimes?

    EDIT I disabled sound in the BIOS, rebooted and it hung. I removed the (previously) faulty HDD, rebooted and it hung. I have managed to get my Realtek audio manager open again after its mysterious disappearance. Subsequently my microphone is now working again, to fix it I had to uninstall audio drivers, disable audio in BIOS, install audio drivers, enable audio in BIOS. Access via network (with faulty HDD in) seems to not be triggering hangs at the moment. I think with the sound problem fixed it might play a little nicer, but I think its still going to hang. If it does, then I'm fairly sure its been narrowed down to the mobo. EDIT Pretty convinced my motherboard is the culprit, because nothing else seems to have any obvious problems (bar the hard drive, which the PC still hangs without it being plugged in) So thank you all for helping, once I get more rep ill up a few of the answers. My PC is doing some weird things... Sometimes when I open up a program, lets say Adobe Photoshop, it will load everything normally, nice and quick no problems and I can use it fine. Other times its a little odd, and it loads the program as if it's only using half of the CPU. It's pretty obvious when it does it, normally the loading screen skims past, but when it does this weird load you see it slowly tick though each thing, and the program itself becomes incredibly slow. Even Google Chrome does it sometimes. Yet when I exit and reopen the program without doing anything else, it typically opens fine without lagging. I think this problem is probably a symptom of something bigger, because of other problems I'm having. Random hangs; no matter what I have open or what I'm doing. My PC will sort of freeze up for a few seconds. If music is playing it will either loop the last second or two, or it will buzz. This only lasts for a few seconds then it returns to normal without having to restart. During this time all programs lock up and freeze, and the mouse and keyboard are useless. I am also having a weird issue with my audio jacks, without touching my PC at all, sometimes I will see a popup saying that I have unplugged something or plugged something in, neither of which has actually happened. Pretty sure this is cause by the motherboard. I recently had a 'Pink Screen of Death' (yes pink) which pointed to my audio drivers. The lockups seem to happen with some consistency when someone is accessing my shared files via my home LAN. Which leads me to believe either one of my hard drives is acting up or more likely the controller. One of my drives had a bit of a crash before, I used Spinrite and managed to recover my stuff and now the drive appears to be working okay. This is possibly adding to the problems. My best guess is something has gone wrong with my motherboard, possibly a power issue or a chip has died, I really don't know.   • Get Python to raise MemoryError instead of eating all my disk space

    If I run a Python program with a memory leak, I would normally expect the program to eventually die with MemoryError. But instead, what happens is that all the virtual memory is used until my disk runs out of space. I am running Mac OS X 10.8 on a retina MacBook Pro. My computer generally has between 10GB to 20GB free. Mac OS X is smart enough to not die completely when the disk runs out of space (rather, it gives me a dialog letting me force quit my GUI programs). Is there a way to make Python just die when it runs out of real memory, or some reasonable amount of virtual memory? This is what happens on Linux, as far as I can tell. I guess Mac OS X is more generous than Linux with virtual memory (the fact that I have an SSD might be part of this; I don't know just how smart OS X is with this stuff). Maybe there's a way to tell the Mac OS X kernel to never use so much virtual memory that leaves less than, say, 5 GB free on the hard drive?

  • Cannot remove storage account because of lease, but I already deleted the server [closed]

    I recently created a temporary virtual server on Azure. Then I deleted it. I wanted to delete the storage account associated with it because I didn't need it any more. The problem is that the VHD file is still associated to a non-existing virtual machine!! If I try to delete the VHD from Virtual Machines\Disks I get the Delete button greyed and the table tells me it's still associated with the old VM. If I go to storage administration and try to delete the blob from vhds/ directory I get there is an active lease. I've read on Azure forums that, in these case, one should try to force releasing the lease from the blob. I followed their instructions and downloaded their script, but running it failed. The script detected that the disk is associated to a Virtual Machine and can't be deleted. The problem is that I'm 1000000% sure that I already deleted the VM. In fact, I currently only have a single VM that has its own HD and is up and running fine! What can I do to delete that storage account that is probably sucking money from my pocket?

  • Proxmox drbd configuration split brain [on hold]

    I am planning a proxmox HA configuration with two Dell R710 machines (dual 6 core processors in each) with enterprise level drive raid arrays. I would be using DRBD with a quorum disk on a third machine. I would dedicate two 1GB nics on each server to the DRBD communications. We would have approximately 12 to 14 Virtual Machines running on this pair of servers. The proxmox manual recommends creating two DRBD resources - one for the Virtual Machines that normally run on ServerA and one for the Virtual Machines that normally run on ServerB. This is because of the Primary/Primary state in which this configuration runs. If both servers have VMs talking to the same DRBD resource and a split brain situation occurs, there is potential for data corruption that must be resolved. While I understand it would take more effort to create new virtual machines, can anybody foresee any potential problems with running a separate DRBD resource for each VM instead? Does anyone have experience running a setup that way and has it worked well? It seems to me that would allow more flexibility in moving machines back and forth.

  • XP VM not detecting USB keyboard or mouse from Windows 7 host

    I've been using a Windows XP Pro VM (32-bit, SP3) for months on my work PC (Windows 7 64-bit) with no problems, with a PS/2 keyboard and a standard optical USB mouse. Today I copied this VM onto my home PC, which is also Windows 7 64-bit but with a G15 USB keyboard and MX518 USB mouse. For some reason the VM does not accept input from the keyboard or mouse, which makes it almost impossible to use. (Unity works but is not an option). Both my home and work PC are running VMware player 3.1.0. My keyboard and mouse show up as USB devices in the bottom-right of the VMware Player window, and if I click them I have the standard option to "Connect (Disconnect from host)". I have selected this option for the keyboard, and then the VM happily accepts keyboard input, but of course my host PC no longer does. It seems like VMware is seeing my keyboard and mouse as USB devices and not input devices. I've tried sending the keyboard input to the guest and reinstalling VMware Tools, but that achieved nothing. I'm certain it's a problem with the VM, and not the XP install, as I also can't use F12 to enter the VMware BIOS when the VM is powering up.

  • Parse error when trying to install app on Asus eee PC 701 running Android 2.0

    A beta tester of mine has a Asus eee pc 701 running Android 2.0 and he is trying to install an app on it from my web site. He is able to download the app but is getting a "Parse Error: There is a problem parsing the package" error. I don't really know if this problem is with the eee pc or with the apk since he is the first person to try to install it. I built it for 2.0, the manifest has 5 as the minimum API level and I used Eclipse to export and sign it. But this is my first Android app and he is the first to try to install it, so I am not sure what the problem might be? Could just be the Android implementation too.     Hi all, I'm trying to create a custom web browser for on a pocket pc in C++ MFC. When I add the Microsoft Web Browser activeX control and run the app on the pocket pc (emulator) then this error pops up: "Debug assertion failed. occcont.cpp line: 916" When I look in the debug window of VS2005: "CoCreateInstance of OLE control {8856F961-340A-11D0-A96B-00C04FD705A2} failed. Result code: 0x80040154 Is the control is properly registered? Warning: Resource items and Win32 Z-order lists are out of sync. Tab order may be not defined well." How can I use this control on a pocket pc? Or is there a similar control that works?

  • Has anyone run VxWorks on a desktop PC as a target

    Can I use a desktop PC to run VxWorks as the operating system? In other words, can a standard PC be used as a target processor? I'm not talking about hosting Workbench and a VxSim on the same machine. Rather, I'm considering running just VxWorks (and my application) on a PC. It seems feasible as long as we can configure a board support package, and write or obtain device drivers for the I/O cards on the PCI bus. What I wonder is, has anyone actually done this? I'm interested in saving a bit of money on hardware over a single board computer and cPCI backplane by using a spare desktop sitting around unused. The application is for a test set to be used in a lab. So, I don't need the portability, etc. of a typical embedded processor.

  • Trouble Extending Network with Apple Airport Extreme (PC won't connect with Ethernet)

    So I have an Apple Airport Extreme base station that I use to create a wifi network at my house. But on a separate story from this station i have a PC (running Windows 7) that does not have a wireless card. Luckily, I have another Airport Extreme Base Station, so I figured I'd have my second station "extend" the existing network. I asked Apple if this was possible, which it was, and walked through the setup wizard to extend the network. Then I ran an ethernet cable from the Station to my PC. However the PC refuses to connect to the Internet. It says it can access the network, "Unidentified Network (Limited Connectivity)", but that's it. It tells me that my computer does not have an IP address. I tried running the cable to another computer (my Apple MacBook Pro) and got a similar error. Any thoughts?

  • Accurate Timings with Oscilloscopes on PC

    In the world of embedded software (firmware) it is fairly common to observe the order of events, take timings and optimise a program by getting it to waggle PIO lines and capturing their behavior on an oscilloscope. In days gone by it was possible to toggle pins on the serial and parallel ports to achieve much the same thing on PC-based software. This made it possible to capture host PC-based software events and firmware events on the same trace and examine host software/firmware interactions. Now, my new laptop ... no serial or parallel ports! This is increasingly the case. So, does anyone have any suggestions as to go about emitting accurate timing signals off a "modern" PC? It strikes me that we don't have any immediately programmable, lag-free output pins left. The solution needs to run off a laptop, so using add-on cards that only plug into desktops are not permitted.

  • i cant ping to my DMZ zone from the local inside PC

I cant ping to my DMZ interface from a local inside network PC. so the only way a ping the DMZ is right from the Cisco ASA firewall, there i can pint to all 3 interfaces, Inside, Outside and DMZ,,,, But no PC from the Inside Network can access the DMZ.   • Connecting PC via Bluetooth SNP

    Hi, I have a widcomm example BluChat "WIDCOMM SDK RFComm Service" running on my PC with an USB dongle (BT-2400P). I would like to connect this chat from my HTC Desire. So I stared with the Java example http://developer.android.com/resources/samples/BluetoothChat/index.html. This is also using BT RFComm. If I'm using my HTC as a server it work's fine, but I would like to use my PC as a server. Then .connect() comes back with "Service Discovery Failure". I have modified the UUID string in the Java example to match the PC-application mmSocket = mmDevice.createRfcommSocketToServiceRecord(UUID.fromString("5fc2a42e-144e-4bb5-b43f-4e61711d1c32")); mmSocket.connect(); What is missing?     hi guys. I'm looking to create a simple app which will send keystrokes from an iphone to a PC. I understand that I will need to have a program on my PC "listening"... I've been looking in to AsyncSocket and NSStream, but there are no tutorials which really make it clear to understand. Does anyone know if this is right? I basically want to interact with a program on my PC which listens for keystrokes to control it. Does anyone know of a tutorial or place where I could start to learn this? (I've written iphone apps before, but I am new to networking)

  • How do I fix my VM's network connection if it seems to be running ok from the host?

    I have a virtual machine (made with vmware) with a linux ubuntu os installed on it (i have a series of them), with NAT network connection - i am running vmware on Windows XP (my host system); the virtual machine can't connect to the internet. All the vmware services seem to be working fine from windows point of view, but inside the machine i can't connect to the internet. What is strange is that the virtual machine was able to use the internet some time ago, but all of a sudden, i just can't use my internet on the virtual machine - i have made no changes to the settings, nor in windows, nor in the virtual machine - so i don't understand.
